- Hello friends,
- I wanted to go into a bit of detail about what my plans were for the coming months as far as my stream/speedrunning is concerned. There's two parts to this: Schedule and Games
- Schedule:
- I've recently changed my "schedule" to MWF 6-10p and a weekend day 12-6p. This is always subject to change, but I'm really going to try to keep to it. I work a full time job M-F, so it's kinda tricky to find weekday time, and because of that it's also tough for weekends. We'll make it work :).
- The original intention with the schedule was to do short/no reset speed games Monday and Wednesday, casual games Friday and longer/reset heavy speed games Saturday/Sunday. The more I was thinking about it, the more I want to have Fridays to be more of a speed game learning type day, and once I've learned everything I want to learn, it can go more casual (or my mind may change again... who knows lol)
- Games:
- Along with a consistent schedule, I also want to have consistent plans for what I'm playing. In the past it's been very much a "what I feel like playing" type of stream which is great, but I'd like to start actually having a plan and real goals for my games.
- Games I've played:
- Reverse Badge Acquisition - I'm not really grinding this for a good time as I am grinding this into my brain. With SGDQ in a few weeks, I really want to know this run inside and out. Because of that, you'll be seeing a LOT of this in the coming weeks. Once SGDQ is over, this will be more of a novelty for-fun type run I might do to end a stream or whatever, but I wouldn't really grind it as it's basically NSC with an extra 15 minutes at the end.
- Red Glitchless - I *really* want to improve my time for this. My PB is almost 2 years old, and it's not very good. I might do this on some of the "no reset" style weekday streams while I relearn everything, and then it's gonna be full on reset mode. I want at LEAST 1:52, if not 1:51 or lower.
- Yellow Catch 'em All - Like RBA, I won't really grind this. I am running a modified version of this in the PSR marathon in August, so I again need to make sure I'm all over the route/notes so I can put on a good show. This will be a no-reset style focus after SGDQ. EVENTUALLY I want to go back and do a reroute like Blue got with banning oobLG/other things, but I just haven't had the motivation. Maybe after PSR?
- Yellow Glitchless - I've completed one run and have a 2:05. I want sub 2, and that's it lol.
- Blue Catch 'em All - I'm not gonna touch this until everything is somewhat stable/unchanging. It's too much to learn a route just to have it drastically change three days later. Once it's solid, I'll come back but I don't think this will ever be a main focus for me again. Maybe.
- L.A. Noire - I really want to get a full game run of this. I'll probably do a couple individual desk runs leading up to a couple full game runs. No real goal, I just want a run with no major mistakes. Not really something I want to grind.
- n++ - You probably haven't seen me play this because I do a lot of runs off stream, but this is my first real dive into platformer runs and I'm having a lot of fun with it. My PB is around 19:15ish for the Intro% run with 10+ deaths, and the best time is low 18 min. I'm definitely going to put some work into this. The nice thing is it's so short that I don't mind grinding/reseting over it.
- Games I haven't played:
- DS Pokemon Games - I have Pearl, SoulSilver, Platinum and Black... all waiting to be run. I just need a DS Capture. That's going to be my next stream purchase after SGDQ, (so any help people could give would be appreciated :p). I'll probably start with Pearl and work in the order I listed them above. I'm not sure what sort of time I'm looking for, or if I'll even continue playing them after the first day I try them. I just want to branch out past Gen 2 and Gen 4 looks like fun :).
- 3DS Pokemon Games - I've actually done runs of Omega Ruby like way back (over a year ago at this point) and I thought it was pretty fun so I'd love to do that again. 3DS Capture is the problem here. The bigger problem is I have a 3DSXL, and loopy only does the normal 3DS. I'm going to try and figure something out before Sun/Moon come out because I'd love to stream a first playthrough/speedrun of that when it comes out, but with the options I have, it may not work out :/.
- Another platformer? - I have a couple ideas here: Spyro, Wii U Mario, 3DS Mario. My girlfriend and I own a Wii U, but it's been at her place since we bought it. If we move it to my place, I can start streaming Wii U games and I'm sure there are some great speed games for me there. That also leads into...
- Donkey Kong 64! - I ran a Twitter poll and people voted for me to learn this. I started to learn it on the N64 and while I was definitely making good progress, there's no way for me to save. The way the run works, saving is impossible so I basically need to learn the game in one sitting, or leave the N64 on for days at a time. If I have a Wii U and get the game on VC, I can learn it with restore points and that'll make things LOADS easier. Definitely something that's still on my radar, so sorry it hasn't come up again since that first week :/.
- I think I got everything there. It's definitely going to be a fun ride and I'm really excited about my ideas and the new games I can play. I've been meaning to branch out of Pokemon into something more...active and I think now is the perfect time for it. Hope to see you guys around the stream!
