  1. [04:18] <dreamingBrer> [You're dreaming of a library. Not one of Derse or Prospit, but one from before the game. The rooms are long and the stickers on the book spines are peeling, in need of care that the librarians seemed always a little too overworked to provide. Eventually one of the sections would get closed off out of absolute necessity, and the books re-covered and the dust cleared away, and so it would repeat in unending cycles.]
  2. [04:23] <dreamingBrer> [You're sitting at one of the many large desks provided for study, the green glass lamp shining down on an album that was never in this library, when it still existed. Your chin rests in your hand, and you smile down at the pictures, lost in thought.]
  3. [04:26] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You pop into this bubble, and instantly let out an "ooo" and immediately head to the nearest shelf. Pulling off a book and looking a little disapointed when its in Alternian. You finger through it to see if theres any diagrams or pictures that'd let you clue in to the contents.]
  4. [04:32] <dreamingBrer> [You glance up at the sound, seeing a small- yes, you think that's a human, from the lack of grey on their hands- human, over at one of the shelves. The book she's holding would most likely be a veterinary textbook, with plenty of diagrams and pictures of whatever species of Beforan fauna it happens to focus on. Hesitate, not sure if you should interrupt her paging through the book. "Uhm..." you end up almost whispering, quiet out of habit. You are in a library, after all.]
  5. [04:35] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[The sound catches your notice. Oh, right, this bubble belongs to someone. You look around and spot the troll, inclining your head slightly as a sign of acknowledgement and respect. "<Sorry, I didn't realize someone was here.>" You say quietly in Arabic. Then again in English in case they don't understand Arabic.]
  6. [04:40] <dreamingBrer> [You smile. "That's okay," you respond in English, a natural, even rumble through your voice more evident now you're talking at a more conversational volume. "You'rre welcome to brrowse, but it'll be limited to what I can rrememberr. And I harrdly rread everry book in the librrarry."]
  7. [04:44] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You incline your head again and give a small smile in return. "Thank you, but I don't read Alternian. It'd be mostly lost on me anyways." You place the book back on the shelf and head over to the desks, pulling out a chair and sitting down, clearly too small for it. "Was this your library?" You had heard of some highbloods having massive castles, it doesn't seem too too odd for one to have a library.]
  8. [04:49] <dreamingBrer> [Fold your arms on the desk, looking around the room. "Mine? No, it was the univerrsity librrarry." Grin at her. "Werre that I could have afforrded such a collection!"]
  9. [04:49] <@godtierAfiqah> 3["University?" You ask, surprised. "I didn't think that trolls /had/ universities. What did you study?" Clearly more animated, this is something new.]
  10. [04:54] <dreamingBrer> [You raise your eyebrows- which, given the low hang of your horns, is almost unnoticable. "Well, everry good society should have a terrtiarry education system of some kind, forr those who wish to purrsue their school feeding furrther." Pause. "Oh- you might be thinking morre of Alterrnians." Pleased you worked that out, continue with- "I was a Lusus Studies student, beforre I began playing SGRRUB."]
  11. [04:55] <@godtierAfiqah> 3["Well, you're not wrong, though I never got to that point myself, but..." Your brow furrows. "If you're not from Alternian...where are you from?" Lusus, SGRUB all point towards Troll and, in your mind, Alternian.]
  12. [04:58] <dreamingBrer> ["Beforrus. The prre-scrratch verrsion of the apparrently farr morre common Alternia." Pause. "Parrdon- I forrgot to intrroduce myself." Reach a hand across the desk, offering it to shake. "Brrerran Unrrama."]
  13. [05:00] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You reach out and shake it. "Afiqah Radzi. Pleasure to meet you." You pause to think after retracting your hand. "I don't hear a lot about...Beforus. What was it like?" Beyond apparently more civilized, as any place that has a university is, in your mind.]
  14. [05:04] <dreamingBrer> [Scratch at your cheek, considering. "It's difficult to say. I have only the worrd of otherrs to know what Alterrnia, orr Earrth, arre like. To descrribe 'home' without experrience of an alterrnative..."]
  15. [05:05] <@godtierAfiqah> 3["You haven't rolled into a pre-session?" You pause briefly as you remember your only pre-session. "Or, I suppose, rolled in to one long enough to experience it?"]
  16. [05:10] <dreamingBrer> ["Only Beforran prresessions. Though perrhaps I will have a change to that soon. Still- frrom what I have hearrd, I can trry to descrribe it. It is less violent and concerrned with interrplanetarry conquest than Alterrnia. We still explorred the starrs, but forr me, I rremained on Beforrus, which was not left, as Alterrnia was, to grrowing grrubs and their lusii, but was a place forr all ages of trrolls."]
  17. [05:11] <@godtierAfiqah> 3["So, for Beforans, exploring the stars was for...science and exploration's sake?" Please say yes, please say yes.]
  18. [05:15] <dreamingBrer> [You nod. "It was indeed. And many a young psionic looked to pilothood eagerrly, rrather than with fearr. Though-" Shrug. "It was of less interrest to me. I prreferr to keep my feet on the grround."]
  19. [05:15] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[Ahhhhhhhhh!]
  20. [05:15] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[Ahhhhhhhhh!]
  21. [05:17] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You like this culture! Breaking into a huge grin. "I suppose it wouldn't be for everyone." Where can you sign up. "But you said you were studying...Lusii?"]
  22. [05:17] <dreamingBrer> [Another nod, noticably more enthusiastic. "You know what a lusus is, to a trroll?"]
  23. [05:20] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You nod again, still grinning. "A caretaker and guardian. Vaugely analogous to a human parent."]
  24. [05:33] <dreamingBrer> ["Yes- lusus arre Beforran fauna which exhibit a special mutation, allowing them to grrow farr more intelligent than otherrs of their species and causing them to often imprrint onto trroll grrubs. I know that many humans do not underrstand the movement to have ourr young rraised by what arre commonly perrcieved as 'wild animals'-" There's a brief flash of indignation on your face, but you continue smoothly, enthusiasm returning-]
  25. [05:33] <dreamingBrer> ["But, given the lack of easily trraceable lineage frrom trroll to trroll, because of ourr species' system of rreprroduction, this means that all grrubs arre carred forr, and therre is no need forr adults to be forrced into fosterring wrrigglerrs. The prresence of the lusus mutation therreforre means that all adults arre able to continue worrking towarrds the betterrment of ourr species in otherr arreas than grrubcarre."]
  26. [05:37] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You nod as he talks. "I wasn't aware that it was a quote-unquote /movement/ so to speak so much as the way things were done. Theres certainly some analogs that could be made between lusii and a family pet. Dog would probably work better than cat, but the point remains. 'Wild' is a pretty subjective term. Though I could imagine some adults, who have an inclination towards it, wanting to help raise the grubs themselves."]
  27. [05:46] <dreamingBrer> ["I would apprreciate it if I could be clearr that a lusus is farr morre intelligent than any pet, and goes thrrough much trraining and checking prrocedurres to ensurre that it will make a good guarrdian forr its charrge. As for trrolls who wish to rraise grubs...therre arre. And there are still, unforrtunately, cases wherre a grrub is rrejected by all lusii, giving the opporrtunity forr those trrolls to rraise them instead. And-" Your tone becomes disgruntled. "-therre are those who viewed all lusii as a /hindrrrance/, and called forr theirr elimination frrom ourr society."]
  28. [05:49] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You wave your hand dismissively. "There are radicals in all groups, their...opinions shouldn't really be counted as something important. And I didn't say they were identical, just that analogys could be drawn between them." You pause thinking back. "Anyways, so you studied them? Was there something you planned on doing after graduating?"]
  29. [06:00] <dreamingBrer> ["Specifically, I was studying how to carre forr and rraise young lusii- incorrect trreatment and trraining of a lusus when it is young can of courrse affect everry wrrigglerr it carres forr, leading to difficulties integrrating into trroll society forr the wrriggler, the prrematurre rretirrement orr death of the lusus, and incrreased culling rrates."]
  30. [06:01] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[Your face falls at that last part. "Beforus had culling? That...." doesn't quite fit, but...they said it.]
  31. [06:06] <dreamingBrer> ["Oh- no, it is not at all like Alterrnian culling," you reassure her hastily, hands flying up. "Beforran culling is the interrvention of trrained adults, when an individual is deemed unable to carre forr themselves- forr physical, mental orr otherr rreasons. It is about helping the trroll in need, hopefully until they arre able to rresume carring forr themselves, not about /killing/ them, out of some misguided attempt to keep the gene pool 'purre'." The distaste is clear in your words and expression.]
  32. [06:09] <@godtierAfiqah> 3["Oh. Oh. Thats...a relief honestly." You lean back in the chair and relax. "Much more...well, the word I was going to use was 'humane' but I guess thats a little humancentric."]
  33. [06:13] <dreamingBrer> [Laugh. "We can settle on 'compassionate', or 'civilised'." Settle once more. "That's not to say, howeverr, that the Beforan style of culling was a perrfect system- one trroll's idea of 'unable to carre forr themselves' can differr frrom that of anotherr's. Especially with hemocists."]
  34. [06:17] <@godtierAfiqah> 3["Well, perfection is boring at any rate. Means you can't try and improve it or learn more about it." You ponder something, he's alive, so... "Do you know about the intersession websites?" Probably should've asked earlier, but oh well.]
  35. [06:21] <dreamingBrer> [You nod. "Yes- I'm familiarr with the SBURRB.orrg Forrum, and the otherr sites within that arrea of parradox space." Rub at your cheek. "Though... I've been finding it a little difficult to settle all that comforrtably on any one of them."]
  36. [06:28] <@godtierAfiqah> 3[You nod. "I had a little difficulty with most of them as well, but if you haven't found it yet, try the Library. It's where I've settled, and well, I wouldn't mind keeping in contact with you? Theres not many who can claim to have some university education."]
  37. [06:35] <dreamingBrer> ["Oh- yes, I do have a Librrarry account." You smile broadly. "And I would be verry pleased to keep in touch, Afiqah."]
