  1. I've been thinking it would be cool to have a version of bingo which allows most of the SRM tricks, so I'm planning on making one. It probably won't be very well balanced, but it's just for fun. I'd definitely play it sometimes. I'd expect it to be pretty short, maybe like 45 minutes on average?
  2.
  3. --- RULES ---
  4.
  5. Right now I'm thinking:
  6. -ban ACE
  7. -ban Light Node SRM and other methods of arbitrary RAM write
  8. -filename MUST be the one for title file in kokiri forest (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3dScdKAsoo)
  9. -allowed consoles are VC, N64, and emulator on NTSC 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2
  10.
  11. I think that is the sweet spot between allowing SRM in bingo and not letting it get too broken. We don't want it to turn into creating things like persistent RAM editors, using precise control stick coordinates, or abusing filenames too much.
  12.
  13. For example, the main srm tricks which would be used in bingo would be everything the most recent SRM hundo world record route used (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8EE9FXeJnE).
  14.
  15. Probably the most common SRM uses in bingo:
  16. -Title File SRM
  17. -Butterfly rewards
  18. -change age to adult
  19. -f boots
  20. -Grotto SRM for the glitched entrance value that lets you warp around
  21. -FW on B
  22.
  23. Other SRM uses would be allowed but probably not used very often:
  24. -item screen modification
  25. -quest status modification
  26. -c button modification
  27. -farores wind stored entrance modification
  28. -current cutscene modification
  29. -setting scene flags (such as lowering water in water temple)
  30. -Pot chest
  31. -Modify chest contents or other actor variables
  32. -etc.
  33.
  34. Future SRM uses would be allowed unless they are similar to Light Node SRM or ACE.
  35.
  36. I think the rules are good like this but I am open to suggestions. If something else as powerful as Light Node gets found we can just ban it. Most other new SRM uses would probably be allowed though.
  37.
  38.
  39. --- GOAL LIST ---
  40.
  41. The hard part is coming up with the goal list.
  42.
  43. We can just have a source requirement rule for certain goals. Setting the flags for them with SRM, RBA, or other methods would not count as completing the goal. For example, this would apply to:
  44. -Defeat Volvagia
  45. -Defeat a White Wolfos
  46. -All Skulltulas in X area
  47. -"4 Songs" -> "Learn 4 songs"?
  48.
  49. We can turn most item goals into action goals (setting flags for the chests being open would not count):
  50. -"Megaton Hammer" -> "Open Megaton Hammer chest"
  51. -"Fire Boss Key" -> "Open Fire Boss Key chest"
  52. -"Map and Compass in Fire Temple" -> "Open Map and Compass chests in Fire Temple"
  53. -"4 Boss Keys" -> "Open 4 Boss Key chests"
  54.
  55. Some goals from normal bingo could just be removed if they don't really fit in SRM bingo.
  56.
  57. --- BINGO BOARDS ---
  58.
  59. Once we have a list of goals we rank them from 1-25 and use the old school bingo generator (https://speedruntools.com/bingo/). I am not planning on timing all this stuff for a v10.1-style generator. Nerfs and buffs can happen in later updates. Figuring out the meta for good/bad rows is pretty interesting anyways, and can always modify goals or adjust the rules in later versions.
