  1. Harvey's emails between Mason and Hayden

  4. Thanks Kelly.
  5. Hayden, why don't you walk Mason and any others through the google docs budget we sent you several months back. If I need to share it again with you, I'm happy to. That shows really solid estimates of cash flow.
  6. The best thing on your end, Hayden, is to make sure the membership count and number in each class of freshmen-seniors is accurate.
  7.
  8. Mason- one big area that will help you understand the cash flow last year was the townhomes. They kicked off right around 16k in revenue per month, if I remember correctly. Some guys prepaid, so the first few months were top heavy.
  9. in addition to your monthly 10k, we moved 8k to total 18k in social for you.
  10. The roughly 8k that was left we kept in TAMC (where it still is) to have a contingency fund for unexpected expenses, help cover summer expenses, and ultimately put toward rush and social if we needed it.
  11. We do make you earn that extra 8k by working together as a fraternity toward your goals. The money is not yours. It was a gift from Noble, and we discussed how to manage it so you continue to excel, and we have funds for repairs.
  12.
  13. As far as utilities, there was a reason Tyler Anderson was fired. utilities were originally supposed to be in the names of the tenants. Tyler proposed a different way, and that we prorate utilities into the rent. None of us alumni liked it, because it encouraged brothers to take 45 minute showers or let all the ac outside. no accountability. same goes with cable. let the tenants of each unit decide what they want, and keep us out of it.
  14. the money comes from somewhere to pay that. it's either the tenants, or your social.
  15.
  16. Regarding Auston, he's not a brother. And it shows his character for him to blast my comments on facebook today. I'm not wasting any more time with that loser. He's not allowed at the house, and neither is any other brother who walked away from his commitments.
  17. One more antic from him and his pin is pulled. That's not how brothers treat each other.
  18.
  19. That budget will be the most helpful thing you can view as a chapter. It's not perfect, but it's close for now. Anything else you guys want, we're happy to provide to prove Auston's theory wrong that we aren't stealing from you.

We had originally hoped that brothers could live in the condos during construction. When we met with the GC he was completely against it. The condos will be in a fenced construction zone it is too dangerous plus jack hammers at 7:00 am etc. Plus ceilings torn out for sprinkler systems, we are having to move all furniture and art to storage. We let everybody know as soon as we found out and got brothers rooms at 2401 Longview if the wanted them.

You can have your personal feelings for Auston but to many of us he is a close friend and pledge brother. I would appreciate it if you could refrain from insulting him or any other brother in the future, at least to me.
  37. >
  38. > The main source of the distrust is the brothers lack of understanding, myself included, of how our financials work. The current view is that TAMC takes our money and then gives some of it back to us to use for social, house and yards, etc. However, everyone knows we pay around $50,000 ($500 per brother per month at around 100 brothers) with our dues each month plus the extra fees but we don't see it as much as we like. Some months we struggle with social for unknown reasons, other months we are given less then expected because we didn't meet alumni expectations. In a nutshell, we put large sums of money into this fraternity and we don't feel we get to really see where it is spent or how to ensure we maintain a steady amount each month. Rent on the house, insurances, fees and other expenses I know are present but we don't know how much that really affects the total amount. Most people see this equation, $50,000 (Dues) - $10,000 (Social) = $0 because alumni keep the rest. I know that's not how it works but that's the way it seems.
  39. >
  40. > Transparency is a word used by almost every brother in their speech when running for a governing board position. They want to make how our money is spent more transparent. The jokes of embezzlement and pyramid scheme have been thrown around, not just by Auston but by the whole chapter, because we truly don't know where our money goes.
  41. >
  42. > Further, there are a few non-money related issues brothers have had. I know brothers currently living at the condos were told they didn't have to pay utilities. and then were charged hundreds to cover the cable bill. After that they were told they might have to pay regular utilities like water and heat even though that was never agreed upon. Brothers that were supposed to live in the condos this coming year were told incredibly late that that was no longer an option. For now, those are the biggest issues I can think of. I could probably come up with more if I talked to a few other brothers.
  43. >
  44. > Sadly, every brother reacts differently when facing this issue. Many just sit back and say "Screw the Alumni" but there are a few of us who want to come up with a solution. In my opinion, if brothers can clearly see where their money or is going or even just have a few people truly understand how the TAMC/TAHB system works then a lot of the hostility and issues will be fixed.

  75. > There is something else I would like to address. I have been working closely with Auston Anon on getting these financials. He got the ball rolling with the communication but his inactivity has proven an issue. He and I weren't the only ones interested in the financials though. A multitude of active brothers have felt slighted by TAMC and TAHB on multiple occasions. We don't have a clear understanding of where our money goes, many brother have problems getting in contact with alumni unless they are a certain governing board member and a large group of brothers was told last minute that we could no longer live in the condos while also losing all of that revenue; these issues among others are the reasons for our distrust.
  76. >
  77. > From now on, feel free to communicate with me instead of Auston. However, your hostility toward him is grossly misplaced. He was trying to get the answers he deserves but you proceeded to insult him and threaten him instead. He may be inactive but he still cares enough about this fraternity to go out of his way to try and figure this situation out.

  86. My official request for records
  87.
  88.
  89. Jan,
  90. He's not a brother.
  91. Hayden Grimes, or any other active brother may request that. Mason McCormick and Jon Bopp are both working with Hayden to better understand our finances.
  92.
  93. Auston- you're a drug dealer. We owe you nothing. If you want to push this further, try.
  94. Why don't you put this email on blast on Facebook, too. Consider your pin pulled.
  95.
