- GENERAL ITEM ASSEMBLY RULES
- Difficulty Rating: (DR)
- In the following passage, "unit" refers to the appropriate length of time, depending on whether the project is short, mid, or long term.
- The difficulty rating is the check the assembler must pass for each time period.
- EX: a DR of 10:
- If he rolls a 10 or greater (standard success), then the time remaining is reduced by 1 unit, as according to schedule.
- If he rolls a 9 or lower (standard failure), then during this unit of time no progress was made.
- If he succeeds by a margin of 3 or more (a 13 or greater--Exemplary Success), then 2 units of time are taken off the schedule; he made double progress this week.
- If he fails by a margin of 3 or more (a 7 or less--Severe Failure), then he damaged the progress already made; an additional unit of time is added to the schedule. Severe failures may not occur during the first unit of time.
- The Expert special ability may not be used on item assembly.
- ----
- Manpower Rating: (MR)
- 1 = Work rating times assume the presence of 1 person.
- 2 = Work rating times assume the presence of 2 people.
- etc.
- Doing Projects with less than the requisite manpower:
- For each 1 person less working on the project that the MP rating, the WR is doubled.
- ----
- Short-term Project:
- Work rating: (WR)
- 1 = 1 hour
- 2 = 2 hours
- etc.
- Mid-term Project:
- Work rating: (WR)
- 1 = 1 day
- 2 = 2 days
- etc.
- Long-term Project:
- Work rating: (WR)
- 1 = 1 week
- 2 = 2 weeks
- etc.
- ----
- SPECIAL EFFECTS:
- (All percents adjust the base value.)
- Poor tools: +25% time
- Adequate tools: +0% time
- Good tools: -10% time
- First Additional Manpower: -20% time
- (if MP rating is 3, then this means having an additional 3 people)
- Second Additional Manpower: -10% time
- (no additional manpowers may be applied)
- Investment of Nearly All Available Time:
- -20% (if applied to Base Manpower)
- -10% (if applied to First Additional Manpower)
- -5% (if applied to Second Additional Manpower
- EXAMPLE:
- Assembling a robotic arm: Long Term Project
- DR: 11
- MR: 1
- WR: 10
