  2.
  3. Alpine - Foolish: 7 alpine = alps = swiss = marmite mentioned !?!?!? [update: no </3]
  4.
  5. Apriorism - The New Dark Ages: 8 this isn't mgmt but it bangs anyway. it's uhh EBM (idk)
  6.
  7. Black Moth Super Rainbow - Forever Heavy: 0 these guys have that one super gross album cover right i didn't like that one sorry to this band i think they aren't my thing. this is just messing around with vocoder around over the most repetitive beat ever, and i love daft punk's *homework*, so they must be doing something wrong. sorry i hate this !
  8.
  9. Blazin' Squad - Crossroads: 4 i don't like this but i do find it amusing what an aggressively late-90s pastiche it is. oh that's because it's. a cover of a late 90s song. well !
  10.
  11. Boards of Canada - Everything You Do Is A Balloon: 10 the intro is so peaceful ... late night vibe (it is noon right now and bright and sunny and nearly 30 degrees out). sending this is kind of cheating everyone loves early BoC but whatever this is the downtempo-but-not-moby-car-commercial-music the children yearn for ! definitely one of the best Just Two Guys electronic acts of all time you know. (even though they appropriated my culture with their name but it's okay i forgive them as christ taught)
  12.
  13. Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights: 8 the thing about bob seger is that he makes music in the most aggressively 70s dadrock heartland style that i would normally find boring but he has some real Tunes so he gets the pass
  14.
  15. Boyz II Men - Motownphilly: 10 were these boyz still in the awkward transition between teenage and fully grown at the time. surely they must be men by now right. do they still use this name because they were once boyz. also what do they think of the kpop group "the boyz". i must know the answers to all of these questions. anyway i love early 90s new jack swing so i fw this heavy this rules
  16.
  17. C-Siccness - Save Our Boltz (feat. Roadeezy): 4 sorry to wane i cannot relate to this and hate this guy's voice but the instrumental parts are alright and i wish them luck with their football thing
  18.
  19. Carla Ahad - Banger: 10 it's right there in the name isn't it
  20.
  21. Cindy Lee - Kingdom Come: 2 yeah i had a feeling this would not be my Thing and i don't get it at all sorry it's making me anxious
  22.
  23. Congreso - Hijo Del Sol Luminoso: 7 chile please ||feel free to drop more music like this||
  24.
  25. Donna Summer - Mystery of Love: 8 sufjan sounds different anyway yass down boots disco or whatever
  26.
  27. Jens Lekman - Tram #7 to Heaven: 7 the lyrics are somewhere in between clunky and delightfully wacky but i won't hold that against him. it's pretty nice 2000s indie-pop and i have some nostalgia for that time (i clocked the belle & sebastian influence before wiki told me ! please clap). no my score is not a Bit by the way
  28.
  29. Joana Castanheira - Desapreço: 5 BRAZIL MENTIONED :bangbang:
  30.
  31. Jolin Tsai - 愛情36計 (36 Tricks of Love): 10 this is one of the very few songs i knew already as a cheeb (weeb but for chinese things) and electropop dork who has listened to jolin's whole discog (lots of heaters in there!) and also using this to practice translating chinese. i kind of understood a fair bit of it ! i've been working on chinese this summer a lot so please clap
  32.
  33. Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby: 8 got fucked up for a second because these guys are british but the singer sounded like the singer from the very canadian band hot hot heat (it's new rave i was heavy into in the mid-2000s) anyway a sick tune rock on :guitar:
  34.
  35. Las Yumbeñas - El Tema de Amor Que Esperabas: 5 i liked the part where it briefly went double time
  36.
  37. Los Amigos Invisibles - La Vecina: 8 now this is some funky sound of the summer type stuff ! i should really have spent the time to translate all the non-english songs but o well too late
  38.
  39. Luna Li - Alone But Not Lonely: 10 being real i am not the biggest fan of luna li's music although it's a vibe but it's a kind of bedroom pop type stuff i don't normally fw. however this is a really good song and i needed to send a toronto artist and felt like it would be too predictable to send metric again or a bigger artist (and someone else sent rush anyway). maybe i should have sent neil young but that's a sneak he hasn't lived here in forever. anyway i sent this because i think her music is nevertheless good and has crossover appeal to both pop- and indieheads as befits hybrid theory. also for the local connection i used to go to a korean-owned convenience store which has now closed which was right by my house. this store was *always* playing luna li's music videos on a tv above the counter and i swear they must have been luna li's relatives. therefore i heard of her way before she got noticed by fantano and stuff which i don't mean in a hipster way i just mean i think it's neat there was this unexpected link to her music idkidk. even more local even more hometown
  40.
  41. Melissa Etheridge - Come to My Window: 10 somehow despite working with han to make a pride playlist all month and trying to find iconic tunes that are by LGBTQ artists so it didn't wind up being all whitestraightwomansynthpop you know. somehow i missed this tune and wow that puts the L in LGBTQ for me doesn't it. anyway we are adding it now so i'm thankful ! good ditty
  42.
  43. mor ve ötesi - Cambaz: 7 every time i hear turkish i get confused and cannot tell what language it is and i thought for a second this was hungarian (lot of öüöü and very long words in both) and this is
  44.
  45. Neko Case - Thrice All American: 3 sorry to this woman her americana roots kind of deal never works for me i've tried
  46.
  47. Roto Rooter Good Time Christmas Band - Pico and Sepulveda: 3 christmas band in june sure i guess. why does this sound like the polka music my older brother puts on to be ironic sometimes
  48.
  49. Rush - The Spirit of the Radio: 11 sorry to jolin tsai who almost got my 11 but these guys have priority as a band i grew up hearing on the radio all the time and listened to heavily while a dorky teenager learning to play drums (RIP neil peart a legend). now i have a radio show which i have played rush on truly the circle of life for canadians. also even though this isn't my song it would be a rate win for me by proxy. it also simply feels right because rush are a bit of a meme here because of all the canadians and because darj had that geddy lee emote and most importantly this song shreds :guitar: :radio:
  50.
  51. Simple Minds - Someone Somewhere (In Summertime): 10 it's too bad these guys are known mostly for That one song (which is great of course) because everything i've heard by them, which is not much, i've thought "hey this rules i love this i love the 80s". at least this cut has RYM acclaim idk
  52.
  53. Soul Glo - Gold Chain Punk (whogonbeatmyass?): 3 baby ears but i do not like punk or adjacent genres much at all sorry to this man the fault is on my end and solely has to do with the musical style. skill issue
  54.
  55. Spoon - Inside Out: 7 i was determined to never let myself willingly enjoy a spoon song (joke) but this sounds nothing like i thought it would (landfill indie) and i like this cut. sorry to this band i skipped your set opening for metric one time under the belief i would hate your music but this is alright
  56.
  57. The Beau Hunks - Good Old Days: 6 spent a while trying to figure out where i first heard this oldtimey cut. get laufey to do a vocal take ! (this is a joke i do not think this has lyrics)
  58.
  59. The Mutton Birds - Dominion Road: 7 this is definitely one of the most 90s alt-rock songs to ever 90s alt-rock and i can get into that
  60.
  61. Tiger Trap - Puzzle Pieces: 7 calvin & hobbes mentioned anyway i was told this band was twee i don't think i understand what twee is because i don't see how but i'm vibing
  62.
  63. Transit - All Your Heart: 6 these guys sound alarmingly like "matthew good band with pop-punk characteristics"
  64.
  65. Who Is She? - Seattle Freeze: 6 it's not seattle it's me </3
  66.
  67. Yello - Oh Yeah: 10 silly memey tune that me and my brothers thought was hilarious when we were kids and would blast on the desktop computer's crummy little speakers all the time. ah that's youth
  68.
  69. Young Canadians - I Hate Music: 5 bold take. and yet you are making music ! interesting !
  70.

  74.
  75. Best Shwarma in Canada: 10 i'm confused is this telling me about the name of a specific place or asking me a question. in any event i'm not sure what i'd pick for best shawarma but i will give it a 10 because shawarma rules. when it's good, that is

  88.
  89. Volkswagen: 4 yeah their um history is cursed but that was a long time ago i won't hold it against them. however i think their most iconic vehicles (the bug and the van) are very ugly so idk i'm not a big Car Guy. i'm sure they're fine

  100.
  101. Covid: 1 can we not all 0 this or. in spirit we are.
  102.
  103. Roundhay Garden Scene: 7 nifty bit of film lore glad it was brought to my knowledge
