  1. How to Speedrun the "Main Quest" with No DLC or "Any% with No DLC" in Pokemon Quest by DeMoNFLiP84
  2.
  3. A Beginners Guide to Speedrunning Pokemon Quest on the Nintendo Switch or on Mobile (Android/iOS)
  4.
  5. *** This guide is almost the same basics as running with the DLC but the only difference is that you have limited resources to start. Following this guide will help you build a decent team from the ground up very early in the game. Be aware that this speedrun can be brutal at times due to the heavy nature of the RNG (or Random Number Generator) that will occur during the gameplay of this game. In any case sometimes what you've planned for doesn't always come into fruition. With that said always have a fall back plan. ***
  6.
  7. (Most of this stuff in this guide was copied and pasted from the "Any% with DLC" speedrun guide. That guide is found in this link. https://www.speedrun.com/pokemonquest/guide/au1z4
  8.
  9. Be prepared for this because it is a very long speed game so I highly suggest that you schedule a day of dedication to this game out of your time.
  10.
  11.
  12.
  13. ----- Getting Started / Completing World 1, 2, & 3! -----
  14.
  15. You will be introduced to a tutorial in the game. Just play through it till you gain access to the in-game shop.
  16.
  17. Up to this point you should be able to do what you want in the game now that the tutorial portion is over.
  18.
  19. Depending on the platform your playing this game on you will receive some "Compensation Tickets" to help new players get started. We're going to take advantage of those free tickets.
  20. - On the Nintendo Switch you will get 550 tickets to start.
  21. - On the Mobile (Android/iOS) you will get 350 tickets to start.
  22.
  23. Now that your have all of your P.M. Tickets collected. In the in-game shop you will need to purchase the following decorations.
  24. - Flareon Cushion (50 Tickets) Effect: x1.5 More Red Ingredient Drops
  25. - Jolteon Cushion (50 Tickets) Effect: x1.5 More Yellow Ingredient Drops
  26. - Vaporeon Cushion (50 Tickets) Effect: x1.5 More Blue Ingredient Drops
  27. - Dudrio Tent (50 Tickets) Effect: x1.5 More Grey Ingredient Drops
  28.
  29. If you still have more P.M. Tickets then it is up to you on what you want to do with it. If you want to buy more decorations then I would highly suggest that you look in to buying the x2 (Any Color) Ingredient Drops. Those cost 300 Tickets each. Personally I would get the Mechanical Tauros. Also I would buy an extra Move Stone Storage or two. Buying the Pokemon Storage is not needed in this speedrun.
  30.
  31. If you already spent all of your tickets then that's okay. You will earn more tickets in the game later but you will need to save them for the battery refill throughout the duration of the run.
  32.
  33. You should be at 1-4 after the shop. You only have 1 cooking pot to work with and its occupied at the moment. For the time being go ahead and do some expedition runs until the food is done.
  34.
  35. Once that cooking pot is empty you will need to attract an Onix into your Camp. Onix is necessary because it gives off a high base stat thus boosting up your team's overall strength to help you progress through the levels and collecting stronger power stones. You will slowly build up your team this way but they should be durable enough to withstand the damages your team will endure.
  36. - To attract an Onix you will need 2x fossil, 2x apricorns, and 1x Icy Rock and add those to the Grey Pot. That meal will be done in 4 expeditions.
  37.
  38. If your short on ingredients alternatively you can do 4x fossil and 1x any small ingredient (The small ingredients are; Tiny Mushroom, Bulk Berry, Apricorn, and Fossil) to make a common Grey Porridge Recipe that will attract "Grey Colored Pokemons". Those pokemons being attracted are Rhyhorn, Geodude, Oddish, and Nidoran♀ (Female). They all have a 25% spawn rate respectively. That meal will be done in 2 expeditions. Or you could put on hold on the cooking until you have enough ingredients to make the Onix meal. YOU WILL NEED THAT ONIX EVENTUALLY.
  39.
  40. Learn your A-B-C! Always Be Cooking! Keep that pot full before going out on your next expedition.
  41.
  42. Bronze and Silver Pots will only be for your desired pokemon(s) into your team. They use up more ingredients to cook.
  43.
  44. I use this website to look up specific pokemons and this is really helpful! https://pokequestrecipes.me/
  45.
  46. Always be ready because you're going to be building up a team until you get the Pokemon(s) and its move(s) you've desire! In any case you will have to use what you've got if things doesn't work for you as planned!
  47.
  48.
  49.
  50. ----- Building Up Your Team / Into World 4, 5, & 6! ------
  51.
  52. Now that you have the Bronze Pot then you want to start considering using a pokemon or two from that pot to build up your team.
  53.
  54. *** Highly recommended in the Main Quest ***
  55.
  56. - Nidoran♀ (Female) is necessary for this run. She can learn the move "Flatter" in any pokemon stage (or evolution). Flatter is a close range negative effect move against a pokemon(s) that causes confusion while giving it increased Attack Boost temporary. When that confused pokemon hurts itself. The confusion damage is dealt 10x based on its attack stat while boosted. The move cannot be negated to Light Screen and it will work against all pokemons including the Bosses. May be challenging to attract into your camp.
  57.
  58. [Honorable mention] Nidoran♀ (Female) with Growl is a great alternative in the early game. Great crowd control against mobs! It's amazing!
  59.
  60. If your running low on Fossil ingredients then continue to attract using the Grey Pot instead. Nidoran♀ (Female) has a 25% spawn rate.
  61.
  62. - Onix is a Tank! This pokemon is really good for the Main Quest. Easy to attract into your camp. Its ideal moves are Rock Throw, Harden, Rock Tomb, and Stealth Rock. If you dont have any one of those moves then that's okay. Onix should be able to withstand damage till you re-roll another move later on.
  63.
  64. *** Pokemons to be considered good in the team for the Main Quest ***
  65.
  66. - Machop with Bulk Up is good if you have any Sharing Move Stones. Easy to attract into your camp.
  67.
  68. - Starmie with Hydro Pump. Hydro Pump is very strong in the game. Rolling for the move may be challenging.
  69.
  70. - Hitmonlee with Close Combat. Very good as an Attacker but attracting this pokemon into your camp may be challenging.
  71.
  72. - Weepinbell with Vine Whip. Very good as an Attacker but attracting this pokemon into your camp may be challenging.
  73.
  74. - Abra with Psybeam is decent until you evolve it. Easy to attract into your camp.
  75.
  76. - Kadabra/Alakazam with Psychic is a good move. May not be a great attacker against mobs however.
  77.
  78. - Magneton with Supersonic is a great move to fight against mobs. However the move may not work well against bosses but the move does land! Easy to attract Magnemite into your camp.
  79.
  80. Building your ideal team is totally experimental for here on. So use what you think is best for certain situations later.
  81.
  82. ----- "The Real Pain" / Into World 7, 8, 9, & 10! -----
  83.
  84. Based on your team thus far it would be easy from here on out.
  85.
  86. Now that have the Silver Pot at your disposal. You can continue to build up your desired pokemon(s) into your team if you have or been saving up ingredients up to this point.
  87.
  88. The main concern is that your Team's Strength will be very low going into levels throughout the duration of the run but don't worry. Your team should be strong enough to withstand the damages they will endure. Just make sure you equip them with the strongest power stones you've collected and increasing their overall Team Strength.
  89.
  90. Now its time to assign Nidoran♀ (Female)/Nidorina/Nidoqueen with Flatter into your team now. She will help you take out the toughest bosses in these worlds.
  91.
  92. To be efficient at using Flatter be sure to use the Scatter Button when necessary to get her into the right position or close enough to the target pokemon. Flatter does takes some time to fire up so plan this accordingly to the situation. The move is 100% accurate when it lands. Usually its instant death for that pokemon. To make Flatter more effective add a "Stay Strong" Move Stone or two to increase the duration of the effect.
  93.
  94. There's nothing more for me to add here other than the fact that Worlds 9 and 10 might be very challenging for some runners to complete.
  95.
  96. Just remember to be patient and keep trying until you get it!
  97.
  98. ------ Chamber of Legends / Endboss: Mewtwo ------
  99.
  100. Well if you made it this far then congratulations!
  101.
  102. Use Flatter on Mewtwo to defeat him. It's that easy!
  103.
  104. YES!!! You finally beat the Main Quest!
  105.
  106. Now you can start the run over again and challenge yourself to beating your own time faster! Bwahahaha!
  107.
