- On a night just like this, if you care to believe,
- A story of a girl, set to save Christmas Eve.
- Though this tale is different, like so many claim,
- A girl who could stretch, a shape none could tame.
- Her name was Kamala, Ms Marvel to you and me,
- An Inhuman still in school, in the magical land of Jersey.
- With powers she must hide, to save all on campus,
- This is the story, of Kamala surviving……Krampus.
- As the sun went down, and the snow began to fall,
- Kamala stayed at home, wishing she was at the ball.
- “Hrmph!” she said, arms crossed and steaming mad.
- On house arrest she did detest, by a strict but loving dad.
- “My friends are all together, why can’t I join the fun!?”
- “Because my dear,” her father said, “Of that thing that’s on the run”
- She rolled her eyes and stomped her feet, hoping he didn’t remember,
- Of the mysterious creature that roamed the streets, since the first day of December.
- Rumors did spread of this fearsome beast, though proof remained obscure
- A great horned man cloaked in red, with a sack chained and secure.
- This mysterious visitor, a goat on hind legs
- Left nothing behind, except the smell of rotten eggs
- No one was hurt, at least not yet
- The Hairy Houdini, needing a trap to be set
- Kamala had tried, to capture this foe
- Nightly patrols on rooftops, but progress was slow
- “What could it be?” Kamala did ask
- “A late-night burglar, with a Halloween mask?”
- Whatever the case, she tried not to worry
- A harmless prankster, or an extravagant story
- But the thought refused to leave her brown head
- For stranger things have happened, like Avengers back from the dead
- Stuck in her room, she looked out her window
- Thinking of parties, and places she would go
- Trying to fight her current restriction,
- Kamala sat down and said “Guess I’ll read fanfiction…”
- Alas it was short lived, and did not pass the time
- The story she found involved her and some slime
- That was the straw that broke the camel’s back
- Kamala decided to go, at risk of parents flack.
- Dressing for snow, with her costume underneath
- She stretched out the window, with chattering teeth
- It wasn’t from cold or the howling wind
- It was from the unearthly feeling crawling over her skin
- From rooftop to rooftop, she walked towards her friends
- Not seeing the beast from behind, with a mission to cleanse.
- With stilt rubber legs, Kamala did soar
- Wind against her face, and the cold she tried to ignore
- After 6 ½ big steps, the party home was in view
- “Surely there’s treats! I’ll have just a few 😊”
- As sugarplums danced within her mind
- Kamala failed to see the demon from behind
- A tug from her scarf, and she landed on the ground
- Gazing above to see the monster she finally found
- The red cloaked goat man, stood above her all haughty
- With a angry skeletal finger, he bellowed out “Naughty!”
- Scuttling to her feet, she made a fearsome pose
- “How about you back off, before you get a fist to the nose?”
- The creature laughed, he laughed at her spirit
- “Krampus” he said, “My name, you should fear it!”
- Kamala looked confused, knowing not way to say
- “Okay weirdo, could we do this another day?”
- His chains did rustle, his eyes began to flare
- Only able to utter the words “You dare?!”
- With a cloven foot stomp, a tsunami of snow
- Sending dear little Kamala to the empty streets below
- The Krampus was quick, and always alert
- Kamala his target, to pound into the dirt
- Ms Marvel dodged his second attack
- Putting on her mask, nestled deep in her backpack
- “I know all naughty children, why try now to conceal?”
- “I’m getting in the zone, and wondering your deal”
- The Krampus threw down his chain covered sack
- Like an empty abyss, opened to reveal only black
- “It is my sworn charge to count the misbehaved,
- All month I have watched, recording the depraved”
- From with the sack, it startled to rustle
- Out tumbled twisted toys, his own hired muscle
- Like little gremlins, they swarmed our dear hero
- She made quick work of them, their numbers down to zero
- “That the best you have?” Ms Marvel did boast
- “Better run away now, before you are toast!”
- The Krampus was angry, letting loose a might howl
- Ms Marvel remained brave, apart from his odor most foul
- “Mind telling me why you’re picking on me tonight?”
- “Because young girl, you lost sight of what’s right”
- They fought, like a dance, under a street lamp glow
- Ms Marvel contemplating this accusatory foe
- “And what’s that mean?” Ms Marvel said, dodging a cloven hoof kick,
- “In case you haven’t noticed, being a hero is my shtick!”
- The Krampus snorted, his breath like a winter fog,
- “Then perhaps you’d like to explain your little nighttime jog?”
- The comment froze Ms Marvel, to rethink her current actions,
- Enough for Krampus to land a hit, the perfect little distraction
- “Okay I messed up, I should be at home, but is it really all that bad?”
- “Foolish child!” the goat man grunted, “You forsake the things you have!”
- With a single leap the Krampus flew, into the air,
- Landing on a chimney, saying “All will know despair!”
- “You’re all selfish creatures, allow me to demonstrate,”
- “In my hand a wind-up toy bomb, for little Timmy to detonate!”
- His wrinkly hand released his trick, down the chimney it went
- A frantic Kamala dove down after it, a tight squeezed smoky descent
- A dazed and dirty Ms Marvel, landed inside a stranger’s home
- Stretching her hands over the bomb, in a protective manicured dome
- With a muffled thump the bomb went off, as quiet as a bug
- She shook her hands from the stinging tingle, regretting the ruined rug
- Moments later she’s back on the roof, as graceful as Saint Nick,
- “Are you insane?!” Kamala cried “You holiday dipstick?!”
- “The child had it coming!” The Krampus did protest,
- “He broke his sisters doll, the little sinful pest!”
- Ms Marvel grabbed him with disgust, “The kid is only five!”
- The Krampus barked a nasty retort “There’s no excuse for the good he did not strive”
- Our hero began to realize, the beast had a narrowed eye,
- He saw naughtiness of course, but his standards were too high
- “Alright you crazy nutcracker, lets see what you can do”
- “I’m cold and getting tired of this, ready for round two”
- The two charged each other, a frightful wintry ballet,
- An impressive bout, but to residents it was just another day.
- The spirit used his magic, and conjured a wooden switch,
- Striking her backside, with a painful “SON OF A BI-“, “LANGUAGE!”
- Angered by this hit, a bright fire arouse from within,
- “Enough of this” Ms Marvel cried, “It’s time to embiggen!”
- The girl became a giant, a tower for all to see,
- Stomping on the nuisance that refused to let her be
- Panting and tired, our victor covered in soot,
- Received a bad feeling, from the rumbling underfoot
- The Krampus had grown in size, she had only made him stronger,
- Looking down upon his prey, indulging her no longer
- With a burly arm, Krampus struck, returning Ms Marvel to normal size,
- The holiday punisher was committed, to make New Jersey his prize
- His hand rose towards the pale moon, and thunder began to roar,
- The blizzard had become more fierce, like none had seen before
- “Tonight, man’s greed will soon be paid, a dark and terrible price”
- “By Christmas morning all shall be, imprisoned in a cage of ice!”
- As the maelstrom grew with each passing moment, and when all seemed lost,
- Our stretchy young maiden dressed in blue, regrouped amidst frost.
- “What do I do?” Kamala thought, hoping for a some clarity,
- It was then an idea hit her, a gamble based on charity.
- She grabbed her bag with much haste, and looking for a special possession,
- A personal treasure she kept always, some might call an obsession.
- “Excuse me!” Ms Marvel shouted, to her titanic holiday foe,
- “I’d like to give you something, before you bury us all in snow!”
- Krampus kneeled down, his interest was peaked,
- What strange words this young girl did speak.
- He played with his beard, and ear he did pick,
- Trying to see if this was all some trick.
- The rubbery lass revealed an old tattered cloth,
- Shredded and burned, not fit for a moth.
- “It’s a piece of costume from a hero of mine,”
- “Found after a battle, near Jersey’s coastline”
- “It means a lot to me, believe me its true”
- “But would you please accept this, as a gift from me to you?”
- The Krampus was moved, he took the tiny charm,
- Briefly feeling happy, but then quick to alarm.
- For you see The Krampus, like many, is bound by ancient laws,
- A human had shown to move past its many glaring flaws.
- This act of kindness was enough, Krampus’s strength had vanished,
- His toy sack came to life, and with that Krampus was banished.
- The storm and the spirit were quickly whisked away,
- Deep inside the chained toy bag, Ms Marvel had won the day.
- With a sigh of relief, Kamala collapsed,
- Not quite certain how much time had elapsed.
- For a moment or two, she gazed at the stars,
- This Christmas was certainly one for her memoirs
- She rose from the ground, to see the sack at her feet,
- A present she would give to the magician of Bleecker Street
- With all loose ends tied up, in a nice little bow,
- Kamala realized the place she must go.
- Sneaking back to her room, hoping none would discover,
- Alone at her desk, doing homework her cover
- Though the party raged on, it was now that she could see
- That the holidays are meant for one’s family
- She may not eat ham, or set up a tree,
- But now there’s no place that she’d rather be
- Kamala went downstairs, and gave her parents a hug,
- She brewed up some cocoa, with her Captain Marvel mug
- They told stories and laughed, making memories to remember,
- The story of an Avenger, who found new love for December.
