  1. So I see that everyone is doing these pastebins on Twitter, so I thought I'd join in since it's 10:47PM and I'm pretty bored right now. Not gonna write much since I wanna get this posted before midnight, but I'll just go over the runs I'm not embarrassed of from 2020, some shoutouts to people in the community, and then my 2021 plans & goals
  2.
  3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4.
  5. 2020 Best Speedruns:
  6.
  7. Pokemon Sword Candyfloss Main (4:08:16) - Most of my speedrunning time at the beginning of the year was dedicated to Candyfloss, and I can for sure say that it's the most fun SwSh category I've played by far. Even in a run where your main has set stats, there's a lot of skill/routing that goes into it! It's possible I'll come back to this one day, but don't count on it.
  8.
  9. Pokemon Colosseum Any% (3:38:50) - Colosseum is an extremely fun speedgame that I'd wanted to learn for a long time, and I finally pulled out a recorded run back in May. This run used very safe strats, and lost over a minute on one of the last fights, so I definitely want to come back to this
  10.
  11. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu Any% (3:05:19) - This run was quite good until I lost over a minute in the last half hour of the run. Don't feel particularly motivated to come back to this game though, so I guess this is staying on the LBs for a while
  12.
  13. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee Diploma runs (5:02:14 w/ JokerSleeps, 5:01:19 w/ Corvimae) - While it's not sub 5, I'm extremely happy with both of these runs and it was probably some of the most fun I've had speedrunning!
  14.
  15. Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu Baton Pass (3:16:32) - This run has such an interesting route and it was so fun to see how it would evolve over the time that I paid attention to it! I was able to get a decent run out pretty quickly, and I'm happy with the progress that was made with the category (shoutouts to jyash & kerbis)
  16.
  17. Pokemon Sword Any% with DLC (4:05:49) - After looking at the Japanese runners, I was convinced that Suicune was better than what the Western community had initially thought, and while this run didn't achieve my goal of sub non-DLC I'm proud of getting such a strong time with Suicune!
  18.
  19. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  20.
  21. 2020 Shoutouts:
  22.
  23. This isn't gonna be an exhaustive list of everyone in the speedrunning community who had a positive impact on me, but I'm just gonna shout out a few groups of people who I think made 2020 speedrunning a lot of fun
  24.
  25. Red Racers - The Pokemon Red 2020 tournament was a speedrunning highlight for me, and the community was most of the reason for this. Even though this was my 3rd Red tournament, I feel like I made more friends this tournament than ever before! I wanna specifically shout out Xminiblinder & Etchy for participating in the best Red race I had the pleasure to be a part of. Thanks to all of you, y'all are great!
  26.
  27. Let's Go Community - The Let's Go community was already a great small community in early 2019 when I was most active in the game, but late 2019 & 2020 brought many many more great people into the community! Specific shoutouts to JokerSleeps & Corvimae for doing Diploma runs with me!
  28.
  29. Candyfloss Crew - Playing Candyfloss was so much fun partially because of the great community of people who were running and pushing the limits of this category which was originally just a fun little alt main! Shoutouts specifically to Retrotato, Bungied2TheTree, and Ryziken in this category!
  30.
  31. Lastly, I want to specifically shoutout Svanes for being a great speed-friend I met this year, but doesn't fit into any of the above groups that I mentioned
  32.
  33. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34.
  35. 2021 Speedplans:
  36.
  37. I've already made a pastebin about what my future speedgoals are. Unfortunately, I change my mind on a (literally) daily basis. Here, I'm gonna list my current ideas, why I want to do them, and why they might not get done
  38.
  39. -Pokemon Sword Any% with DLC - Sub 4:04:13
  40.
  41. >Why do I want to do this?: It bothers the hell out of me that the non-DLC record is better than the DLC one currently, and I wanna try to get that changed, whether it would be me or another runner.
  42.
  43. >Why might this not get done?: It's hard for me to get motivated to sit down for an over 4 hour run. Plus, if another runner pushes that 4:04:13 boundary, I'll be much less motivated to do it myself.
  44.
  45. -Pokemon Sword Galarian Star Tournament - Complete a Run
  46.
  47. >Why do I want to do this?: This category seems like a very fun challenge run with the potential for some (maybe) interesting routing
  48.
  49. >Why might this not get done?: The task of learning a 7 hour run is a long one, and the legendary catching adds some frustrating RNG deep into the run
  50.
  51. -Pokemon Colosseum - Beat my Any% PB
  52.
  53. >Why do I want to do this?: Colosseum is an extremely fun game to play, and combine that with an easy to beat PB + a new route coming soon, I can't wait to get back into this game!
  54.
  55. >Why might this not get done?: Colosseum resetting is quite brutal and draining, and if the new route takes too long to get done I might lose interest
  56.
  57. -Pokemon Heart Gold - Participate in a manipless race
  58.
  59. >Why do I want to do this?: I've always wanted to run HGSS, but the manipped categories are just way to hard to get into. This manipless run is a great way for me to play HGSS and also interact with the DS community
  60.
  61. >Why might this not get done?: Unfortunately I can't easily capture DS audio because of my laptop not having the necessary ports, so I would have to order a couple things to get that to work
  62.
  63. -Super Mario 3D All Stars - Complete an Any% Trilogy run
  64.
  65. >Why do I want to do this?: Pokemon is great and all, but the amount of frustration with RNG can make it difficult. I've always liked Mario speedruns, and this seems like a nice challenge to get into them!
  66.
  67. >Why might this not get done?: It's hard for me to justify spending $80 on this, and learning 3 different runs to complete this could prove challenging for someone who doesn't run platformers typically
  68.
  69. -Undertale - Neutral runs
  70.
  71. >Why do I want to do this?: Not many people know this but I actually used to do Undertale runs a couple years ago, and with most of my other goals being long categories, I definitely want to have a run that can be done without having to dedicate multiple hours at a time to it
  72.
  73. >Why might this not get done?: Undertale has a lot of difficult tricks that could easily tilt me in the middle of runs
  74.
  75. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  76.
  77. Thanks for reading! And it looks like I made it in time to post this before the New Year! Happy New Years everyone!
