- appears to have had full sleeve magical tattoos in https://i.imgur.com/HWk9i0X.png roughly this pattern. the thick black rings delineate the boundaries of the tattoos (and are present in the actual tattoos), whereas the blue in the center appears more like the ocean as seen from above. normally quite calm, with just enough surface activity to give it texture. the more intense their emotions become, the water stirs and becomes more active, at first through subtle waves and eventually through big, twisting waves like those seen in a storm, and the water becomes considerably darker.

finally, when casting spells, the water in these tattoos 'swirls'. it's almost like it switches perspective; instead of being the ocean as seen from above, the tattoos become cylinders full of water, whirling around their arms as though their wrists were the bottoms of whirlpools.
