  2. Soul Traders:
  3. -Soul Traders are usually not Numeri themselves, but typically have a number of abilities to deflect or escape Numeri [ducking into the astral, teleporting away, increased speed, etc] making them difficult to rob. They are always PC-class beings.
  4.
  5. Mechanics:
  6. -The average Soul Trader has between 8-10 different types of Souls on them at any given time they are willing to trade.
  7. -To generate a Soul Trader, you make a number of private rolls [as DM] to determine their selection and preference.
  8. -First, roll a d10. On a failure, they have only Common Souls. Select 8-10 Common Souls to trade. On a success, they have a Class Soul. On a crit, they have two Class Souls, a Class Soul and a +1 Soul, or an Astra.
  9. -If you rolled a success on the previous roll, roll another d10. On a failure, the Class Soul is some variety of Tainted. On a success they are normal Class Souls.
  10. -Roll a d4 to determine their preference. Soul Traders will usually trade a Common Soul for an equally rare Common Soul of that type, or a handful of Common Souls of lesser rarity. When Machine and Tarrying have more Souls, this will become a d6. Their selection also tends to be biased towards their preference.
  11. -Roll a d4 for every Common Soul to determine inventory.
  12. -Soul Traders will usually only trade Class Souls for other Class Souls [or +1 Souls], although they may trade for several decently rare Souls of their preference.
  13. -Soul Traders will generally give 2-3 Common Souls for a Class Soul given by the player, regardless of Taint or preference.
  14. -When a Soul Trader is met, his Souls should be displayed as a list and haggling should be done OOC. This is a bit video-gamey but the alternative takes forever.
  15. -The generation can be tweaked as desired, this is just for a shorthand.
  16.
  17. Preference Chart:
  18. 1: Animal
  19. 2: Plant
  20. 3: Elemental
  21. 4: Tainted
  22.
  23. Generation Example:
  24. -Shima decides to create Moogle, the Soul Trader.
  25. -He rolls a d10 for rarity, rolling 7. He has a Class Soul.
  26. -Next, he rolls a d10 for corruption, rolling a 3. The Class Soul is Tainted.
  27. -Next he determines preference, rolling a d4. He rolls a 3, and thus the Trader prefers Elemental Souls.
  28. -Finally, Shima picks out Moogle's Souls. He decides Moogle has nine Common Souls, with four of them being various types of Elemental and the others being various. The Class Soul he decides to be a Troll Berserker, creating the following list. Lastly, he rolls d4 for every Common Soul. The Class should ALWAYS be only one.
