Backstory: Hailing from a Marine household, red was basically destined to become a marine one day just like his mom and dad. Matter of fact, becoming a pirate didn't even seem like an option because from an early age he was told so much bad things about pirates that any child who heard these stories would be scared off from the very name much less to come with any ideas of becoming ones. But not red, he certainly was not the average child. Everything about these stories brought a wide smile to his face whenever he heard them, he was so intrigued by the gruesome things that pirates do to get what they want and the battles they went through for the sake of conquering the seas and proving dominance. To him, being a pirate just sounded like a lot more fun than being a regular marine solder that ends of being nothing more than a statistic to show how much a pirate has slain. As a pirate, he could do what he wanted to do and enjoy his life to the fullest without restrictions but being a marine meant following rules and all kinds of lame stuff.

However Red did love his parents and he wanted to make them proud so he simply agreed that pirates were bad and moved on to pursue his parents dreams for him. However one day changed all that and set him on the path to becoming the terrifying captain he was today. When he was just age 9, him and his parents were enjoying a sunday dinner with some other family friends as guest before suddenly on the tiny island that they resided a ship crashed right into it causing the entire island to quake. Everyone shocked from the sudden boom would make their way outside to see a massive ship shadowing not just the house but the entire island.

Red stared with awe in his face, not fear but admiration for the mighty ship because he knew exactly what it was and who it belonged to. It was pirates.

A group of pirates slid down some ropes thrown and walked up to confront his parents saying "You know what we're here for. Pass it up and we'll make sure to leave at least the child alive." At this point, even red who loved the pirates so much was becoming a bit scared and suddenly those stories seemed a lot less fun at this point. His mom would pull him close to her and he'd wrap his arms around her legs trying to find some form of security in his mom.

His father would turn around nodding to his wife and immediately she understood, she spoke up back in response to the pirates demand. "Fine, I'll go get it and come back." But the pirates weren't fools, they knew this could very well be the marines trying to escape once again with their goods so they attempted to follow but Red's father and his friends weren't having it, they pull out their guns and began shoot thus triggering the pirates to react with brute force as well. While they were holding off the pirates, Red and his mother were now in a walked down the steps leading to a secret room hidden underneath the house itself. Red looked at his mother with swollen eyes from the tears swelling up and snot running out his nose, he wasn't sure how to handle this type of situation after all he was just nine and there was nothing he could do to help. His mother would smile and ruffle his scruff red hair and simply tell him to not worry while fiddling around in her pocket then pulling out a key. She'd use it to open a box that held a weird shaped orange fruit. His mother simply looked at him and sighed obviously hating the fact that it had to come to this but she spoke to him trying her best to explain what was going on and fast. "Listen to me and listen carefully, y'see this? This is a devil fruit, a fruit that grants whoever eats it a strange power that in the wrong hands can lead to mass destruction. . .those guys out there? They are the wrong hands and son, I need you to be the right hands. I know this responsibility is a bit much to place on you considering your literally nine but you need to take this fruit and take the door to your left and leave, don't turn back and don't eat the fruit until your on land because if you eat that fruit and go into water you will die. It's a lot to take in, I know so don't try to understand it. Just do what I tell you to do and you'll be fine honey. Be strong for me and dad okay? Our time is up and now it's your time to show the world what your made of, I believe in you and no matter what you become, I'll always be proud as long as you do your best in it." Tears began running down his face harder than before as he took the fruit from his mothers hands and began to turn back to the stairs they came down from. She'd look at him one last time as she began breaking down as well and walked up the stairs to face the pirates.

Red needed to go before the pirates came down there so he turned to the door and exited making his way to land never to see his parents again.

A couple years pass by and Red was now a sixteen year old pirate captain who took over his first island and was rapidly blazing through the ranks of the sea to become of the hottest rookie pirates around but one may wonder why he became a pirate considering all they took from him, wouldn't that create a resentment for them? Or was he so cold hearted that he didn't care and his admiration for the pirates was still at an all time high? It was neither, he simply wanted revenge on those pirates and with the marines he wouldn't have enough freedom to track them down and lay waste to them with the same fruit they lay waste to his family in order to obtain. The best way to catch a pirate was a pirate, with his rapid rise to fame they'd find about him and the fruit he was using to get where he was at there was no doubt they'd come looking for him and then. . .

He'd finally get to burn them all to ashes once and for all.

Effects on the island's environment and society: *Despite being a pirate, he was a really kind and gentle kid so even after taking over the island he didn't try to impose fear as a matter of fact he made their lives better because he made sure that anyone who lacked food was well fed and he constantly distributed his earnings out to the needy.

*Using his powers the trash at the Junkyard was all burnt leaving it completely empty and making the area overall less polluted and disease ridden.

*Most were free to do what they want under his supervision, as long as pirates weren't killing innocents he had no problem with stray pirates visiting as a matter of fact he often would try to recruit visitor.

*However there has a been times where pirates attempted to take over his island or even worse, attempt to harm innocents and it never ends well. Due to not having full control over the destruction his power caused he did have a issue with going all out because once he loses it, he is out to turn everything to ashes and the villages and forests are normally the ones suffering the most from his wrath.
