  1. Important stuff to read:
  2. If I ever do write this, there's some pretty big spoilers here. I probably won't though, so have fun.
  3. This is the very first thing I wrote when I started writing. I've only made minor edits to make it a bit more legible.
  4. With that: SPOILERS TO SOMETHING THAT MAY BE
  5.
  6. -----------
  7.
  8. "I must say 'sister-'"
  9. >You all but spat the word
  10. "It is fitting, in an odd way, that he has this companionship with these sins."
  11. >"Luna, please."
  12. >Celestia tries to plead with you, but you look at the decadent cake on the table and have no interest in talking.
  13. "Quite an interesting group he has with him, don't you think? There is Gluttony, who spends his days here baking pastries and sweets, enjoying naught but the smell of his work because he knows it would be a waste even if he enjoys it."
  14. >"Luna-"
  15. >You slam the teacup down with a bit too much force, cracking it.
  16. >"Luna those were imported from the minotaur-"
  17. "GREED!"
  18. >Thunder rattles around the room, lightning arcing from you body in sporadic bursts.
  19. >Celestia, momentarily quelled by the display, lets you continue.
  20. "Greed has taken it upon himself to create these little clubs, giving out books and comics in earnest. Watching over Ponyville and even going so far as to help tidy up ponies homes and find lost items for little trinkets."
  21. >"T-Twilight takes care of-"
  22. >Rolling you neck, you cut you sister off once again.
  23. "Sloth is an interesting one, don't you think?"
  24. >You ask this with an all too fake smile stretched across your face.
  25. >You would really rather get your khopesh and show your 'sister' what you thought of her.
  26. >But words were her forte, which is why you need to fight her like this.
  27. >Last time she beat you in combat, now you will beat her with words.
  28. "Anonymous says he outright dislikes, if not despises mortals, and yet he now gives aid at a flight camp and a crippled pegasus now flies because of his word."
  29. >She bristles at that, suggesting you are on the right track.
  30. >"There was nothing we could do for her save for getting outside help. As for Sloths flight camp activities, I have my own school."
  31. >She smiles, clearly proud of herself despite her folly.
  32. "Pride and Envy are, quite literally, joined at the hip."
  33. >Celestia winces at this, now aware of the trap.
  34. "One of their more interesting traits is that they actually seem to be able to live different lives despite their connection. Pride enjoys doing farm work and manual labor in any way he can. Envy takes it upon himself to create things, including simple clothing which he can not wear."
  35. >"..."
  36. "Do you think that plays into his sin, Celestia?"
  37. >You add emphasis to her name.
  38. >You had almost exclusively called her sister since your return.
  39. >You don't know if you can do that anymore.
  40. >Celestia sits quietly in her chair, tears silently streaming down her face.
  41. >She knows what's coming.
  42. >You open your mouth to deliver the final blow but are interrupted.
  43. >"And what of Wrath, sister dearest? What can you tell me of your sin of Wrath?"
  44. >You close your eyes, slowly breathing out of your nose.
  45. >To brand himself in such a way.
  46. >How he tortured himself so, creating those...things and naming them in such a way.
  47. "Wrath is something we both know very well, Celestia. When the Titans took what was ours we showed them Wrath. I remember how you hollowed out the burning innards of the largest, while Amore I gathered the others so that we could fuse them into what is now known as Tartarus. When that was done we were bestowed with the title of Erinyes. For he saw our Wrath."
  48. >You were shaking now, the memories coming back in a torrential flood.
  49. "He saw us fight and deemed us his Furies, his deities of vengeance! He saw our Wrath and he thought naught for a moment of his own safety. As soon as he was free he tried to tend to our wounds, despite how quickly they healed before him, which was once again his own work."
  50. >Tears poor freely between the two of you.
  51. >You remember how he had tried to fuss over a small nick on Celestias ear despite his broken arm.
  52. >How he had tried to hug Amore, only for her to wince back because of the frostbite.
  53. >He tried to do the same with you, but you weren't quite warm enough so you tried to hold him back with magic.
  54. >You still remember how he screamed when the magic affected his broken arm.
  55. >It was a horrible sound.
  56. >But you would listen to it to the end of days if it meant you never had to hear him cry.
  57. >You grit your teeth and the room grows noticeably colder.
  58. "Do you know what I want to know of, 'sister?'"
  59. >You practically hiss the word, your self control at its utmost limit.
  60. "I want to know of Lust."
  61. >The statement slams down with the finality of the headsmares axe.
  62. >Celestias head snaps back, as if struck.
  63. >"Luna-"
  64. "Did you know he had nightmares? Part of the reason I went with 'Nightmare Moon' during my little uprising. He refused to tell me what he dreamt of. I would do everything I could to try and ease his burden or to enter his mind. After everything he had done for us, I thought it only fair. In the end, all I could do was hold him while he slept. You remember how he talked in his sleep, don't you?"
  65. >A nod is your only answer.
  66. "For one whole week I held him as tightly as I dared, trying to make him feel safe while not breaking him. During this week he would cry, scream, thrash, and beg for me to stay. To stay, Celestia."
  67. >You wipe the tears from your eyes with a hoof and look across the table.
  68. "But above all else, he apologized. I thought it was some delayed reaction from Amore leaving. He was able to complete near any project he put his head to save for that one. It was not until he was gone and I read that note that I realized what you had done. And now? Now you have a chance for redemption yet you choose to scorn the fruits of his endeavors?"
  69. >"We don't know-"
  70. >THWACK
  71. >Celestias head snaps back from the force of your hoof.
  72. >Shock was clear on her face.
  73. "You are a coward, Celestia. But that is just as well."
  74. >You smile a wicked grin, locking your horn with Celestias.
  75. "Of what little we have seen of Anonymous, he seems to have more in common with me than his own-"
  76. >WHAM
  77. >You are sent sailing through the air, and shortly there after through a block of stone.
  78. >You look around trying to get your bearings, but all you can make out is fire and sand.
  79. >"DON'T YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE!"
  80. >It would seem Celestia teleported the two of you to the Badlands.
  81. >You smile.
  82. "Finally."
