  1. [15:56:01] <gm> oh wait one more min Biddle !!
  2. [15:56:13] <gm> you know our link with azubu?
  3. [15:56:16] <gm> a site like twitch
  4. [15:56:22] <Biddle> not heard of it yet, but have the strong fealing I will very soon :)
  5. [15:56:34] <Biddle> well, a lot of famous twitch channels use IRC as main chat
  6. [15:56:37] <gm> we host their chat page now, and often get 1k-10k users on a channel from em
  7. [15:56:53] <gm> and for all that to work, and their site to make auths with Q etc, there was masses of dev work
  8. [15:57:07] <Biddle> Can imagine it
  9. [15:57:46] <gm> hg.quakenet.org has all our public stuff on, if you're interested. you can see the dates of the changes to see whats being worked on
  10. [15:59:30] <gm> even i've written a lua bot that runs off newserv there :p
  11. [15:59:38] <gm> not that i'm a dev, but i wanted to learn it
  12. [15:59:39] <Biddle> hehe, congratz!
  13. [16:00:20] <gm> actually i made 2. a botnet spam bot, which spawned 100k bots on 1 channel if i wanted it, and another which glined them :p
  14. [16:00:54] <gm> although my test server froze when i hit about 56k bots on 1 channel
  15. [16:01:07] <gm> u do it via newserv and linking your bot as a server
  16. [16:02:21] <Biddle> I was wondering if there was not a plan to get IRC more or less back on the table concerning nowadays internet's users expectations. I mean, any person under 20 would feal IRC's current way of working completly hostile, no ?
  17. [16:02:40] <gm> thats what we're doing right now
  18. [16:02:54] <gm> the way is via social media, and linking our webchat page
  19. [16:03:02] <gm> not changes, just expansion
  20. [16:03:19] <Biddle> So basicaly integrating webchat where ever you can to get users
  21. [16:03:40] <gm> and like azubu's chat client. thats hosted on their site but uses our network
  22. [16:03:45] <gm> the code is amazing how it works
  23. [16:04:29] <gm> and we offer the companies a free already-working chat system with staff in place to deal with abuse etc
  24. [16:05:23] <gm> the user has no idea its irc too, or that they have a q auth made for them which is linked to azubu's site userlist
  25. [16:05:34] <Biddle> I see :)
  26. [16:06:17] <Biddle> makes think of Urban Terror..
  27. [16:06:34] <gm> yer?
  28. [16:07:14] <Biddle> you know we are working on the HD version
  29. [16:07:33] <gm> feel free to chat to us about key give-aways etc
  30. [16:07:41] <gm> if you've seen us do that to promote games
  31. [16:07:57] <Biddle> I have indeed
  32. [16:09:24] <Biddle> we started to dev a little more seriously a couple months ago after UE4 was realeased, still in our free time of course
  33. [16:09:40] <gm> ah right
  34. [16:09:47] <gm> sounds like qnet
  35. [16:09:49] <Biddle> I was thinking that doing something with the chat with IRC could be something to think about
  36. [16:10:12] <Biddle> why so ?
  37. [16:10:28] <gm> strange you say that. i've worked on another game (swgemu.com) and that has a massive chat system ingame, which i was considering linking to irc
  38. [16:10:37] <gm> because its in your free time
  39. [16:10:43] <Biddle> oh yes ok
  40. [16:11:45] <Biddle> Well yeah, like every video online multiplayer games nowadays chat is one important thing
  41. [16:11:57] <gm> definately
  42. [16:12:06] <Biddle> And getting something linked to IRC could be cool
  43. [16:12:10] <gm> azubu realised that when adding chat to their site
  44. [16:12:33] <Biddle> cause Qnet is the place where you'll find the most UrT players
  45. [16:12:43] <gm> exact;y
  46. [16:12:46] <gm> *exactly
  47. [16:13:09] <gm> my idea was to take the source or our ircd and merge that into the source of the game we were making, and run it on its own thread
  48. [16:13:19] <Biddle> We already use IRC for so many things, especially match making since it's not something implemented in our 1999 game
  49. [16:13:32] <Biddle> so on an other network dedicated to the game?
  50. [16:13:45] <gm> yer
  51. [16:13:51] <gm> on its own server
  52. [16:14:01] <gm> but that could be linked via port 4400
  53. [16:14:10] <gm> what you could do is link to us as azubu does
  54. [16:14:10] <Biddle> which people could also chat in through their client without being necessarily in game
  55. [16:14:21] <gm> yer
  56. [16:14:24] <gm> and a phone app etc :)
  57. [16:14:32] <gm> ya gotta hit em from all angles nowdays
  58. [16:14:32] <Biddle> sure
  59. [16:14:54] <Biddle> Well, that's something that would need a lot of discussions to tell you that we're going to do it that way.
  60. [16:15:32] <Biddle> But I'll approach the rest of the team to see how each of them are seing things, and check out if they like that idea
  61. [16:15:41] <gm> yer, just brainstorming while my painkillers kick in :p
  62. [16:15:57] <gm> come back to me, if you've got any news then! You know where and how to contact me :)
