  1. Hi Dia,
  2.
  3. I'm managing a game discord that is right now fielding its own tier list much like Gaijins did/does. I was wondering if I could get some insight on how you managed conversation revolving around the tier list. There is always a very vocal minority that would love to bash tier lists no matter what you do and I'm not very satisfied with how my server is managing that part of the community.

  5. You mean some people in your server are bashing your tier list work?
  6. musCLEMan01/04/2019
  7. I mean, that's a given lol
  8. How did you deal with those sort of people?
  9. Mute/kick/ban outright?
  10. Diamonit01/04/2019
  11. Well, it depends... If they are just here to shit on your tier list with obvious trolling and nothing constructive to say, I'd say it's up to you to ban / mute / restrict them from tier list channel access
  12. If it's just (very) vocal disagreements it's always worth a shot to try to reevaluate your own work and compromise with other's people analysis
  13. But in any case, reserve sanctions to obvious frequent and repetitive trolling. Banning people over simple Tier List disagreements, even if quite vocal, will just alienate the people who disagree with you and they will end up bashing / trolling
  14. Some people just hate tiers list, and although it's frustrating because it invalidates the work you put on it, they are entitled to their own view. So long as it's just a jab or two at you from time to time, it's better to just ignore.
  15. If someone really, really hates what you do and starts trolling as much as they can, you have two solutions, either make your Tier List outlive the trolls so they stop playing before you stop working on the Tier List, or put enough work on it until it becomes a reference used by so many people that someone else will defend your TL for you
  16. So at the end of the day, gotta ignore the trolls and know you're better than them
  17. musCLEMan01/04/2019
  18. I see. Thanks a lot.
  19.
  20. Currently on my server the writers are asking for sanctions against any dissenting opinions even when presented respectfully through the dozen of hoops in place ("we're not accepting discussion if it's not formatted correctly," etc.) And quelling any discussion of the tier list outside of the channel (someone in #general asked and disagreed about a rating and immediately got muted/kicked)
  21. It's a bit of mess and I'd like to bring all of the team in line.
  22. This really helps, Dia, thank you!
  23. Diamonit01/04/2019
  24. No problem. In my opinion, it's always worth listening to other's people experience regarding ratings. You don't have to agree with them, but keeping an open mind and say that you'll keep what they say in mind when you reevaluate the character is enough to satisfy most people
  25. Sometimes their opinion are not relevant, but sometimes they are, and it takes some humility to admit that you were wrong or lack the experience.
  26. It's especially true for writers who have not reached the end game.
  27. musCLEMan01/04/2019
  28. That was surprisingly spot on, HAHA!
  29. The lead writer isn't technically in the end game :GWvickyKannaPeek:
  30. Thank you once again, Dia.
  31. Diamonit01/04/2019
  32. Yeah that can be a problem, unless they frequent a lot of end game people
  33. no problem, don't hesitate to hit me up if you wanna ask me anything
