  1. Okay apologies in advance I have more than a few thoughts
  2.
  3. - When I get a business card, I skim for: name, profession (to jog my memory about what our reason for talking was/why I should reach out), social media, contact info (email address, I don't need/want their number), and a link to learn more about them. I don't need all the above info, but it's all helpful.
  4. - When I leave a conference, I have a pile of business cards in my purse and it's depressing because at that point I'm exhausted from the conference and I don't want to sort through them and more often than not I just ignore all but a few for 6 months (even though I shouldn't! sales are in there!) and end up throwing them away. If a business card is brightly colored or has a bold graphic or something to make it stand out from the sea of white/gray/black tones, it jogs my memory a bit as to who gave me it and I want to pull it out of the pile more.
  5. - It's also nice when the business card has a blank space and the person writes more about our conversation on there. In my case it's stuff like "would love to use basis in webvr" or "we should meet up next time you're in SF!" or anything else we said we should do at the end of the conversation but know we're likely both going to forget about in 2 hours because of the conference hecticness
  6. - I am a regular conference goer and I do not use business cards. Instead, I aggressively ask to send them an e-mail or social media message and I essentially write what I would've in that blank space on the business card. That way I avoid getting dumped in the business card pile and forgotten about, my message is right there and they *always* respond and follow up, always. The downside of this is if things are loud or rushed or involve a group of people it's much harder to coordinate this, and it requires being more pushy, so it's not something I recommend but it works well for me. Maybe both techniques combined are best!
