Jack Bauer fans - get over yourselves. This new series is of course based on the original 24 series and without Jack Bauer it is obviously going to be a bit different.<br/><br/>I really didn&#39;t miss Jack Bauer at all and I believe if they&#39;d never seen the original, most people would rate this pilot high.<br/><br/>The pilot gets off to a sinister start with the &quot;bad guys&quot; doing their bad stuff straight away. The hero starts off gently but is quickly thrown into a fast paced life or death situation. (Tiny spoiler) I liked that his wife comes to the rescue and helps him escape (for now). <br/><br/>A lot of relevant characters are introduced early with hints as to what they might be up to which increases the suspense and makes for an interesting start.<br/><br/>The cast is good, and although our hero has an ungrateful task living up to Jack Bauer, he&#39;s doing a good job.<br/><br/>Give the show a chance - it is definitely the fast paced, highly suspenseful show you would expect from a show titled &quot;24&quot;.<br/><br/>I do find all the comments about the show being &quot;blacked&quot; quite racist. Who cares what skin color the actors have if their doing a good job? Having different characters doesn&#39;t make this worse, but it does make it more interesting. Will be watching this show for sure - can&#39;t wait for episode 2.
I was hoping this was going to be as good as the first 8 seasons of 24 but so far it has been a big disappointment so I have just deleted from my DVR. The writing acting and story lines are poor to fair and you do not get that rush that 24 had. On a good note Designated Survivor is great so that is my replacement for my 24 fix.
