BACKGROUND : yoosun was born in taipei, taiwan in a small apartment with her two grandparents, as her parents lived in canada and came to visit once every year. she loved her grandparents and of course, spent all her time with them as there were no parents she could play around with instead. however once she had turned about five years old her grandfather died of cardiac arrest and her grandmother packed up and moved with yoosun to canada. she began school in canada and learned english and french in school, while speaking korean at home with her grandmother and parents. she hadn't forgotten her chinese that she picked up in the streets of taipei, however she never properly learned the language and her grandmother was far more comfortable communicating with yoosun in korean than chinese - she didn't feel yoosun needed to learn chinese until she entered school in taiwan as she had expected would happen, but ended up not.
yoosun did speak with her family and was rather talkative as a child, and she was a nice person yet a bit sensitive. every new school year, she cried but with no understandable reason. her teachers generally liked her and she kept up her grades in school, but lacking a bit in maths.
over the years, yoosun had new friends and gained new friends, however they all seemed to eventually move away. she couldn't name one friend who had stayed with her in the school for over two years, and even those who did stay in school seemed to leave her or get bored of her. over the years she became very timid and became a target for teasing, and that added to her slowly dropping self esteem. once the last person she considered to be a friend moved, she had already become very awkward and shy, lonely and sad. of course, she'd never show it and often used "i'm tired" as an excuse. she came home and after she finished her homework and showered slept, and refused to wake up until the morning. she was still nice to her classmates nonetheless, acknowledging they hadn't done anything rude to deserve an immature attitude.
during junior high school, yoosun tried to lost weight but no matter what everything seemed to stay the same, and she hated it. she didn't do much about it, though. however at some point, she began to look around and reazlied how much of a loner she was. but, again, didn't do anything about it. she continued living quietly and lonely, and even when she needed to let everything out and rant, she couldn't and always felt bad and annoying. one of her worst points was low self confidence and constantly feeling guilty for things not even her fault, and of course being too quiet. and she rarely cried. it just seemed so unnatural to cry. she often gets sick, too.
when she was 16, her grandmother passed and it left a huge mark on her. even though her parents didn't know their daughter's feelings that well, they knew how much this had hurt her and although she hadn't cried openly, she tried to be strong but after a week and actually realizing the love of her life was gone, dead - she cried herself to sleep. a month later, her parents decided to pack up and move to busan, where she lived just as lonely as she did in canada.
PERSONALITY : yoosun is the awkward penguin type, the one where when people needs to get encouraged, one look from her and they'd feel discouraged. she has this "stone cold" appearance and is extremely timid and quiet, however once you start talking to her she'll become a baffled mess that claps awkwardly while giggling profusely until you go away. if someone were to teaser her? she'd find a way to blame herself for it. but she's a generally smart and nice person, she's never gotten in trouble for breaking a rule.
she really can't open up to her parents or anyone about her problems, it's just she feels so awkward alone in a room with them, telling them her everything. even if a therapist were to come she'd be lying and lying, just wanting to be alone. another thing is, she tends lies a lot, almost every lie about her feelings. she finds it as a good thing though, if she were to say she's happy when she's sad, she's happy. no expression, but happy. no one can see through her. but sometimes, she wishes she could find one, one who looks at her eyes and gives her the warmest hug while telling her, "no, you're not. i know you're not and i'll be right here with you until you decide to tell me who, what made you feel what you feel."
though often alone, likes the aura of laughing groups of friends around her, since the atmosphere is so much better than when someone approaches her, such an awkward sight.
