  1. It took little time to enter Dawn, Hatsu's hands eventually drifting within his pockets as he scans the surrounding area. Nothing of interest particularly caught his eye, but the materials within this place of learning would serve as a decent enough place to start. With the guidance of Arthur Rowan's lesson, he was already well on his way to performing the typically frowned-upon acts of reanimating the dead. A vile magic that consisted of ripping souls from the cosmos themselves in order to appropriate them for personal use. A distinct act against the life-stream itself, and one that he personally did not consider a light subject.
  2.
  3. Despite this, his curiosity and his desires to unearth the unknown out-weighed the mild respect he had for the life-stream. His teachings from Malentine had saw to that, and his distinct disregard for what was 'natural' had only become more pronounced with the years that came. His eyes drift along the tables as he acquires medical tools, only to likely hand some of them over to Aspen.
  4.
  5. Like any respectable man who valued knowledge, he paid the children performing similar acts little mind. What they did on their own time was theirs to accomplish, and he's always had a soft-spot for folks who wished to educate themselves. "Right. Well the first order of business is requiring a body. You often want to ensure the main portions of the body parts required are present. The head, heart, stomach, and spine. These are essential to creating a 'live' undead, one that has personality and thoughts of its own. Otherwise you'll acquire a mindless drone." He informs Aspen, directing her attention to the body of a middle-aged woman, with repeated sword wounds directed within her neck area. Luckily, her head remained attached despite the gruesome injuries.
  6.
  7. "I wish for you to inspect the body foryourself, and get accustomed to identifying these portions of importance."
  8. (Hatsu Wvelven)
  9.
  10. Traversing towards Dawn did take time. Aspen sifted through her satchel for the materials they'd need for note taking, which was her empty lab books, a quill, and ink.
  11.
  12. No attention paid for the already present, the Yano was handed medical supplies while she inspected the woman's body. The stab wounds in her neck were scrutinized closely.
  13.
  14. "Heart, head, stomach, and spine. Got it." Did that mean she had to rip open the body in order to inspect for those parts? The thought formed her blank mien into disgust. Surely in the future should she locate bodies for this man, those parts were entirely necessary.
  15.
  16. "I'll have to get used to that-" she states, staring up towards him. The disgusted expression faded away. His work tied to her own albeit their relations were nothing alike when it came to the spiritual arts of Nethradin summoning.
  17.
  18. "What else do you have to do.. or are we.. going to check ifthis woman has those organs?"
  19.
  20. Is that why those supplies were handed to her. Aspen glances towards the lab book she prepared nearby for notes, then towards the medical supplies.
  21.
  22. "If so.. I guess this'll be good practice for being a medic.."
  23. (Aspen Yano)
  24.
  25. "Indeed. We'll be inspecting the body in order to see if she has the necessary body parts. If not, we'll proceed anyway, but it doesn't hurt to get into the habit of doing so. They make the difference in regards to the final product, and while it certainly is difficult to acquire a body in that sort of pristine condition, it's still plausible. In a perfect world, you'd expect to see all four of these parts located within the deceased - but in reality? You'd be lucky to acquire at least half of which. Magi are often messy and violent, you see. That is why I enjoy my own magic, as it's less...messier."
  26.
  27. Already, he was washing his hands and drying them with a rag, studying the body with an apathetic stare. Yet another corpse that would serve as a tool for him to propel himself further into the arts of Necromancy. And what better teacher than by one of the greatest Necromancers to date? His recollection of the process is recorded within his mind, mimicking the very same steps that were required. "Assist me in checking the body parts, and then we'll proceed from there. It won't hurt for you to learn the process yourself, if the fancy of learning such arts comes to mind. We'll do the preliminary steps for today, and then we'll proceed from there once the proper notes are taken."
  28.
  29. His arms fold along his chest as he allows Aspen the first dibs on cutting open the woman's chest, his eyes drifting along the deceased's frame with an analytical stare. "The corpse itself appears to be in decent condition, outside of the multitude of bruising along her wrists. It's likely she was bound by rope from the markings there. The dirtied fingernails appear to have caked up blood on them, which may stem from her being stabbed through her neck, or from her trying to break out. Her left ankle is also fractured, and lacerations are numerous along her left shoulder."
  30.
  31. He busily writes this information down, though the information is also for Aspen's benefit.
  32. (Hatsu Wvelven)
  33.
  34. With listening to the man's explanations for the importance of these organs, Aspen went ahead to clean her hands, place on gloves, and prepare to begin the procedure. All the while Hatsu had done the same.
  35.
  36. She stood with anticipation that he'd begin the inspection but with the crossing of his arms, it appeared he wanted to allow her the first bit of it.
  37.
  38. "Shit," she whispered. The Yano approached the corpse, meanwhile Hatsu began taking notes - likely about the woman's current condition. All injuries around her wrists, neck, and fingernails were noted in her mind.
  39.
  40. The scalpel pierced through the deceased woman's chest and was guided downward. The further the blade cut through the skin, the more Aspen's stomach churned with disgust. This would definitely be something she'd need to get used to. It wasn't a procedure she did daily..
  41.
  42. The blade cut through the skin with ease, reaching below the abdomen before it was removed. A long breath in, then out audibly could indicate both nervousness and anxiety, but regardless..
  43.
  44. Aspen looked towards Hatsu with uncertainty, then back to the corpse. The skin of the chest was pulled apart, revealing the organs within that stained with blood from her operation.
  45.
  46. "Heart and stomach intact."
  47.
  48. What was next? Quickly, Aspen pulled together the flaps of skin to close up what had been revealed. It turned her stomach inside out to see that.
  49.
  50. 'Cain.. is this what I really want to do with life? Damn..'
  51.
  52. "What's next now? The.. head is clearly intact, but barely. I can stitch up the neck and make sure the internal damage is fixed too. As for the spine?"
  53.
  54. A hand slipped under the unmoving body to feel for it, which it had been there. Thankfully. That portion she didn't want to particularly mess with, especially when she'd already felt too sick from cutting open the chest and down to the stomach.
  55.
  56. "It's present.." Aspen took a step back, cracking a snort at herself.
  57. (Aspen Yano)
  58.
  59. Hatsu chuckles as he watches Aspen toil away with the body, the expressions she happened to be making striking him as ironic. After all, she was the one who aspired to some semblance of a medical professional, and yet she was this squeamish? Especially when she happened to rake her arms in the past to draw forth her blood magic? Hatsu lightly pats her back as he comes to survey the body in question, taking note of its 'inventory' with a mild frown. While he cared little for corpses, even he'd have to admit his typically iron stomach did quiver when he had to smell and look into the innards of a dead body. But that was why he had Aspen do it! He'd make his way around to her once more, only to lightly toy with the collar-like jewelry along her neck.
  60.
  61. "We'll need to stitch up the neck, accompanied with ensuring the rest of the body portions are in-tact. If they aren't we can still proceed, but the revival will be limited in terms of its success rate, along with its responsiveness. Try not to get this dirty, by the way!" He quips, presuming to document the given information for recorded purposes.
  62.
  63. Quality bonding time, surely.
  64. (Hatsu Wvelven)
  65.
  66.
  67. A pat on the back for her hard work! Sure Aspen had ease with cutting up her own skin in the past, but to perform the same on another? It churned her stomach to a degree, but regardless of that, the cutting of this corpse's skin was finished. Now to reconnect it with a needle and thread.
  68.
  69. That portion she had no trouble with.
  70.
  71. Even as Aspen removed those tools to thread the surgical string through the head of the needle and tie it off, she eavesdrops on the nearby conversation and actions. Neo's blood being fed to another for its effects?
  72.
  73. Aware of a vampire's blood being useless outside of their own body if not immediately taken in for a feeding, the idea that the Oscuri continued sending off people to obtain their blood was troublesome.
  74.
  75. Its presence, the blood, brought back that unreachable itch. The one she gained anytime she hungered for the blood of her sire, Priscilla. Its occurrence had the young woman twitching a finger or two together. She had to break away her sight on it, which she did, flicking her eyes back among the body.
  76.
  77. Disregarding the report for later in her thoughts for now, while she splits her attention between the two ongoing projects in the school, momentarily she places her gazes to Hatsu. The needle is held up.
  78.
  79. "I won't, my love," she responds quietly. More twitching. Aggression stirred up. At the oscuri's project and at the unfortunate circumstance that she hadn't fed for some time now.
  80.
  81. "Here we go," she states bluntly. The arteries in the neck are stitched together with accurate precision, bringing together the severed organs carefully. A long procedure, then on to the outside. A quiet, but disturbing project. Oft she found herself causing to gnaw at the inside of her lip while glancing between Hatsu and the other situation at hand with an intense stare.
  82.
  83. Finally.. the next wasbrought together again. Beautifully completed work.
  84.
  85. "Done," she whispers, giving a forced smile to Hatsu.
  86. (Aspen Yano)
  87.
  88.
  89. Hatsu appears thoughtful as he watches her set to work upon the corpse, finishing up his preliminary notes. Outside of a bit of warning, the nearby group is ignored for the time being. Toiling with paltry amounts of blood would unfortunately yield very little results, after all. There was a reason why it took several years of consistent feeding to even begin a proper transition. Regardless, his attention doubles upon their current project, and perhaps even more-so upon Aspen. Her irritation was growing apparent, lightly rubbing the side of his cheek in thought. Whatever her reason, he doubts it'd be a problem down the line, and instead ensures that she was sewing the neck back in a correct fashion.
  90.
  91. Once the procedure had been completed, he would inspect her handiwork with scrutiny, his eyes drifting along the suture lining. A gentle tilt of the corpse's head is given, experimentally rolling it about without any sign of breakage. Content with their progress thus far, Hatsu would ensure that the body would make it's way back to the camping grounds, once it had been properly sutured up in its entirety. This time, he'd naturally assist, carefully lining up the portions of skin in order to have them sown together once more.
  92.
  93. "Excellent work. We've done more than I anticipated on a brief visit here. It'll be interesting to see the results." He muses, though he wasn't strictly speaking of the project in question. With that being said, he would prepare to head out, after washing his hands thoroughly and the body had been secured. He'd presume Aspen would accompany him, taking note of her mood swings. Ah, the good old hunger pains.
  94. (Hatsu Wvelven)
