- Will this have a detrimental effect on the link juice from the original address, and if so, how do I overcome this? (I presume with a redirect of some sort)
- Since its redirect, just remove the ssl.
- No issues. You do a 301 redirect from the 80 to 443 ports.
- With apache/nginx is just a rewrite rule: https://www.tecmint.com/redirect-http-to-https-on-apache/
- With cpanel: https://blog.cpanel.com/force-https-redirection/
- Or just check with the panel you are just using
- Just make sure that after configuration when you type the HTTP site it automatically redirects to HTTPS
- so that still passes any link juice to the new HTTPS site?
- i think as i see
- I think you can just use a plugin for your site to handle those http and https requests - the plugin should automatically do the redirects for you, and the link juice should flow freely, as it is within your site. I'd go for https since, it makes things rather legit in the eyes of the search engine.
