  1. For this 2nd vid, I wanna give insight in how you choose who to duel as you play the game. My first vid also has a Pastebin for it, check it out!
  2.
  3. - You need a minimum of 200 wins to beat the game, with the game claiming that you need to beat all 20 duelists 10 times (the Duel Proctor tells you this if you ever make it to Prince of Games, the ranking right below King). However, if you just go from dorm to dorm, and beat whoever is available, you'll count out a total of 18 people to beat 10 times, 180 wins, leaving the last 20 up to whoever you want to duel. (I'm stating this as fact, but this is just what I've found after playing the game continuously for around a year or two)
  4. - For the early game, you're using the Water deck. However, after 30 duels, you'll be able to make a Cyber Stein Machine deck, which can power you through the rest of the game. So really, the early game is just getting the DP necessary, and doing certain events as quickly as you can.
  5. - I try to have the first 30 duels be the exact same everytime I play. Here is who you duel, and the number of wins you have on them:
  6. Syrus (9), Chumley (7), Jaden (7), Fontaine (7).
  7. - You have those exact wins on the Slifer Red Duelists, because various events throughout the game give you a chance to duel them, and there's no need to get more than 10 wins on any 1 duelist... except for Fontaine. I find Fontaine to be the easiest person to beat, so I choose to go against her over and over to get to 200 wins.
  8.
  9. Alright, that was just some background information. I'll go into notes on exactly how I played the game in the vid.
  10.
  11. - First off, I make a few mistakes throughout the vid, so it's not super ideal. I'll try to play better in the future :)
  12. - My strategy for the Water deck is to basically play carefully. I want to summon Mother Grizzly, and let it get destroyed every game, thinning my deck to hopefully get Mermaid Knight, which is a double attacker with Umi/A Legendary Ocean on the field. You run a bunch of big WATER monsters as well that can control the game.
  13.
  14. 1st Duel
  15. - Around 2:40, I finally use those Upstart Goblin's since I've thinned my deck as much as as I could.
  16. - It takes me a second to think of the play, as I didn't know if I could do 8500 just looking at everything, so I tried mentally adding the damage lol. But with Snatch, Mage Power, and a few other monsters, I had enough for game, even with the Upstart's gaining Syrus 2000 life.
  17.
  18. 2nd Duel
  19. - So starting with the 2nd Syrus duel, I try to get in the habit of using a save state, as well as holding the R button before the duel starts. Also, you should hold R after the duel while you're opponent's talking after a loss, but I don't really do that in the vid lol
  20. - For this 2nd duel Syrus starts off with a set monster and 2 backrow. I first summon Star Boy to attack, hoping that I could trigger Torrential, Negate Attack, Magic Cylinder, or Mirror Force. If I can trigger one of those cards, I can then use Nobleman of Extermination to get rid of the other backrow, but unfortunately I just run into Gyroid, and hit a damn Pendant with Nobleman in the Main Phase 2.
  21. - Around 6:00, I chose to bounce Bokoichi and the Gyroid. I didn't want to bounce Dekoichi, since if he later set it, he would get a draw. Plus, next turn I got Mother Grizzly, which is great to suicide into Dekoichi.
  22. - The reason I run Magic Jammer is for 2 cards: Heavy Storm and Snatch Steal. Both of those can destroy you this early in the game.
  23. - The 2nd Syrus duel is kinda slow since he sets a bunch of monsters and I simply run into them with Grizzly. I want it to get destroyed, so if I had something like Luster in ATK, there's no way I could thin my deck. Later on, I use A Legendary Ocean, enabling cards like Giga Gagagigo and Levia Dragon to be summoned easily, and win the game.
  24.
  25. 3rd Duel
  26. - Around 11:10, simply because I topped Premature, I decided to discard my biggest monster at the end phase, intending to summon it back when it was necessary.
  27. - Around 11:25 I use Torrential on Cycroid, because I wanted to see if he had Seven Tools, which he didn't :( He set a trap the turn after I set Torrential, which is why I tried to bait it out.
  28. - Whenever you see your opponent having 3+ backrow, since you know that they all run at least 2 Magic Jammer, you can pretty much bet that 1 of the 3 backrow is Jammer. So you can use the least important spell you have to bait it out.
  29. - I consider the move around 12:50 a mistake. I used Premature hoping that my attack went through with Levia, but of course it didn't :( I could have played Umi, then used Levia's effect to destroy everything, but since I'd destroy Premature in the process, Levia would be gone as well. I took a chance... really I was lucky it was just Mirror, since Cylinder would beat me. I use Shallow Grave just to be able to tribute summon, hoping he doesn't top Snatch.
  30.
  31. Buying Cards
  32. - You hope to have at least 3500 DP here. The duels went kinda slow, but when they do, you usually gain more DP. I have about 4000 at this point, more than enough to be honest.
  33. - Here are my personal notes on what you aim to buy at this point:
  34.
  35. 1. Effect Monsters: Sangan* (Magician of Faith is rare and optional)
  36. - Spend 3 packs.
  37. 2. Various Fields: A Legendary Ocean*, Terraforming (II)
  38. - Spend 2-3 packs for 1 ALO, buy singles for Terraforming.
  39. The next packs to look at are the Spell and Trap Collections. They seem to open up randomly; you could view certain parts of the tutorial to automatically make them available, but as the weeks go buy they should come to you in a timely manner.
  40. When you buy a pack, there is a number in the upper right corner that tells you how many of that pack you have so far. For these Collections packs, buy whatever is available up to 90% completion after obtaining the cards listed with the pack. This will be important next week.
  41. When you’re low on DP, save some for next week and move on:
  42. 1. Spell Collection 1: Harpie's Feather Duster*, Nobleman of Extermination, Nobleman of Crossout/Shield Crash, Smashing Ground
  43. - Buy around 8-9 packs at once, making sure you have Harpie’s and are around at least 80% completion. Buy in singles to get to 90%.
  44. 2. Spell Collection 2: Change of Heart*, Mystical Space Typhoon* (Set Timing card!), Heavy Storm*
  45. - Buy 4 for Change of Heart, 3 for MST. 1 for Heavy.
  46. - ONLY buy up to 90% if you need Pot of Greed! Save your money if possible.
  47. 3. Trap Collection 1: Widespread Ruin
  48. - Just buy around 10 packs at the same time to get to 90%.
  49. If you see this it, skip Trap Colections 2 for now. It’s better to save your money, as nothing vital is in this pack. If by next week, you don’t unlock any other new Collections, and have over 1000 DP, then consider buying to complete it. But you can hold off this for a while. I’ll mention when I think it’s necessary to have this.
  50. Now lastly, equips. If you didn't get Pot of Greed, then you may have one of these already.
  51. 1. Equipments: United We Stand*, Mage Power*, Megamorph
  52. - Buy this pack only if you have the money for it. Buy 3-4 for either United or Mage. If they don't come after a while, then just stop and move on. Make sure to get Megamorph.
  53.
  54. - It's strange, I get Effect Monsters and Various Fields constantly when I play, but I've seen playthroughs when one of them doesn't unlock. If it doesn't for you I suppose you're unlucky.
  55. - You can get a lot of cool stuff from the Effect Monsters pack, but the sole thing I try to get is Sangan here. You use Witch of the Black Forest when the banlist changes, way way later in the game, but money is too tight to get it now.
  56. - Various Fields was taking a while, so I move on to Spell Collection 1, then come back to it.
  57. - When it comes to the Spell/Trap Collections, I find that they'll unlock randomly within the first few weeks. Those that don't unlock finally become available after the 2nd duel exam (I'll explain exams when I get to them).
  58. - I make a mistake trying to get to 90% completion, resetting when I finally had it.
  59. - Various Fields took a while but I got what I wanted. You usually get only 1 ALO since it's rare, but I got lucky and hit my 3rd copy buying the pack in singles.
  60. - Since things were going slowly, and I figure I'll hit another Spell/Trap Collection next week, I skip going for United We Stand and just opt to get Megamorph. You wouldn't BELIEVE how long it takes to get that card, I got super lucky there as far as I'm concerned.
  61.
  62. - For the early game, you edit the deck after buying cards on Tuesday. I make a mistake in adding Shield Crash; I personally don't run it if I already have Nobleman of Crossout.
  63.
  64. 4th Duel
  65. - This went by super fast, I opened Mermaid, ALO, and Mage, so I knew I could end the game fast. I got lucky in drawing both Nobleman of Extermination, clearing his backrow, and winning pretty easily.
  66. - If there's any potential speed in the Water deck, is equipping United or Mage with Mermaid, and attacking twice for game with ALO on the field. That's why you ideally want both equips, even though they are expensive, and at least 2 ALO 1 Umi (again, I got lucky getting the 3rd ALO). There's a Water pack you can buy on Saturday's, meaning a chance to get more Mermaid's, but you don't buy it for a while.
  67.
  68. 5th Duel
  69. - Polar opposite of the 4th duel. I open decently, with Grizzly and 2 Terraforming. On my 2nd turn, I play ALO intending to trigger Jammer, but I don't get it. I make a huge mistake in setting a monster before suiciding Grizzly, as summoning the 3rd copy triggered Torrential. You can freely set monsters on the field while going through your Grizzly's, hoping to flip all those set monsters 1 one turn to make a big push... but I forgot that Torrential is a card. I lose a few turns later and have to reset.
  70. - I win the next game. I equip YOMI SHIP instead of Mermaid for game, costing me sweet sweet DP. :(
  71.
  72. 6th duel
  73. - With 9 Syrus wins down, my goal now is to duel Chumley. I look around for the guy but he's not there, so I duel Jaden instead. The plays are straightforward; I'll mention that on the turn I had Mermaid and ALO on the field, I chose to attack Clayman twice, since I didn't want to deal with it in DEF mode.
  74.
  75. - I make the biggest mistake of the vid, somehow MISSING Chumley and going to the Gym instead. Kinds of errors like that make me wanna reset the whole game lol
  76.
  77. 7th Duel
  78. - At around 36:55, Chumley summons just 1 Nimble Momonga. I know that he runs 3 copies, which means he either has 1 in hand, or that's his other set monster. That influenced how I attacked the next turn. The play I make to end the game is solely to inflict the most damage possible.
  79.
  80. 8th Duel
  81. - I don't go looking around for Chumley, since I recognize this spilt in the game. At night, sometimes you'll see Banner by himself, or Banner and Jaden only, or Banner, Jaden, and Chumley only. Knowing that, I didn't waste time looking around and just went straight for Jaden.
  82. - Around 41:00, I make a play to put Yomi in DEF, and leave Mother Grizzly in ATK. I was hoping that Jaden couldn't summon a monster that could run over Grizzly that turn, I just wanted Luster to let me summon a Mermaid to the field. A few turns later I was lucky to have a certain combination of cards that gave me the win easily.
  83.
  84. - Last thing I do is to make 3 duels with Chumley via mail.
  85. - Overall win totals: Syrus (9), Chumley (2), Jaden (2), 13 wins.
