  1. -----------------------------
  2. Alriight
  3. I’ll give you a list of your powers as a trial moderator.
  4. 1. Access to ingame logs. This includes ALL attack logs. ALL local and antagonist ooc, including deadchat and admin pm’s. You can also send your own admin pms (bwoink)
  5. 2. The ability to wind players (admin freeze them).
  6. 3. The ability to boot players of a lower rank (regular players basically).
  7. 4. The ability to temporarily ban and temporarily job ban players. Self explanatory.
  8. 5. The ability to apply NOTES to a players’ ckey. This is a system staff use to keep tabs on players behavior and administrative action taken. It’s good practice to note what you’ve talked to a player about. You don’t need to note EVERYTHING. If they didn’t do anything wrong, a note isn’t required.
  9. 6. The ability to warn players. This is like a note, but visible to the players and requires them to acknowledge the warning.
  10. 7. The ability to admin-ghost (like observing, but you can re-enter your body)
  11. 8. Lastly, the ability to use modchat, where you can speak with other moderators and admins about stuff.
  12. Any questions about the powers and how they function, or in general, before we begin?
  13.
  14. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:38 PM
  15. Is it possible to set how long warnings last? I'm not 100% on how long they last.
  16.
  17. Mini MooseToday at 4:39 PM
  18. No, standard warnings are defaulted to 3 months, and four months if it is a severe warning, if I recall correctly.
  19.
  20. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:39 PM
  21. Understood.
  22.
  23. Mini MooseToday at 4:40 PM
  24. Only thing you can edit the time on is a Temporary ban, which is done in minutes. For instance, a day temp ban would last about 1440 minutes, whereas three days would last 4320 minutes, so on and so forth.
  25. Notes never expire. Only way they can be removed is if a staff member removes them. I'm pretty sure only Moderator+ can remove notes and Secondary Admin+ can remove warnings.
  26.
  27. Anything else before we begin?
  28.
  29. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:41 PM
  30. Nothing else, thanks for the clarification.
  31.
  32. Mini MooseToday at 4:44 PM
  33. Wonderful. Throughout this interview you will be given a series of questions, do your best to answer them completely with detail. If you need anything clarified, let me know and I will do my best to assist you.
  34.
  35. The interview will begin now, there is no time limit on any question, so do not feel rushed.
  36. First scenario.
  37.
  38. A new player joins the game, his name is "Donald Trump" and his character's appearance resembles Donald Trump. He exits the arrivals shuttle and yells "F the police, and f china! We need a wall!" then begins beating Roberto the scientist with a crowbar.
  39.
  40. What do you do?
  41.
  42. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:49 PM
  43. I begin by asking him if he has a minute, instructing him to put down the crowbar. Assuming he does not immediately stop (I'm fully aware of how large and obvious a bwoink is), I wind him. Assuming he complies, I ask if he has read the rules, and point him to, frankly, most of the rules in the Roleplaying Characters section, as well as his reference name breaking the 'In general, avoid reference/famous/joke names, please.' rule. If he logs, I assume I'm able to put on a ban, and then note it.
  44. (Sorry if that breaks the format.)
  45.
  46. Mini MooseToday at 4:51 PM
  47. The player responds with "Oh sorry, I don't speak gay" then logs off. The other player who was being attacked then proceeds to attack the SSD body, and starts to salt in OOC, bringing IC into OOC in the process.
  48.
  49. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:52 PM
  50. I ask an admin or other permaban-equipped staff member to ensure the player does not come back, I note this. Meanwhile, I warn Roberto to stop salting in OOC and leave the corpse alone, as it's against the rules to interfere with the SSD. Assuming Roberto does not salting, I request an OOC mute for him.
  51.
  52. Mini MooseToday at 4:53 PM
  53. When you say Warn, do you mean place a warning or simply speak to him?
  54.
  55. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:53 PM
  56. Speak to him. A warning wouldn't be required unless he was being egregiously awful in OOC, like using slurs and such.
  57. Wait.
  58. Is Roberto new?
  59. If not, I'd check his notes first for any previous similar transgressions.
  60.
  61. Mini MooseToday at 4:54 PM
  62. No, Roberto is a frequent player but he has no notes regarding this behavior. His last entry was back in December of 2018.
  63.
  64. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:55 PM
  65. Alright, then a verbal warning and a note for other moderation staff to be on the lookout for similar behavior should probably do it for him.
  66.
  67. Mini MooseToday at 4:55 PM
  68. Alright, anything else you wish to add before we move to the next scenario?
  69.
  70. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:55 PM
  71. Nothing else.
  72.
  73. Mini MooseToday at 4:57 PM
  74. Alright.
  75.
  76. The round is heist, it's highpop, meaning the raider team's size is at a max of six. About forty minutes into the round, a player ahelps saying "Wow, ok, these raiders ganked me outside of mining, lmao." What do you do?
  77.
  78. ParadoxSpaceToday at 4:58 PM
  79. If I'm playing, I find somewhere safe (a toilet) to aghost. If not, I move over there as an observer. I respond to the ahelp asking for further details, while scrolling up to look for attack logs related to the incident.
  80.
  81. Mini MooseToday at 5:00 PM
  82. In the logs, you find that the player actually attacked the raider team first then tried to run away.
  83.
  84. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:01 PM
  85. What do his notes look like?
  86.
  87. Mini MooseToday at 5:01 PM
  88. He has repeated offenses of being nasty in ahelps, powergaming and one warning regarding possible metagaming.
  89.
  90. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:04 PM
  91. Being that he hasn't communicated in good will, and has previous issues in being noncompliant and a nasty little man in ahelps, a ban lasting anywhere between 10080 and ∞ minutes should be applied (after explaining that lying to administration is never alright, and clearly states in the rules pretty much will result in a ban, especially with his previous behavior. Would need a senior member to apply a perma tho.) A warning should probably be put on too.
  92. The rest of the incident is pretty small in comparison.
  93.
  94. Mini MooseToday at 5:10 PM
  95. Give me a moment.
  96. Alright, is that all you have to say about the scenario?
  97.
  98. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:15 PM
  99. Yes, that should probably do it.
  100.
  101. Mini MooseToday at 5:16 PM
  102. Ok.
  103. A Cyborg kills a crew member who was killing two other crew members. The member that they killed has not been declared any kind of threat. The Borg is bound to the default lawset. What do you do here?
  104.
  105. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:17 PM
  106. Module?
  107.
  108. Mini MooseToday at 5:17 PM
  109. Security.
  110.
  111. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:17 PM
  112. Notes/warnings?
  113.
  114. Mini MooseToday at 5:17 PM
  115. There are no notes regarding this specific situation. Or anything similar.
  116.
  117. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:19 PM
  118. What do you mean bound to the default lawset?
  119.
  120. Mini MooseToday at 5:20 PM
  121. The general borg lawset
  122.
  123. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:20 PM
  124. You said this in reference to the member that they killed.
  125. Did you mean the cyborg?
  126. Regardless, I adminPM them. The goal is to establish why they did what they did, and inform them that it's preferable for a Security borg to capture people. It's pretty difficult for one to actually kill a person, it'd require a lot of harmbatons.
  127. Unless, of course, the crewmember was somewhy unstunnable and uncuffable.
  128.
  129. Mini MooseToday at 5:23 PM
  130. I messed up the question.
  131. Sorry it's been a long day.
  132.
  133. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:24 PM
  134. It's cool.
  135.
  136. Mini MooseToday at 5:24 PM
  137. Ok. Fixed.
  138.
  139. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:24 PM
  140. Better.
  141.
  142. Mini MooseToday at 5:25 PM
  143. Go ahead and answer the question now, it's fixed.
  144.
  145. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:26 PM
  146. My answer has not changed, except that it would be more pressing to tell them that it's preferable to capture, and that you shouldn't kill someone that the rest of Security/Command has not declared a threat.
  147.
  148. Mini MooseToday at 5:28 PM
  149. Alright. Anything else to add before we move on to the next?
  150.
  151. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:29 PM
  152. A note's warranted on the borg, they don't have past behavior like this so I doubt a warning or ban would be needed.
  153. That'd be all.
  154.
  155. Mini MooseToday at 5:40 PM
  156. Alright.
  157.
  158. You notice a staffmember (secondary administrator) who often spawns weapons for themselves, handles their own tickets, and toggles godmode ingame. How would you handle this situation?
  159.
  160. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:41 PM
  161. There is nothing that I, David, can do to Secondary Administrator, Goliath, as a trialmod. They're not liable or even required to listen to me, so I would have to take that one up with Alberyk or Garnascus.
  162. Though I'd have to collect logs and game IDs about it.
  163.
  164. Mini MooseToday at 5:42 PM
  165. Is that all you wish to say on this?
  166.
  167. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:42 PM
  168. Yes. Pathetic, I know, but there's very little that I can do about it. There's a chain of command for these kinds of things.
  169. Unless a primarymin can handle it.
  170. In which, hey ,that works.
  171.
  172. Mini MooseToday at 5:46 PM
  173. Trialmods can still warn/note Admins+. As a moderator, you can enforce the rules on even a Headmin.
  174.
  175. That beings said, do you still want to continue with this course of action?
  176.
  177. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:48 PM
  178. Oh. Sick. Alright, I'll definitely need to place a severe warning and note on them after talking to them (sternly), while being sure to bring it up to my superiors. They'd know better, it takes some time to become a Secondary.
  179.
  180. Mini MooseToday at 5:53 PM
  181. The admin tries to reason with you saying he/she is just furthering the round progression, and deletes the warning from themself, then threatens to have you fail your trial
  182.
  183. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:55 PM
  184. I inform them that it's still against the rules to spawn things for themselves, give themselves advantages, or handle their own tickets. I also remind them that it's not their place to fail my trial (nor will it stop the rules from being enforced), and I reapply the warning, seeing if I can get another admin involved (since they'd have more POWER than I.)
  185.
  186. Mini MooseToday at 5:58 PM
  187. Alright. Anything else to add?
  188.
  189. ParadoxSpaceToday at 5:59 PM
  190. Nothing else. Apologies, I didn't know mods could warn/note staffers of higher level.
  191.
  192. Mini MooseToday at 5:59 PM
  193. It's alright, you should still inform superiors if that takes place.
  194. Now for a few questions that are related to you. Are you ready?
  195.
  196. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:01 PM
  197. Ready.
  198.
  199. Mini MooseToday at 6:07 PM
  200. This was addressed in your application by Schev and VT, if I recall properly.
  201.
  202. You have a past of getting heated and can be a bit abrasive when it comes to certain topics and discussions.
  203.
  204. Do you think you can improve on this during your trial if you are accepted?
  205.
  206. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:09 PM
  207. Yes, I will be doing my absolute best to separate my feelings from discussions in which I know they'd get out of hand.
  208.
  209. Mini MooseToday at 6:09 PM
  210. Alright. Anything else to add before the next one?
  211.
  212. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:09 PM
  213. Nothing else.
  214.
  215. Mini MooseToday at 6:12 PM
  216. Alright.
  217.
  218. Some staff members would like a bit more of an in-depth reason on why You decides to apply as a mod.
  219.
  220. Could you give us one?
  221.
  222. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:14 PM
  223. That's a great question, thank you for coming to me with it.
  224.
  225. A lot of my good friends have had complaints before about the server, which I found myself frustrated at being unable to do anything about. Stuff like the Discord being a landfill, feeling like their ahelps won't be answered (or will just be met with IC issue). I take a lot of passion in Aurora, it's my favorite SS13 server, and I would like to up my ability to help it be a better place for everyone.
  226. I want people to love Aurora, I want people to come here, and I want people to feel comfy.
  227.
  228. Mini MooseToday at 6:14 PM
  229. Alright, anything else to add to it?
  230.
  231. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:14 PM
  232. Nothing else.
  233.
  234. Mini MooseToday at 6:15 PM
  235. Being a moderator sometimes means having to make difficult decisions. This could mean handling a ticket of or applying punishment to a friend, banning someone who has honestly been trying to change but can't, or any number of other difficult or sensitive situations. How do you feel you will handle this task, and what steps will you take when you run into situations such as these?
  236.
  237. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:17 PM
  238. I will be somewhat sad at the potential loss of someone who's been, in earnest, trying to be a better individual, but I would accept that's part of the job. I wouldn't handle any of them differently than I would handle anyone else, nor with anyone who is, y'know. A
  239. 'regular', someone that's been here for awhile and are well-established in the community. They should all be treated equally.
  240.
  241. Mini MooseToday at 6:18 PM
  242. Anything else to add to that?
  243.
  244. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:18 PM
  245. Nothing else. I feel I can remain unbiased when carrying out my duties.
  246. Was there anything else you wanted me to address related to that?
  247.
  248. Mini MooseToday at 6:26 PM
  249. No, sorry. In the car.
  250. Give me a moment.
  251.
  252. Mini MooseToday at 6:42 PM
  253. Back
  254.
  255. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:42 PM
  256. Hewwo
  257.
  258. Mini MooseToday at 6:43 PM
  259. Ready for the next?
  260.
  261. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:43 PM
  262. Yes.
  263.
  264. Mini MooseToday at 6:43 PM
  265. Do you feel your position as a lore developer will affect your thought process as a moderator, whether positively or negatively?
  266.
  267. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:45 PM
  268. I think it will help me positively, as I will be more on the lookout for anything in major violation of lore, and be in a position to help my fellow writers be able to enforce that kind of thing.
  269.
  270. Mini MooseToday at 6:46 PM
  271. Alright
  272. Ready for the second to last?
  273.
  274. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:46 PM
  275. Very.
  276.
  277. Mini MooseToday at 6:46 PM
  278. This one is important, so be as detailed as possible.
  279. How do you feel your past history on the server, with other players not a part of staff included, influences your moderator application? Honesty is encouraged here.
  280.
  281. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:50 PM
  282. If you're referring to the way I've interacted with players on the Discord/elsewhere (in a generally negative fashion), I am hoping that this interview will show that, well, I'm serious about this, and generally know what I'm doing. I've been avoiding mass-linking my application until now, because I had nothing much to show. Actions mean a lot more than me making promises that I'm seriously invested in doing this.
  283.
  284. I don't have much of a history ingame, except for previous warnings/notes related to getting into fights a lot. I have recently been dialing back a lot on that, so it shouldn't affect my application.
  285. Was there anything more to that you wanted?
  286.
  287. Mini MooseToday at 6:57 PM
  288. That is satisfactory. Now, for the last question.
  289. This is the most important of them all, so do not be shocked when you see it. Take your time to think it out, and be sure to make a very detailed answer.
  290. Are you prepared?
  291.
  292. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:57 PM
  293. Yes. (though you will have to let me eat)
  294.
  295. Mini MooseToday at 6:58 PM
  296. No eating.
  297.
  298. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:58 PM
  299. i have to ;-;
  300.
  301. Mini MooseToday at 6:58 PM
  302. No.
  303. Can I post this to your application thread or would you prefer it be kept private within staff channels?
  304.
  305. ParadoxSpaceToday at 6:58 PM
  306. Post it.
  307. Now.
  308.
  309. Mini MooseToday at 6:58 PM
  310. Lovely, interview complete.
