  1. [14:08] Svengalf Sandsker asks, "Oh hello ! Are you then joining the class?"
  2. [14:08] Murka Vugluskr says, "Yes, I have."
  3. [14:08] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "And hello Sugarfoot !"
  4. [14:08] Murka lied.
  5. (Murka Vugluskr)
  6. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  7.
  8. [14:09] Sugarfoot exclaims, "Hey-hi!"
  9. [14:09] Sugarfoot offered a wave.
  10. (Sugarfoot)
  11. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  12.
  13. [14:09] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Ah ! People are coming !"
  14. [14:09] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Always good to put these 10 extra minutes."
  15. [14:09] Svengalf Sandsker chuckles.
  16. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [14:09] Torven says, "I'm also new here. My knowledge goes as far as "This tree has a name, and wayfinding is teleporting adjacent""
  20. [14:09] Katrina rushes up in a shadowy blur, still technically on time!
  21. (Katrina Astalet)
  22. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  23.
  24. [14:09] Svengalf Sandsker nods towards Torven.
  25. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  26. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  27.
  28. [14:09] Svengalf Sandsker says, "You are free to join us. The practice session will be relatively safe."
  29. [14:10] Bite says, "Uhhhhh. Suuuuure."
  30. [14:11] The lapine stretches his arms, then nods, observing those who are attending. He smiles, then starts.
  31. "Good ! Welcome to the second lesson of wayfinding ! This time, we are finally going to start some practice ! But before we start…"
  32.
  33. He glances over the people who didn't attend to the first class.
  34.
  35. "Those who have attended on the first class, would you be able to answer those questions from there to show that you have studied, and to give a short summary for those who only arrived today? The following questions are :
  36.
  37. - Who created the Lifestream, and what it is and its impact in the universe?
  38. - Who is Chireus, what he does, and what has he done for us to discover teleporting magic ?
  39. - What are the tenets of Wayfinding and how it processes?
  40. - And finally, what are the risks and dangers of unprepared wayfinding casting ?
  41.
  42. Raise your hand and tell which question you want to answer, then elaborate !"
  43.
  44. He smiles, awaiting.
  45.
  46. [Thite text which question you want to answer, and write in your RP window !]
  47. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  48. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  49.
  50. [14:12] Bite sits there and vibrates intensely as she knows not a single answer. School.
  51. (Bite)
  52. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  53.
  54. [14:13] Sytry says, "I'll take the risks and dangers."
  55. [14:13] Svengalf Sandsker nods towards Sytry.
  56. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  57. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  58.
  59. [14:13] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Feel free."
  60. [14:13] Katrina Astalet says, "I'll take tenets, I suppose."
  61. [14:13] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Works for me !"
  62. [14:13] Sugarfoot says, "I got who created the lifestream. "
  63. [14:13] Murka tilts her head. She totally missed nothing interesting.
  64. (Murka Vugluskr)
  65. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  66.
  67. [14:14] Sugarfoot didn't raise his hands, they were flipping through his notes. Decoding the intricate chicken-scratch from the first session.
  68. (Sugarfoot)
  69. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  70.
  71. [14:14] Svengalf Sandsker asks, "Alright. Who wants to answer on Chireus ?"
  72. [14:14] Just stands there, scratching the scar where his prosthetic jaw and face meet. He was pretty sure he knew some of these answers, but he'd be content to listen and learn, just in case...
  73. (Rök Allrstein)
  74. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  75.
  76. [14:15] Rök Allrstein asks, "Uh, I can answer on Chireus if no one else wants to?"
  77. [14:15] Svengalf Sandsker says, "That works."
  78. [14:17] Ah, the risks and dangers of unprepared interaction with the lifestream, how could Sytry forget... not that the others were any less remarkable, by any means.
  79.
  80. "The lifestream is like a fire," Sytry clucked, falling back upon the allegory utilized by Svengalf, "A purifying force, that can erode or wash away one's own lifeforce in its torrential current. The equivalent of physical death."
  81. (Sytry)
  82. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  83.
  84. [14:18] Murka makes a mental note about weaponizing lifestream.
  85. (Murka Vugluskr)
  86. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  87.
  88. [14:18] The lapine nods towards Sytry.
  89.
  90. "Indeed. But can you also explain what it does in our universe, and how it was created?"
  91. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  92. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  93.
  94. [14:18] Sytry says, "Of course."
  95. [14:18] Iraark smiled, the class was starting finally and it seemed they were all being tested early. The little goblin quickly opened their notes, though bits could come to their head a full explanation without his notes was a bit too difficult.
  96.
  97. "Tenets are Accuracy, Familiarity, Transcendt Understanding, Meticulousness Planification! Wayfinding is methodologic and requires concentration preparation and focus!" he looks up from the notes then hoping that was good enough.
  98. (Iraark)
  99. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  100.
  101. [14:18] Katrina went ahead and picked one at random, pulling up her notebook to check everything that she had written down before.
  102.
  103. "Ahem. Wayfinding follows the tents of Accuracy, Familiarity, Transcendent Understanding, Meticulousness Planification. It involves the study and understanding of the world, and is a deeply methodologic art. That is why it uses runic casting, the way of the mind."
  104.
  105. "An understanding of your destination is an important part of it for that reason, and is why you had us study that one sewer island for our homework."
  106.
  107. Those fluffy fox ears twitched as Katrina looked up from her notes, trying to figure out if she should say even more about it.
  108. (Katrina Astalet)
  109. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  110.
  111. [14:19] Katrina Astalet exclaims, "Oh! I thought-that was my question!"
  112. [14:19] Iraark says, "Does matter? From sound of it we're on right path! Am liking your answer."
  113. [14:19] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Someoen got a bit too eager ! But both are right."
  114. [14:19] Kurosawa Takanawa exclaims, "LAter, must go!"
  115. [14:20] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Take care !"
  116. [14:20] Shrugging, Rök woould cross his arms and close his eyes as he works to remember what he'd been taught about Chireus by Shevaun.
  117.
  118. "Chireus is the God of travel, messengers, gatherings, bravery. One of the Gods most aligned with Ualdir's own ideals." He'd begin, nodding solemnly to the thought.
  119.
  120. "He created the runes we now use for Wayfinding, and most traversal magic. Runes to traverse as ether along the leylines. Ergo Tropos, and Ergo Diareste."
  121. (Rök Allrstein)
  122. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  123.
  124. [14:21] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Right indeed. Also as the expression of wanderlust from Amier and humanity."
  125. [14:22] Sugarfoot nodded along, glancing at Zicoftryx and Bite. Ah, people he knew beyond the classroom attending. Which he thought was pretty neat! More reason to play it cool from time to time.
  126.
  127. Not that he'd succeeded at that mindset last time. It was tiring if nothing else. His gaze flicked over those notes taken last week. It wasn't what he'd call detailed, or well it was for him but most probably found it less so. Even his lack of number fourteens.
  128.
  129. Standing tall and puffing out his chest the diminutive Goblin read from his notes. All the while pushing the Possum on his shoulder away from said paper. Oswald didn't need to eat paper anyways it was bad for him.
  130.
  131. "The Lifestream is a motive force which is interwoven with the canvas that our reality is based around. The life-sap which ensures that the cycle of renewal and decay is carried out through the Yggdrasil tree. And like Eternia and stuff, but I think Eternia is the Yggdrasil tree....Moving on."
  132.
  133. "It was created when Divine Dragon General Ultima Nyssa and Constant Force Captain Alacritas met at the dawn of time and decided to dance together. Maybe they like each other? Not sure on that, anyways they danced together and through that dance mana and life intermingled into the Lifestream itself."
  134.
  135. Squinting at his notes he continued. "Also death got involved at some point? Since the Lifestreams can only flow nicely when things die properly? Not sure on that one... Anyways, I think that answers it nicely."
  136.
  137. Nodding his head the youth folded up his notebook paper and slid it back into his satchel. Before pulling it back out realizing it'd probably be needed before long.
  138. (Sugarfoot)
  139. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  140.
  141. [14:22] * You have been awarded 4 Levels! *
  142. [14:23] Murka yawns.
  143. (Murka Vugluskr)
  144. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  145.
  146. [14:25] Sytry glanced towards the other goblin that called out regarding the origin of the lifestream, awaiting their input.
  147.
  148. The stream, progenitor of souls and passage of life in its plurality... Sugarfoot's colorful description encapsulated the pertinent details of the stream's incipience.
  149.
  150. "I couldn't have put it better myself." Sytry remarked.
  151.
  152. "There are also the correspondences of Convergence, as well."
  153. (Sytry)
  154. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  155.
  156. [14:26] Helena, Shrine Maiden made a point to nod her head along every now and then with each new speaker, each new set of words spoken. A clear indication that she was indeed listening along. Despite her eyes having long since closed while she quietly sat there upon the grass.
  157. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  158. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  159.
  160. [14:27] Sugarfoot, naturally, puffed up like a rooster in the early down. Rubbing the back of his claws against his grubby tunic.
  161.
  162. "Thank you! Think it nicely." Declared in a cooing voice. Then he brought his hand up and scratched behind Oswald's ears. Eliciting a hissing purr from the animal.
  163. (Sugarfoot)
  164. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  165.
  166. [14:31] The lapine nods towards Sugarcap, pleased for his explainations.
  167.
  168. "That's indeed a good explaination. Thank you !"
  169.
  170. With a peek towards Sytry, he smiles as he notes.
  171.
  172. "As for Death, we mentionned about the Renewal Cycle, that once someone is deceased, their spirit returns to the Lifestream to be purified anew. As we will be travelling inside the Lifestream, we will be exposed to this purifying force.
  173.
  174. But do not worry, we will work on a proper way to protect yourself !"
  175.
  176. The lapine smiles, satisfied. He continues then.
  177.
  178. "Good ! Now that the first class is summarized, let's continue with today's program.
  179.
  180. Before we start with actually practicing with wayfinding, we have to understand what is Runecasting.
  181.
  182. I have mentionned in the previous class this form of casting. So to put some context first : in the schools of magic, there are four ways of casting spells :
  183. - Symbolic casting, from the feelings in the heart.
  184. - Visionary casting, from the view in the eyes.
  185. - Rune casting, from the mind in the temple.
  186. - And word casting, from the voice in the throat.
  187.
  188. Most magi employs symbolic casting, recalling within their emotions to cast their spells. It's quick, and instinctive, impulsive even. But such form of casting struggles to persist in the world when we cast from our emotions as they are ''temporary'' of nature..
  189. So while the emotions are temporary, do you know what lasts forever? Memories.
  190.
  191. And this is where Rune casting comes in. It is based upon your mind and your thoughts, reflexions"
  192.
  193. He smiles proudly, pointing to his temple from a finger.
  194.
  195. "Runes are alphabets and languages of the Divines. They hold magical instructions and code that is able to shape the world, the matter and describe it. Such as how artificiers can alter a weapon's properties thanks to these runes.
  196.
  197. Since they come from the mind, runecasting is very methodological and logical.
  198. You must actually follow some logic when creating your instruction, and storing inside the rune."
  199.
  200. The lapine focuses a bit. Teal colored magic wraps his hands, as a glyphs starts to draw on the ground in the middle of the students. It lays there, dormant.
  201.
  202. "Now, I have prepared a magical instruction upon this rune that will trigger if someone walks on it. Who dares to step in ?"
  203.
  204. He grins, amused.
  205. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  206. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  207.
  208. [14:31] Katrina Astalet says, "I'll do it."
  209. [14:32] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Sure, step in !"
  210. [14:32] It might not have been the best idea, but Katrina really hated just standing around waiting for stuff to happen. She was here to learn! What was the worst that could really happen anyway? It seemed rather unlikely that she was about to get set on fire in front of all her fellow classmates.
  211.
  212. With that logic at her side, the vixen took a couple steps forward until she was right on top of that rune. Such suspense!
  213. (Katrina Astalet)
  214. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  215.
  216. [14:37] As the student steps on the rune, it starts to glow. And suddenly, a shimmering prismatic glitter emerges from the inscription like a geyser, leaving glittering crystalline particles around. Fortunately : the dust would fade out after one minute.
  217.
  218. A small giggle is heard, as he continues.
  219.
  220. "To do this rune, I wanted to feel this explosion of glitter as a cantrip spell. But instead of casting it by my hands, I thought about storing this spell inside this runic inscription, then thinking that if something stepped on it, that spell would trigger. And this function, I called it ''Glitterbomb stepping trap''. That's what is written on."
  221.
  222. He points towards the symbols that composed the rune, before continuing.
  223.
  224. "Altough, do bear in mind : writing runes is Something you can not easily do in combat. You have noticed the time it took for me to write this rune, at least a dozen of seconds of me standing still as the rune was inscribed.
  225. There is a way to fight with Runecasting, but that's not today's class for now !
  226.
  227. Now that we know how runecasting works, do you have any questions about it ?"
  228.
  229. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  230. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  231.
  232. [14:38] Murka raises her hand. She has a silly question to ask.
  233. (Murka Vugluskr)
  234. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  235.
  236. [14:38] Svengalf Sandsker asks, "Yes?"
  237. [14:38] Murka Vugluskr asks, "Can carve runes onto people?"
  238. [14:38] Katrina walks back away to her usual spot, looking even more fabulous then she had been before coming up in the first place.
  239. (Katrina Astalet)
  240. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  241.
  242. [14:38] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Body runes are a thing yes."
  243. [14:38] Katrina Astalet says, "My brother has before."
  244. [14:38] Murka Vugluskr says, "...scary..."
  245. [14:38] Torven says, "I assume its a similar process to artifice"
  246. [14:38] Rök Allrstein says, "The pyromancers of the Few often do such- I have considered doing the same."
  247. [14:38] Svengalf Sandsker says, "I do remember even a doctor who would treat their patients with runes."
  248. [14:39] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Runic tattoos, to be exact."
  249. [14:39] The quiet girl finally speaks up. She did have a question with the runes. So quietly she raised her hand and then spoke up.
  250.
  251. "With the runes if you accidently draw it wrong is it possible you can hurt yourself? Or make yourself travel to the wrong place imagined? OR not work at all?"
  252.
  253. She asked her question's then went quiet again.
  254. (Rosemary Okabe)
  255. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  256.
  257. [14:42] {Item} You drop Copper x2.
  258. [14:42] Helena, Shrine Maiden says, "I second that curiosity."
  259. [14:44] Towards Rosemary, he nods.
  260.
  261. "Indeed. If a rune is too vague, or wrongly written, you can break the instruction with unforeseen consequences.
  262.
  263. To stay in the topic of Wayfinding runes, we will be writing the destination. If you write your destination rune to be ''an island in the middle of the sea''. Well, do you have any idea at how many different islands there are in the middle of the sea?
  264. Your portal could lead you to any of these islands. Or worse, it would divide you to all of these islands. The runes will struggle to interpret your instructions and can badly fail.
  265.
  266. Altough, most of the times for wayfinding, if an instruction is way too unstable ? It won't even succeed to open. Altough, miscalculations can be possible if you set it wrong.
  267.
  268. Any other questions ?"
  269. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  270. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  271.
  272. [14:47] Helena, Shrine Maiden gives an appreciative nod of her head.
  273. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  274. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  275.
  276. [14:51] Sugarfoot raised a hand at that one. Talking along at a rather quick pace so as to get it all out promptly.
  277.
  278. "Picked up Runewriting recently, went to Sewer Island, listened to the need for specificness as required by tenets and have question!" Declaring as his hand came back down to his chin.
  279.
  280. "Found on island that there was keystones, graveyard, Ravehold, beach, and Dungeon that felt quicker or slower. That mean best way to get where you want would be to..." Speaking along rapidly the you sketch rough runes onto his paper and held it up. Showcasing a concentric circle of runic language.
  281.
  282. Starting with first runes for sea, then land, then Ravenhold, its graveyard, and ending with a runic description of sewage. "Start wide scope and narrow down runes to specifics?"
  283.
  284. Scratching his head the Goblin continued. "Spent lot of time trying to figure out Island while there. Didn't like Raven place or Graveyard very much...Sewers stink, beach was nice."
  285.
  286. So it was that the Goblin jumped forward a touch but then again. Sugarfoot wasn't exactly the most traditional of thinkers.
  287. (Sugarfoot)
  288. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  289.
  290. [14:56] Hina Lam smiles towards Riku before giving him a bow.
  291. (Hina Lam)
  292. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  293.
  294. [14:56] Riku Abe bows back.
  295. (Riku Abe)
  296. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  297.
  298. [14:59] The lapine turns towards Sugarfoot. He listens, then offers a nod.
  299.
  300. "Indeed. To properly attune to with a place, you start wide, then you bring more details, closer and closer. It is important to learn and explore the place you want to travel, so you can better identify what makes it unique
  301.
  302. It is also worth mentionning that the senses are important. Not only what you see is crucial, but also what you feel, be it from the touch, sound, smell, and... even the taste, are worth to remember.
  303.
  304. The surroundings also are worth to acknowledge. Where this island stands near for example !
  305.
  306. All of these informations will help us pinpoint the location in the Universe."
  307.
  308. A smile is given to him, satisfied !
  309.
  310. "You did a good job to begin with. I am curious to see the results once we practice !"
  311.
  312. He looks back to the rest of the students.
  313.
  314. "Any other question before we continue ?"
  315. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  316. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  317.
  318. [15:00] Akroma S. Pradesh asks, "Is there another course today?"
  319. [15:00] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Wayfinding, yes !"
  320. [15:00] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "Ah."
  321. [15:00] Svengalf Sandsker says, "We are continuing with the second class."
  322. [15:00] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "Good good."
  323. [15:00] Murka yawns widely.
  324. (Murka Vugluskr)
  325. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  326.
  327. [15:01] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "Make sure you listen to Svengalf everyone."
  328. [15:01] Cathrine Silver says, "Hmm.. wayfinding.."
  329. [15:01] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "He is an excellent teacher."
  330. [15:01] Cathrine Silver says, "Intresting thing it is.."
  331. [15:01] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "I'm looking for a Cathrine Silver, I recieved a letter not too long ago, but I don't actually know what they look like."
  332. [15:01] Cathrine Silver raises a hand
  333. (Cathrine Silver)
  334. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  335.
  336. [15:01] Cathrine Silver says, "That would be me"
  337. [15:01] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "Ah."
  338. [15:01] Akroma S. Pradesh says, "Yes, yes, come."
  339. [15:06] The goblin jotted some more notes down. 'Don't start small, go wide! Wider than that! Feed Oswald, then go wide-wide!' Satisfied with this note to himself and a reminder to start the circling waves of runic inscriptions at as distant as a lens to where he wants to go as he could.
  340.
  341. As for the other senses at the location he understood them pretty well. Those crows were creepy, sewer stank, and the graveyard? Well it was just kinda stuffy.
  342.
  343. Glancing at his runic circle he found it dissatisfying now that he knew the weaknesses of it. Still he didn't have any other questions, offering a simple thumbs up as he awaited the next step.
  344. (Sugarfoot)
  345. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  346.
  347. [15:07] The otherwise quiet Shrine Maiden would chime up at last in her soft-spoken voice:
  348.
  349. "Friend Sven, I do wonder.. Can anything be achieved by multiple individuals gathering to form one much larger rune, one much larger pathway or gate, however one may wish to call it?
  350.
  351. She quieted once again. Her eyes still closed, sat quietly upon the grass furthermore.
  352. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  353. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  354.
  355. [15:09] The lapine turns towards Helena.
  356.
  357. "Mh. It could be possible. One works on writing the portal, while the others assist in fueling mana to maintain the portal open for larger transportations, yes ! It's rare, but doable.
  358.
  359. Anything else?"
  360. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  361. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  362.
  363. [15:10] Iraark exclaims, "Yes!"
  364. [15:10] Helena, Shrine Maiden gives a small, appreciative nod of her head, quickly returning to her quietness.
  365. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  366. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  367.
  368. [15:10] Iraark asks, "Is possible to wayfind somewhere without ever being there?"
  369. [15:10] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Feeel free to ask !"
  370. [15:15] The lapine ponders for a bit in the question.
  371.
  372. "mmh… It couuuuld be possible in theory. But it will be way harder without external assistance.
  373.
  374. To teleport to somewhere, you must be able to identify it. To see the place, and feel it with all of your five senses. And also, you must have a relative idea on where your destination is located from your starting position.
  375.
  376. Now… you could perhaps save this information into a glyph, and theorically, you could share such glyph with others. But that needs to be experimented further mroe !"
  377. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  378. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  379.
  380. [15:16] Clementine Silvanas says, "Hm..."
  381. [15:16] Murka Vugluskr says, "...can't use wayfindery for quick escapes through walls..."
  382. [15:16] Svengalf Sandsker says, "You can't, alas."
  383. [15:16] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Unless you ''know'' what is behind the wall."
  384. [15:17] Sugarfoot says, "Good scope work help with that."
  385. [15:17] Svengalf Sandsker nods.
  386. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  387. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  388.
  389. [15:17] Svengalf Sandsker asks, "Anything else?"
  390. [15:18] Sugarfoot exclaims, "Mhm.... Yes!"
  391. [15:19] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Sure ! Feel free to ask !"
  392. [15:19] Svengalf Sandsker says, "That would be the last questions, before we will cover each runes to make a portal."
  393. [15:19] Murka sits down. And yawns.
  394. (Murka Vugluskr)
  395. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  396.
  397. [15:19] Sugarfoot says, "What if you make Glyph for location but while traveling through the Stream to it. Location ends up destroyed? Island sink or Volcano blow up? Could you escape stream to new location or would you be washed away into oblivion. "
  398. [15:22] Helena, Shrine Maiden gives a small nod as she hears Murka sit down next to her: Accompanied by a gentle smile.
  399. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  400. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  401.
  402. [15:22] {Item} You drop Donuts.
  403. [15:22] {Item} You picked up Animal Fur..
  404. [15:22] {Item} You picked up Donuts. Dropped by Sugarfoot..
  405. [15:25] Accident or not, the kitsu allows for a bright yawn to escape.
  406. It would be so easy to just lie down right here.. but no! She pinches herself, shakes her head til dizziness.
  407.
  408. Being tied down was never really appealing. She gives a content smile, not a glyph hidden in her simple smile. She bows, clasping her hands.
  409. (Roxy Dormine)
  410. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  411.
  412. [15:25] The lapine ponders a bit.
  413.
  414. "That's a good question. When we will cast the portal, there is one rune that takes account of different changes in the destination. Let's say, you attuned to the island when it was summer, but you want to travel there as it is winter. That rune will automatically adjust your description to fit the present.
  415.
  416. Now… if a place has drastically changed ? Let's say like Vdalion ? I have tried such, and the portal will fail, as it is ''unable'' to localise the place. Unless of course if you describe the updated version of the location."
  417.
  418. He then offers a smile.
  419.
  420. "Altough, I may have an alternative idea if there would be a way to travel in these lost in the past locations, but it's only ideas and theories that go further than what we will cover today !
  421.
  422. I hope this answers your question !"
  423. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  424. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  425.
  426. [15:27] Sugarfoot offers a brilliant grin, shooting an arm up to flash a thumbs up! It made sense to him that they'd have built in runes to protect against the changing of the environment. Since things where always changing in places where time passed.
  427.
  428. "Yeappers! Make's sense to me."
  429. (Sugarfoot)
  430. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  431.
  432. [15:29] The lapine nods, smiling.
  433.
  434. "Good, now. We can properly proceed to our first practice of portals.
  435.
  436. Remember ! We only throw objects for now. We will also have to move out of Solais to step a little bit outside of the town. We do not want some accidents. And, being near a Lifestream convergence point like Solais won't be beginner friendly. I will explain why later, it's in regards of the mana potency of a location.
  437.
  438. But before we leave then, feel free to take one last feeling of Solais' aura.
  439. I repeat myself again, but if you don't understand what the Lifestream is, your portal won't work at all."
  440.
  441. He nods, hopping off from the hill.
  442.
  443. "I also hope you have familiarized yourself with the island we will be going ! Follow me !"
  444.
  445. He smiles, as he trails out of the Frontier.
  446.
  447. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  448. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  449.
  450. [15:30] Helena, Shrine Maiden gives a small bow to Solais as we depart.
  451. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  452. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  453.
  454. [15:32] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Alright ! Take place ! Feel free to spread around !"
  455. [15:33] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "I will be back really quickly, 2 seconds !"
  456. [15:33] Murka has successfully secured the best spot under the palm tree.
  457. (Murka Vugluskr)
  458. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  459.
  460. [15:33] Iraark says, "One..."
  461. [15:33] Iraark says, "Two..."
  462. [15:33] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Alright I'm back!"
  463. [15:33] Iraark exclaims, "Oh!"
  464. [15:34] Katrina Astalet says, "And you doubted them."
  465. [15:34] Svengalf Sandsker says, "I hold my words true."
  466. [15:34] Torven says, "Oh damn. They kept to it."
  467. [15:34] Svengalf Sandsker says, "&chuckles."
  468. [15:34] Svengalf Sandsker chuckles.
  469. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  470. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  471.
  472. [15:35] Bite zoned out and now doesn't know where she is.
  473. (Bite)
  474. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  475.
  476. [15:36] The lapine leads them into a small sandy creak, next to the sea. Away from Solais' influence, and from the city of magitech. A more mana neutral place, that will be helpful for the young apprentices to begin with.
  477.
  478. "Good. Now. To actually prepare a portal, you will need to chain 5 runes in order together. So that means, 5 different instructions to write. Then you will connect them together in order, and if done correctly, your portal will open. This is where you will throw your stone before it closes ! You only have a dozen seconds to use it before the Lifestream forces its closure."
  479.
  480. There is a nod, as he continues.
  481.
  482. "The very first rune is the ''Travel'' rune. This rune contains the instruction to establish the link with the Lifestream. This is why it is important to understand what it is, and how it is. Magi of Faith are already familiar with such. But for starters, I want you to feel and imagine the Lifestream that composes our world. The Spirit World that was only one single realm, before it branched into multiple ones. Yggdrassil, and such. Imagine yourself attempting to reach this with your hand despite being anchored in this material world.
  483. Once you have this imaged in your mind, store this inside a rune. And you can continue with the next one.
  484.
  485. The second one is the ''Territory'' rune. A rune split with two instructions : the location of where you start, and where you want to land. This is why familiarity is important. To write these locations in the rune, you need to focus within the surroundings. Memorize the feelings, pictures, images of both places. You have to be very specific to pinpoint accurately. If you are too vague to describe the island we want to go, it could go to ANY other island that fits your vagueness. Start with where we are, and once one half is written, finish with describing the destination.
  486.
  487. The third rune is the ''Interpolation'' rune. A little bit more abstract than the other second runes, but important to prepare yourself. Your start and destination ''may'' have changed since your memories due to the changes of the Lifestream, like the seasons, the weather, th time of the day, and so on. To write this rune, try to imagine yourselves these locations under different natural conditions to cover these possibilities.
  488.
  489. The fourth rune is the ''Conversion''. This is responsible for the matter than enters the portal to be protected from the purification process of the Lifestream. Simple to do : you picture those who will enter this portal, to ''snapshot'' who they are at the moment to enter, and then put a ward upon their being to ensure they stay intact in the Lifestream before arriving.
  490.
  491. And finally the fifth rune, the ''Portal''. This is the ending instruction that will open the portalto the Lifestream and reach the destination.
  492.
  493. Once you have all five runes created, you connect them in order, then you pour your mana into your assembly to trigger it and start your portal.
  494. NOW ! Very important ! You must inject enough mana to match the TWO LOCATIONS you have set ! This is why we have moved out of Solais. Because the environment around Solais is very rich of mana, which makes it harder to match to the destination. So wayfinding between two places with a similar potency can be simpler.
  495. Otherwise, you can still attempt to match it manually yourself, thus why again familiarity is important. If you put too much mana, you may be forcefully ejected and you go too fast to the point you can't entirely reshape yourself. Not enough mana and instead you become jammed into the Lifestream, risking to be stuck.
  496.
  497. And one last piece of advice : Remember about precision ? Don't try to put a bird view of the place you want to arrive, unless you wantto feel what it is to be a bird splatting on the ground. The exact image that you think when preparing the Territory rune for the destination, is what you will be supposed to see when arriving.
  498.
  499. Does anyone have any questions ? Nera here present can help with those who are struggling with the exercise. Don't start your portals yet although, I want everyone to try it at the same time."
  500.
  501. He nods, retaking a breather after such long instruction.
  502.
  503. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  504. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  505.
  506. [15:36] Svengalf Sandsker looks around. Nera was not present.
  507. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  508. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  509.
  510. [15:37] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Oh she didn't follow, duh.."
  511. [15:37] Svengalf Sandsker says, "My bad. "
  512. [15:40] Murka yawns even wider than before. That's a whole lot of words. Was she supposed to remember everything? Does it really have to be so tedious and difficult?
  513. (Murka Vugluskr)
  514. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  515.
  516. [15:41] Murka Vugluskr asks, "...no can do without runes?"
  517. [15:41] Svengalf Sandsker says, "You will have to use runes, yes."
  518. [15:41] Katrina's hand was starting to get tired from taking so many notes. Was her pen running out of ink as well? She might need to start abbreviating even more.
  519. (Katrina Astalet)
  520. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  521.
  522. [15:41] Murka Vugluskr asks, "All five?"
  523. [15:42] Svengalf Sandsker says, "Yes."
  524. [15:42] Murka sighs.
  525. (Murka Vugluskr)
  526. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  527.
  528. [15:42] Svengalf Sandsker asks, "Also. Does anyone want an example of practice ?"
  529. [15:42] How exciting! To actually practice wayfinding and the process of creating runes. Most of the time, the goblin had thought runes to be some sort of object though. He made sure to correct such a thinking in his notes as he wrote down each of the steps as well as the rest of the information given.
  530.
  531. "So will have to match mana in each rune, or has to accumulate? And yes, would love example!"
  532. (Iraark)
  533. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  534.
  535. [15:44] The Shrine Maiden set about preparing herself for the eventual attempt at the offered endeavor of possibly opening a portal. Every step taken as indicated, though, she somewhat kept out of sight while doing so. Though, seemingly not for any other reason than to avoid the spotlight at the moment. An oddity for her, as she oft liked to stay vigilant, yet she participated quietly all the same.
  536. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  537. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  538.
  539. [15:46] Svengalf led the gathering aside from the city into a relatively green clearing, a rather lively spot considering the rest of the vacuous expanse.
  540.
  541. After Svengalf delivered his next set of instructions, Sytry began to ponder the five runes posited in the exposition.
  542.
  543. Travel. Territory. Interpolation. Conversion. Portal.
  544.
  545. Sytry copied the runes into his notes first, before drawing them accordingly for the practice.
  546.
  547. Then, he awaited further directions, prepared to charge and connect the runes accordingly with everyone else' and Svengalf's cue.
  548. (Sytry)
  549. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  550.
  551. [15:47] Towards Iraark, he clarifies then :
  552.
  553. "When you will empower the portal, the mana will spread evenly to the runes you have set, reading the inscriptions in the order you have set.
  554.
  555. What you have to match is the mana in between where we start, and where we land.
  556.
  557. If for example, the place we want to travel is rich in mana as the elements are more potent there in comparaison to your starting position ? Then you want to pour enough mana to equalize.
  558.
  559. If instead, the location you want to travel is weaker in mana, then you only pour a little of mana to match.
  560.
  561.
  562. Does this help ?"
  563. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  564. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  565.
  566. [15:48] Iraark exclaims, "Mm, it does!"
  567. [15:48] Svengalf Sandsker exclaims, "Good to hear !"
  568. [15:50] The lapine nods then with a chuckle.
  569.
  570. "And now, here is an example !"
  571.
  572. Focusing as his hands weave bright colorfull green-emerald energies. The five runes made with his own mana appear in front of him, empty for now and floating.
  573.
  574. The Travel rune, as he recalls upon Yggdrassil, the legendary tree of Convergence where the realms and the Lifestream branches. The living energies that resonates from the Lifestream and fill the world they live with Life. It starts to shine bright, and floats above.
  575.
  576. The Territory rune. He pictures one side, the eastern border of a flourishing desert that acoasts the sea, as they both stand on this little creek. The boats set, the low tide path to the ruins Dawnstone. The breeze and the brine that fills his lungs.
  577. And the other half, this island with a deciduous forest, with a temperate climate. Inside this forest, he recalls the pathway towards the locked sewers. But where he exactly reminds himself, it's the winged statue on top of the stairs. The second rune shines, and takes one of the corners. East of this entrance, there was the newly built Raven's Hold, recently defended from the Fel's invasion, who has brought a lot more of activity in the island.
  578.
  579. The Interpolation rune. The island covered in different seasons. Lacking snow on winter. The heavy rains during hot seasons. The coast erroding the cliffs from the sea. The day and night cycle. Where nature rules its cycle over the place. The third rune glows, and takes a lower corner.
  580.
  581. The Conversion rune. While usually this rune was simple for one person, this was now a crowd Following him. Luckily, he was already familiar with most of them. Wishing for his party to remain themselves as he has known them through these years. And as a Priest of Life, a small prayer for this rune to ward their pilgrimage in the Lifestream. The fourth runes takes the other side.
  582.
  583. And finally, the Portal rune. Where the runes assemble together in a pentagonal shape, as the last ones takes its last shape. Once all runes will be processed in order, this last rune will then open the path through the Lifestream through all the variables set before.
  584.
  585. The students could observe these runes and tap into it to understand their content.
  586.
  587. "When you are more comfortable and more used to casting, you will be able to do shorter incantations for such rune preparations. Resuming quickly these instructions in a single function.
  588. And even later, you could attempt to camouflage your runes with some cosmetical changes."
  589.
  590. Weaving his hands, the runes shapeshift. And instead it becomes a tree of their height, with two golden fruits laying on each sides with carved landscapes upon the skin. An outstretched canopy that protects them from the weather, and a glowing bark of leylines. The trunk is split open, with a swirling well of green Energy.
  591.
  592. "But for now, let's keep it simple with your runes only ! No cosmetics !"
  593. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  594. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  595.
  596. [15:53] Murka blinks slowly. She doesn't know anything about runes. What is she even doing here?
  597. (Murka Vugluskr)
  598. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  599.
  600. [15:54] The youthful Wayfinding aspirant did indeed take a final feeling of Solais. It already caused his energetic personality to feel more energized, batteryception he guessed.
  601.
  602. Still it wasn't a long walk to get out of Solais' overwhelming presence. Not that it easy to forget what it felt like. Which, he supposed was most of the point. After all! You had to understand a locale's essence to truly attune to it.
  603.
  604. Now though it came right down to it. The lesson was in full swing and he'd be focused and attentive. Except when Sandsker wandered off and his mind drifted to one of the nearby flowers growing at the end of a cactus. Pretty.
  605.
  606. Then he was back and the flower was lost to the annals of history. Readying his notebook the youthful goblin began to jot down what was said.
  607.
  608. Runes of Wayfinding,
  609. Rune One: Travel, a rune which connects one's glyph to the Lifestream itself. Failure to properly inscribe this rune will cause the whole script to fail.
  610.
  611. With that one jotted down Sugarfoot did indeed try and do as Sandsker had ordered. Closing his eyes and placing a pencil upont he paper the young runescribe reached out with his mind. In the blank canvas that was his thoughts he saw Oswald, little Possum buddy, who waddled through a slowly creeping field of flowers. The field seemed to go on and on yet as it went the feeling of being far away was heavily weighing upon Sugarfoot's shoulders. Where was Oswald even going?
  612.
  613. The sight of upside down cacti was the first indication that Oswald was showing him a way to imagine the world beyond what it was. What a good dumpster diver he was! Opening his eyes once more to see a very odd glyph scribbled down upon his notebook. It seemed distant and yet near, that must be the travel rune or well he'd just failed and scribbled on the paper.
  614.
  615. Rune Two: Territory.
  616. Territory is a runic script which details where you are and where you will be. A dualpurpose writing of instructions which takes into account what is known. This helps one to fully plot out their trip from one location to another.
  617.
  618. That one was simple enough and he'd been practicing since he went to Sewer Island. Shifting onwards the Goblin jotted down what was next.
  619.
  620. Rune Three: Interpolation.
  621. An asbraction which leaves specific holes in one's script which are naturally filled in by the Lifestream as it fills in the blanks. Like water running down a path and pooling in places.
  622.
  623. Rune Four: Conversion.
  624. A 'snapshot' of who is what and what is who. Designed to protect the spirits of those entering the lifestream so they are not washed away.
  625.
  626. Maybe, they are washed away and what's created on the other side is a new person with your memories? Well no matter, moving one!
  627.
  628. Rune Five: Portal
  629. Caps off the runic script and actually creates the portal that connects the two places. Important to utilize so you know if previous script is working.
  630.
  631. Note, you have to inject enough mana to match the two locations you are trying to get too. Which means that places which are very rich in mana are harder to teleport into and out of.
  632.
  633. Precision is key, go into as much detail as one can. Down to the way the grass feels on your feetsies.
  634.
  635. Nodding along Sugarfoot puts down his pen and looks up at the class. Watching as Sandsker showcased the way in which the runes work together in harmony in order to connect the locations. His were rather fanciful but at the end of the day it was best to keep it simple, as he said.
  636.
  637. With a sigh Sugarfoot decided to be more of an observer for now. He'd have plenty of time to practice at a later date.
  638.
  639.
  640. (Sugarfoot)
  641. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  642.
  643. [15:54] * You have been awarded 4 Levels! *
  644. [16:03] This was what Rök had been waiting for, his eyes having gone glassy a few times throughout the class as the questions of his fellow students and the answers they recieved turned into mind numbing static. Eventually however, he tunes back in, blinking as the practical explanation is made.
  645.
  646. Thank Ualdir... Finally, action.
  647.
  648. Raising his hand, Rök would begin to focus upon his connection to the lifestream brought on through his faith as he begins to trace out not one singular rune but several for a Circle of Travel. Invoking a connection to Ualdir and to Chireus and to Joruheim, the Realm of the Brave where the spirits of Warriors dwelled in death, lest they were great enough to enter Vanaheim.
  649.
  650. Then, with the circle of Travel formed he would begin to focus his thoughts on the dual runes of Territory. The first focusing on where he was, the desert of the Silent Expanse. His birth home, the crimson sands of Altan's Sea not far to the west. A place he knew well. Next he'd think of the Citadel atop the snowy mountain to the east. The place he now called home, where the temple of Ualdir stood. Where he had sworn several Oaths, and where he would likely reside until he died a glorious death in battle.
  651.
  652. Moving on to the third rune, that of Interpolation he would etch it out as he invokes an understanding of change- The seasons, the tides of both the sea and of battle, the ravages of time itself. Willing the rune to compensate for all such things and see him along safely.
  653.
  654. Next came the ruen of Conversion. Again he would write not a single runes, but multiple. The core rune, and some supporting it. Runes idealizing him as what he saw himself to be. A War Priest of Ualdir. A Warrior. A Giant. A man beaten, ravaged by war, and reforged in the flames of adversity.
  655.
  656. And finally came the last rune. The rune to activate everything, the Portal rune. This one imbued not only with the invocation to open a portal, but also Rök's will as a would-be conqueror, one who would go where he pleased, unbound.
  657.
  658. As that last rune is etched the lot of them would ignite with his mana, a raging inferno of runes and then-
  659.
  660. Well what happened next? Would remain to be seen.
  661. (Rök Allrstein)
  662. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  663.
  664. [16:06] Once Svengalf had demonstrated the method which he cast the runes, Sytry nodded at the arborous emanation that bore two gilded fruit, the convergence warm and inviting- radiant as high noon or lighthouse beacons unto stray sailors.
  665.
  666. Travel - Sytry invoked what he recalled about Chireus, the winged envoy of the pantheon whom drew those winding, mercurial paths in his patronage.
  667.
  668. Territory - The arid, desolate desert winds were nothing alike the salty breeze that coursed over the island, but the remote, silent solace present in both was also an apparent similarity - particularly within the shaded and sanctified graveyard present on the island, adorned with large families of ravens.
  669.
  670. Interpolation - and how the seasons catalyzed both environments, or day and night even, and particularly so... much food for thought..!!
  671.
  672. Conversion - Sytry imagined a rope, a noose; that implement and verdict of justice that carried unspoken and unheard weights, in guilt and putrefaction.
  673.
  674. And finally, portal; the sum.
  675.
  676. Sytry channeled his mana accordingly, weak at first to match the malleable waves of sand that gave form to the desert, sculpted by the wind; and then with more force to balance it out, to meet the graveyard's concentrated presence with the spirit realm.
  677.
  678. The runes began to coalesce, taking vague forms.. before finding focus and settling into the shape of a vacant coffin.
  679. (Sytry)
  680. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  681.
  682. [16:11] Short and simple?
  683.
  684. Katrina might have normally had something of a flare for the dramatic, but given how late it already was she was happy to keep things basic. Runecasting had never been her personal method of choice, but decades of living with an artificer had exposed her to good amount of it. Enough to hopefully handle this demonstration.
  685.
  686. Travel: Her faith, her connection to her Constant, the paths of energy that she already found herself following. It was easy to sense the flow of current that connected everyone and everything, linking together even the realms in those shifting eddies of fate. Her first rune was golden in nature, similar to those resting on her wrist.
  687.
  688. Territory: The flow of water. The smell of the ocean. The way the light reflected off the sea, as she traveled to that island. The stature, the dungeon, that angry bunny resting at the very core of it. She could see it on her mind, locked away from the rest of the world. The ways the trees looked up close as she stood on the shore of it.
  689.
  690. Interpolation: Rain. Light. Darkness. The physical features of the place. Fog. Shadows. Time. The most powerful of all forces. Trees falling over, before growing again. Plants sprouting, before being picked. Fireflies slowly floating around, like glowing bits of dust. Everything was always in flux.
  691.
  692. Conversion: The image she held of herself. Her connections to those in her life. That golden and white outfit, the colors of her land. Her hair, her fluffy tails, her sense of what was important in the world. All of it flowed out into the rune, a stylized design with a foxtail right in the middle of it.
  693.
  694. Portal: This one was the most simple, binding everything else together under it as she commanded her writing to become action. Ideas manifesting into reality as the circle slowly started to glow. Her runes seemed to almost twitch with life, once clear lines blending together to make something new.
  695.
  696. Who could say what happened next?
  697. (Katrina Astalet)
  698. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  699.
  700. [16:11] The goblin watches for a moment and once seeing other students do it as well he decided to practice along.
  701.
  702. "First is travel.." he begins to write during the process envisioning himself reaching for the life stream itself. Embedding his mana into the letters and moving forward.
  703.
  704. "Then is territory.." he says next, soon writing it carefully as he felt this an important step. To split a rune into two instructions. He focused, thinking of the area they were in now. The heat, the feeling of the wind, texture of the ground. Along side this, he's also thinking of the island, the sound of the winds brushing up against the trees. The distinct smells of the sewers nearby.
  705.
  706. "Inter..polation.." he said slowly, as he wrote it just as slow. The idea of it seemed strange, but he was a student not a teacher. He listened and did as was told. Thinking of himself in the same location he'd been in when first visiting though under different circumstances. WHat if it had snowed, rained, maybe a tsunami!? The goblin went on to putting these very visions into the third rune before finally moving for the last two.
  707.
  708. "Now is conversion.." he started, one that made him feel easier and far more inclined to get this right. A way of protecting ones self from purification! He didn't need to remember the whole class or anything like that he figured, rather himself and the teacher was all the thought power he'd have for the fourth rune as he finished writing it out.
  709.
  710. "Finally, Portal!" he said excitedly. The time it took for the goblin to write these out and what not was taking quite a while so to have reached the final step he was getting giddy! A somewhat simple and final step that'd open the gateway towards the next location!
  711.
  712. With his runes ready he would try to have them in place according with his notes, now looking to the teacher and the rest, only waiting for the next instructions. They were going to actually open these portals today!
  713. (Iraark)
  714. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  715.
  716. [16:17] Murka knows it's not going to work.
  717.
  718. Her reasonably clawwy fingertips glow with mana as she haphazardly tries to draw something vaguely similar to Svendalf's runes.
  719.
  720. It's a terrible mess. She hates herself. She hates everyone.
  721.
  722. But then she realizes! She hates lifestream too! Place one, place two! All she has to do is connect two dots and nothing is going to get in her way! The whole world can crumble for all she cares!
  723.
  724. She grits her teeth and slashes at the air as if trying to tear the very fabric of reality itself.
  725.
  726. Now what?
  727. (Murka Vugluskr)
  728. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  729.
  730. [16:21] Writing everything down in her handy dandy trusty note book. She looked up and kept an eye on everything. She continued to think over and over about the steps picturing every rune. She had to break it down for herself as she would not be able to picture it if she didnt.
  731.
  732. One: The travel Rune- Feeling with the life stream. your Anchor.
  733.
  734. Two: The Territory rune- Location of where you want to start and where you want to land.
  735.
  736. Three: The Interpolation Rune: Imagining yourself in the locations in different Conditions to cover your bases.
  737.
  738. Four: The Conversion Rune: the 'snapshot' rune Picturing who and what you are bringing with you through the portal.
  739.
  740. Five: The portal: The final instruction. The reach of the destination.
  741.
  742. *Precision*
  743.
  744. Now she was done taking note of that it was time to try the runes herself... Breathing in she focused on the mana she will need for this. Focusing on the life stream.
  745.
  746. One: Travel- She thought about Chireus and the connections with the life stream.
  747.
  748. Two: Territory- Her staring place to end goal. Her starting place being the sandy dunes with the flow of water around them. Her end goal the citadel, the snow, the cold, a place she often finds herself more so than her own home.
  749.
  750. Three: Interpolation- She knew the weather there. She can focus on the fact of the snow, the cold, the ice, Though just to make sure she covered her bases she pictured the rain as well.
  751.
  752. four: Conversion- the snap shit of who was coming through that portal. What was going through it. She pictured everything from the red crown she wears to her black wings, her noble attire and gear, even the plush she does not dare to let go of most times but will keep it tucked right on her cloak.
  753.
  754. Five: The portal- This was the portal that would be her final end spot. The one that was binding it all.
  755.
  756. Precision and binding.
  757.
  758. As all the runes were now all drawn out they all began to connect with each other and she awaited the next instruction
  759. (Rosemary Okabe)
  760. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  761.
  762. [16:23] She has faded, hither and thither, listening as intently as one can hope for a small, wayward child to listen to a thing of curiosity and unfamiliarity.
  763.
  764. All these concepts, these ideas; the delicate creation of rune, the concept of convergence, the fine and particular control one must have over magic in a form made manifest beyond her own rudimentary understanding: they all point to one thing.
  765.
  766. This is beyond her, at least for now. Too young, too stupid, or just not entirely inspired for this. She chases a feeling of finding something that fulfills her, and this was a shot in the dark.
  767.
  768. Yet, her heart sings naught in the way that others, more eager to learn, outwardly do. She progressively falls to a seat for a moment and redoubles the effort; she searches for a feeling that isn't there.
  769.
  770.
  771. But she fails. With only a little dejection, mostly simple acceptance of her own shortcomings- Bite then departs with a tiny wave meant for nobody in particular but the curious eye that might have for some reason taken note of her departure.
  772.
  773. Hop away, little rabbit.
  774. (Bite)
  775. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  776.
  777. [16:37] The lapine goes over each of the students, watching their runes.
  778.
  779. He starts first with Sugarfoot, judging each of the runes, he looks at first glance intrigued with the runes.
  780. "Mh ! That's an interesting travel rune... Is it how do you imagine the Lifestream ? I suppose, the meaning is there considering how much you seem to like diving, as of what I have noticed on the first lesson.
  781.
  782. For the Territory. It's good, you mention the starting position and the destination. Now don't forget to put your feelings into these locations but the base is done !
  783.
  784. For the Interpolation, an original idea... filling the blanks, heh... This should do.
  785.
  786. For the rest, it's a good start ! You can try throwing a stone through it ! "
  787.
  788. ----
  789.
  790. Towards Rok now, he observes. He looks satisfied in the work, as he adds.
  791. "Despite not being present on the first lesson, seems like you have grasped already the practice.
  792. Travel runeis good.
  793.
  794. Territory rune, well I should have clarified, but we will be going to the island where Raven's Hold is, but I can sense the Citadel will be a good place to reapear. Be precise on where you want to reappear in the Citadel ! And as the starting position, same, be precise on where you are ! Sure we are in the Silent Expense, but we both know the desert is vast. Refer to my rune in question if you would like an idea !
  795.
  796. Interpolation, good !
  797.
  798. Conversion... you can compact them in one rune together, no worries !
  799.
  800. Otherwise the portal is good, just correct the territory rune and you are good to throw a rock !"
  801.
  802. ----
  803.
  804. Next student to be evaluated was Sytry. Another pleased smile.
  805. "Travel rune, attuning to the Lifestream with Chireus' tenets... it works. If that's not enough, don't forget also what we talked about the Lifestream itself !
  806.
  807. Territory rune, it's good ! Could have a little bit more of details, but the basics are there.
  808.
  809. Interpolation, that's alright."
  810. Svengalf was feeling a little bit uneasy.
  811. "... That's... quite macabre you have there for the Conversion. I know that metaphorically, we will be travelling in the Lifestream like the deceased's souls, but we would like mainly to be intact and alive at the end.
  812. I think I know the emblematic depiction of this but..."
  813. He looks at his wings... nodding slightly.
  814. "Let's try at least for this rock to be reappear well at the other side.
  815.
  816. The portal is alright ! Just do these little adjustements, and you're good to test !"
  817.
  818. ----
  819.
  820. And next was Katrina. He looks more relieved to feel a brighter composition of runes.
  821. "So far, everything is alright, except for your territory rune : don't forget to mention also where we start. The destination is quite well described already, so this is good !
  822. Just do this one last change, and you can toss a stone !"
  823.
  824. ----
  825.
  826. To Iaark now. A smile is given, nodding.
  827. "That's also a good composition of runes ! The Territory rune could be more accurate, but the rest is well. Just do some clarifications on the Territory and you're good to throw your stone !"
  828.
  829. ----
  830.
  831. Towards Murka, he looks concerned.
  832. "Mh... do you need some assistance perhaps ? Is there something wrong ?"
  833.
  834. ----
  835.
  836. He looks then to the last student, Rosemary. A nod is given.
  837. "That's a good start of runes. Destination could be a little bit more detailed, but this is a decent first try to toss a rock into."
  838.
  839. ----
  840.
  841. And this would conclude the judgement of each work !
  842.
  843. "Now ! Everyone proceed to your adjustements, then you can toss a stone. If you have more questions, feel free to ask ! Then we will travel !"
  844. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  845. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  846.
  847. [16:43] Frowning as Sven made his clarification, Rök realized he had completely spaced a fair portion of the class thus far- He didn't even realize he was supposed to be going to Raven's Hold! Whoops.
  848.
  849. But really, could anyone blame him? Sitting in one place, THINKING, it was enough to leave a man like him exhausted all on it's own.
  850.
  851. With a small grunt he'd raise his hand up and banish the Territory runes he'd written before carefully rewriting them, focusing on precision this time. The cliffshore south of old Dawnstone, the crater where some meteor had likely impacted in ages past, the palm trees swaying nearby.
  852.
  853. Then, he would begin to work on a rune for Ravenshold, a place he wasn't particularly familiar with but had passed by man times. He thought of the Sewer dungeon he'd conquered over a dozen times. He thought of the many ravens he'd seen on the walls. He thought of the unique architecture that made the place standout amongst others.
  854.
  855. Then, once more he'd prepare the portal rune, looking to Svengalf for confirmation.
  856. (Rök Allrstein)
  857. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  858.
  859. [16:43] Oh right. The territory rune came in two parts. Well-it was an easy enough fix! In theory! Her runs were melting together slightly, but the kitsune bent down and added on a couple last minute additions to the glowing web currently lighting up the sand under her feet.
  860.
  861. The very sand she was about to work into it, drawing on the feeling of the bench below. Those bites of grass holding onto the traces of life, and the rest of the more barren landscape working to paint a detailed picture of exactly where she was standing right now.
  862.
  863. With everything set-it was time for the rock test! Her portal was already starting to open, looking to be only slightly unstable. Flicking now and then, but if she looked into it there was an image of another beach far away from her own.
  864.
  865. Pop!
  866.
  867. The rock vanished as she tossed it into that freshly formed connection, heading off to hopefully land on the other side intact. They would see!
  868. (Katrina Astalet)
  869. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  870.
  871. [16:43] Murka blinks. Has she seen something? A tear? A crack? A sudden influx of wishful thinking? She shakes her head.
  872.
  873. "...I don't know the runes..."
  874.
  875. She is staring at Svengalf. Only her immense willpower is stopping her from breaking into tears and running away.
  876. (Murka Vugluskr)
  877. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  878.
  879. [16:46] The crowd all approached their idiosyncratic methods of drawing the runes for wayfinding, with drastically mixed results, much to Sytry's amusement. He observed Svengalf as he appraised everyones' work.
  880.
  881. Once it was Sytry's turn, he listened attentively, nodding upon receiving the salient feedback. There was room for improvement in focusing upon the lifestream, as well as a stronger concentration upon the details of the territories.
  882.
  883. Sytry nodded understandingly once Svengalf commented upon designated ward for conversion.
  884.
  885. "I imagined it around ones' ankle, but you're right; especially when precision cannot be unafforded." He commented, recasting the rune to something more... elevating; a bough, the largest branch of a tree extending from the base.
  886.
  887. "Fit for a baby in a cradle." He mused, reintegrating the correction into the runic formulae.
  888.
  889. "Thank you, Svengalf."
  890. (Sytry)
  891. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  892.
  893. [16:47] Iraark stood there and listened as the teacher went around judging peoples runes and instructing them on what could be better and such. To the goblins surprise, he'd actually done well! Still it wasn't perfect and hearing the accuracy could be improved was a big deal. It meant the goblin couldn't see things in such a general way. He had to actually focus and pin point the exact location in which he'd been thinking.
  894.
  895. He tried again, focusing upon the travel rune whilst thinking of his time on the island. The smell of the sewer stinging his nostrils once more, Iraark began to recall the path leading to it. The torches lit upon the side of the entrance and the greenery scaling along it.
  896.
  897. With his territory thought refocused he looked to the teacher yet again. His stone was ready to throw apparently but would that be what activates it? The goblin was eager for the next steps.
  898. (Iraark)
  899. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  900.
  901. [16:50] Her destination could be more detailed...She sort of also forgot they were picturing there till Sven said something. She thought they were just doing test...
  902.
  903. So the destination. Ravens hold. She pictured all the diffrent conditions once more but this time focused on the raven statues, the church, the cemetery, the homes and the tents there. Even the running water around the island... The sewer that made the place stink a bit.
  904.
  905. With that she threw a rock in the rune ready to see how it goes. Turning to Sven with even further Instruction.
  906. (Rosemary Okabe)
  907. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  908.
  909. [16:53] Galena Altha is late....Again. Goddamn timezones.
  910. (Galena Altha)
  911. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  912.
  913. [16:57] The lapine gets over every rune again. He was satisfied with the corrections.
  914.
  915. Towards Sytry, he offers a nod. "I see. My misunderstanding in such.
  916. I know some people jokingly compare that travelling through the Lifestream and reappearing there is similar to die and be reborn immediately. But for safety and to not have any misunderstanding, I prefer the focus upon the protection, rather than the interpretation."
  917. A smile given is given, and then he turns to the rest
  918.
  919. "That's good then ! We will transport soon to the island to check if your stone has traveled right !"
  920.
  921. And towards Murka, the lapine smiles.
  922.
  923. "It's okay, Don't be hard with yourself. Rune casting can be hard, specially at Young age as your circuits are still growing and developping.
  924.
  925. Have you heard my explainations about the runes, and seen my example ?"
  926. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  927. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  928.
  929. [16:58] Iraark exclaims, "Hope ive did it right enough...Am excited!"
  930. [17:01] Murka takes a deep breath.
  931.
  932. "I..."
  933.
  934. She just has to try again. She has seen the runes. She has heard the explanation. She can do it!
  935.
  936. "Um..."
  937.
  938. Nevermind. She actually proceeds to break into tears and run away.
  939. (Murka Vugluskr)
  940. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  941.
  942. [17:01] Galena Altha quietly cringes. It's like looking at a younger, more scaredy cat version of herself.
  943. (Galena Altha)
  944. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  945.
  946. [17:04] The lapine follows the Felinae with compassion, running away before he could reach her. A sigh is given.
  947.
  948. "Hopefully she did not take this too personnally… But this is true. Young magi actually struggle to practice wayfinding, as it consumes a lot of mana to actually prepare a portal. Doing so as such a young age would drain all of their mana, and it won't be enough to open a portal anyway."
  949.
  950. He then waves towards Galena.
  951.
  952. "Oh hey Galera, we just finished tossing stones in a portal ! I have received your letter, sadly I was in the middle of Something and I forgot to reply to you. I hope you have been alright ?"
  953.
  954. A smile is given, then he nods.
  955.
  956. "Let's check the island if your stone has properly arrived?"
  957. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  958. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  959.
  960. [17:06] Svengalf Sandsker nods then, as he concludes then his portal by finally fueling it with mana, opening then a well of swirling energies ot the island.
  961. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  962. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  963.
  964. [17:06] Galena Altha says, "I've been ahh...W-Well enough."
  965. [17:07] Galena Altha says, "S-Sadly it seems i've missed most of the lesson."
  966. [17:07] Katrina Astalet says, "Essentially all of it."
  967. [17:16] The group then arrives at the island, exactly where he imagined next to the statue that stands at the entrance of the sewers. The travel was sudden, a blinding flash, as their vision then recovers to display a new landscape. The transition from the desert to the oceanic climate was oddly smooth, but notable.
  968.
  969. "Now ! I will let you look upon the place to find your stone. I know some of you have been vague in the location where to exactly land. Which will make it harder ! Good luck in your search !"
  970.
  971. A grin is expressed, as he awaits for them to return with the stones.
  972.
  973. For their first times, undoubtly that there would be some misscalculation on where the stone would land. But overall ? The stone was rather in decent condition, thanks to proper composition of the runes after the corrections made. No one has improvised Something exotic, so no sudden combustion or anything alike.
  974. Perhaps, some stones could be a little brittler if the student was notconfident with their work, or did not fuel the portal right.
  975. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  976. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  977.
  978. [17:20] Great. Stone hunting time. It didn't help that there was just a couple of random rocks on the island fully unrelated to everything going on with their lesson that had gone deep into the late hours of the night.
  979.
  980. Katrina pulled out a torch to make the hunt easier, walking around the parts of the island which she recalled the most strongly. It only made sense that her portal would have linked there after all, given everything that was put into it.
  981.
  982. But it still took a while to actually find the damn thing.
  983. (Katrina Astalet)
  984. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  985.
  986. [17:20] Looking around Rok would frown, not seeing his stone anywhere at first. Eventually he would wander here and there, until finally he would see it- The stone he'd etched a burning rune of light into, glowing faintly. Held in the beak of a Raven.
  987.
  988. He stops, standing to stare at the bird.
  989.
  990. The bird turns to stare back at him.
  991.
  992. There is an electric tension in the air as the young Giant's eye narrows.
  993.
  994. "Bird. That rock is mine." He'd announce with all the authority he could.
  995.
  996. The Raven would respond by crooking it's head to the side, then turning it's back on him and leaping into the air with a few flaps of it's wings. Rok would be left to blink, staring after the raven as it flies.
  997.
  998. Eventually, he would return to the group, head hanging and shoulder slumped.
  999.
1000. "...A bird stole my stone."
  1001. (Rök Allrstein)
  1002. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1003.
1004. [17:22] Travelling by portal was... rather quicker than Sytry anticipated, it occurring and their arrival nigh instantaneous; as one might step through a doorway.
  1005.
1006. Sytry wandered the graveyard slowly, whistling. Had his rock made the journey to join the neatly organized gravestones? He strolled around three times, before giving up- making his way to return to the group when he spotted a rock, cradled in the twisting branches of a barren tree. Ah... Sytry had concentrated much upon trees and the ravens of the island. That made sense.
  1007.
1008. Sytry made it back to the group.
  1009.
1010. "My rock was in a tree." He reported laconically, sporting a content grin.
  1011. (Sytry)
  1012. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1013.
1014. [17:24] They traversed and to the very location asked to study in their homework! This was great, or so he figured. He had a good description of the lands in mind, the pathway and such especially and felt he could locate his stone should he try hard enough.
  1015.
1016. Luckily for Iraark, his stone was almost easily found! Perhaps it was thanks to Sven and their instruction during the process but the rock seemed to be just where Iraark had envisioned, though perhaps not the exact position.
  1017.
1018. Is rock sat there perched up upon the stairs and once he had it he'd lift it in the air with glee "Have found my rock!" he exclaims, overjoyed with his first succession with runes.
  1019. (Iraark)
  1020. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1021.
1022. [17:25] Rose already did not have the best eye sight...now it being dark on top of that.."Great..."
  1023.
1024. She followed Katrina's move with pulling out a torch and searching. There was so many stones... The sewer area alone was made with stone... So a slight sight wiped her.
  1025.
1026. It only came to her attention too not give up when she saw Rok and the raven. It made her laugh but she saw something else. "MY ROCK!"
  1027.
1028. She used the other stones of the wall to help her but she climbed up one of the statues and went to grab it. As she landed down from the statue she noticed something else...
  1029.
1030. Her rock was a bit brittle...almost looking cracked and ready to break. She held in in her hand and walked back over.
  1031.
  1032. "Well mines yeah."
  1033. (Rosemary Okabe)
  1034. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1035.
1036. [17:31] Helena, Shrine Maiden continued to quietly observe. The motions of others mimic'd in the background by the Shrine Maiden.
  1037. (Helena, Shrine Maiden)
  1038. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1039.
  1040. [17:35] The lapine awaits.
  1041.
1042. First was Rok to return. He looks flabbergasted, before chuckling.
  1043.
1044. "Well. We can't control the whims of nature sometimes. At least, the rock was there ! Good job !"
  1045.
1046. Towards Sytry now, he tilts his head, as he then nods, understanding the issue.
1047. "Oh. In that case, you may need to adapt your interpolation to also account on potential obstacles on the way. Specially if you are travelling into a location with a lot of dense Moving objects, like a road, a field, the middle of a forest, and so on.
  1048.
1049. It's not only the seasons and the weather you can account, but also human activity can be covered by the Interpolation rune. We are after all part of the Lifestream, and so from nature !"
  1050.
1051. A smile is given. Now it was Iraark who returned with the rock they thrown !
1052. "Good job ! That's a start ! Altough, was it at the place you have visionned when writing your Territory Rune ? Did you notice Something unusual otherwise?"
  1053.
1054. And now towards Rosemary. He looks at the cracked rock, concerned.
  1055.
1056. "Mmh. This looks like you have placed too much mana in the portal. The current was so fast, that the rock exited faster than the conversion rune reshaping it at the exit."
  1057.
1058. as for Katrina searching for the stone, the way she ''looked real close to the trees, next to the shore'', would make the stone appear somewhere in between the shore and the edge of the forest. On which side ? Who knows… !
  1059.
1060. "Mmh… Is Katrina alright ? I hope she is not getting lost in the island."
  1061. (Svengalf Sandsker)
  1062. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1063.
1064. [17:38] Katrina Astalet says, "...I'm pretty sure this stone is mine."
1065. [17:38] Katrina holds up a rock, located in that general area.
  1066.
1067. She really should have put her initials on it or something before chucking it into her portal. Then she would have known for sure!
  1068. (Katrina Astalet)
  1069. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1070.
1071. [17:38] He shook his head in admittance. "At first, was thinking of the tree's and waters...ROck probably would've ended up on borders of island. Am glad told me to focus on it more! Did not choose the stairs there specifically, but had this area and the path in mind! Not all the way accurate, but...really close after your help!" he smiled, knowing it needed work but at least he had the ability to actually do it in the first place!
  1072.
1073. "Will have to work on the territory more in future, but is understanding a lot more now!"
  1074. (Iraark)
  1075. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1076.
1077. [17:41] Ah, and the interpolation - of course. If it weren't for the cemetery, there would be no telling which tree it might've ended up in, or elsewhere. Sytry chuckled at the thought, contemplating the possibilities suggested by Svengalf and how he might further refine his inscription of intent into runes as according to the wayfinding method.
  1078.
1079. "Much, appreciated, Svengalf. I think I have a clearer grasp on it now."
  1080.
1081. And on the lifestream and its passage in general! Sytry had learned much with the class from Svengalf's concise lessons.
  1082. (Sytry)
  1083. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  1084.
1085. [17:42] Rök Allrstein says, "Aye... I think if I'd had a clearer image and found my rock sooner, the bird wouldn't have taken it but-"
1086. [17:42] Rök Allrstein says, "I will work on it."
1087. [17:44] The lapine smiles back to Katrina, nodding. If anything could help identifying her rock, it would be the Sandstone from the Silent Expense clashing with the whiter sand here and the grey rocks on the island.
  1088.
  1089. He smiles towards Iraark.
1090. "Indeed, like Sugarfoot said : start wide, then become more accurate, progressively, until you get a first person image on where you want to land.
  1091.
1092. When I learned wayfinding, I once had a birdview of the island I wanted to travel. Well, my portal was in the sky. And the rock fell from it, landing on the treetops. So… imagine if someone took this portal instead."
  1093.
1094. A soft chuckle, as he nods.
  1095.
1096. "Now, I hope you have a better idea on why we want things to be accurate !
  1097.
1098. Any further question before we conclude the class?"
  1099. (Svengalf Sandsker)
