  17. [2012-03-20 16:02:44] <Gil> Okay! Evening all! Thanks for coming!
  18. [2012-03-20 16:02:44] <Risk_Breaker> I'm going to be afk for 5 minutes or so
  19. [2012-03-20 16:02:54] <Gil> The main purpose of the meeting tonight is to discuss the proposals from our forums, and then move into a voting phase to decide what we're going with.
  20. [2012-03-20 16:02:56] <GSGM> hello everyone
  21. [2012-03-20 16:03:03] <Gil> The idea is, we'll have 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours of discussion purely around the proposals this evening, and then there'll be a vote open in the forums for 24 hours.
  22. [2012-03-20 16:03:10] <doomed1> DESIGN GUYS, JOIN #believe.design
  23. [2012-03-20 16:03:11] <Gil> Fingers crossed, we should know what we're going to move forward with on Thursday.
  24. [2012-03-20 16:03:23] <Gil> Before we start discussion, I'd like to just ask for help - we are throwing our new web presence up as quickly as possible. Next focus is on the wiki at wiki.believe.vg - we really need someone to take this up and help the writing team work on it... it most definitely needs to be skinned away from the existing defaults :)
  25. [2012-03-20 16:03:34] <S0N0S> already started a channel, #believe.vg-design
  26. [2012-03-20 16:03:52] <doomed1> bah, you're no fun
  27. [2012-03-20 16:04:01] <GSGM> join the writing team channel here #believe/writing
  28. [2012-03-20 16:04:06] <Gil> so if you want to jump in on the wiki
  29. [2012-03-20 16:04:10] <Gil> email me - [email protected]
  30. [2012-03-20 16:04:20] <CrunchyFrog> we have a sfx channel?
  31. [2012-03-20 16:04:21] <Gil> or just go ahead and edit it, I suppose
  32. [2012-03-20 16:04:23] * Gil shrugs
  33. [2012-03-20 16:04:30] <Gil> Okay, so on to the discussion...
  34. [2012-03-20 16:04:34] <grizznkev_> uhhhhh nope, just me Gabe Newell
  35. [2012-03-20 16:04:38] <Gil> Before we discuss the proposals, I would like to ask people to stay on topic. The channel is unmuted for all, but I will have to mute anybody who consistently goes off topic as we have a lot of proposals to discuss and not much time to do it in.
  36. [2012-03-20 16:04:51] <Gil> Remember, the point of tonight is not to make a final decision but just to discuss the proposals with each other. AFTER the meeting, the vote will go up on the forums and then you can pick the one you like the best.
  37. [2012-03-20 16:05:02] <Gil> The following is on-topic for this meeting:
  38. [2012-03-20 16:05:06] <Gil> The Proposals listed in the proposals forum
  39. [2012-03-20 16:05:10] <Gil> Game Mechanics
  40. [2012-03-20 16:05:13] <Gil> Game Ideas
  41. [2012-03-20 16:05:17] <Gil> *Basic* Story Ideas
  42. [2012-03-20 16:05:21] <Gil> The following is off-topic for this meeting:
  43. [2012-03-20 16:05:25] <Gil> Any Proposals not listed in the proposals forum
  44. [2012-03-20 16:05:30] <Gil> The best tools to write code/make music/draw gfx
  45. [2012-03-20 16:05:35] <Gil> The fact that you don't like the name 'project:BELIEVE'
  46. [2012-03-20 16:05:45] <Gil> Whether you feel a proposal is either being too ambitious or not ambitious enough
  47. [2012-03-20 16:05:53] <Gil> ( Let the design team worry about that, after we've picked an idea! )
  48. [2012-03-20 16:06:02] <Gil> okay! So let's jump onto the first proposal: light vs Dark ( http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=42.0 )
  49. [2012-03-20 16:06:13] <Gil> anybody have any strong feelings on that proposal?
  50. [2012-03-20 16:06:21] -->| georaldc ([email protected]) has joined #believe.vg-meeting
  51. [2012-03-20 16:06:30] <CrunchyFrog> I think it's a cool idea, one that will need some iteration, but cool nonetheless
  52. [2012-03-20 16:06:33] <Spoo> I just read it. I think it makes a strong point for unique art styles.
  53. [2012-03-20 16:06:41] <CrunchyFrog> andone that sould be relatively easy for coding
  54. [2012-03-20 16:06:56] <GSGM> I dig the concept. But it mainly serves as a mechanic
  55. [2012-03-20 16:07:45] <RavenH2> Well, I think we have to come up with more ways than one to play between dark and light
  56. [2012-03-20 16:07:46] <Prophet_Steve> I think there are plenty of things to do with the mechanic to turn it into a concept
  57. [2012-03-20 16:07:55] <victor_prime> I like the concept, could be like dark souls in some way but different
  58. [2012-03-20 16:07:57] <RavenH2> I mean, we have to be very picky with the puzzles
  59. [2012-03-20 16:07:58] <doomed1> Light Vs Dark was admitted to be a sort of weak, last second thing. The mechanic is certainly usable, but I would rather not make a whole game around it
  60. [2012-03-20 16:08:06] <doomed1> Considering how many other games already have anyway
  61. [2012-03-20 16:08:06] <RavenH2> but it's a damn great concept
  62. [2012-03-20 16:08:11] <doomed1> It's a mechanic
  63. [2012-03-20 16:08:41] <Anedar> But it's a good mechanic to base a game on imo
  64. [2012-03-20 16:08:47] <Spoo> If there's anything to take away from it, it's that popular games today use unique art styles both to increase the utility of the player and to lighten the complexity of actually making the game.
  65. [2012-03-20 16:09:12] <wwydt> It is an interesting mechanic. We can start with this mechanic and build upon it, and I wouldn't have any objections
  66. [2012-03-20 16:09:24] <itsjoncharles> like I said at the top of post, my pitch as more directed at generating *ideas* rather then a whole game around just it
  67. [2012-03-20 16:09:32] <Spoo> I think it's a lesson that could be applied to any of our potential projects.
  68. [2012-03-20 16:09:56] <doomed1> I tend to disagree in our case since it's been done to death and back. Light/Darkness puzzles can be integrated in just about any game with "supernatural" themes, and even those without. This isn't something to chuck, but it's not really a starting point.
  69. [2012-03-20 16:09:58] <RavenH2> so...let's say...we could add the light/dark mechanic to other game?
  70. [2012-03-20 16:10:00] <CrunchyFrog> just having a mechanic where there is a dichotomy between two world types
  71. [2012-03-20 16:10:03] <Gil> wwydt an interesting point - if we went with this one, I'd see it as something where we'd design the mechanic and then almost build it up as we went along
  72. [2012-03-20 16:10:27] <Gil> I don't know how comfortable people would be starting something with no definite end goal though
  73. [2012-03-20 16:10:28] <SirJonthe> scope creep, Gil
  74. [2012-03-20 16:10:28] <CrunchyFrog> yeah, you'd really need to play around with it first
  75. [2012-03-20 16:10:30] <Prophet_Steve> Well, I can imagine in one of the other projects having the player move slower/tumble/smaller view of vision in darkness
  76. [2012-03-20 16:10:34] <Prophet_Steve> And isn't that hard to do
  77. [2012-03-20 16:10:46] <GSGM> it could be a prticular level's mechanic
  78. [2012-03-20 16:10:51] <GSGM> *particular
  79. [2012-03-20 16:10:52] <CrunchyFrog> true
  80. [2012-03-20 16:11:07] <S0N0S> Despite it's simplicity, I think we could easily build on top of it. It's a fairly open concept as is, so it's hard to say now which direction we should go with it.
  81. [2012-03-20 16:11:09] <RavenH2> we could add it as a mechanic (if it fit's to another game)
  82. [2012-03-20 16:11:18] <GSGM> yesa
  83. [2012-03-20 16:11:23] <S0N0S> I like the idea, but I do not think it is a strong idea.
  84. [2012-03-20 16:11:24] <GSGM> *yes
  85. [2012-03-20 16:11:38] <CrunchyFrog> agreed, it's one piece of a larger design, but not really a foundation
  86. [2012-03-20 16:11:48] <GSGM> btw reminder: somene should be keeping logs
  87. [2012-03-20 16:11:53] <Gil> we are keeping logs
  88. [2012-03-20 16:11:54] <doomed1> I always do
  89. [2012-03-20 16:11:54] <Gil> :)
  90. [2012-03-20 16:11:57] <grizznkev_> Yeah. This isn't really an entire game idea, as I'm seeing it. But I am fond of the concept and I could easily see it being applied to something else.
  91. [2012-03-20 16:11:58] <GSGM> ok
  92. [2012-03-20 16:12:07] <Spoo> At this stage, where we ideally want both an insight into mechanics and a games A-Z, I don't see that project as a strong contender.
  93. [2012-03-20 16:12:08] <Gil> okay I need to jump in really quickly
  94. [2012-03-20 16:12:12] <Gil> and I'm going to break my own rule here
  95. [2012-03-20 16:12:16] <Gil> this is going to be slightly off topic
  96. [2012-03-20 16:12:17] <S0N0S> As I said, I like the idea, but we need something more solid at this point.
  97. [2012-03-20 16:12:26] <Gil> I've just realised that the polls option will only let me set 5 options
  98. [2012-03-20 16:12:35] <CrunchyFrog> make 2 polls?
  99. [2012-03-20 16:12:38] <Gil> and we now have 12 options
  100. [2012-03-20 16:12:40] <GSGM> add a second poll named part 2
  101. [2012-03-20 16:12:41] <Gil> so that would be 3 polls
  102. [2012-03-20 16:12:43] <CrunchyFrog> 3 polls
  103. [2012-03-20 16:12:43] <itsjoncharles> do top five options?
  104. [2012-03-20 16:12:46] <doomed1> So we choose the 5 best realized pitches.
  105. [2012-03-20 16:12:52] <Gil> Okay so how about we do this?
  106. [2012-03-20 16:12:57] <Gil> we have 3 polls, choose one from each
  107. [2012-03-20 16:13:02] <GSGM> agree with doomed1
  108. [2012-03-20 16:13:02] <Gil> and then we'll run a poll with the top 3 ideas
  109. [2012-03-20 16:13:07] <Gil> thursday - friday
  110. [2012-03-20 16:13:11] <Gil> would everyone be okay with that?
  111. [2012-03-20 16:13:18] <CrunchyFrog> sure
  112. [2012-03-20 16:13:22] <GSGM> Or
  113. [2012-03-20 16:13:23] <doomed1> Again, we should just whittle them down here
  114. [2012-03-20 16:13:31] <SirJonthe> agree with doomed1
  115. [2012-03-20 16:13:35] <GSGM> we today we could choose the best 5
  116. [2012-03-20 16:13:38] <GSGM> and go from there
  117. [2012-03-20 16:13:40] <Spoo> I agree with doomed as well
  118. [2012-03-20 16:13:43] <itsjoncharles> I'd do it here because it's too complicated, imo, to do multiple polls
  119. [2012-03-20 16:13:44] <GSGM> much less complicated
  120. [2012-03-20 16:13:50] <Gil> okay, so you guys want to pick 5 at the end of the meeting and have those in the poll?
  121. [2012-03-20 16:13:56] <itsjoncharles> for sure
  122. [2012-03-20 16:13:57] <S0N0S> Randomize the polls, perhaps, but that's not ideal. I prefer to narrow it here, then vote.
  123. [2012-03-20 16:13:58] <Spoo> Yes
  124. [2012-03-20 16:14:00] <GSGM> yeah
  125. [2012-03-20 16:14:00] <Risk_Breaker> yes
  126. [2012-03-20 16:14:01] <Gil> okay I'm happy to go with that
  127. [2012-03-20 16:14:03] <RavenH2> yes
  128. [2012-03-20 16:14:08] <doomed1> I really think that if we can come down to the best ideas we can avoid splitting the vote between a bunch of different games.
  129. [2012-03-20 16:14:10] <CrunchyFrog> yeah i suppose it is more eficient
  130. [2012-03-20 16:14:22] <Gil> here's a late entry then - a Bit.Trip Inspired RPG (http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=39.0)
  131. [2012-03-20 16:14:40] <Gil> it appeared in the last 30 minutes so you may not have had a chance to look at it
  132. [2012-03-20 16:14:42] <Gil> so go check it out
  133. [2012-03-20 16:14:48] <Gil> and let's pick the bones of it
  134. [2012-03-20 16:14:56] <CrunchyFrog> this was my submission, so I guess if you guys have any questions you can direct em at me
  135. [2012-03-20 16:14:59] <doomed1> It's already been done
  136. [2012-03-20 16:15:08] <RavenH2> I discussed this one whit crunchyfrog
  137. [2012-03-20 16:15:10] <doomed1> http://www.playiridium.com/games
  138. [2012-03-20 16:15:11] <Anedar> It sounds pretty much exactly like Sequence
  139. [2012-03-20 16:15:28] <doomed1> ^Which is exactly what I was thinking when I read it
  140. [2012-03-20 16:15:30] <Risk_Breaker> it sounds too much like sequence for my tastes, as much as I like rhythm games
  141. [2012-03-20 16:15:59] <wwydt> Hmm... It's a nice idea, but I'd personally prefer a different option
  142. [2012-03-20 16:16:02] <itsjoncharles> haven't played Sequence so I can't comment, unfortunately
  143. [2012-03-20 16:16:04] <georaldc> Was sequence a traditional rpg?
  144. [2012-03-20 16:16:06] <GSGM> Rhythm games are not my cup of tea really...
  145. [2012-03-20 16:16:18] <CrunchyFrog> sequence was more of a linear dungeon crawl
  146. [2012-03-20 16:16:24] <Spoo> It sounds closer to Mother 3
  147. [2012-03-20 16:16:26] <CrunchyFrog> this would be more open world traditional RPG
  148. [2012-03-20 16:16:32] <Anedar> I do like the idea of a rpg with another genre for combat, like sequence or puzzle quest does
  149. [2012-03-20 16:16:33] <Spoo> With its rythm-based fighting
  150. [2012-03-20 16:16:37] <Prophet_Steve> It can be more of an "abtract" game then a hard rhythem game
  151. [2012-03-20 16:16:40] <grizznkev_> I always had this idea that rhythm games would be difficult to program, though I really have no clue. Is it any harder to make a rhythm game than something else?
  152. [2012-03-20 16:16:49] <doomed1> I don't mind rhythm elements, but like RPG elements, I hesitate to use them lightly
  153. [2012-03-20 16:16:56] <georaldc> Yeah, sounds like Mother
  154. [2012-03-20 16:16:56] <GSGM> and not everyone can "do" rhythm based battles
  155. [2012-03-20 16:17:05] <Spoo> Like me. lol
  156. [2012-03-20 16:17:21] <S0N0S> The design seems a bit...all over the place. Not to mention, it seems like it would require a lot of time spent on balancing and art assests. A more simpler idea would be ideal.
  157. [2012-03-20 16:17:33] <GSGM> what I want to say is that rhythm games are kind of a niche genre
  158. [2012-03-20 16:17:41] <doomed1> Indeed
  159. [2012-03-20 16:17:50] <CrunchyFrog> Guitar hero anyone?
  160. [2012-03-20 16:17:58] <CrunchyFrog> but i suppose nowadays yea
  161. [2012-03-20 16:18:01] <Gil> okay
  162. [2012-03-20 16:18:16] <doomed1> two down. Who's next? :P
  163. [2012-03-20 16:18:17] <Gil> the next proposal was one of the first ones we got after the last meeting
  164. [2012-03-20 16:18:29] <Gil> my name is on it, on the forums but it came from doomed1 originally
  165. [2012-03-20 16:18:34] <Gil> I just copy/pasted it across to the new forums :)
  166. [2012-03-20 16:18:42] <Gil> Project Space Adventure ( http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=12.0 )
  167. [2012-03-20 16:18:44] <Spoo> And forgot to copy and paste mine!
  168. [2012-03-20 16:18:54] <Gil> Spoo I did? :(
  169. [2012-03-20 16:19:02] <Spoo> lol, yeah. But it's okay
  170. [2012-03-20 16:19:04] <grizznkev_> This one I really really liked.
  171. [2012-03-20 16:19:08] <Gil> shit sorry :(
  172. [2012-03-20 16:19:20] <GSGM> I like this one
  173. [2012-03-20 16:19:21] <CrunchyFrog> the left-click to move thing seems a bit antiquated, why not use wasd?
  174. [2012-03-20 16:19:26] <Spoo> So, I'm really all in with Project Space Adventure.
  175. [2012-03-20 16:19:40] <doomed1> It came as a sort of summation of the guys who were tapped for design. It's sort of a combination between a survival game, a metroidvania type game, and a point and click adventure game.
  176. [2012-03-20 16:19:44] <grizznkev_> Yeah, I'm not totally with the controls, but the overall concept is really appealing.
  177. [2012-03-20 16:19:55] <Spoo> I think the idea needs to be SMALLER, but I like it.
  178. [2012-03-20 16:19:58] <doomed1> The control ideas I had were inspired by Magicka
  179. [2012-03-20 16:19:58] <Risk_Breaker> it's one of my favourites as well, precisely because it mixes a lot of the stuff I would like
  180. [2012-03-20 16:19:59] <GSGM> I am not sure about if the different gaming mechanics/genres will merge properly
  181. [2012-03-20 16:19:59] <NetTime> I like this one the best so far
  182. [2012-03-20 16:20:07] <doomed1> And the idea can be scaled as necessary
  183. [2012-03-20 16:20:09] <Anedar> The controls sounds like a nice variaton, sort of like how penumbra did
  184. [2012-03-20 16:20:21] <SirJonthe> This one definitely makes my top 5
  185. [2012-03-20 16:20:26] <Gil> this reminds me of a bunch of old BBC Model B games - Stryker's Run, Codename: Droid, Citadel even (that's not a bad thing by the way)
  186. [2012-03-20 16:20:34] <GSGM> top 5 for me too
  187. [2012-03-20 16:20:36] <doomed1> P&C merges with everything. :P
  188. [2012-03-20 16:20:39] <CrunchyFrog> so it sounds like Deus Ex in 2D
  189. [2012-03-20 16:20:40] <Spoo> I was thinking of like Flashback
  190. [2012-03-20 16:20:45] <Risk_Breaker> I like the mix of a clear setting, defined gameplay and good oportunities to do cool stuff
  191. [2012-03-20 16:20:51] <Spoo> Out of this World, with click + point.
  192. [2012-03-20 16:20:52] <RavenH2> I think this one gives us a lot of room to play with different things
  193. [2012-03-20 16:21:00] <itsjoncharles> seems like the most fleshed-out idea
  194. [2012-03-20 16:21:40] <GSGM> so I think we found 1/5
  195. [2012-03-20 16:21:47] <Gil> I like the idea
  196. [2012-03-20 16:21:47] <itsjoncharles> setting's pretty generic, but if you're pitching it as an open slate than that's interesting
  197. [2012-03-20 16:21:49] <Spoo> Certainly in my top 5.
  198. [2012-03-20 16:21:52] <Gil> but
  199. [2012-03-20 16:21:52] <georaldc> I like how its open in the sense that we can add, remove what we think will work or not
  200. [2012-03-20 16:21:56] <Gil> and I'm playing devil's advocate here
  201. [2012-03-20 16:22:00] <Gil> so don't take it personally
  202. [2012-03-20 16:22:03] <doomed1> Yeah, we can play with the setting no problem.
  203. [2012-03-20 16:22:14] <doomed1> Go for it Gil, give us your worst
  204. [2012-03-20 16:22:15] <Gil> does the world really need another metroidvania?
  205. [2012-03-20 16:22:17] <Risk_Breaker> the art style changing helps with that itsjoncharles, or what doomed says
  206. [2012-03-20 16:22:26] <doomed1> Well, it's not a metroidvania in the traditional sense
  207. [2012-03-20 16:22:26] <Gil> it seems to me that last year, every indie game seemed to be tower defense
  208. [2012-03-20 16:22:30] <Anedar> The setting could be done great, exploring a desert space station, uncovering what happened etc
  209. [2012-03-20 16:22:32] <Risk_Breaker> I think it would be more of a P%C than metroidvania?
  210. [2012-03-20 16:22:34] <Gil> and this year, everyone wants to do a metroidvania
  211. [2012-03-20 16:22:34] <itsjoncharles> yeah, exactly
  212. [2012-03-20 16:22:37] <Spoo> I agree with Gil in that, I would like it to be a strict adventure game.
  213. [2012-03-20 16:22:37] <Gil> that would be my only concern
  214. [2012-03-20 16:22:49] <Risk_Breaker> yes, more adventure, less castletroid
  215. [2012-03-20 16:22:52] <CrunchyFrog> So we're talking more monkey island style?
  216. [2012-03-20 16:22:56] <doomed1> The only thing it really resembles metroidvania is the level exploration progression.
  217. [2012-03-20 16:22:57] <Risk_Breaker> that's how I imagine the game anyway
  218. [2012-03-20 16:22:58] <Anedar> Sounds more like Another World than metroidvania to me
  219. [2012-03-20 16:22:59] <Gil> again, don't take that personally, I'm just trying to provoke discussion
  220. [2012-03-20 16:23:01] <Spoo> Hence, it needs to be smaller. But it's fundamentally solid.
  221. [2012-03-20 16:23:03] <S0N0S> Do metroidvanias have P&C-type puzzles?
  222. [2012-03-20 16:23:14] <georaldc> nope
  223. [2012-03-20 16:23:22] <georaldc> I don't think so
  224. [2012-03-20 16:23:28] <S0N0S> Think of it as a twist on a tired formula.
  225. [2012-03-20 16:23:33] <CrunchyFrog> but a metroidvania is also too fast paced for P&C to work terribly well
  226. [2012-03-20 16:23:39] <itsjoncharles> I think it could be awesome as an adventure game, or at least its mechanics perhaps in a smaller portion of the game
  227. [2012-03-20 16:23:41] <RavenH2> Thing is... exploring derelict spaceship... already done a 1.000.000 times
  228. [2012-03-20 16:23:46] <CrunchyFrog> that too
  229. [2012-03-20 16:23:47] <Spoo> An adventure click + point with stealth segements is how I understood it.
  230. [2012-03-20 16:23:53] <RavenH2> we have the chance to explore somethign different
  231. [2012-03-20 16:24:00] <RavenH2> story wise, of course
  232. [2012-03-20 16:24:04] <S0N0S> Well, it's like modern RPGs. YOu have shooter sections, then you have dialog trees. I think the two could be made to work well together.
  233. [2012-03-20 16:24:09] <itsjoncharles> re: setting, atmosphere is the most important tbh
  234. [2012-03-20 16:24:09] <Spoo> It's space. We can have any setting we like.
  235. [2012-03-20 16:24:10] <doomed1> It's not metroidvania paced. It's actually P&C paced. Like I said, it's the PROGRESSION that resembles metroidvania, not the interaction.
  236. [2012-03-20 16:24:16] <Gil> it sounds *very* similar to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exile_(1988_video_game) - have you guys heard of that?
  237. [2012-03-20 16:24:23] <victor_prime> stealh elements wont work in adventure like game
  238. [2012-03-20 16:24:38] <Spoo> victor -- they can if it's trial and error based
  239. [2012-03-20 16:24:43] <GSGM> I'd prefer a more P&C approach
  240. [2012-03-20 16:24:48] <victor_prime> seems unfit to me
  241. [2012-03-20 16:24:57] <itsjoncharles> is it 2D or 3D?
  242. [2012-03-20 16:24:59] <Spoo> You seem unfit to me!
  243. [2012-03-20 16:25:02] <Spoo> lol jk
  244. [2012-03-20 16:25:07] <RavenH2> Sounds a lot like Out of this World (but with dialog)
  245. [2012-03-20 16:25:08] <Prophet_Steve> 2D I assume
  246. [2012-03-20 16:25:11] <Anedar> It could work if you keep them seperated and don't try to do it at the same time
  247. [2012-03-20 16:25:12] <CrunchyFrog> I'm still not seeing how it's a metroidvania progression
  248. [2012-03-20 16:25:21] <Spoo> I really like Out of this world/Flashback type games.
  249. [2012-03-20 16:25:26] <S0N0S> 2D sidescrolling.
  250. [2012-03-20 16:25:31] <Spoo> I think this sounds like one, but with p+c
  251. [2012-03-20 16:25:37] <victor_prime> exploration could be first persion view
  252. [2012-03-20 16:25:44] <Gil> doomed1 to clarify the metroidvania progression, do you mean with levelling up and stuff?
  253. [2012-03-20 16:25:55] <S0N0S> First person > 3D. We're not doing 3d.
  254. [2012-03-20 16:26:02] <Prophet_Steve> I assume, get items/power ups to gain access to new stages
  255. [2012-03-20 16:26:03] <doomed1> No, aquiring equipment, doubling back, and getting into a new area.
  256. [2012-03-20 16:26:05] <SirJonthe> I wouldn't mind a metroidvania. Sure, it's been done, but who cares?
  257. [2012-03-20 16:26:14] <Gil> okay
  258. [2012-03-20 16:26:15] <CrunchyFrog> but thats just a P&C
  259. [2012-03-20 16:26:17] <itsjoncharles> yeah, atmosphere is definitely important in 2D. so bare that in mind, because you don't have the flexibility like in 3D
  260. [2012-03-20 16:26:21] <Spoo> Yeah lol.
  261. [2012-03-20 16:26:21] <georaldc> Wait, you point and click your character around metroid like levels?
  262. [2012-03-20 16:26:22] <Gil> I'm going to push us along to the next one, because the clock is ticking :)
  263. [2012-03-20 16:26:28] <Spoo> Metroidvania stole p+c mechanics
  264. [2012-03-20 16:26:28] <Prophet_Steve> No
  265. [2012-03-20 16:26:33] <Spoo> not the other way around :D
  266. [2012-03-20 16:26:47] <Gil> Next up: Project Downgrade (http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=38.0)
  267. [2012-03-20 16:26:54] <CrunchyFrog> its just get this thing to unlock another thing but anyway
  268. [2012-03-20 16:26:54] <victor_prime> <S0N0S> First person > 3D. We're not doing 3d.<<<im talking 2D first person view which can be done
  269. [2012-03-20 16:26:55] <doomed1> Yeah, sorta. We can work with the controls and the fine tunings of the mechancis
  270. [2012-03-20 16:27:11] <doomed1> 2D first person discussion is for another time
  271. [2012-03-20 16:27:17] <Gil> agreed doomed1
  272. [2012-03-20 16:27:20] <Gil> Project Downgrade....
  273. [2012-03-20 16:27:21] <Risk_Breaker> I like some of the ideas, but not enough to entirely base a game on the downgrade mechanic
  274. [2012-03-20 16:27:27] <Prophet_Steve> I partly like the downgrade idea
  275. [2012-03-20 16:27:28] <RavenH2> well
  276. [2012-03-20 16:27:31] <CrunchyFrog> Downgrade i think is cool in giving the player an earned sense of choice
  277. [2012-03-20 16:27:32] <Gil> I actually thought the downgrade idea was a very novel idea
  278. [2012-03-20 16:27:40] <Prophet_Steve> But as I mentioned in the thread, I don't want to punish the player for progressing
  279. [2012-03-20 16:27:44] <Gil> and I love the way that the player decides how their character progresses
  280. [2012-03-20 16:27:45] <NetTime> yeah the ability losing is interesting to me
  281. [2012-03-20 16:27:47] <RavenH2> we can use the mechanic in the "ending" part of another game.. how about that?
  282. [2012-03-20 16:27:48] <doomed1> Project Downgrade: I can get into this one, because it's a novel idea, but it would be very difficult to properly balance
  283. [2012-03-20 16:27:50] <Gil> rather than just being given things
  284. [2012-03-20 16:27:52] <Risk_Breaker> I like the choosing part, I like the idea of changing gameplay and I like the concept
  285. [2012-03-20 16:27:52] <GSGM> and gives gravity to the player's choices
  286. [2012-03-20 16:27:55] <CrunchyFrog> I don't think it should autolevel up everything
  287. [2012-03-20 16:27:59] <Risk_Breaker> yeah that would be cool RavenH2
  288. [2012-03-20 16:27:59] <SirJonthe> There is a lot of balancing work that needs to be done to get this to work from a gameplay standpoint
  289. [2012-03-20 16:28:08] <doomed1> One thing we CAN do is make a late game stage based around this progression mechanic, however.
  290. [2012-03-20 16:28:08] <CrunchyFrog> I think the points from one ability should go into another
  291. [2012-03-20 16:28:20] <Spoo> Who actually likes games where your character gets worse?
  292. [2012-03-20 16:28:28] <grizznkev_> This is an idea I support, though I agree with CrunchyFrog in that the story needs to be rewritten
  293. [2012-03-20 16:28:30] <Prophet_Steve> There are no games where that happens
  294. [2012-03-20 16:28:40] <Spoo> There is a reason behind that.
  295. [2012-03-20 16:28:41] <Risk_Breaker> I like it when it happens for 15 minutes or so
  296. [2012-03-20 16:28:43] <Prophet_Steve> However, in practice it usually does, because you only powerup the skills you want
  297. [2012-03-20 16:28:47] <wwydt> It's an interesting idea. If we keep it small (like 3 downgrades) this could end very well for us
  298. [2012-03-20 16:28:48] <CrunchyFrog> it wouldnt necesarily be worse, it's just choosing to specialize in a particular ability instead of another
  299. [2012-03-20 16:28:54] <GSGM> the story is just a basic pitch
  300. [2012-03-20 16:28:56] <Prophet_Steve> So the rest is weaker in comparison and is deemed useless
  301. [2012-03-20 16:28:59] <RavenH2> actually it happens in a lot of games... you start all powerfull, lose everything then to get it back
  302. [2012-03-20 16:29:01] <GSGM> it can be re-written of course
  303. [2012-03-20 16:29:03] <georaldc> I like the sacrificing abilities mechanic, but again we gotta figure out a way to reward players for sacrificing an ability
  304. [2012-03-20 16:29:04] <itsjoncharles> seems something more suited to a survival game to me
  305. [2012-03-20 16:29:09] <grizznkev_> Yeah I know. The changing sides thing does work for me though.
  306. [2012-03-20 16:29:22] <georaldc> But the difference is you lose everything right in the beginning (metroid)
  307. [2012-03-20 16:29:26] <itsjoncharles> like, wave-based
  308. [2012-03-20 16:29:37] <S0N0S> I kinda like this idea. Perhaps a last battle sort of scenario for an old hero.
  309. [2012-03-20 16:29:44] <CrunchyFrog> i did like the idea of having an art style that changes within the same layout
  310. [2012-03-20 16:29:47] <RavenH2> the story is just something we came across, I posted other story proposals for that game in a response
  311. [2012-03-20 16:29:56] <doomed1> I would go for as far as 5 downgrades. The thing, the levels should have ways to get by using just one mechanic at a time
  312. [2012-03-20 16:29:59] <GSGM> we could have the skill you have not scrificed powering up
  313. [2012-03-20 16:30:02] <Anedar> We really have to balance it so you won't feel like it's "correct" to sacrifice a specific ability though
  314. [2012-03-20 16:30:18] <doomed1> This way, after the first sacrifice, the player will already have an ill used power
  315. [2012-03-20 16:30:21] <doomed1> That he will give up
  316. [2012-03-20 16:30:32] <Risk_Breaker> actually, something like this already happens on the inFamous games
  317. [2012-03-20 16:30:43] <doomed1> Then the next level he gives up the next power he doesn't use
  318. [2012-03-20 16:30:43] <wwydt> Hmm... Thinking about it, this idea is starting to grow on me
  319. [2012-03-20 16:30:45] <doomed1> ANd then so on
  320. [2012-03-20 16:30:46] <CrunchyFrog> "simpsons did it"
  321. [2012-03-20 16:30:53] <GSGM> lol
  322. [2012-03-20 16:31:03] <Risk_Breaker> you have to choose evil or good, and the abilities change around that
  323. [2012-03-20 16:31:12] <Risk_Breaker> not too much though
  324. [2012-03-20 16:31:15] <CrunchyFrog> now an evil or good dichotomy could work
  325. [2012-03-20 16:31:25] <GSGM> yeah but here there's no allignement
  326. [2012-03-20 16:31:25] <CrunchyFrog> jedi outcast sort of thing
  327. [2012-03-20 16:31:30] <itsjoncharles> I'm not sure you could base a game around it per se, but perhaps as a theme that runs throughout a whole game could work within another game
  328. [2012-03-20 16:31:40] <Risk_Breaker> agreed itsjoncharles
  329. [2012-03-20 16:31:45] <CrunchyFrog> agreed
  330. [2012-03-20 16:31:48] <doomed1> I do like the idea, and it can be worked out, but personally, I'd like to just drop stuff like morality systems and make it "These are your powers, use them, but you have to give up one permanently at the end of each stage"
  331. [2012-03-20 16:31:49] <Prophet_Steve> agreed
  332. [2012-03-20 16:31:52] <georaldc> I think its cool if the sacrificable skills were major skills. The decision would make more of an impact to the player, as pointed out by someone here the other day
  333. [2012-03-20 16:32:01] <wwydt> I agree with doomed1
  334. [2012-03-20 16:32:05] <itsjoncharles> so, like as has been said, the opening of the game starts you out with all your powers but they're lost basically instantly. the carrot is working your way up to that point again, or close to it at least
  335. [2012-03-20 16:32:17] <CrunchyFrog> i.e. losing the ability to jump, but your sword gets 2x longer
  336. [2012-03-20 16:32:20] <Prophet_Steve> Or over preferably
  337. [2012-03-20 16:32:26] <doomed1> The actual difficulty of the levels stays the same, what gets harder is having to get across a stage with fewer powers.
  338. [2012-03-20 16:32:39] <CrunchyFrog> or losing your shield,but you get fire arrows
  339. [2012-03-20 16:32:43] <doomed1> I don't like the idea of any power-ups
  340. [2012-03-20 16:32:47] <doomed1> or at least anything permanent
  341. [2012-03-20 16:33:01] <grizznkev_> just a thought here, the light + dark could possibly be combines with the changing sides ability gain/loss.
  342. [2012-03-20 16:33:05] <grizznkev_> combined*
  343. [2012-03-20 16:33:08] <GSGM> we could have a set of skill that can't be sacrficed
  344. [2012-03-20 16:33:12] <CrunchyFrog> wat
  345. [2012-03-20 16:33:13] <itsjoncharles> power-ups scattered throughout the world as pickups?
  346. [2012-03-20 16:33:17] <doomed1> It would essentially be a platformer/adventure game with paths built for each power
  347. [2012-03-20 16:33:24] <CrunchyFrog> you have different abilities based on whether youre in light and dark
  348. [2012-03-20 16:33:35] <GSGM> e.g: you can't sacrifice the double jump, but you can sacrfice the double jump attack
  349. [2012-03-20 16:33:36] <doomed1> And you play the game based on what powers you have
  350. [2012-03-20 16:33:37] <Spoo> More choices means for a smaller game, I would think, to get it right.
  351. [2012-03-20 16:33:39] <CrunchyFrog> in the dark you can jump, in light you can use magic, etc.
  352. [2012-03-20 16:33:39] <S0N0S> Jon, that has been done many times before. I prefer the losing of powers overtime idea, just on its own. We could do a lot with that. In fact, we could have a strong opener when the player is super powered. Difficulty curve is based solely on the loss of powers. Lots of replayability there.
  353. [2012-03-20 16:33:47] <wwydt> The levels will have split paths. There could be a shortcut that you'll need to use your fireballs to access, but if you gave them up, you can't access it
  354. [2012-03-20 16:33:50] <georaldc> does that mean you could explore the entire world on the get go?
  355. [2012-03-20 16:33:52] <wwydt> encourages replayability
  356. [2012-03-20 16:34:02] <itsjoncharles> yeah, that's true
  357. [2012-03-20 16:34:06] <legacyAWESOME> wow good idea wwydt
  358. [2012-03-20 16:34:08] <doomed1> I'm with S0N0S and wwydt. Just the base mechanic of losing is enough
  359. [2012-03-20 16:34:12] <RavenH2> okey...I' kinda lost...
  360. [2012-03-20 16:34:14] <doomed1> Don't try and add things to it.
  361. [2012-03-20 16:34:17] <itsjoncharles> tho I mean pickups only one at a time
  362. [2012-03-20 16:34:23] <CrunchyFrog> I think it should be entire LEVELS that branch off, not just paths in the same level
  363. [2012-03-20 16:34:30] <Gil> okay
  364. [2012-03-20 16:34:32] <GSGM> crunhcy agreed
  365. [2012-03-20 16:34:35] <CrunchyFrog> would make balancing somewhat easier
  366. [2012-03-20 16:34:36] <doomed1> No, paths in the same level
  367. [2012-03-20 16:34:37] <Prophet_Steve> yikes
  368. [2012-03-20 16:34:37] <Gil> so shall I pop that one up in the poll too?
  369. [2012-03-20 16:34:39] <Risk_Breaker> we can't have too many variables though or it'll be design hell, but I like it
  370. [2012-03-20 16:34:41] <doomed1> Different paths, one goal.
  371. [2012-03-20 16:34:42] <GSGM> so we have 2/5?
  372. [2012-03-20 16:34:47] <S0N0S> That in fact can be the whole catch: it's a twist on the played out formula of empowerment.
  373. [2012-03-20 16:35:10] <Gil> Next up - Project Safehouse (http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=27.0)
  374. [2012-03-20 16:35:15] <legacyAWESOME> YUMMY!
  375. [2012-03-20 16:35:29] <doomed1> Yes, that's why I see strength in it, but the biggest issue is scope and feature creep. We'd have to avoid it!
  376. [2012-03-20 16:35:36] <doomed1> Now Project Safehous:
  377. [2012-03-20 16:35:36] <itsjoncharles> not really into doing a survival game, tbh
  378. [2012-03-20 16:35:41] <doomed1> It's too open for my taste
  379. [2012-03-20 16:35:48] <CrunchyFrog> yeah it seems kinda overdone lately
  380. [2012-03-20 16:35:55] <doomed1> There's alot of risk of scope and feature creep.
  381. [2012-03-20 16:35:55] <GSGM> Digging it, but please no isometric view
  382. [2012-03-20 16:35:55] <CrunchyFrog> the open you versus the world thing
  383. [2012-03-20 16:36:06] <doomed1> Isometric view would be impossible anyway.
  384. [2012-03-20 16:36:11] <Risk_Breaker> safehouse: if it's more like fallout with other elements, fine, if it's more open-worldish survival based, not feeling it
  385. [2012-03-20 16:36:12] <legacyAWESOME> why doomed?
  386. [2012-03-20 16:36:13] <S0N0S> Yes, this one seems too generic, unless we can come up with something really interesting to throw into the mix.
  387. [2012-03-20 16:36:17] <CrunchyFrog> OT: what's feature creep?
  388. [2012-03-20 16:36:25] <Risk_Breaker> and yes, perhaps too generic
  389. [2012-03-20 16:36:27] <SirJonthe> wikipedia is your friend
  390. [2012-03-20 16:36:33] <doomed1> Because making http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feature_creep
  391. [2012-03-20 16:36:34] <Prophet_Steve> Putting more mechanics into the game
  392. [2012-03-20 16:36:37] <wwydt> It seems to have a lot of ideas thrown in it that have little to do with the core gameplay.
  393. [2012-03-20 16:36:38] <Prophet_Steve> That were not in the inital plan
  394. [2012-03-20 16:36:43] <Risk_Breaker> so I would like to ask something
  395. [2012-03-20 16:36:44] <GSGM> and perhaps this is one idea that would be much better realized in 3D
  396. [2012-03-20 16:36:48] <Risk_Breaker> would it focused on NPC interaction
  397. [2012-03-20 16:36:52] <Risk_Breaker> or pure action?
  398. [2012-03-20 16:36:55] <Risk_Breaker> be focused*
  399. [2012-03-20 16:36:57] <CrunchyFrog> its just kind of a living in post apocolypse simulation
  400. [2012-03-20 16:36:59] <doomed1> Legacy: because making the art assets would take a long time and require some 3D modeling for the basics.
  401. [2012-03-20 16:37:24] <Spoo> Where's Shaowebb?!
  402. [2012-03-20 16:37:30] <georaldc> in school
  403. [2012-03-20 16:37:33] <GSGM> lol
  404. [2012-03-20 16:37:37] <S0N0S> I just think there are a lot of other games out there like this, if at least in theme.
  405. [2012-03-20 16:37:38] <legacyAWESOME> hahha
  406. [2012-03-20 16:37:40] <CrunchyFrog> what would be the end game?
  407. [2012-03-20 16:37:47] <CrunchyFrog> are you fighting an antagonist?
  408. [2012-03-20 16:37:49] <doomed1> ^and that's exactly my issue
  409. [2012-03-20 16:37:54] <CrunchyFrog> reversing the end of the world?
  410. [2012-03-20 16:38:03] <grizznkev_> Yeah, this game doesn't really excite me.
  411. [2012-03-20 16:38:03] <Risk_Breaker> that's why I ask if it would be story/characters/puzzles based
  412. [2012-03-20 16:38:04] <Prophet_Steve> I imagine that we do not make it openworld, but have multiple safehouses and in each level you have to collect scattered items
  413. [2012-03-20 16:38:05] <legacyAWESOME> Maybe it could be ENDING the world
  414. [2012-03-20 16:38:05] <georaldc> sounds like a multiplayer game to me
  415. [2012-03-20 16:38:06] <CrunchyFrog> because aimlessly questing i dont think is a good idea
  416. [2012-03-20 16:38:08] <Risk_Breaker> or action/points/score game
  417. [2012-03-20 16:38:11] <Risk_Breaker> based*
  418. [2012-03-20 16:38:16] <Prophet_Steve> Before going on to the next safehouse
  419. [2012-03-20 16:38:39] <itsjoncharles> I feel like we could do more with another genre
  420. [2012-03-20 16:38:40] <S0N0S> This sounds like a game, when played, you'd wish was in 3D, open world.
  421. [2012-03-20 16:38:52] <CrunchyFrog> yeah im not getting the appeal
  422. [2012-03-20 16:38:57] <Gil> okay
  423. [2012-03-20 16:39:00] <Risk_Breaker> factions, resources, crafting system, quests, making allies and forming parties, day/night cycle
  424. [2012-03-20 16:39:03] <Risk_Breaker> sounds like fallout to me
  425. [2012-03-20 16:39:10] <Gil> The City ( http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=25.0 )
  426. [2012-03-20 16:39:11] <GSGM> S0N0S agreed
  427. [2012-03-20 16:39:11] <doomed1> I WILL say however, that this mechanic can be used in a more closed off and linear fashion. For example, applied to SPACE ADVENTURE, the MC could be trapped on a deralict space station and he has to build up his provisions in a ship-wide freight elevator. That would be a
  428. [2012-03-20 16:39:13] <georaldc> won't the top/isometric view be tough on the graphics department?
  429. [2012-03-20 16:39:18] <Risk_Breaker> don't see it as a sim game
  430. [2012-03-20 16:39:40] <doomed1> The City: too much story, not enough mechanics.
  431. [2012-03-20 16:39:45] <CrunchyFrog> agreed
  432. [2012-03-20 16:39:57] <Gil> I am really high on the idea of basing a game in a city
  433. [2012-03-20 16:39:58] <itsjoncharles> seemed pretty generic when I read it
  434. [2012-03-20 16:40:03] <CrunchyFrog> it's just a metroidvania, it needs a hook
  435. [2012-03-20 16:40:06] <legacyAWESOME> Agreed gil
  436. [2012-03-20 16:40:16] <Gil> especially if it was a faceless, corporate, near future mirrors edge / jet grind radio type city
  437. [2012-03-20 16:40:32] <itsjoncharles> I don't really get what it's trying to do?
  438. [2012-03-20 16:40:34] <victor_prime> not feeling this one but could make it work
  439. [2012-03-20 16:40:34] <doomed1> It's a whole lot of fluff though. And not very good fluff either... (no offense GSGM)
  440. [2012-03-20 16:40:35] <CrunchyFrog> I think a jet set radio/TWEWY setting would be neat
  441. [2012-03-20 16:40:38] <legacyAWESOME> Frog, we can make a fresh take on Metroidvania somehow
  442. [2012-03-20 16:40:45] <Spoo> The best thing about it is the City, and that may as well be in the Adventure Game instead of Space lol
  443. [2012-03-20 16:40:48] <CrunchyFrog> but how exactly?
  444. [2012-03-20 16:40:51] <CrunchyFrog> it doesn't say
  445. [2012-03-20 16:40:55] <wwydt> Basing a game in a city could be a great idea. I'm not fond of this specific idea (a little too generic) but we could use the city idea in anothe game
  446. [2012-03-20 16:40:59] <S0N0S> Again, this seems like a fairly weak idea. It's mostly story and not so much a concept of gameplay we could make use of.
  447. [2012-03-20 16:40:59] <legacyAWESOME> well that's our challenge
  448. [2012-03-20 16:41:01] <Risk_Breaker> hmmm Gil, I see it as a mix of future, clean faceless city and el shaddai
  449. [2012-03-20 16:41:02] <Gil> doomed1 would a city setting apply well to project space adventure?
  450. [2012-03-20 16:41:12] <Gil> Risk_Breaker and I love that
  451. [2012-03-20 16:41:15] <Prophet_Steve> I'd love a space city
  452. [2012-03-20 16:41:19] <doomed1> Well, I've been playing with the idea of a City Ship
  453. [2012-03-20 16:41:22] <Gil> I love the idea of a near future city
  454. [2012-03-20 16:41:25] <CrunchyFrog> a city is a city, I think you could apply to pretty much anything
  455. [2012-03-20 16:41:25] <Spoo> Ala Spacer town in Asimov?
  456. [2012-03-20 16:41:26] <Gil> clean, corporate, sterile
  457. [2012-03-20 16:41:32] <S0N0S> I think it's far too open ended of an idea.
  458. [2012-03-20 16:41:35] <doomed1> And adding some safehouse mechanics as well
  459. [2012-03-20 16:41:36] <GSGM> gil me likes
  460. [2012-03-20 16:41:38] <RavenH2> well it could be an abandonen space city
  461. [2012-03-20 16:41:39] <Risk_Breaker> kinda like a ghost city that is actually inhabited
  462. [2012-03-20 16:41:40] <CrunchyFrog> sterile though? i dont think so
  463. [2012-03-20 16:41:50] <GSGM> Abandined Space City
  464. [2012-03-20 16:41:53] <Prophet_Steve> Spacer town? Is that the town in Foundation?
  465. [2012-03-20 16:41:54] <GSGM> nice
  466. [2012-03-20 16:41:57] <doomed1> But that's about Space Adventure, this is about The City
  467. [2012-03-20 16:42:02] <georaldc> its like were mashing all the proposals together as we go on
  468. [2012-03-20 16:42:03] <Gil> crunchyfrog did the environment in mirror's edge not feel a little sterile to you?
  469. [2012-03-20 16:42:05] <Spoo> Foundation = Asimov
  470. [2012-03-20 16:42:06] <grizznkev_> Why so many games with christian/religious themes? I kind of want to do away with that..
  471. [2012-03-20 16:42:10] <CrunchyFrog> how about a blade runner kinda city?
  472. [2012-03-20 16:42:11] <GSGM> the hook could be in the fighting mechanics
  473. [2012-03-20 16:42:12] <Prophet_Steve> Hell no
  474. [2012-03-20 16:42:17] <GSGM> I'm sure we can work something out
  475. [2012-03-20 16:42:19] <Risk_Breaker> yes Spoo, I think so
  476. [2012-03-20 16:42:20] <doomed1> No, I was mashing the proposals together. :P
  477. [2012-03-20 16:42:24] <Gil> georaldc that can be valid if we come up with a few decent options to vote on :)
  478. [2012-03-20 16:42:26] <S0N0S> Only way you can properly convey a city is NPCs, and lots of them. That'd take up a lot of our resources just to make believable, I think.
  479. [2012-03-20 16:42:28] <Spoo> I mean, I know so :)
  480. [2012-03-20 16:42:29] <RavenH2> I think we might end up merging mechanics into a game..
  481. [2012-03-20 16:42:31] <CrunchyFrog> well you cant bank a project on something you'll :figure out"
  482. [2012-03-20 16:42:48] <doomed1> But for now, The City is too light on mechanics and too heavy on fluff.
  483. [2012-03-20 16:42:54] <doomed1> Can we move onto the next?
  484. [2012-03-20 16:42:56] <CrunchyFrog> you don't have to spend a ton of resources on city npc's, reuse assets, palette swap, etc.
  485. [2012-03-20 16:42:57] <Gil> okay
  486. [2012-03-20 16:43:08] <Gil> okay before we move onto the next
  487. [2012-03-20 16:43:11] <Gil> let's do this for the vote:
  488. [2012-03-20 16:43:15] <Gil> we have five options
  489. [2012-03-20 16:43:18] <Gil> so we'll identify four pitches
  490. [2012-03-20 16:43:25] <Gil> and then we'll have option 5 - "Project X"
  491. [2012-03-20 16:43:34] <NetTime> alright
  492. [2012-03-20 16:43:36] <Gil> where we'll try and take the bits we like from a few different projects
  493. [2012-03-20 16:43:46] <Gil> and see if we can work with that
  494. [2012-03-20 16:43:49] <doomed1> So far, we like Space Adventure, Project Downgrade, and did safehouse get a thumbs up?
  495. [2012-03-20 16:43:49] <Risk_Breaker> cool
  496. [2012-03-20 16:43:55] <CrunchyFrog> i'll warily agree
  497. [2012-03-20 16:43:59] <Gil> no safehouse got a thumbs down
  498. [2012-03-20 16:44:03] <RavenH2> that can be an awsome game, or an awsome mess
  499. [2012-03-20 16:44:04] <Prophet_Steve> To be fair, we are mashing little up here, we are just adding
  500. [2012-03-20 16:44:12] <Gil> but I really think the light vs dark and downgrade ideas are brilliant
  501. [2012-03-20 16:44:13] <doomed1> Okay, then we have two out of 5
  502. [2012-03-20 16:44:18] <Risk_Breaker> safehouse will be used for ideas, like the city
  503. [2012-03-20 16:44:21] <itsjoncharles> I feel like option five is kinda pointless
  504. [2012-03-20 16:44:22] <Gil> and it'd be nice to have a mystery contender option 5 that used those ideas :)
  505. [2012-03-20 16:44:22] <wwydt> Hmm... I don't like that idea, especially since 1) not all ideas are fully thought out, so we're probably going to end up doing that anyway
  506. [2012-03-20 16:44:22] <Risk_Breaker> I think
  507. [2012-03-20 16:44:33] <S0N0S> Light vs dark and downgrade...I could easily see us combining those for something great.
  508. [2012-03-20 16:44:33] <itsjoncharles> can't the design team should talk about that when deciding on the project?
  509. [2012-03-20 16:44:35] <wwydt> 2) it'll be a pretty mig mess
  510. [2012-03-20 16:44:36] <doomed1> Downgrade is a good pitch, lightvdark is a tributary mechanic.
  511. [2012-03-20 16:44:39] <georaldc> downgrade for me
  512. [2012-03-20 16:44:41] <doomed1> ANYWAY
  513. [2012-03-20 16:44:45] <doomed1> LET'S GET TO THE NEXT ONE
  514. [2012-03-20 16:44:49] <CrunchyFrog> continuing on next proposal?
  515. [2012-03-20 16:44:52] <Gil> S0N0S exactly, that's why I felt a fifth option incorporating those may be good
  516. [2012-03-20 16:44:59] <doomed1> Project X is essentially what we're going to end up making anyway
  517. [2012-03-20 16:45:05] <GSGM> true
  518. [2012-03-20 16:45:12] <RavenH2> agreed with doomed
  519. [2012-03-20 16:45:12] <Gil> Yggdrasil
  520. [2012-03-20 16:45:12] <georaldc> it'll turn to project believe
  521. [2012-03-20 16:45:13] <Gil> http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=41.0
  522. [2012-03-20 16:45:13] <doomed1> Each of these games has to be open enough mechancially to add what we want to them.
  523. [2012-03-20 16:45:15] <S0N0S> Yea.Project X is where we're kinda headed. Regardless, lets move on.
  524. [2012-03-20 16:45:15] <Risk_Breaker> we would need some more time for that though gil, don't know if we should
  525. [2012-03-20 16:45:21] <Risk_Breaker> okay, yggdrasil
  526. [2012-03-20 16:45:24] <Gil> how on earth do you pronounce Yggdrasil?
  527. [2012-03-20 16:45:25] <doomed1> Yggrasil: this is for 3D. No good.
  528. [2012-03-20 16:45:34] <doomed1> You-dra-sill
  529. [2012-03-20 16:45:35] <GSGM> personally, I'm not a fan of RTS
  530. [2012-03-20 16:45:36] <RavenH2> pointless to have it as an option, we are going to scavenge all proposals for parts
  531. [2012-03-20 16:45:37] <GSGM> but
  532. [2012-03-20 16:45:39] <Risk_Breaker> I think a fun, attractive and playable game could be made, but I'm not sure we could make it
  533. [2012-03-20 16:45:44] <victor_prime> dont like the RTS mechanic
  534. [2012-03-20 16:45:49] <GSGM> it could end up being a good RTS/RPG mix
  535. [2012-03-20 16:45:55] <CrunchyFrog> i kinda like the RTS aspect of it
  536. [2012-03-20 16:45:58] <Gil> okay, I'm a little uncomfortable about how we're just dismissing 3D out of hand - can I have a compelling reason why 3D is bad?
  537. [2012-03-20 16:46:00] <CrunchyFrog> but for the love of god not yggdrasil
  538. [2012-03-20 16:46:00] <doomed1> Also, it seems more like a SRPG, and those are turn based, not real time.
  539. [2012-03-20 16:46:05] <CrunchyFrog> so overused
  540. [2012-03-20 16:46:13] <doomed1> 3D requires artists who can deal with 3D
  541. [2012-03-20 16:46:15] <Prophet_Steve> Because lack of artists
  542. [2012-03-20 16:46:17] <doomed1> I don't think we have those
  543. [2012-03-20 16:46:19] <SirJonthe> extremely hard to program
  544. [2012-03-20 16:46:27] <itsjoncharles> to do it well, anyway
  545. [2012-03-20 16:46:29] <CrunchyFrog> does it HAVE to be 3d though?
  546. [2012-03-20 16:46:30] <Gil> The artists, I can buy
  547. [2012-03-20 16:46:32] <doomed1> Well, not if we're making a mod
  548. [2012-03-20 16:46:39] <Gil> but 3D games can be done very well using the Dark Places engine
  549. [2012-03-20 16:46:52] <doomed1> This design would be incredibly busy or over simplified in 2D
  550. [2012-03-20 16:46:54] <Gil> but I accept the point about the artists
  551. [2012-03-20 16:46:54] <Prophet_Steve> Or UDK or whatever, but you still need assets
  552. [2012-03-20 16:47:02] <georaldc> it most likely will have to be top down view again
  553. [2012-03-20 16:47:03] <Spoo> No programming comments (unless you're speaking for yourself)
  554. [2012-03-20 16:47:05] <S0N0S> I like this idea. Very unique.
  555. [2012-03-20 16:47:06] |<-- Ainaurdur has left freenode (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
  556. [2012-03-20 16:47:07] <Gil> I just really don't want to rule out an idea straight away with "It's 3D! Oh Noes!"
  557. [2012-03-20 16:47:10] <doomed1> Or sourcemod!
  558. [2012-03-20 16:47:14] <doomed1> But again
  559. [2012-03-20 16:47:33] <CrunchyFrog> i agree, I think if thought out this could work in 2D
  560. [2012-03-20 16:47:35] <doomed1> I had plenty of great ideas with a sourcemod FPS, I dropped them because of a lack of artists
  561. [2012-03-20 16:47:36] <CrunchyFrog> look at SimCity
  562. [2012-03-20 16:47:40] <itsjoncharles> I feel with 2D we would have a lot more focus
  563. [2012-03-20 16:47:48] <GSGM> I do like it, but overall feels like something is missing
  564. [2012-03-20 16:47:55] <doomed1> We can't do Sim City CrunchyFrog. :P
  565. [2012-03-20 16:48:07] <Gil> I will say with this idea
  566. [2012-03-20 16:48:15] <CrunchyFrog> I know, but large scale stuff like that is possible is what im saying
  567. [2012-03-20 16:48:23] <Gil> it's nice because it's something a bit different to the other proposals
  568. [2012-03-20 16:48:30] <Gil> and it almost feels like it has a tycoon element
  569. [2012-03-20 16:48:31] <Risk_Breaker> I only know of Prophet_Steve and I that could do SOME basic 3D
  570. [2012-03-20 16:48:43] <Prophet_Steve> And that's only basic
  571. [2012-03-20 16:48:59] <doomed1> Possible =/= feasable. I'd like to avoid this sort of set-up. It's sort of dull design wise as it requires statistics, statistics, statistics.
  572. [2012-03-20 16:49:24] <itsjoncharles> I'm not sure I really get what is being pitched with the donut thing
  573. [2012-03-20 16:49:29] <doomed1> And SRPGs aren't exactly the most accessible things
  574. [2012-03-20 16:49:48] <Risk_Breaker> I think it could be fun and people usually like amassing units and then making them clash, but I don't think we're going to be comfortable
  575. [2012-03-20 16:50:01] <Gil> does anyone have any strong feelings either way about Yggdrasil? personally, I'd like to see it make the final five, just because it's a different idea to most of the proposals
  576. [2012-03-20 16:50:13] <CrunchyFrog> actually did anyone ever play golem revelations for SC/WCIII?
  577. [2012-03-20 16:50:16] <S0N0S> Yea, while I like this idea very much, it would be very difficult to balance properly, not to mention its demands on art and online functionality.
  578. [2012-03-20 16:50:27] <doomed1> I strongly don't want to design it, but I'm technically capable of doing so.
  579. [2012-03-20 16:50:34] <GSGM> While being on the edge about it, I'll have to say no
  580. [2012-03-20 16:50:39] <S0N0S> I'd like to see this in the top 5, personally.
  581. [2012-03-20 16:50:40] <Risk_Breaker> and it would require a very focused design, maybe not as "fun" to create as others
  582. [2012-03-20 16:50:41] <CrunchyFrog> I'm actually liking the idea of doing an RTS in generally
  583. [2012-03-20 16:50:43] <Risk_Breaker> that allow more flexibility
  584. [2012-03-20 16:50:52] <itsjoncharles> I'm not a 100% on it, so I'm saying no
  585. [2012-03-20 16:50:55] <CrunchyFrog> or something RTS related
  586. [2012-03-20 16:50:57] <Risk_Breaker> but I wouldn't be against it
  587. [2012-03-20 16:51:17] <wwydt> hmm. This idea doesn't sound too bad, but something about it sits uncomfortably with me. I think doomed1 expresses my feelings well
  588. [2012-03-20 16:51:22] <Risk_Breaker> however, I would prefer the "non-combat rpg", even if it may be too old-school
  589. [2012-03-20 16:51:26] <CrunchyFrog> this seems again simplistic, though
  590. [2012-03-20 16:51:34] <doomed1> I'm not against it being in the top 5 since it's pretty well fleshed out in the proposal though.
  591. [2012-03-20 16:51:48] <doomed1> I'm just not going to vote for it and encourage against others doing so. :P
  592. [2012-03-20 16:52:04] <Spoo> Then no point. I'd vote thumbs down.
  593. [2012-03-20 16:52:08] <Prophet_Steve> Me tto
  594. [2012-03-20 16:52:09] <GSGM> samew here
  595. [2012-03-20 16:52:10] <Prophet_Steve> to
  596. [2012-03-20 16:52:11] <RavenH2> by the way... needless to say, we all vote just once, right?
  597. [2012-03-20 16:52:24] <CrunchyFrog> as it is, its a no from me
  598. [2012-03-20 16:52:24] <doomed1> Yeah, I suppose.
  599. [2012-03-20 16:52:25] <GSGM> yeah
  600. [2012-03-20 16:52:31] <S0N0S> Keep it in mind, lets get to the rest. WHo's writing down the top 5 so far?
  601. [2012-03-20 16:52:34] <CrunchyFrog> yeah one vote each
  602. [2012-03-20 16:52:37] <RavenH2> I like that it's different, so it's in by me
  603. [2012-03-20 16:52:40] <wwydt> Yeah, sorry. :( But we could still give it a chance for those not with us at the meeting today.
  604. [2012-03-20 16:52:50] <CrunchyFrog> and obviously people can't vote their own projects
  605. [2012-03-20 16:52:52] <RavenH2> Space Adventure
  606. [2012-03-20 16:53:00] <doomed1> So far we have Space Adventure and Project Downgrade
  607. [2012-03-20 16:53:06] <RavenH2> Dark&Light + Downgrade
  608. [2012-03-20 16:53:10] <S0N0S> We're clearly divided on it. Personally I think that's reason enough to put it in the top 5.
  609. [2012-03-20 16:53:22] <RavenH2> agreed with sonos
  610. [2012-03-20 16:53:23] <wwydt> I agree with S0N0S
  611. [2012-03-20 16:53:27] <Risk_Breaker> same
  612. [2012-03-20 16:53:29] <CrunchyFrog> yeah
  613. [2012-03-20 16:53:31] <itsjoncharles> voting is as much to get people thinking as anything else, I think
  614. [2012-03-20 16:53:31] <GSGM> indeed
  615. [2012-03-20 16:53:34] <doomed1> Dark&Light can work with both Space Adventure AND Downgrade
  616. [2012-03-20 16:53:36] <itsjoncharles> * as much as
  617. [2012-03-20 16:53:44] <doomed1> So I'd just ignore Dark&Light
  618. [2012-03-20 16:53:47] <RavenH2> okey, thanks doomed1
  619. [2012-03-20 16:54:04] <S0N0S> Next one, then.
  620. [2012-03-20 16:54:05] -->| Mabef (a6934c66@gateway/web/freenode/ip.166.147.76.102) has joined #believe.vg-meeting
  621. [2012-03-20 16:54:07] <Risk_Breaker> I think we should keep in mind that ideas and little bits of stuff from the games can be added to other concepts, but not on this case I think
  622. [2012-03-20 16:54:25] <CrunchyFrog> next one
  623. [2012-03-20 16:54:26] -->| Ainaurdur (625e9940@gateway/web/freenode/ip.98.94.153.64) has joined #believe.vg-meeting
  624. [2012-03-20 16:54:31] <Gil> hold on one second :)
  625. [2012-03-20 16:54:50] <Gil> Okay so can I clarify with channel
  626. [2012-03-20 16:54:51] <doomed1> NEXT! Time for LLAMA RACE-bwaahaAHAHAHAHAHA
  627. [2012-03-20 16:54:54] <doomed1> Sorry, couldn't keep a straight face...
  628. [2012-03-20 16:54:55] <Gil> and a simple Y / N will do
  629. [2012-03-20 16:54:57] <Gil> doomed 1 shhush
  630. [2012-03-20 16:55:02] <victor_prime> no on llama race
  631. [2012-03-20 16:55:04] <Gil> I just want to clarify - simple Y/N pls
  632. [2012-03-20 16:55:14] <victor_prime> nvm xD
  633. [2012-03-20 16:55:27] <Gil> two options so far are Proj Space Adventure & Light Vs Dark-Downgrade
  634. [2012-03-20 16:55:37] <Gil> Y/N?
  635. [2012-03-20 16:55:42] <NetTime> y
  636. [2012-03-20 16:55:43] <georaldc> Y
  637. [2012-03-20 16:55:44] <Spoo> Y

  641. [2012-03-20 16:55:48] <Gil> ok good
  642. [2012-03-20 16:55:49] <grizznkev_> Yurp
  643. [2012-03-20 16:55:51] <Anedar> y
  644. [2012-03-20 16:55:52] <S0N0S> Y
  645. [2012-03-20 16:55:54] <Mosse_> Y
  646. [2012-03-20 16:55:55] <doomed1> Y, but Light&Dark isn't exclusive to Downgrade
  647. [2012-03-20 16:56:03] <doomed1> So you should probably just take it off. >___>
  648. [2012-03-20 16:56:04] <Gil> llama racer
  649. [2012-03-20 16:56:04] <RavenH2> Y to doomed1
  650. [2012-03-20 16:56:04] <wwydt> Y but I don't want to combine light vs dark with downgrade
  651. [2012-03-20 16:56:05] <CrunchyFrog> i suppose, as much as I am partial to my own idea
  652. [2012-03-20 16:56:12] <GSGM> Y

  656. [2012-03-20 16:56:29] <Spoo> N
  657. [2012-03-20 16:56:31] <doomed1> LOL
  658. [2012-03-20 16:56:31] <S0N0S> Personally, I would enjoy doing llama racer, as long as we do it on mobile and we can have other animals.
  659. [2012-03-20 16:56:32] <victor_prime> N
  660. [2012-03-20 16:56:32] <doomed1> No
  661. [2012-03-20 16:56:33] <georaldc> lol
  662. [2012-03-20 16:56:33] <Prophet_Steve> I like it, but it would only work in 3d
  663. [2012-03-20 16:56:36] <GSGM> Hahahhahaahahah... No
  664. [2012-03-20 16:56:36] <Risk_Breaker> http://loldamn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/funny-gif-llama-chewing-look.gif

  666. [2012-03-20 16:56:49] <grizznkev_> LLLLLLLLLLama racer!
  667. [2012-03-20 16:56:50] <Ainaurdur> no llama
  668. [2012-03-20 16:56:51] <victor_prime> llama racer sounds like a joke propasal too lol
  669. [2012-03-20 16:56:52] <doomed1> It's silly, and it would be fun, but it's ultimately limited and cheap.
  670. [2012-03-20 16:56:52] <georaldc> The fricking gif
  671. [2012-03-20 16:56:53] <itsjoncharles> lol bo
  672. [2012-03-20 16:56:54] <Risk_Breaker> we can do it for our third game :P :D
  673. [2012-03-20 16:56:55] <itsjoncharles> * no
  674. [2012-03-20 16:56:57] <Risk_Breaker> when we are huge and rich
  675. [2012-03-20 16:57:01] <CrunchyFrog> its got a campy rock and roll racer vibe :P
  676. [2012-03-20 16:57:09] <CrunchyFrog> maybe as a side project eventually
  677. [2012-03-20 16:57:10] <S0N0S> Put it on mobile, make it fremium, and we're rich bitches.
  678. [2012-03-20 16:57:12] <itsjoncharles> I can't stop laughing

  681. [2012-03-20 16:57:42] <CrunchyFrog> it could be the next angry birds, shudder
  682. [2012-03-20 16:57:59] <Risk_Breaker> yeah, mobile and xbla
  683. [2012-03-20 16:58:06] <CrunchyFrog> it would neet to be OVER THE TOP though
  684. [2012-03-20 16:58:11] <Prophet_Steve> Well, uhm, next?
  685. [2012-03-20 16:58:16] <victor_prime> we can save llama racer for the future
  686. [2012-03-20 16:58:18] <CrunchyFrog> like John Kricfalusi over the top
  687. [2012-03-20 16:58:19] <itsjoncharles> N-EXT
  688. [2012-03-20 16:58:20] <S0N0S> Maybe like a mario kart kinda game, except with llamas?
  689. [2012-03-20 16:58:25] <wwydt> We could technically do 3D similar to Super Mario Kart or F-Zero. :p
  690. [2012-03-20 16:58:26] <CrunchyFrog> yeah
  691. [2012-03-20 16:58:30] <S0N0S> And your characters are other jungle animals?
  692. [2012-03-20 16:58:33] <Risk_Breaker> like that weird and bizarre game
  693. [2012-03-20 16:58:38] <Risk_Breaker> that has tons of gifs
  694. [2012-03-20 16:58:40] <Risk_Breaker> and was japanese
  695. [2012-03-20 16:58:43] <Prophet_Steve> The horse racing gif
  696. [2012-03-20 16:58:43] <GSGM> LLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAAAAA RACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER
  697. [2012-03-20 16:58:46] <Risk_Breaker> yeah that one
  698. [2012-03-20 16:58:49] <Risk_Breaker> "horse"
  699. [2012-03-20 16:58:52] <victor_prime> now its sounding like diddy kong racing
  700. [2012-03-20 16:58:55] <CrunchyFrog> lol yeah
  701. [2012-03-20 16:58:56] <Prophet_Steve> The horse races, but it doesnt work anymore
  702. [2012-03-20 16:59:01] <Prophet_Steve> Tried it two weeks ago

  706. [2012-03-20 16:59:11] <georaldc> wasn't there a mario kart ripoff for ios that had animals?
  707. [2012-03-20 16:59:14] <CrunchyFrog> eems a little big for an easter egg
  708. [2012-03-20 16:59:15] <Risk_Breaker> llama egg will be there :P
  709. [2012-03-20 16:59:16] <Prophet_Steve> But next please
  710. [2012-03-20 16:59:17] <RavenH2> or put racing llamas in the credits
  711. [2012-03-20 16:59:21] <Risk_Breaker> yeah, let's move on
  712. [2012-03-20 16:59:22] <georaldc> Lol lets move on
  713. [2012-03-20 16:59:25] <CrunchyFrog> but moving on
  714. [2012-03-20 16:59:29] <Prophet_Steve> moving on
  715. [2012-03-20 16:59:33] <Prophet_Steve> on
  716. [2012-03-20 16:59:35] <doomed1> We're waiting on you Gil
  717. [2012-03-20 16:59:45] <grizznkev_> But llama racer is a sure success!
  718. [2012-03-20 16:59:46] <Mabef> On?
  719. [2012-03-20 16:59:46] <Gil> okay one second
  720. [2012-03-20 16:59:47] <CrunchyFrog> *jeopardy theme plays out*
  721. [2012-03-20 16:59:56] <Prophet_Steve> lama.gif
  722. [2012-03-20 17:00:00] <Gil> Remember I am keeping track of things here
  723. [2012-03-20 17:00:07] <Gil> so don't get panicky if I take a few seconds to respond
  724. [2012-03-20 17:00:08] <Gil> :)
  725. [2012-03-20 17:00:18] <victor_prime> llama racer can be our first wiiu game!
  726. [2012-03-20 17:00:19] <doomed1> Right, right...
  727. [2012-03-20 17:00:21] <CrunchyFrog> FASTER YOU FASTER< HYAH
  728. [2012-03-20 17:00:35] <victor_prime> kinect pc*
  729. [2012-03-20 17:00:36] <Gil> Guess what's next then?
  730. [2012-03-20 17:00:46] <victor_prime> nothing?
  731. [2012-03-20 17:00:51] <Spoo> That shitty forest game.
  732. [2012-03-20 17:00:56] <CrunchyFrog> ouch
  733. [2012-03-20 17:00:57] <CrunchyFrog> harsh
  734. [2012-03-20 17:00:59] <Prophet_Steve> Break?
  735. [2012-03-20 17:01:00] <legacyAWESOME> wow..
  736. [2012-03-20 17:01:05] <Spoo> lol, I'm jk folks!
  737. [2012-03-20 17:01:09] <legacyAWESOME> :)
  738. [2012-03-20 17:01:11] <Gil> you japester! ;)
  739. [2012-03-20 17:01:12] <victor_prime> suure
  740. [2012-03-20 17:01:16] <Gil> okay let's run with dreadworld
  741. [2012-03-20 17:01:21] <Gil> to break up the pattern a bit
  742. [2012-03-20 17:01:22] <Gil> http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=11.0
  743. [2012-03-20 17:01:28] <georaldc> someone
  744. [2012-03-20 17:01:30] <georaldc> sorry
  745. [2012-03-20 17:01:31] <doomed1> Again, like The City, Too much fluff, not enough mechanics.
  746. [2012-03-20 17:01:38] <Gil> Dreadlord can't be here with us tonight as he's a big girl and needs his sleep
  747. [2012-03-20 17:01:43] <Risk_Breaker> sounds like a very cool browser game
  748. [2012-03-20 17:01:52] <GSGM> reminds me of Mafia Wars
  749. [2012-03-20 17:01:57] <Risk_Breaker> yep
  750. [2012-03-20 17:01:59] <CrunchyFrog> yeah, needs more meat, but its kind of a mafia/godfather vibe
  751. [2012-03-20 17:02:00] <S0N0S> PRetty much.
  752. [2012-03-20 17:02:05] <Gil> but I think it's fundamentally a sound idea and could be a less lame version of mafia wars
  753. [2012-03-20 17:02:08] <S0N0S> THerefor better to do online with real people.
  754. [2012-03-20 17:02:10] <Prophet_Steve> I thought a 2D hack & slasher...
  755. [2012-03-20 17:02:10] <Spoo> Cool flash game, bro.
  756. [2012-03-20 17:02:17] <Risk_Breaker> it would be fun and it could make something like a fanbase, but... browser game in my mind
  757. [2012-03-20 17:02:26] <itsjoncharles> was turned off at minigames
  758. [2012-03-20 17:02:27] <victor_prime> cant tell what the mechanics are, weither its in 2D or what, and sounds like mafia wars
  759. [2012-03-20 17:02:28] <doomed1> Oh, dreamworld? I thought you said dreamscape, lol
  760. [2012-03-20 17:02:38] <doomed1> Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the idea
  761. [2012-03-20 17:02:39] <Prophet_Steve> Whoop
  762. [2012-03-20 17:02:42] <Gil> DREADworld
  763. [2012-03-20 17:02:42] <GSGM> as long as it's more syndicate (old one) and less zynga
  764. [2012-03-20 17:02:45] <Prophet_Steve> Aaaaah
  765. [2012-03-20 17:02:47] <Prophet_Steve> That makes sense
  766. [2012-03-20 17:02:48] <S0N0S> Would make for an interesting asynchronoous online game, otherwise the quality of the game is bound to how good our AI is.
  767. [2012-03-20 17:02:56] <doomed1> I can'st into reading.
  768. [2012-03-20 17:02:58] <Gil> S0N0S nailed it
  769. [2012-03-20 17:03:01] <lilzippa> I think Mafia wars with long term rts elements
  770. [2012-03-20 17:03:03] <Spoo> So, as long as it's more Syndicate (old one) and less Syndicate?
  771. [2012-03-20 17:03:09] <Risk_Breaker> haha
  772. [2012-03-20 17:03:18] <GSGM> lol
  773. [2012-03-20 17:03:33] <grizznkev_> The setting doesn't really appeal to me.
  774. [2012-03-20 17:03:38] <Risk_Breaker> I simply see it as too much of a micromanagement rpg
  775. [2012-03-20 17:03:39] <doomed1> Also, if we can't get enough interest, the game will be dead on arival. If we can't KEEP interest, the game will be dead in a month
  776. [2012-03-20 17:03:40] <S0N0S> On mobile, this would be great. Again, we'd HAVE to do it online or not at all.
  777. [2012-03-20 17:03:47] <GSGM> jokes apart, it feels to vague as an idea
  778. [2012-03-20 17:03:49] <Risk_Breaker> agreed S0N0S
  779. [2012-03-20 17:03:54] <GSGM> *too
  780. [2012-03-20 17:04:03] <CrunchyFrog> yeah it seems nebulous atm
  781. [2012-03-20 17:04:04] <doomed1> I don't like the idea of having to do netcode.
  782. [2012-03-20 17:04:12] <SirJonthe> me neither
  783. [2012-03-20 17:04:13] <victor_prime> we should wait on online...dont think programmers would want to update it
  784. [2012-03-20 17:04:16] <Gil> doomed1 let's not step away from why we're all here though - we're making a game, not to worry about whether it will sell a million copies :)
  785. [2012-03-20 17:04:22] <Ainaurdur> I was thinking Dreadworld and Safehouse both had very similar gameplay styles, at least what I recall from initial conversations about them
  786. [2012-03-20 17:04:24] <itsjoncharles> exactly doomed
  787. [2012-03-20 17:04:29] * Spoo signs doomed up for the netcode.
  788. [2012-03-20 17:04:40] <S0N0S> It has been done before, iMob2
  789. [2012-03-20 17:04:48] <Gil> seriously, if anyone is here to do anything other than participate in a community and basically have some fun and follow their dreams a little, they're in the wrong place
  790. [2012-03-20 17:04:55] <RavenH2> I liked the idea of spreading dread to other gamers
  791. [2012-03-20 17:04:58] <RavenH2> sharing your pain
  792. [2012-03-20 17:05:03] <Ainaurdur> also browser/facebook type of mostly text with a few images... those suck
  793. [2012-03-20 17:05:14] <Gil> okay can I get a Y/N for Dreadworld?
  794. [2012-03-20 17:05:16] <Risk_Breaker> no gil, but if it were 100% online, it'd be sad
  795. [2012-03-20 17:05:21] <victor_prime> N
  796. [2012-03-20 17:05:22] <Prophet_Steve> N
  797. [2012-03-20 17:05:22] <Spoo> N
  798. [2012-03-20 17:05:23] <doomed1> Honestly, I just don't like the idea of designing this. It's, again, limited in terms of its design and too open ended to keep my interest.
  799. [2012-03-20 17:05:23] <GSGM> N
  800. [2012-03-20 17:05:23] <Risk_Breaker> because almost no one would play it
  801. [2012-03-20 17:05:24] <doomed1> N
  802. [2012-03-20 17:05:25] <Risk_Breaker> N
  803. [2012-03-20 17:05:25] <S0N0S> n
  804. [2012-03-20 17:05:27] <Anedar> n
  805. [2012-03-20 17:05:29] <NetTime> N not wild about it
  806. [2012-03-20 17:05:29] <CrunchyFrog> N
  807. [2012-03-20 17:05:30] <SirJonthe> n
  808. [2012-03-20 17:05:33] <Gil> ok
  809. [2012-03-20 17:05:35] <itsjoncharles> N
  810. [2012-03-20 17:05:37] <georaldc> N for me
  811. [2012-03-20 17:05:40] <Gil> Dreamscape - http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=26.0
  812. [2012-03-20 17:05:43] <GSGM> before we start, think of the Dreamscape mechanics to something akin "ghouls and ghosts" if you will
  813. [2012-03-20 17:05:47] <Risk_Breaker> dreamscape
  814. [2012-03-20 17:06:03] <S0N0S> Too vague of an idea.
  815. [2012-03-20 17:06:10] <Risk_Breaker> I have a pretty big problem with that proposal and that's... too vague, can't really see it
  816. [2012-03-20 17:06:14] <grizznkev_> Here we go again, with the gods thing
  817. [2012-03-20 17:06:16] <doomed1> I've never played Ghouls and Ghosts. It seems alot like Nights into Dreams.
  818. [2012-03-20 17:06:19] <CrunchyFrog> the story has my head spinning with all the names, but like a catchall action game like battletoads?
  819. [2012-03-20 17:06:27] <lilzippa> I know at one time there was talk of the online portion being more Facebook app and offline more meaty mechanics
  820. [2012-03-20 17:06:29] <doomed1> And I still think it's too much fluff, not enough mechanics.
  821. [2012-03-20 17:06:35] <victor_prime> reminds me of rocketknight adventures, gargoyles quest, and ghouhs/goblins
  822. [2012-03-20 17:06:38] <Risk_Breaker> yeah, not enough of a base
  823. [2012-03-20 17:06:38] <itsjoncharles> agreed
  824. [2012-03-20 17:06:40] <NetTime> this seems a bit unfocused
  825. [2012-03-20 17:06:42] <Risk_Breaker> we would be going in circles again
  826. [2012-03-20 17:06:50] <S0N0S> We're not writing stories. We need gameplay ideas, mechanics, etc...
  827. [2012-03-20 17:07:10] <GSGM> well it's set in a dreamworld. so lots of different kind of gameplay can be realized
  828. [2012-03-20 17:07:11] <doomed1> Yeah, there's nowhere to start with this one.
  829. [2012-03-20 17:07:17] <CrunchyFrog> before we continue, do you think we could get a solid vote on the ones we didnt explicitly vote on?
  830. [2012-03-20 17:07:18] <victor_prime> to be honest, we should stay away from religion theme
  831. [2012-03-20 17:07:19] <Risk_Breaker> that's the problem G
  832. [2012-03-20 17:07:21] <GSGM> but the core mechanic is 2d action/platofrmer
  833. [2012-03-20 17:07:27] |<-- georaldc has left freenode (Quit: Leaving)
  834. [2012-03-20 17:07:33] <S0N0S> Dreamworld? Dreamworld is literally the most abstract thing you could set it in. lol
  835. [2012-03-20 17:07:35] <Risk_Breaker> so..
  836. [2012-03-20 17:07:37] <GSGM> victor_prime it's mythology
  837. [2012-03-20 17:07:39] <Risk_Breaker> like Muramasa?
  838. [2012-03-20 17:07:44] <Spoo> victor: especially if you wanna hit N3DS
  839. [2012-03-20 17:08:00] <doomed1> GSGM: 2D action platformer isn't a mechanic, it's a genre
  840. [2012-03-20 17:08:12] <wwydt> Dream world is not a problem (I like DreamWorld for various reasons) but the gameplay isn't really there in the proposal
  841. [2012-03-20 17:08:30] <doomed1> Because it's a "dreamworld" the central mechanic could be anything.
  842. [2012-03-20 17:08:40] <victor_prime> takeout mythology and turn it into some inception like game
  843. [2012-03-20 17:08:59] <Spoo> We have to go deeper.
  844. [2012-03-20 17:09:05] <GSGM> one does not rule out the other
  845. [2012-03-20 17:09:06] <RavenH2> I like the idea of jumping from one mechanic to the next (also changing the art),when you travel through dreams
  846. [2012-03-20 17:09:18] <legacyAWESOME> yeah, I'm not really into the mythology part of it
  847. [2012-03-20 17:09:19] <CrunchyFrog> like a warioware mashup of genres
  848. [2012-03-20 17:09:22] <CrunchyFrog> ?
  849. [2012-03-20 17:09:24] <legacyAWESOME> the REST of it sounds awesome
  850. [2012-03-20 17:09:35] <S0N0S> We could possibly include this in Project X, but on its own, it's hardly enough to base a game on right now. We need a stronger idea.
  851. [2012-03-20 17:09:39] <doomed1> Raven, then it would be a minigame game. And that's not what was proposed. :/
  852. [2012-03-20 17:09:53] <CrunchyFrog> perhaps not a linear progression, but maybe a hub to different levels with different gameplay mechanics?
  853. [2012-03-20 17:10:02] <doomed1> We can always use dream sequences in any of the other game ideas too, tbh
  854. [2012-03-20 17:10:03] <RavenH2> not exactly... I understand your point
  855. [2012-03-20 17:10:11] <GSGM> doomed I'm ok with what the majority decides.
  856. [2012-03-20 17:10:22] <Gil> Is it just me, or would Dreamworld really benefit from both the light vs dark and downgrade mechanics?
  857. [2012-03-20 17:10:24] <RavenH2> but think of the change in mechanics in earth worm jim in the underwater levels..
  858. [2012-03-20 17:10:34] <GSGM> Gil agreed
  859. [2012-03-20 17:10:48] <doomed1> Gil: then we would be adding those mechanics in retrospect.
  860. [2012-03-20 17:10:49] <CrunchyFrog> i see what Raven's getting at
  861. [2012-03-20 17:10:52] <RavenH2> you still shot things, but those damn elevators were THE mechanic to master
  862. [2012-03-20 17:10:55] <Gil> I really feel like we have the seeds of a very unique and interesting game spread across 3 different proposals :)
  863. [2012-03-20 17:11:08] <wwydt> we could use dream world as a setting. Like, in a dream world city, using the project downgrade idea. It can be fantastical (i.e. really weird powerups)
  864. [2012-03-20 17:11:10] <victor_prime> this could be a dream sequence similiar to MGS, where snake is fighting shadows in his dreams
  865. [2012-03-20 17:11:14] <S0N0S> I agree, gil.
  866. [2012-03-20 17:11:24] <victor_prime> but different in some way
  867. [2012-03-20 17:11:53] <Gil> Okay in that case, I'm going to add a weird combo option to the poll on the bottom, because I think it's important to promote discussion around it... for those who don't like that idea, don't vote on it :)
  868. [2012-03-20 17:11:58] <Risk_Breaker> the problem with joining downgrade and this is that... a 2d action/platformer game where you lose skills would have to have more to it that the action and the platforming, me thinks
  869. [2012-03-20 17:12:27] <RavenH2> actually you leave that to the players choice
  870. [2012-03-20 17:12:30] <CrunchyFrog> have like an R-type sills tradeoff?
  871. [2012-03-20 17:12:31] <S0N0S> Thats the thing, combining those ideas may be enough, then we can fill in the gaps.
  872. [2012-03-20 17:12:47] <Gil> S0N0S okay will add the option
  873. [2012-03-20 17:12:52] <Gil> let's move on
  874. [2012-03-20 17:12:56] <CrunchyFrog> no double shot but a rear shot
  875. [2012-03-20 17:12:56] <Risk_Breaker> okay :)
  876. [2012-03-20 17:12:57] <wwydt> If you do downgrade with this, you can explain losing powers by waking up a little bit, becoming closer to reality
  877. [2012-03-20 17:13:00] <doomed1> Okay, I would NOT put that combo idea in there for one central reason: This game proposal is all fluff. We can worry about the story element AFTER we decide on a central game concept!
  878. [2012-03-20 17:13:01] <wwydt> ok moning on
  879. [2012-03-20 17:13:03] <Gil> A "non combat RPG" http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=31.0
  880. [2012-03-20 17:13:06] <Gil> interesting....
  881. [2012-03-20 17:13:08] <GSGM> wwydt me gusta
  882. [2012-03-20 17:13:13] <Risk_Breaker> wwydt awesome :P
  883. [2012-03-20 17:13:21] <doomed1> Yes, I like this one too, but it needs alot of work.
  884. [2012-03-20 17:13:42] <doomed1> For example, I'd take out combat entirely unless it has some sort of serious detriment
  885. [2012-03-20 17:13:43] <Risk_Breaker> I think it would be to either be an adventure game or an rpg with combat
  886. [2012-03-20 17:13:54] <Risk_Breaker> have to be* jeez
  887. [2012-03-20 17:14:01] <itsjoncharles> I like this
  888. [2012-03-20 17:14:03] <itsjoncharles> very uniqu
  889. [2012-03-20 17:14:05] <doomed1> And all success can come from other skills to complete puzzles in different ways.
  890. [2012-03-20 17:14:06] <itsjoncharles> * unique
  891. [2012-03-20 17:14:11] <GSGM> agree with Risk_Breaker
  892. [2012-03-20 17:14:28] <Gil> Okay, so are you guys actually going to allow me to add this one into the poll? :p
  893. [2012-03-20 17:14:30] <CrunchyFrog> whst "items" would one find while exploring?
  894. [2012-03-20 17:14:42] <victor_prime> Y
  895. [2012-03-20 17:14:45] <CrunchyFrog> and how would it affect the rest of the game?
  896. [2012-03-20 17:14:46] <doomed1> Y
  897. [2012-03-20 17:14:58] <SirJonthe> y
  898. [2012-03-20 17:14:59] <Risk_Breaker> Y
  899. [2012-03-20 17:15:08] <S0N0S> Add what?
  900. [2012-03-20 17:15:09] <CrunchyFrog> since combat is so heavily deemphasized and not dependent on equipment?
  901. [2012-03-20 17:15:12] <Anedar> y
  902. [2012-03-20 17:15:20] <S0N0S> This game? non combat rpg?
  903. [2012-03-20 17:15:24] <doomed1> I'm good with this one in the poll. Definitely something I can work with on a mechanical level.
  904. [2012-03-20 17:15:28] <wwydt> I dislike all the "questing" mechanics but Y
  905. [2012-03-20 17:15:29] <GSGM> Y
  906. [2012-03-20 17:15:35] <RavenH2> y
  907. [2012-03-20 17:15:36] <S0N0S> N
  908. [2012-03-20 17:15:50] <Spoo> ( y ) <-- lqqk at those legs
  909. [2012-03-20 17:15:54] <Gil> right okay
  910. [2012-03-20 17:15:55] <grizznkev_> y-ish. Needs some changes but ok
  911. [2012-03-20 17:15:56] <Gil> last one then
  912. [2012-03-20 17:16:03] <Gil> Chasing Platformer - http://forums.believe.vg/index.php?topic=10.0
  913. [2012-03-20 17:16:06] <CrunchyFrog> its the the closest to a complete game, so yeah, but it needs work
  914. [2012-03-20 17:16:25] <Gil> What I like about Chasing Platformer is that it seems to almost want to break the fourth wall
  915. [2012-03-20 17:16:29] <itsjoncharles> cannabalt?
  916. [2012-03-20 17:16:36] <Gil> ie it really looks like it wants to make the player feel stressed
  917. [2012-03-20 17:16:40] <Prophet_Steve> Reminds me of what I put on xp-dev
  918. [2012-03-20 17:16:41] <CrunchyFrog> its kind of arcadey
  919. [2012-03-20 17:16:46] <victor_prime> another god game :/
  920. [2012-03-20 17:16:51] <doomed1> This is simplistic, but we can work with it. However, on the same level, we can totally just add this sort of stage into any of our other ideas.
  921. [2012-03-20 17:16:51] <S0N0S> gods, dreamworlds, dark light...sensing a strong common thread here. Did you guys meet separately and conspire?
  922. [2012-03-20 17:16:53] <CrunchyFrog> sort of a bullet hell kind of feeling?
  923. [2012-03-20 17:16:58] <S0N0S> lol
  924. [2012-03-20 17:16:58] <GSGM> lol
  925. [2012-03-20 17:17:04] <Gil> yeah
  926. [2012-03-20 17:17:12] <Gil> dgenx spoke to me about the chasing game
  927. [2012-03-20 17:17:20] <Gil> he said he wanted it to be a constant stress experience
  928. [2012-03-20 17:17:22] <Risk_Breaker> too little scope, but it can be used like doomed1 says
  929. [2012-03-20 17:17:24] <Gil> no respite
  930. [2012-03-20 17:17:33] <S0N0S> sounds like a gameplay mechanic we can drop into project x
  931. [2012-03-20 17:17:34] <RavenH2> victor, god, mortality, and fantasy are the easiest settings... we can change them
  932. [2012-03-20 17:17:34] <CrunchyFrog> agreed with risk
  933. [2012-03-20 17:17:36] <GSGM> I disagree with constant stress
  934. [2012-03-20 17:17:43] <Risk_Breaker> so like serious sam but with a twist?
  935. [2012-03-20 17:17:48] <doomed1> If that's the case it requires some really really seamless design. I'm not sure if we can do it...
  936. [2012-03-20 17:17:55] <wwydt> While the idea isn't bad, it dowsn't sound like it'll be too fun, IMO
  937. [2012-03-20 17:18:07] |<-- lilzippa has left freenode (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
  938. [2012-03-20 17:18:12] <GSGM> indeed
  939. [2012-03-20 17:18:19] <GSGM> it must also be FUN
  940. [2012-03-20 17:18:20] <CrunchyFrog> it's essentially a shmup, you're just goin in the opposite direction
  941. [2012-03-20 17:18:33] <Gil> should I add it to the poll then?
  942. [2012-03-20 17:18:34] <S0N0S> I actually like this idea.
  943. [2012-03-20 17:18:35] <RavenH2> I'm going to ask the same thing I asked in the forums
  944. [2012-03-20 17:18:36] <Risk_Breaker> yeah, looking at it like that
  945. [2012-03-20 17:18:36] -->| lilzippa ([email protected]) has joined #believe.vg-meeting
  946. [2012-03-20 17:18:41] <GSGM> y

  948. [2012-03-20 17:18:44] <Prophet_Steve> y
  949. [2012-03-20 17:18:45] <RavenH2> What's the gamble when attempting the one shot kill?
  950. [2012-03-20 17:18:46] <grizznkev_> y
  951. [2012-03-20 17:18:47] <NetTime> I say Y
  952. [2012-03-20 17:18:51] <SirJonthe> y
  953. [2012-03-20 17:19:00] <Prophet_Steve> I assume you stand still or something and get hit?
  954. [2012-03-20 17:19:02] <doomed1> I'm going to say this is better as a stage in a game rather than a game itelf.
  955. [2012-03-20 17:19:02] <victor_prime> Y
  956. [2012-03-20 17:19:03] <doomed1> N
  957. [2012-03-20 17:19:03] <Risk_Breaker> Y
  958. [2012-03-20 17:19:03] <Prophet_Steve> Or move slower

  960. [2012-03-20 17:19:11] <Spoo> n
  961. [2012-03-20 17:19:12] <CrunchyFrog> as a whole game, n
  962. [2012-03-20 17:19:15] <GSGM> doomed1 agreed
  963. [2012-03-20 17:19:15] <Risk_Breaker> but as a mix with other proposals
  964. [2012-03-20 17:19:17] <wwydt> Y I'd put it in the poll. But I'd need further convincing it'll be fun. Maybe I can think of it more like a shmup as mentioned...
  965. [2012-03-20 17:19:18] <RavenH2> n
  966. [2012-03-20 17:19:19] <Risk_Breaker> N otherwise

  968. [2012-03-20 17:19:29] <Gil> have I missed any proposals?
  969. [2012-03-20 17:19:31] <wwydt> seems split
  970. [2012-03-20 17:19:32] <Gil> or have we done them all?
  971. [2012-03-20 17:19:37] -->| Zeouterlimits ([email protected]) has joined #believe.vg-meeting
  972. [2012-03-20 17:19:38] <doomed1> Seems we're kind of split on this. :P

  974. [2012-03-20 17:19:47] <doomed1> I'm pretty sure that's the last one
  975. [2012-03-20 17:19:49] <CrunchyFrog> can we get a vote on the bit.trip idea just once for my conscience
  976. [2012-03-20 17:19:53] <Risk_Breaker> btw, this chasing platformer reminds me of catherine but in 2d and with weapons
  977. [2012-03-20 17:19:55] <Gil> no probs
  978. [2012-03-20 17:20:00] <Gil> okay a vote on the bit.trip idea please?

  995. [2012-03-20 17:20:47] <Gil> Project Space Adventure
  996. [2012-03-20 17:20:52] <Gil> "Non Combat RPG"
  997. [2012-03-20 17:20:55] <Gil> Chasing Platformer
  998. [2012-03-20 17:21:02] <Gil> and if someone doesn't fancy either of those three options
  999. [2012-03-20 17:21:10] <Gil> I am going to throw in as a sort of "none of the above idea"
  1000. [2012-03-20 17:21:19] <GSGM> I say
  1001. [2012-03-20 17:21:24] <Gil> a light vs dark; downgrade;dreamworld mash up
  1002. [2012-03-20 17:21:25] <GSGM> once the vote ends
  1003. [2012-03-20 17:21:28] <GSGM> we should meet up
  1004. [2012-03-20 17:21:29] <doomed1> No
  1005. [2012-03-20 17:21:29] <S0N0S> Call it Cross Project
  1006. [2012-03-20 17:21:31] <S0N0S> lol
1007. [2012-03-20 17:21:31] <grizznkev_> I thought we said Downgrade could be viable on its own?
  1008. [2012-03-20 17:21:33] <doomed1> Please don't do the mash-up
  1009. [2012-03-20 17:21:37] <doomed1> Just do Downgrade
  1010. [2012-03-20 17:21:40] <wwydt> I prefer no mash-up now
  1011. [2012-03-20 17:21:40] <Gil> doomed1 if you don't like it, don't vote for it
  1012. [2012-03-20 17:21:49] <wwydt> but ok
  1013. [2012-03-20 17:21:50] <doomed1> I like Downgrade, I don't like adding story to it
1014. [2012-03-20 17:22:12] <doomed1> THe problem with Dreamscape is too much fluff. We can work with the vague mechanic later
1015. [2012-03-20 17:22:25] <S0N0S> Just call it Mashup, where we can later decide which fits best between those alternates
1016. [2012-03-20 17:22:33] <wwydt> I have an interesting idea for downgrade I'll post in the thread
1017. [2012-03-20 17:22:37] <Anedar> The basic dream concept is good, the whole god-thing not so much
1018. [2012-03-20 17:22:39] <doomed1> I like Light & Dark, but again, as a mechanic it's too weak, but we can put it into any of our other propsoals on one level or antoher
  1019. [2012-03-20 17:22:42] <Risk_Breaker> but... wouldn't be need another meeting for that?
  1020. [2012-03-20 17:22:43] <doomed1> *another
  1021. [2012-03-20 17:22:47] <Gil> okay look
  1022. [2012-03-20 17:22:56] |<-- Mabef has left freenode (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
1023. [2012-03-20 17:22:59] <Gil> we'll probably pick one of the three solid proposals if this meeting is anything to go by
1024. [2012-03-20 17:23:08] <Gil> for folk who don't like either of those three and select mashup
  1025. [2012-03-20 17:23:11] <Gil> *if* that happens
  1026. [2012-03-20 17:23:19] <itsjoncharles> let's see
1027. [2012-03-20 17:23:27] <Gil> we'll have a meeting to try and come up with something workable around that
1028. [2012-03-20 17:23:31] <grizznkev_> I'm pretty sure Downgrade has more support than Chasing Platformer...
  1029. [2012-03-20 17:23:35] <Gil> I believe that's the best compromise for everyone around here
  1030. [2012-03-20 17:23:42] <Gil> Okay I will add downgrade as option 4
1031. [2012-03-20 17:23:45] <wwydt> Instead of none of the above, we should have downgrade by itself I think. then have mash-up
  1032. [2012-03-20 17:23:47] <Risk_Breaker> okay, that sounds good
  1033. [2012-03-20 17:23:50] <doomed1> Downgrade is a solid proposal all by itself.
  1034. [2012-03-20 17:23:57] <GSGM> let's just vote for Downgrade and chasing again
  1035. [2012-03-20 17:24:06] <Gil> I don't think we need any more votes now
  1036. [2012-03-20 17:24:07] <Risk_Breaker> D / C?
  1037. [2012-03-20 17:24:10] <Gil> let's get this thing up on the forums
  1038. [2012-03-20 17:24:12] <Gil> with those five options
  1039. [2012-03-20 17:24:18] <Gil> and see what happens next :D
  1040. [2012-03-20 17:24:28] <Risk_Breaker> fine by me Gil
  1041. [2012-03-20 17:24:29] <S0N0S> I'm satisfied.
  1042. [2012-03-20 17:24:33] <wwydt> OK
  1043. [2012-03-20 17:24:33] <grizznkev_> sounds good
  1044. [2012-03-20 17:24:43] <Prophet_Steve> yup
  1045. [2012-03-20 17:24:47] <GSGM> k
  1046. [2012-03-20 17:24:48] <Risk_Breaker> I have to say though
1047. [2012-03-20 17:24:56] <Risk_Breaker> how long are you planning to have the poll up?
  1048. [2012-03-20 17:25:03] <CrunchyFrog> 34 is it not?
  1049. [2012-03-20 17:25:03] <Risk_Breaker> 1 day or 2 days?
  1050. [2012-03-20 17:25:07] <CrunchyFrog> 24h*
  1051. [2012-03-20 17:25:08] <RavenH2> fine by me!
  1052. [2012-03-20 17:25:52] <Gil> 24 hours :)
  1053. [2012-03-20 17:26:05] <Zeouterlimits> Good choice
1054. [2012-03-20 17:26:15] <CrunchyFrog> is there an option to change votes if need be?
1055. [2012-03-20 17:26:25] <GSGM> c'mon guys. we all know we will end up making "llama racer" in the end
  1056. [2012-03-20 17:26:30] <CrunchyFrog> change ones own vote i mean
1057. [2012-03-20 17:26:32] <Zeouterlimits> Well, depending on how the voting goes. Strong indicator of interest.
  1058. [2012-03-20 17:26:35] <S0N0S> who proposed llama racer?
  1059. [2012-03-20 17:26:39] <Zeouterlimits> GSGM: Ship it.
  1060. [2012-03-20 17:26:44] <victor_prime> guess :p
  1061. [2012-03-20 17:26:50] <S0N0S> gsgm?
  1062. [2012-03-20 17:26:50] <GSGM> SHIP IT GOOD!
  1063. [2012-03-20 17:26:53] <Gil> I will enable the changing votes option
  1064. [2012-03-20 17:26:56] <GSGM> nope
  1065. [2012-03-20 17:27:01] <Prophet_Steve> gr something?
  1066. [2012-03-20 17:27:13] <GSGM> dgenx
  1067. [2012-03-20 17:27:17] <Prophet_Steve> It says iOh yeah
  1068. [2012-03-20 17:27:18] <S0N0S> ANd he isnt here.
  1069. [2012-03-20 17:27:32] <Gil> okay thanks for meeting
1070. [2012-03-20 17:27:38] <Gil> and thanks for making this one easier than the last one
  1071. [2012-03-20 17:27:41] <S0N0S> Awesome meeting
1072. [2012-03-20 17:27:46] <Gil> it was an absolute pleasure to share ideas with you all this evening
1073. [2012-03-20 17:27:49] <Prophet_Steve> One question, do we have an artist in here?
  1074. [2012-03-20 17:27:50] <Spoo> Yeah
  1075. [2012-03-20 17:27:51] <Gil> we have a LOT of talent here

  1077. [2012-03-20 17:27:54] <GSGM> IT BEGINS
  1078. [2012-03-20 17:27:56] <Zeouterlimits> I was happy to contribute. >_>
1079. [2012-03-20 17:27:57] <Gil> and some really good ideas and strong viewpoints
