  2.
  3.
  4. --------------------Chapter 1--------------------
  5.
  6. Traditionally composing of Omni 1: 1-3
  7.
  8. 1 I, Omni, was instructed by my father, Jarom, to write on these plates to preserve our genealogy.
  9.
  10. 2 I have fought in many wars to save my prople from destruction by the Lamanites.
  11.
  12. 3 I have not lived a very moral life.
  13.
  14. 4 276 years have passed since Lehi arrived in the land. There have been many periods of both war and peace during that time.
  15.
  16. 5 282 years have now passed, and I have kept these plates as I have been instructed.
  17.
  18. 6 I now finish my writing, and pass these plates on to my son Amaron.
  19.
  20. --------------------Chapter 2--------------------
  21.
  22. Traditionally composing of Omni 1: 3-8
  23.
  24. 1 Now I, Amaron, will write a few things in the book of my ancestors.
  25.
  26. 2 328 years have passed and many of the immoral Nephites have died.
  27.
  28. 3 They refused to live a moral life and work together, and have perished because of it.
  29.
  30. 4 I now give the plates to my brother Chemish.
  31.
  32. --------------------Chapter 3--------------------
  33.
  34. Traditionally composing of Omni 1: 9
  35.
  36. 1 Now I, Chemish, will write a few things in the same book as my brother.
  37.
  38. 2 We keep this record from one generation to another, writing down everything that is noteworthy.
  39.
  40. 3 We do this as intructed by by our ancestors.
  41.
  42. --------------------Chapter 4--------------------
  43.
  44. Traditionally composing of Omni 1: 10-11
  45.
  46. 1 I, Abinadom, am the son of Chemish.
  47.
  48. 2 There have been many wars and fights between the Nephites and the Lamanites.
  49.
  50. 3 I have killed many Lamanites while defending my people in war.
  51.
  52. 4 The history of my people are engraved upon the record of the kings.
  53.
  54. 5 I have no lessons in morality to teach that haven't already been written. What I have said is enough.
  55.
  56. --------------------Chapter 5--------------------
  57.
  58. Traditionally composing of Omni 1: 12-30
  59.
  60. 1 I am Amaleki, the son of Abinadom.
  61.
  62. 2 I will speak a little about Mosiah, who was made king of the land of Zarahemla.
  63.
  64. 3 He wanted to explore and settle a new city and had many people join him.
  65.
  66. 4 They came to the land of Zarahemla.
  67.
  68. 5 They discovered a people who were lead by a king named Zarahemla and were known as Mulekites.
  69.
  70. 6 The Mulekites were happy to discover us because we had kept a record of history.
  71.
  72. 7 The Mulekites had fled The Great City when they began to destroy themselves and were destroyed by others.
  73.
  74. 8 They also fled and searched for a land of liberty while in the wilderness.
  75.
  76. 9 They also crossed the sea and found the land as our people had done.
  77.
  78. 10 By the time we had found them, they already had well established their city and land.
  79.
  80. 11 They had still had many wars and contentions among themselves occasionally.
  81.
  82. 12 Their language had changed compared to ours and they had no records of their peoples' history.
  83.
  84. 13 It was difficult to understand each other.
  85.
  86. 14 Mosiah taught King Zarahemla his language, who went and taught other people the language, and so on and so forth till all of Zarahemla's people knew Mosiah's language.
  87.
  88. 15 The Mulekites in the land of Zarahemla were given the history of our ancestors, which was also their history.
  89.
  90. 16 The Mulekites wrote down their own history as best as it could be remembered on the other plates.
  91.
  92. 17 The Mulekites and Nephites united and they appointed Mosiah as their new king.
  93.
  94. 18 During Mosiah's reign as king a large stone was brought to him which had unknown writings on it. King Mosiah did his best to translate the writings.
  95.
  96. 19 The stone gave the history of Coriantumr and his slain people.
  97.
  98. 20 Coriantumr was discovered by the Mulekites, where he lived for 9 cycles of the moon.
  99.
  100. 21 It also spoke about the words of his ancestors.
  101.
  102. 22 His ancestors had traveled to our land much earlier than even the Nephites seeking a land of their own.
  103.
  104. 23 They had destroyed themselves in war in a land to the north.
  105.
  106. 24 I, Amaleki, was born during the reign of King Mosiah and I have lived to see his death
  107.
  108. 25 King Benjamin, his son, reigns in his stead.
  109.
  110. 26 The reign of King Benjamin has been marked by war and bloodshed between the Nephites and the Lamanites.
  111.
  112. 27 We were more prepared than they were for war, and so King Benjamin was able to drive them out of Zarahemla.
  113.
  114. 28 I began to grow old and had no children. I knew King Benjamin was a good, moral man, and so gave these plates to him. I gave him the instructions associated with them.
  115.
  116. 29 I instructed him to live a moral life.
  117.
  118. 30 If we live a moral life, and work together, we will live a happy life.
  119.
  120. 31 I will write only a little more about a large group that wanted to travel back to the land of Nephi.
  121.
  122. 32 Their leader, Zeniff, was a strong and mighty man, but he was stubborn.
  123.
  124. 33 He caused many fights among the people, and all but 50 of them died in the wilderness.
  125.
  126. 34 They came back to Zarahemla, and got more to travel with them in hopes they could make it to the land of Nephi.
  127.
  128. 35 I, Amaleki, had a brother, who went with them. I never learned what happened to them.
  129.
  130. 36 I am about to die, and these plates are full.
  131.
  132. 37 I am finished with my writings.
