- Each Herald app gets 9 points to spend on Gifts. They can be apportioned out however the player wishes: you can play someone like Herald Pol, with every Gift but only a 1 in each. Or you can play a character like Mags or Lavan where you are hella strong in one thing but don’t do anything else. No Vanyels -- you cannot be crazy strong in everything!
- If you are apping a Herald, you cannot have Healer or Mind-Healer Gifts as part of your app. It’s been stated that Companions don’t choose people who could become Healers. There may be ways for you to gain a point in Healing later in game.
- However, your Herald absolutely can have the Bardic Gift. Nothing says your Companion may not have a fine ear for music, and there are scenarios where it could be very helpful! However, you cannot devote more than 3 points to this Gift since actual Bards can’t either.

- Point scale is 0-3; players have 4 points to allot
- Bards must possess at least 2 of the 3 talents in order to earn their Scarlet. As a result, each Bard app gets 4 points to spend on Gifts; you can have all 3 with one particular talent (2-1-1), or you can have 2 about equal in strength (2-2-0), or you can have 1 very good, 1 low level, and then none in the third (3-1-0).

- Healers may or may not have any Gifts at all -- they may simply be very good at doctoring.
- COST SCALE - MINDSPEECH
- 0 - You can only Mindspeak with your Companion, when you are in relatively close physical proximity (within about a football field’s distance).
- 1 - You can Mindspeak with other Mindspeakers when in relatively close physical proximity (in the same house-sized building or similar). Strong emotions may choke off your ability to ‘Speak.

- 9 - You can be heard by the unGifted, and your range for ‘Speaking with other Gifted spans across a decent-size city without assistance from your Companion. A boost from your Companion will let you be heard by another Mindspeaker extremely far away.
