Following the events of Alien vs. Predator, and the maturation of the chestburster that erupted from the body of Scar (the Predator that defeated the Alien Queen) into an adult Predalien, the Predator scout ship crashes in the woods of Gunnison County. A local, Buddy Benson, and his son, Sam, are hunting in the forest and witness the crash, but they are chased and are implanted with alien embryos by facehuggers along with several homeless people living in the sewers. Meanwhile another Predator lands seeking out the Alien and destroying evidence of their presence on Earth. The dwellers of the town find themselves in the middle of a battlefield between the two deadly extraterrestrial creatures, and the small group of survivors splits between the leadership of Sheriff Eddie Morales and the bad-boy Dallas Howard. Both have different opinions about the best means to escape from the beings.
Warring Alien and Predator races descend on a rural Colorado town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival.
well, i was so excited when the first AvP came out, then I found it was PG13, but oh well its AvP. and it was marginal at best, still good to see it finally got made in my opinion. So AvP-R comes out, its rated R already looking better.<br/><br/>and it was. it didn&#39;t need all of the gore it had, but it made feel more like a predator movie. also having the language in it too gave it the right tone. the fights were done well and acting was acceptable. but it still wasn&#39;t what AvP should be. i would have liked to see more aliens getting the best of different predators, instead of just one predator owning all the aliens. also the ending was predictable. IMO they should just use the plot from the first or second PC games.<br/><br/>better then the first, still needs some work.
This movie wasn&#39;t even good as a MOVIE. The gore wasn&#39;t gratuitous or even that entertaining, like the entire movie. Too much of people we didn&#39;t care about that were largely morons talking somberly and in cliché, too predictable in every respect, only one predator (that I&#39;m pretty sure would&#39;ve been killed far more quickly if the aliens hadn&#39;t attacked like they wanted to be shot/killed, and did little more than jump/growl at nothing/look neat). That comment pretty much summed up what I thought of the aliens too. Made AVP1 look like art, and you could easily take the 2nd Aliens movie and any one of the other Predator moves, stick &#39;em together and have something far better than this steaming pile of dogsh*t. It wasn&#39;t even entertaining, the &quot;gore&quot;/&quot;action&quot; was minimal and darkened to the extent you could barely make it out anyway, for the maybe 10-20mins that something in the vicinity of interesting actually happened. Nothing you couldn&#39;t get out of any of the other movies of either series (it was worse than any one of the Alien movies). I wouldn&#39;t care except that I&#39;m a fan of both series (even the worst of which were more entertaining than whatever this was supposed to be) and hate seeing them skimp on what could be an incredible series if they had writers/directors that knew anything about the previous movies/mythology, cared, had functioning brains (this would&#39;ve even been bad for a 90s movie), and any imaginative scope/vision beyond getting paid for something the marketing companies made look good so people would actually pay to see this junk.
The film's major draws are R-rated gore and some nice physical effects, proof that a man in a top-of-the-line monster suit can still be more effective than CGI.
