  3. 00) Where to Find Files
  4. All current, official PTU books and documents will available in the #read-me-first channel.
  5.
  6. If you are caught asking where to find PDFs in #rules-questions, you will be bullied.
  7.
  8. 01) STAB - Same Type Attack Bonus
  9. If a Move has rolled damage and shares a type with the attacker, you ALWAYS add the +2 damage bases from STAB AFTER all other modifications. That's the whole rule.
  10. Do NOT add STAB in any of the following situations:
  11. a) the Attack is not a Move - ie it is a Struggle
  12. b) the Move does not match the attacker's Type - this includes Typeless Trainers not receiving STAB on Normal Moves
  13. c) the Move does not have a rolled Damage Base - ie Night Shade
  14.
  15. 02) Five Strike / Fivestrike
  16. If a Move has the Five Strike keyword, modify the damage base via the d8 roll BEFORE any other changes INCLUDING changes from Technician, Adaptability, and STAB. Just like doing math, you should always multiply BEFORE you add. Five Strike Moves always add the +2 bonus from Technician, if the user has that Ability.
  17. While the keyword description uses the word 'hits', do NOT apply any additional effects more than once. Effects that trigger on hit do not trigger multiple times on Five Strike.
  18.
  19. Example: Fearow (Normal/Flying) uses Fury Attack (a Normal Move) and rolls a 5 on the d8 check for Five Strike. The Damage Base 2 is multiplied by the Five Strike factor of 3 to a new Damage Base of 6, THEN the additional +2 from STAB is added to a final Damage Base of 8. If Fearow was also holding a Razor Fang (Injures on 19+), it could trigger that effect only once, not three times, depending on the Accuracy Check.
  20.
  21. 03) Class Entry Features Count as Features In That Class
  22. The entry feature for any Class counts as a feature within that Class, for the purposes of any prerequisites or effects referring to number of features within a Class.
  23.
  24. Example: The Dancer Feature "Dance Form" states that you learn two Dance Moves immediately, plus one more for each additional Dancer Feature you have. The Feature "Dancer" itself counts as a Dancer Feature, so you gain an additional Dance Move.
  25.
  26. 04) Branched Classes Require Duplicate Features
  27. If you take a Class with the [Branch] tag multiple times, any Features with the [Branch] tag must be belong to a specific Branch. You must purchase these Features multiple times to use their effects that change based on the Branch.
  28.
  29. This overrides the rule that you cannot take Features with the same name multiple times. You may want to tag each Feature with the Branch it belongs to for easier tracking.
  30.
  31. Example: If you take "Stat Ace" and designate Attack as your Chosen Stat, then take the Features "Stat Link" , then take "Stat Ace" again and designate Speed as your Chosen Stat, you may only use "Stat Link" with Attack until you purchase "Stat Link" again for Speed.
  32.
  33. 05) Athlete / Athletic Prowess
  34. The prerequisite for Athlete labeled "Athletic Prowess" should instead refer to the Edge "Athletic Initiative".
  35.
  36. 06) Commander / Mastermind / Complex Orders
  37. The prerequisite for the Commander Feature "Complex Orders" is listed as "Mastermind", but should say "Commander".
  38.
  39. 07) Magnitude AC
  40. Magnitude should have an AC of 2.
  41.
  42. 08) Solar Beam Range
  43. The correct range for Solar Beam is Line 6, not 1 Target.
  44.
  45. 09) Controlling Multiple Pokemon / Command Actions Per Turn
  46. Each player Trainer may command ONE Pokemon per round (unless using Focused Command). This is on page 226.
  47. Additional Trainer Pokemon on the field that do not receive actions in a round can still be targeted by attacks and are treated as if unable to take actions that round for effects like Poison and Burn.
  48.
  49. 10) Evasion
  50. a) Physical Evasion from Defense applies to all Physical Attacks.
  51. Special Evasion from Special Defense applies to all Special Attacks.
  52. Speed Evasion from Speed applies to all attacks. This includes Physical, Special, and Status Attacks.
  53. b) Evasion from Stats (Defense, Special Defense, and Speed, and Combat Stages) caps at -6/+6 per Evasion type.
  54. c) Evasion from non-Stat sources (Features, Training, Items, Statuses, Flanking) also caps at -6/+6 and stacks with Stat Evasion.
  55. d) Because Accuracy Checks cannot be modified by more than +9, total effective Evasion caps at +9.
  56. d) To reiterate, you CANNOT apply more than +9 Evasion at a time.
  57. e) Changes to Evasion do not count as Combat Stages, but are cleared by any effects which reset Combat Stages.
  58.
  59. 11) Accuracy
  60. a) Accuracy changes cap at -6/+6 from all sources.
  61. b) Note that Flanking provides a -2 to Evasion and NOT a +2 to Accuracy.
  62. b) Changes to Accuracy do not count as Combat Stages, but are cleared by any effects which reset Combat Stages.
  63.
  64. 12) Taking an Edge or Feature Multiple Times
  65. You cannot take the same Edge or Feature multiple times unless explicitly stated in that Edge or Feature, or because the Feature is part of a Branched Class.
  66.
  67. Example: You can take the "Basic Skills" Edge multiple times, because it says you can in the text of the Edge. You can take the "Stat Ace" Feature multiple times, because it has the [Branch] tag. You CANNOT take the "Elemental Connection" Edge multiple times.
  68.
  69. 13) Pokemon Experience
  70. Pokemon Experience is cumulative and does not reset upon leveling up.
  71.
  72. Example: A Level 1 Pokemon receives 12 experience, which puts it past the 10 experience threshold to Level 2. Upon leveling up, it is now a Level 2 Pokemon with 12 experience total and needs only 8 more experience to reach Level 3.
  73.
  74. 14) Trainer Experience
  75. Trainer Experience resets upon leveling up. If a Trainer reaches 10 experience, reset their experience to 0, level up, and then apply any remaining experience reward.
  76.
  77. 15) I can't find this Ability! - eg Lancer
  78. Check the February Errata, which has a number of Abilities added to the 1.05+ Pokedex, including Lancer. Other Abilities may be found with their respective Gen 7/8/etc documentation and not in Core.
  79.
  80. 16) Tutors & Trades
  81. If a Feature that permanently alters a Pokemon specifies "Your Pokemon", the Feature's effects are lost if you give the Pokemon to someone else, and any spent TP is refunded. This includes things like Type Ace, Stat Ace, Signature Technique, etc - a Pokemon must still be YOUR Pokemon in order to gain the benefits of "Your Pokemon".
  82.
  83. 17) Attacks vs Moves
  84. Attack is a broad category of action that includes: Struggles, Moves, Combat Maneuvers, some Ability activations (ie Pack Hunt), and certain Items (ie Pester Balls).
  85. All Moves are Attacks.
  86. Struggle is an Attack, but is NOT a Move. Effects that refer to Moves specifically cannot interact with Struggle.
  87. Orders are NOT Attacks.
  88.
  89. 18) Stacking Effects & Effect Timing
  90. Effects that grant +/- Combat Stages (ie Swords Dance) or which resolve immediately (ie Sitrus Berry) stack. You can use Sharpen 6 times in a row and gain the full 6 Combat Stages from doing so, because the effect of Sharpen resolves by granting a Stage.
  91. Otherwise, effects with the same name or source do not stack. Conditions (ie Pumped via Focus Energy) or lingering effects (ie Charge) do not stack with themselves, you cannot use those effects a second time to double the bonus. Temporary HP never stacks with other sources of Temporary HP, unless otherwise stated in the specific effect.
  92.
  93. 19) Dumplings
  94. Dumplings cannot be made using another Dumpling as one of the ingredients.
  95. Dumplings give one (1) Food Buff that provides both of its ingredients effects one (1) time from one (1) activation. It may trigger off EITHER of the triggers of its base ingredients.
  96. Dumplings have the Taste of one of the ingredients used to make it - just pick one, or use Accentuated Taste to assign it freely.
  97. Dumplings cannot trigger the activation of additional Dumplings. If you are discovered to be using Big Mushroom/Lum Berry Dumplings 3 times in a turn, you will be banned.
  98.
  99. 20) Can Underdog / Realized Potential Pokemon use Mega Evolution?
  100. Yes, you can still Mega-Evolve even if you cannot undergo normal Evolution. Mega-Evolution is a temporary Form change, not "Evolution".
