- Final Fantasy VI
- Platform: Snes / SFC
- Released (d.m.y):
- 02.04.1994 (J)
- 20.10.1994 (NA)
- Based on: NTSC-U/C-version (SNS-F6-USA)
- - DON'T EVER USE SKETCH!
- - You *cannot* reset the game by hitting the usual buttons.
- - You can use L and R to toggle between characters in the menu and go
- up and down pages (though only in the inventory). It was about time.
- - During battle, you can press the menu button to switch between
- characters that are ready to take action.
- - Exp is divided among active party members.
- - The game can be paused during battle (which will stop the play time
- counter from running) but not on the field.
- - The play time counter maxes out at 99:59.
- - Item names are limited to 12 characters and, as a result, many names
- have been crunched to fit into that limitation. I won't be using these
- names so you can search for stuff without memorizing exactly which
- characters were dropped.
- - Due to a programming error, physical evade does nothing. Instead,
- Magic Evade handles evasion for both physical and magical attacks. This
- also renders the Darkness status (largely) benign.
- - The game is technically playable with an NTSC-PAL adapter, but when
- doing so, the game won't always display text in the menus.
- I'm not aware of any other issues, but I haven't played it much this way.
- Hopefully it doesn't do what Super Mario RPG does, which is crash on
- you with 100% certainty at certain points while also wiping out all
- the save files in the process.
- I strongly recommend importing a Super Famicom so you don't have to
- worry about stuff like this.

- Party: Terra Lv3, Wedge Lv1, Vicks Lv1 \\\ Narshe ||
- Default (Terra): Mithril Knife, Buckler, Leather Hat (Artifact),
- Leather Armor (Artifact)
- - You'll start off with 3000 gil and the key item Pendant.
- - Terra (or Tina) starts with two spells: Cure and Fire.
- - You'll fight a few fixed encounters before entering the mines.
- Boss: Whelk \\\ Narshe Mines ||
- - You'll fight the boss immediately after crashing the gate.
- [Boss]
- - Hold your attacks whenever Whelk retreats into its shell.
- Item (nc): Elixir \\\ Narshe ||
- - Check the clock.
- Items: (Phoenix Down, Sleeping Bag) \\\ Narshe Mines ||
- Default (Locke): Dirk, Leather Hat, Leather Armor
- Default (Mog): Mithril Pike, Mithril Shield
- Boss: Marshal (+ 2× Lobos)
- - There are two chests here, but I strongly recommend you don't open
- them. Later in the game, they'll be holding different items.
- - Eventually, you'll be in control of Locke with the objective of
- protecting Terra from the enemies with the help of some moogles. One
- of these moogles is Mog, who will eventually join your party as a
- standard PC. If a party is wiped out here, they'll just respawn (albeit
- with only 1 HP).
- - The scenario ends once you take out the Marshal. Before you fight
- him, unequip Mog's equipment so your other characters can use them (you
- won't be seeing Mog again anytime soon).
- [Boss]
- - 420 HP
- - The leader hits fairly hard: ~50 pod with normal, ~100 pod with
- Totsugeki. Mog's team will have the easiest time here. You can use
- Locke's party first to try and steal a Mythril Knife, but it's not
- that important.
- Items: Tonic, Sleeping Bag \\\ Narshe ||
- Item (nc): Tincture
- - While you can't explore the town, you can at least check out the
- Beginner's House.
- - The trapped chest in the room with the save point doesn't seem to
- give you anything.
- \\\ Figaro Castle ||
- Items: Soft, Tonic, Antidote, Phoenix Down
- Item (nc): Auto Crossbow
- Default (Edgar): Mithril Sword, Buckler, Leather Hat, Leather Armor
- Boss(es): 2× M-TekArmor
- Shop:
- Tonic 50 gil Auto Crossbow 250 gil
- Tincture 1500 gil Noise Blaster 500 gil
- Antidote 50 gil Bio Blaster 750 gil
- Soft 200 gil
- Echo Screen 120 gil
- Phoenix Down 500 gil
- Sleeping Bag 500 gil
- Tent 1200 gil
- - After meeting Edgar, go talk to the woman in the west tower, then
- return and talk to Edgar in the throne room.
- - After the event, go talk to Locke in the east tower.
- [Boss]
- - Expect heavy damage from Madou Laser (~75). Better use the Auto
- Crossbow Edgar starts off with.
- Party: Locke, Edgar, Terra \\\ Cave of Figaro ||
- Items: N/A
- - There are three chests here, but I suggest you don't open them.
- - You should probably keep Edgar in the back row and use his Tools
- (Auto Crossbow mainly).
- Item (nc): Tonic \\\ Sabin's Cottage ||
- - You can rest for free here.
- \\\ South Figaro ||
- Items: 500 gil, 1000 gil, 1500 gil, Hyper Wrist, Running Shoes
- Items (nc): Tonic, Soft, Antidote, Eyedrop, Green Cherry, Phoenix Down,
- Elixir, Tonic, Warp Stone
- Shop:
- Dirk 150 gil Sprint Shoes 1500 gil
- Mithril Knife 300 gil Jewel Ring 1000 gil
- Mithril Blade 450 gil True Knight 1000 gil
- Regal Cutlass 800 gil Star Pendant 500 gil
- Goggles 500 gil
- Kung Fu Suit 250 gil
- Cotton Robe 200 gil
- Heavy Shield 400 gil
- Buckler 200 gil
- Plumed Hat 250 gil
- Hair Band 150 gil
- - Some of the nc-items here would also get an upgrade if you wait until
- much later in the game, but it's nothing too exciting.
- - The two accessories (aka. Relics) are found on B2 of the rich man's
- house (go through the hidden path behind the bookshelf, then search
- the south wall on B1)
- - Hyper Wrist: Strength +50%
- - Running Shoes: Auto-Haste
- \\\ South Figaro Region ||
- Theft: Tonic / Mithril Claw (Rhinotaur)
- - Scoring one of these would be nice, but it's nothing huge.
- \\\ Mt. Kolts ||
- Items: Guardian (Artifact), Atlas Armlet, Tent, Tent
- Theft: Bandana (Brawler)
- Default (Sabin): Metal Knuckle (Unique), Leather Hat, Kung Fu Suit
- Boss: Vargas (& 2× Ipoohs)
- - Atlas Armlet: Increases physical damage by 25% or so.
- - You'll find the save point somewhat near the boss.
- [Boss]
- - After taking out the Ipoohs, you'll soon be in control of Sabin,
- who will have to finish him off alone. The only way to do so is to
- execute the Blitz move Pummel by inputting Left, Right, Left, A. You
- have a limited amount of time to pull it off.
- - Sabin's Blitz moves are delightfully powerful. Try to learn to use
- some of them consistently (even if it's just Aura Bolt). Once you can
- do that, you should probably place him in the back row.
- - Don't try to execute moves that aren't on your list yet. They won't
- work (that's FF8).
- \\\ Returners' Hideout ||
- Items: Potion, Phoenix Down, Air Lancet, Phoenix Down, True Knight
- Items (nc): Green Cherry, Antidote, Tincture, Gauntlet / Genji Glove
- - Feel free to pick up some Potions (300 gil each).
- - After you talk to Banon, you'll be in control of Terra alone.
- - Talk to all your PCs inside the hideout, then talk to the guy at the
- entrance.
- - You'll find Banon outside the hideout. Talk to him and he'll ask you
- something. CHOOSE NO!
- - Once you've said no to him, return to the storage room to get a Genji
- Glove from the guy there. *Now* you can agree to help Banon out.
- - After the event, your party will consist of Edgar, Sabin, Terra, and
- Banon. Banon is just a TPC, but if he dies, it's game over.
- Theft: Mithril Knife / Guardian (Pterodon) \\\ Lete River ||
- Boss: Ultros
- - Ride the raft.
- [Boss]
- - Ultros can hit for as high as 200 pod, so better keep that Health
- fired up.
- - You are now presented with three scenarios that you can complete in
- any order. I'll start off with Locke.
- Party: Locke Lv14 \\\ Narshe ||
- Items: Iron Armor, Ether, X-Potion, Ribbon, Large Shield,
- Regal Cutlass, Earrings
- Items (nc): Cider (Special, Temp), Old Clock-Key
- Theft: Plumed Hat / Guardian (Merchant)
- Default (Celes): Hairband
- - Trigger a battle with one of the guys in Magitek Armor, so you can
- get their Rage later.
- - There's a merchant you can fight in the item shop. Steal his clothes,
- and the kid in the nearby building will let you pass, assuming that
- you're willing to fetch some cider for his grandpa.
- - The cider can be found in the basement of the inn (there's a hidden
- path that lets you cross the river). You'll have to fight another
- merchant to get it.
- - Deliver the cider to the old man. When you talk to the kid afterwards,
- give him the correct password (Courage), and he'll open a hidden passage
- for you that leads to the rich man's house. Once there, proceed to the
- basement that you already checked out earlier.
- - Celes' spells: Cure, Antdot, Ice, Imp
- - After freeing Celes, get the Old Clock-Key from the guard. Use it on
- the clock in the nearby room to open yet another hidden passage.
- - In the next area, you'll find... lots of hidden paths. Yeah... Anyway.
- Keep in mind, unlike in FFV, there's nothing you can do to make the paths
- visible. You'll just have to hug the walls.
- - The Ribbon is completely hidden from view, right nearby the X-Potion.
- - The Earrings boost the power of magical attacks by about 25%.
- Theft: Air Lancet / Bio Blaster (TunnelArmr) \\\ Cave of Figaro ||
- Boss: TunnelArmr
- - You'll fight the boss right at the other exit. If you think you can
- afford it, de-equip your accessories, so that you can use them in the
- other scenarios. You will *not* get a chance to enter the menu after
- the boss.
- [Boss]
- - You can use Celes's Runic ability to block some of its spells.
- - Thus concludes Locke's scenario.
- Party: Sabin Lv16 \\\ House by the river ||
- Shop:
- Shuriken 30 gil
- Inviz Edge 200 gil
- Shadow Edge 400 gil
- - You can recruit Shadow to your party here if you want. He might
- ditch the party at times, though.
- - Stock up on Tonics.
- - If you have the Earrings available, give it to Sabin to boost Aura
- Bolt and Fire Dance.
- - Once you reach the Imperial Camp, the game briefly switches over
- to Cyan (aka Cayenne).
- Lost & Found: Black Belt (Leader) \\\ Doma Castle ||
- Default (Cyan): Ashura, Buckler, Leather Hat, Leather Armor
- - Take out the leader. Back to Sabin.
- \\\ Imperial Camp ||
- Items: Star Pendant, Mithril Glove, Barrier Ring
- Lost & Found: Green Beret (Telstar)
- - Better head out and save your game at this point.
- - Get the last three chests immediately after your first encounter with
- Kefka. One of them is a monster-in-a-box (Telstar + Soldier).
- - The Barrier Ring is in the tent right behind the one that had the
- Mithril Glove and Telstar. Sabin will jump to it when you get behind
- the other one.
- - Once you have the items, chase Kefka. After a couple of events,
- you'll team up with Cyan and flee the camp.
- \\\ Phantom Forest ||
- - Wander around the forest to find a train.
- \\\ Phantom Train ||
- Items: Earrings, Phoenix Down, Sniper Sight, Phoenix Down
- Lost & Found: Hyper Wrist (Specter)
- Bosses: Specter, Phantom Train
- - There's a save point in the last car.
- - Hopefully you've gotten decent with Fire Dance.
- - The ghosts will either attack you, join you, or sell you items.
- - When you enter the 3rd car, a ghost will block your way out. Beat him
- up, and you'll soon find yourself in the 5th car (second save point).
- - You can skip the 7th car. Nothing important there,
- - In car 8, you'll find 4 chests including a monster-in-a-box (I'll count
- these as bosses from now on).
- - Car 9: third save point.
- - In the engine room, you need to flip both switches on the side, then go
- to the front of the train.
- [Boss]
- - Nothing special here. A Phoenix Down would result in an instant kill.
- Boss: Rizopas \\\ Barren Falls ||
- - Shadow will leave the party here (if he already hasn't), so unequip
- anything important he might have.
- Items (nc): Elixir, Tintinabar \\\ Mobliz ||
- Shop:
- Mithril Knife 300 gil Iron Armor 700 gil
- Mithril Blade 450 gil Iron Helm 1000 gil
- Mithril Claw 800 gil Bandana 800 gil
- Kotetsu 800 gil Magus Hat 600 gil
- White Cape 5000 gil
- Dried Meat 150 gil
- - You'll need to use Dried Meat to get Gau in your party.
- - In order to score the Tintinabar, you'll need to complete a little
- side quest. In one of the houses, you'll find a guy lying in bed and
- a letter on the table nearby. Examine the letter (which is from his
- girlfriend) to read it to him. You have to keep sending his letters to
- her and reading the letters she writes back. You can send the letters
- in the house with the carrier pidgeys (it'll cost you 500 gil each time).
- For some reason, in order to trigger the girlfriend's letters, you'll
- have to talk to one of the shopkeepers.
- - Eventually, there will be no response. At that point, he'll give you
- the Tintinabar. The regeneration this accessory gives you per step is
- base Stamina/4.
- Default (Gau): none \\\ Veldt ||
- - The encounters on the Veldt consist of encounters you've triggered
- outside of the Veldt. This excludes nearly all bosses and some other
- special encounters.
- - As you can see, Gau has no Attack command (not that he'd have much
- use for it seeing as he can't equip any weapons). Instead, he has Rage
- and Leap, the latter of which can only be used here in the Veldt. When
- you use Leap, the enemies in that encounter will be added to Gau's Rage
- list. Using Rage then allows him to take on (some of) the abilities of
- these enemies.
- - There are about 250 Rages in total. Getting all of them is a pretty
- lengthy task. I never bother with it myself.
- - Default Rage: Brawler, Enzeru Wisp, Were-Rat, Rhinotaur, Lobo,
- Epokusupuresu, Karutagura, Shibiruamoru, M-TekArmor.
- Items: X-Potion, Green Beret \\\ Crescent Rock & Serpent's Trench||
- Item (nc): Tonic
- - Once you find the diving helmet, you'll immediately jump into the water.
- - Turn right at every opportunity to get the two chests.
- Item (nc): Elixir \\\ Nikeah ||
- Shop:
- Mithril Pike 800 gil
- Silk Robe 600 gil
- Fairy Ring 1500 gil
- Smoke Bomb 300 gil
- - Once you're ready, board the ship to end the scenario.
- Party: Terra, Edgar, Banon \\\ Narshe Mines ||
- - The last scenario is very short and easy. Just go through the mines
- again to reach the house you woke up in.
- - Do *not* open the chest in the Moogles' lair! It has a Rune Edge in
- it right now, but get it later and you'll get a Ribbon instead.
- Theft: Mithril Vest (Rider) \\\ Narshe Valley ||
- Lost & Found: Peace Ring (Kefka)
- Bosses: Rider, Kefka
- - Once all three scenarios have been completed, your next mission will
- be driving away the imperial forces from Narshe. You'll have to split
- your 8 characters into three groups while doing so.
- [Boss]
- - Better steal that Mithril Vest.
- [Boss]
- \\\ Narshe ||
- Items: 5000 gil, Earrings, Thief Knife, Hyper Wrist, Sneak Ring,
- Wall Ring
- Item (nc): Elixir
- Shop:
- Full Moon 2500 gil Iron Armor 700 gil
- Flail 2000 gil Silk Robe 600 gil
- Regal Cutlass 800 gil Mithril Shield 1200 gil
- Air Lancet 950 gil Iron Helm 1000 gil
- Mithril Pike 800 gil Bandana 800 gil
- Mithril Claw 800 gil Plumed Hat 600 gil
- Kotetsu 800 gil
- Mithril Glove 700 gil
- Barrier Ring 500 gil
- - Terra will be MIA for a good while. Choose a party from the remaining
- 7 characters (Locke would be highly recommended, so you can keep stealing
- stuff). If you form a party with fewer than 4 characters, you can get
- Shadow to hang out with you again.
- Shop: \\\ Figaro Castle ||
- Revivify 300 gil
- Flash 1000 gil
- Drill 3000 gil
- - If you put Edgar in the lead, you'll get a 50% discount on the items.
- - Talk to the old guy in one of the rooms near the entrance to move
- the castle.
- Item (nc): Hero Ring \\\ House North of Kohlingen ||
- - The Hero Ring is the Atlas Armlet and Earrings combined. It increases
- both physical and magical damage by a bit.
- Item: Green Beret \\\ Kohlingen ||
- Item (nc): Elixir
- Shop:
- Head Band 1600 gil
- Fire Skean 500 gil
- Water Edge 500 gil
- Bolt Edge 500 gil
- - Shadow's here.
- Item (nc): Tincture \\\ Jidoor ||
- Shop:
- Kaiser Knuckle 1000 gil Mithril Vest 1200 gil
- Forged 1200 gil Ninja Gear 1100 gil
- Kodachi 1200 gil White Dress 2200 gil
- Earrings 5000 gil
- Peace Ring 3000 gil
- Sniper Sight 3000 gil
- - Gear up, then head for Zozo.
- \\\ Zozo ||
- Items: Tincture, Chain Saw, Tonic, Thief Glove, Fire Knuckle,
- Running Shoes, X-Potion
- Items (nc): Tincture, Potion
- Theft: Atlas Armlet (HadesGigas), Goggles / Dragoon Boots (Harvester),
- Potion / Thief Knife (SlamDancer)
- Espers: Ramuh, Stray, Siren, Kirin
- Boss: Dadaluma
- - Set the clock to 6:10:50 in one of the buildings to get the Chain Saw.
- - The Dragoon Boots changes the Attack command to Jump. There all sorts
- of glitches related to Jumping, so I suggest you never use this. It's
- not that powerful anyway, although you *can* double the damage if
- you're equipped with a spear, but even then it just takes too long.
- - The Thief Glove changes the Steal command to Capture, allowing you
- to steal while attacking, which isn't *bad,* but I'm not sure if it's
- something worth wasting an accessory slot for.
- - There's no save point before the boss, but he's not that hard.
- [Boss]
- - Once you find Terra, you'll obtain your first Espers (Genjuu /
- Summon Monsters) whose powers are contained within Magicite.
- Equipping a Magicite (through the Skills menu) enables you to:
- × learn spells (from now on, (most) enemies will give you AP)
- × summon the Esper
- × gain stat bonuses when leveling up
- - These stat bonuses are extremely important, as it's the only way
- to permanently increase your stats (other than HP and MP). Unfortunately,
- none of these four Espers will allow you to increase your Strength,
- but we'll get some pretty soon. Increasing your Stamina is a *very*
- low priority. A higher Stamina rating will *not* decrease the damage
- you take from physical attacks!
- - Speak to your other characters to "warp" out. If you walk out manually,
- you *cannot* trigger the event in Jidoor.
- - Locke and Celes will now be mandatory party members.
- - From now on, you should probably pay attention to which characters are
- close to leveling up, so you can switch to a useful Esper right before
- they hit it. Right now, that Esper would be Stray, who gives you a +1
- to Magic. Not much, but it'll have to do.
- \\\ Jidoor ||
- - Talk to Impresario in the manor north. Check the letter he drops,
- then head for the opera house south of town.
- Boss: Ultros 2 \\\ Opera House ||
- - Save your game before talking to Impresario. Celes won't be
- participating in any of the battles.
- - During the opera scene, choose the following lines:
- 1. | Oh, my hero... <---
- | Alas, Draco
- 2. | I Wish...
- | I'm the darkness <---
- 3. | Must I <---
- | Prince Ralse...
- - After that, you have to dance around with Draco, pick up the flowers,
- and go to the very end of the top area. You have limited time during
- all of these.
- - Once you're in control of Locke again, go check the letter in the
- dressing room, then return and talk to Impresario.
- - You now have 5 minutes to reach Ultros before something bad happens.
- The first thing you need to do is unlock the door in the northwest room.
- Go to the northeast room to find four switches. Hit the right-most one,
- and the door will be unlocked. When fighting the rats, take out the
- Goetia first, as it can call for reinforcements.
- [Boss]
- - After some scenes, you'll find yourself on the southern continent.
- Items (nc): Elixir, Tincture, Potion \\\ Albrook ||
- Shop:
- Epee 3000 gil
- Poison Claw 2500 gil
- Blossom 3200 gil
- Bard's Hat 3000 gil
- Wall Ring 6000 gil
- Amulet 5000 gil
- Shop: \\\ Tzen ||
- Boomerang 4500 gil
- Running Shoes 7000 gil
- Black Belt 5000 gil
- Items (nc): Revivify, Remedy \\\ Maranda ||
- Shop:
- Boomerang 4500 gil
- Trident 1700 gil
- Mithril Mail 3500 gil
- Mithril Helm 2000 gil
- Green Beret 3000 gil
- - The Mithril Helm is not much stronger than the Iron Helm, so you
- can probably skip it.
- \\\ Vector ||
- - Talk to the suspicious old man behind the crates to proceed. Just
- climb up using the crates while he's distracting the guards.
- \\\ Magitek Factory ||
- Items: Flame Sabre, Tincture, X-Potion, Thunder Blade, Remedy,
- Gold Shield, Dragoon Boots, Zephyr Cape, Blizzard, Gold Helm,
- Gold Armor, Tent, Break Blade
- Theft: Rune Blade / Drainer (Number 024), Tempest (Artifact) (Number 128)
- Lost & Found: Flame Sabre / Blizzard (Number 024)
- Espers: Ifrit, Shiva, Unicorn, Maduin, Shoat, Phantom, Carbunkl,
- Bismarck
- Bosses: Ifrit, Number 024, Number 128 (+ Left Blade & Right Blade),
- Left Crane & Right Crane
- - You will no longer have access to this dungeon once you complete
- the events here.
- - This is the point where I really decided to put some effort into
- halting my level progress, so I could (somewhat) properly boost my
- stats before the end of the first world.
- - There are some fairly elusive chests here.
- × The Gold Shield is in the first area, but can only be reached
- from the second area.
- × Don't miss the pipe on the east side of the second area.
- × The chest with the Gold Armor is completely hidden from view. It's
- the south-most chest in the second area.
- - Make sure you've found all the items (save for the Break Blade) before
- you follow the two Espers you saw Kefka dispose of. Check your levels as
- well, so you won't get wiped out by Lv5 Death after the boss.
- [Boss: Ifrit]
- - If you use Psycho Cyan here, the game will be locked in an infinite
- loop forcing you to reset the game.
- - You'll obtain two new Espers, Ifrit and Shiva, with more to come.
- The left door leads to a save point.
- - In the next areas, you'll run into Trappers, who will bomb you with
- the level specific enemy skills. You definitely do *not* want your levels
- to be divisible by 5 here (4 is pretty bad too).
- - The Break Blade is completely hidden from view in the room with
- the empty tanks.
- [Boss: Number 024]
- - Steal the Rune Blade.
- - De-equip everything Celes has before you examine the switch in the
- room with the 6 Espers. She'll be going on a vacation at this point.
- - 6 new Espers: Unicorn, Maduin, Shoat, Phantom, Carbuncle, Bismarck.
- × Bismarck gives you +2 to Strength. *Do* try and have it equipped
- on any character leveling up.
- - You'll fight several Mag Roaders before facing the next boss.
- [Boss: Number 128]
- - Steal the Tempest.
- - Setzer will team up with you for the last boss battle.
- [Boss: Left Crane & Right Crane]
- - You'll return to Zozo where you have to control Maduin during
- a flashback event.
- Party: Locke Lv23, Terra Lv22, Edgar Lv23, Sabin Lv24, Cyan Lv21,
- Setzer Lv21, Gau Lv21
- Default (Setzer): Cards (Unique), Mithril Shield, Bandana, Mithril Vest
- - After the events, Terra will be able to join the party again, and
- you will have control of the airship. Don't get too excited, though.
- There's not much else you can do other than progress the story.
- - Better stay away from the triangle shaped island unless you feel
- like taking on Intangir and his 32 000 HP. If you're curious about it,
- make sure you load your game afterwards, as otherwise you'll start
- running into him in the Veldt. If you want his Rage, wait until you're
- at the very end of the first world.
- - If you need cash for the stuff below, I'd recommend hitting the Veldt.
- Esper: Sraphim \\\ Tzen ||
- - Buy Seraphim from the guy hiding behind the trees for 3000 gil.
- Auction: \\\ Jidoor ||
- Cure Ring 20 000 gil
- Cherub Down 10 000 gil
- Golem (Esper) 20 000 gil
- Zone Seek (Esper) 10 000 gil
- - The auction house is now in action.
- - Better not waste 10k on a Cherub Down. It just gives you Auto-Levitate.
- The Cure Ring is a little better (Auto-Regen), but it's still quite a
- bit of money.
- - Zone Seeker gives you +2 to Magic, so definitely get that.
- Default (Mog): Mithril Pike, Mithril Shield \\\ Narshe ||
- Shop:
- Hawkeye 6000 gil Power Sash 5000 gil
- Morning Star 5000 gil Gold Shield 2500 gil
- Poison Rod 1500 gil Gold Helm 4000 gil
- Tiara 3000 gil
- - The shops have updated their wares.
- - Go back to the house with the treasure chests to encounter Lone Wolf,
- who's up to no good as usual. Follow him through the mines to find him
- at the cliff holding Mog as hostage. Stand still, and you'll soon have
- to choose which one to rescue. You should definitely help Mog, as

- - Pass through the Imperial Base east of Vector to get here. You'll
- need to have Terra in your party.
- - You will no longer have access to this dungeon after a future
- story event.
- - Soon after the Genji Glove, you'll find three switches.
- × The left one opens the path to a save point.
- × Do *not* pull the middle one! If you do, you'll trigger a fixed
- encounter with a Ninja (173 xp), and you *cannot* run away from
- these guys. Unfortunately, you'll soon have to go through a dungeon
- where they appear as normal encounters. Fairly bad news not just
- because of the experience, but because they like to spam you with
- their ninjutsu skills (~300 pod to all).
- × The right one lets you proceed.
- - Examine the area near the chest with the second Ether to find
- the nc-items.
- - After the event at the gate, you'll find a short cut out. After
- being attacked by Espers, your airship crashes near Maranda.
- - Keep in mind, once you complete the events at the Imperial Castle,

- - SAVE YOUR GAME, then head for the Imperial Palace. Once you talk
- to Gestahl, you'll initiate an event during which you'll be scored
- points based on your actions. Obviously, we want the highest score
- possible to get the best magic items. Might take a couple of tries,
- but it'll be worth it.
- - The first thing you need to do is go around the castle and talk to
- as many soldiers as you can within the course of 4 minutes (excluding
- the two guys near you when you begin). There are 24 of them in total,
- and 4 of them will fight you (give Bismarck to anyone close to leveling
- up). You may want to save the chests for later.
- - During the banquet, you'll be presented with several dialog options.
- 1. | To the Empire
- | To the Returner
- | To our hometowns <---
- 2. | Leave him in jail <---
- | Pardon him
- | Execute him
- 3. | What's done is done
- | That was inexcusable <---
- | Apologize again
- 4. | Was she an Imperial spy?
- | Celes is one of us <---
- | We trust Celes
- - You'll now ask him three questions. Don't repeat any of them, and
- memorize which one you chose first.
- 5. | Yes, the Espers have gone too far <---
- | But you unleashed their power
- 6. (Which question you asked first)
- - You'll now take a short break. This is where you need to beat up
- Gestahl's body guards. You'll fight them in a single battle and you
- can talk to any of them to trigger it.
- 7. | That all you really want is peace
- | That your war's truly over <---
- | That you're sorry
- 8. Yes <---
- - And that's it. As you head out of the castle, a guy will come and

- - And, yeah, then there's Strago's enemy skills. I don't really use

- × Step Mine: Used by GreaseMonks around South Figaro when confused.

- the Back Guard, Gale Hairpin, Charm Bangle and the one Ribbon you have.
- - As previously mentioned, you can't run away from Ninjas. They always
- come in two, but sometimes they're accompanied by a Wirey Drgn
- in which case you can run away once only the Wirey Drgn is left.
- In all other cases, you just have to kill them and eat up the 347 xp.
- - Brainpans are probably even more annoying than the Ninjas. Their

- × Team A: Terra, Celes, Edgar, Sabin
- × Team B: Mog
- - Using the two teams is fairly simple. Every time you run into an
- obstacle, you switch to the other team and find a switch that allows
- you to proceed.
- - The hard part is dealing with the enemy called Phase. Whenever they're
- present in battle, you can't run away.

- +2 | Excalibur
- +3 | Aura Lance
- +3 | Tiger Fang

- Lost & Found: Strato (Red Dragon)
- Boss: Red Dragon
- - If either party is defeated, it's game over. You're looking at
- Confusion, Zombification and Instant Death (Doom and Warp). Better
- bring in Shadow and / or Relm.
- - You can fight the Red Dragon with either team.
- Esper: (Raiden) \\\ Ancient Castle ||
- Lost & Found: Scimitar (Unique) (Blue Dragon)
- Boss: Blue Dragon
- - Take 5 steps south from the right throne and hit confirm to open
- a new path on the east side.
- - Do *not* approach the petrified woman! If you check her, you'll lose
- Odin and obtain Raiden, but you should keep Odin until you're done
- leveling everyone up.
- \\\ Narshe ||
- Lost & Found: Force Shield (Artifact) (Freeze Dragon)
- Esper: Tritoch
- Bosses: Freeze Dragon, Tritoch
- - You need to have Mog in your party to get Umaro to join.
- - You'll find Freeze Dragon on the snowfield beyond the mines and
- Tritoch by the cliff. Save the game before jumping down the cliff.
- \\\ Umaro's Cave ||
- Items: X-Ether, Gauntlet (Artifact)
- Theft: Minerva (Artifact) (Pubs)
- Lost & Found: Minerva (3× Pubs)
- Esper: Terrato
- PC: Umaro
- Bosses: 3× Pugs, Umaro
- - The first chest is a monster-in-a-box with 3 Tonberries.
- [Boss: 3× Pubs]
- - These aren't the same as the normal Tonberries you can encounter here.
- They drop one Minerva Vest, but you can also steal three more from them.
- - Check the skull to find another Magicite as well as encounter Umaro.
- [Boss]
- - Umaro can't be controlled, can't equip any Espers, and you can't even
- change his equipment (aside from accessories).
- \\\ Cyan's Dream ||

- X-Potion, Ice Shield
- Theft: Memento Ring (Wrexsoul)
- Lost & Found: Pod Bracelet (Wrexsoul)
- Bosses: Larry, Curly & Moe, Wrexsoul (& 2× SoulSaver)
- - Go rest in one of the rooms in Doma castle with Cyan in your party
- and you'll end up in Cyan's dream / soul.
- - Your party will be divided. Cyan won't return until you're done.
- - After fighting the Dream Stooges, you'll end up at a train. This
- is where you'll find the chests. Don't miss them, as you can't explore
- these areas again.
- - The next area is a mine. It'll loop endlessly unless you try heading
- back.
- - The last area is Doma castle. Go to the throne room to fight Wrexsoul.
- [Boss: Wrexsoul]
- - You'll need to kill one of your own characters to make him appear.

- Item (nc): Pearl Lance (Unique)
- Bosses: White Dragon, MagiMaster
- - No save points.
- - The only commands available here are Magic and Item. You can still
- use physical attacks if you cast Berserk.
- - Check the wall next to the first chest to open the path to the Air
- Anchor outside.
- [Boss]
- [Boss]
- - His physical defense is very high.
- - He'll cast Ultima as a final attack (~5000 pod).
- \\\ Thamasa ||
- - Bring in both Strago and Relm to trigger a scene with some guy named
- Gungho. Afterwards, you can enter Ebot's Rock just north of Thamasa.
- \\\ Ebot's Rock ||
- Item: n× Coral (Special, Temp)
- Theft: Warp Stone / Thornlet (Hidon)
- Boss: Hidon (+ 4× Erebos)
- - The teleporters here take you to random locations. You'll have to go
- around collecting Coral and then feed it to the talking chest to reach
- the boss. If you want a Thornlet (and, by extension, a Mirage Vest),
- you'll need to save before giving the coral (one of the rooms has a save
- point), as the chest will simply come back if you leave after feeding it.
- [Boss]
- - Take out the Hidonites and Hidon will use Grand Trine.
- - You can fight Hidon again if you want to. Just talk to Gungho until
- he mentions it.
- Esper: Raiden \\\ Ancient Castle ||
- - If and *only* if you've leveled up all your characters (or at least
- the ones that can equip Espers), you can go ahead and get Raiden (you'll
- lose Odin in the process).

- Excalibur (Unique) (Goddess)
- Esper: Crusader
- Bosses: Atma, Gold Dragon, Inferno (+ Striker & Rough), Skull Dragon,
- Guardian, Doom, Poltrgeist, Goddess, 3x (unknown), Kefka
- - You'll split into three parties.
- - Ultima Buster and the two dragons are optional.
- - Doom Dragons will use Fallen One when wounded, so watch out. You can
- only encounter them in one area, though (just like some of the other
- enemies).
- [Boss: Atma] a
- [Boss: Gold Dragon] b
- [Boss: Inferno] c
- [Boss: Skull Dragon] c
- - Upon defeating the 8 dragons, you'll receive the Esper, Crusader.
- - Once you've stepped on the three switches in the area where you mostly
- encounter Gamma, the only way to leave is by using Warp. You'll likely
- need to use it in order to steal the items from the upcoming bosses.

- b a c
- [Boss: Guardian] (middle) b/c
- - Steal the Force Armor.
- [Boss: Doom] (middle) b/c
- [Boss: Poltrgeist] (left) a/c
- - Steal the Safety Bit.
- - Make sure you have Strago with you in this one, as this is your only
- chance to learn Force Field.
- [Boss: Goddess] (right) a/b
- - You can steal a Minerva Vest from this one, but you might already
- have enough of them.
- - Better have those Safety Bits equipped on this one. She can inflict
- Death Sentence on all your characters with Overcast (can't be evaded).
- Those that die from it will turn into Zombies and there's no way to
- prevent it *or* heal it (at least none that I'm aware of).
- - She tends to counter actions with Love Token, which causes the
- character to protect her until they're dead (doesn't cover X-Fight,
- though). She can also Charm your characters. With Ribbons,
- you don't have to worry about these two.
- - The second chest with a Ribbon is completely hidden from view in the
- area where you fight Kishin.
- - The final battle begins when you step on the three switches at the
- three dead ends.
- [Boss]
- - If a character is dead at the end of these battles, they'll be replaced.

- [Boss]

- [Boss]
- - You can steal an Ultima Weapon and a Ragnarök from these.
- - This one will take one or two characters with it, so better cast Life 3.

- [Boss: Kefka]
- End of file.
