  6. A'ight.
  7.
  8. "Lost in Shuravia, Part 2" is a go!
  9.
  10.
  11. >before long, they were finished
  12. >the Sinner, who called himself Bratislav, was quite resourceful
  13. >with a bit of arcane legwork, they could re-size the old uniform and equipment to fit the smaller frame of the imp
  14. >soon enough, Moxxie stood before them, bundled up in the khaki trousers and a fresh jacket, with a specially-modified kepka-afganka (leaving slits inn the seams for his horns, before they just opened the top and back completely, to enable him to take it off more easily)
  15. >on top of that came the helmet, which hid his horns in a pocket dimension, making it a far easier thing to put on
  16.
  17. >it was... weird, looking at him without his horns
  18. >an emasculated look, but at the same time, not - the heavy kit made sure of that
  19. >the boots were arguably the most difficult, mostly because he didn't want to put them on
  20.
  21. >"My body's made for barefoot walking! I don't need them!"
  22. "You'll need them in the desert, ypoд. Is hotter than Hell there, and cold as Apктикa at night!"
  23. >"Bah!"
  24. >but he still put them on
  25.
  26. >then, Bratislav made him do some basic exercises, to get him used to the weight, whilst Millie and Blitzo finished the circle and pentagram
  27. >soon enough, the portal was ready for access
  28.
  29. "Now, for your weapons."
  30. >the Slav laid them out on the table
  31. "You already have the Toкapeв."
  32. >he said, motioning towards the holster at the imp's hip
  33. "Your main weapon will be the AКC-74У. No point in giving you full-scale rifle, so you'll get кapaбин. For back-up..."
  34. >and he moved his hand to the next piece.
  35. "Bитязь. Would've gone with the MP7, but I figured it's better to give something that can double as spare parts."
  36.
  37.
  38. >next came the grenades
  39. >then the medkit
  40. >rations
  41. >warm clothes
  42. >tent
  43. >and other miscellanea
  44.
  45. >soon, the portal was opened, and, with a final hug from Millie (and a salute from Bratislav, which Blitzo soon mimicked), Moxxie stepped trough it
  46. -
  47. >he landed on his feet, nearly buckling under the weight of the backpack and the guns
  48. >it kicked up a lot of dust, too - never before has he appreciated having a hat with flaps
  49. >once the dust settled, he could see his surroundings trough the lenses
  50.
  51. >it was morning
  52. >he was in a vast, arid field, near the foot of a mountain range
  53. >but he couldn't take in the scene for long
  54.
  55. >the radio crackled to life
  56.
  57. *KRRSH*
  58. "Bнимaниe, Shaslik-1, this is HQ, do you copy?"
  59.
  60. >shaking off his daze, he replied quickly:
  61. >"Yes, this is... Ugh, do I really have to use that?"
  62.
  63. *KRRSH*
  64. "You like to cook, no?"
  65.
  66. >Moxxie blinked
  67. >"Well, yeah, but...! Uuugh. Yes, this is Shaslik-1, I hear you loud and clear. Over."
  68.
  69. *KRRSH*
  70. "Хopoшo. Check your compass. You need to head south."
  71.
  72. >he did, and found himself facing the mountains
  73. >the imp sighed
  74. >"Well, here we go..."
  75.
  76.
  77. >back in the office, they huddled around the ancient military radio
  78. >the reception was OK, but the sound quality was shit
  79. "Try to find a path, and stick to it. Don't go rock climbing if you don't need to."
  80.
  81. *KRRSH*
  82. >"I wasn't going to...!"
  83.
  84. >it was tedious
  85. >anxiety-enducing
  86. >Bratislav would ask where he was, and bark orders accordingly
  87. >Blitzo would yell in as well, from time to time, when the Slav let him
  88. >all the while, he kept his... face? on the maps
  89.
  90. >at some point, he took his mask off, revealing a blank, green face, with no features - just a mouth, and a questionmark where the rest should've been
  91. >she swore he even saw it subtly move, as he studied the map while talking
  92. >then suddenly, he turned to her:
  93.
  94. "Do you want to talk to him?"
  95.
  96. >she froze, as the green hand - calloused, with blocky digits - offered her the headset
  97. >placing it upon her head (after trying to wrangle it around her horn, before just letting the arch rest in front of them), she spoke into it, quietly
  98.
  99. >"Moxxie?"
  100.
  101. >silence
  102.
  103. >"Moxxie? Are you there?"
  104.
  105. >...
  106.
  107. *KRRSH*
  108. >"Millie? Is that you, sweetie?"
  109.
  110. >a broad smile spread on her face
  111. -
  112. >"Hi, honey! How are you?"
  113.
  114. >Loona groaned in the background
  115. >Blitzo, on the other hand, looked on with starry eyes
  116. >Bratislav waited patiently, as the impette chatted on, non-existent eyes on the maps, when heard a voice
  117. >"Hey."
  118. >he looked to the side
  119. >the Hellhound stood beside him
  120. "Дa?"
  121. >"Who the fuck is your guy?"
  122. >he looked at her straight
  123. "My guy?"
  124. >"Yeah, the guy you sent Moxxie after?"
  125. "Oh, him..."
  126. >his eyes returned to the maps
  127. "I don't know, really..."
  128. >"You don't know?"
  129. >she sounded pensive
  130. "Worried for him?"
  131. >"What? No! No, I don't give a fuck about the squirt." she replied "But you gave a lot of money for some guy you don't even know."
  132. "Hm."
  133. >he pondered for a bit
  134.
  135. "He was мoджaхeды, a cнaйпep. Killed some of my comrades. Good friends, coвeтcкий and aфгaнcкий alike. Always hiding, up in those mountains of theirs..."
  136.
  137. >he slipped one map over another
  138.
  139. "They sent planes, helicopters, mountaineers, but they couldn't root him out. All the planes and helicopters were shot down, all the men were killed. We just fed those mountains with blood..."
  140.
  141. >his expression darkened
  142.
  143. "And then fed their children with mines and poison..."
  144.
  145. >he flipped another map in front of him
  146. >Loona hummed
  147. >"So, what's the point then?"
  148. "Hm?"
  149. >"How do you know he's even alive?"
  150. "Oh, I know."
  151. >he looked up at the two imps, fighting over the radio microphone
  152. "I have... инфopмaтopы."
  153. >"Riiight..."
  154. >she didn't sound impressed
  155. >"So, he kills him. Then what?"
  156. "He ends up in Hell. I get payback."
  157. >he set the maps down, and motioned to the other two, that he wanted the mic back
  158. "Пpocтo кaк тoт."
  159.
  160. >"And what if he doesn't end up in Hell?"
  161.
  162. >he paused, and stared at the Hellhound
  163.
  164. "That's why I'm keeping radio connection."
  165. >and he took back the headset, barking orders once again
  166. >Loona raised an eyebrow
  167.
  168. >"The fuck would keeping contact with him would help?" she wondered
  169. -
  170. >he huffed as the reached the top
  171. >after he caught his breath (which has been happening far quicker every day), he stared ahead, surveying the valley below
  172. >no matter how many times he had seen it, it still looked beautiful
  173.
  174. >maybe it was the blue sky
  175. >you don't get that a lot in Hell
  176. >well, unless it's was sulfur cyclone season
  177.
  178. >the first day, when he reached the top of the first range, he felt disheartened, seeing the vast expanse of valleys and peaks before him
  179. >but after a few encouraging words from HQ, he continued
  180.
  181. >huh
  182. >funny
  183. >at first, he just thought about them - Millie, Blitzo, and the client, Bratislav, separately
  184. >but a week later, they just became "HQ"
  185. >sure, he could still talk to them individually, but, for the most part, it was Bratislav who dominated the airwaves
  186.
  187. >he kept going south, avoiding major population centers - and smaller ones
  188. >followed a river for a bit, going Southeast, crossed another few mountains, and searched the mountains north of it
  189. >now, he was traveling west
  190.
  191.
  192. *KRRSH*
  193. "The snow capped one?"
  194. >he didn't hesitate for long
  195. "The Baba range. The one you're crossing, the Hisar, doesn't usually get snow. You should be fine."
  196.
  197. >following the river, he soon came within proximity of a town
  198.
  199. *KRRSH*
  200. "Chagcharan. Keep eyes pealed."
  201. >"You know, considering what you've said about the war, I haven't seen any wrecked vehicles or anything..."
  202.
  203. *KRRSH*
  204. "That's because you're not on the path we took for the invasion. Or what the Americans used. Just keep head down!"
  205.
  206. >and so, he did
  207. >moving off north of the Harirud, he traveled across the shallow valleys, until he reached the Murghab
  208. >beyond it laid a smaller, taller range
  209. >on the map - according to HQ, anyway - a "splodge" between the Turkistan and Hisar ranges
  210.
  211. "You'll find him there. He lives up there, with the other пacтyхи. Sheep herders."
  212.
  213.
  214. >and so, the imp scaled the mountain
