  1. What is it?
  2. V2X stands for Vehicle-to-Infrustructure communication is the wireless data exchange between vehicles
  3. and everything around which is for example road infrastructure ( V2I), pedestrians who have their phones (V2P),
  4. environment or other vehicles (V2V).
  5.
  6. How does it work?
  7. V2X communication technology is a wireless exchange of data between vehicle and road infrastructure.
  8. This communication works in both directions - sensors placed in cars exchange informations with sensors
  9. placed on the elements of road infrastructure and conversely. Elements that belong to the road
  10. infrastructure are for example parking meters, overhead readers and RFID cameras (ang. Radio-Frequency Identification),
  11. road signs, traffic lights, street lamps and lane markers. V2X sensors collect data sent from different elements
  12. of road infrastructure and then hand them over to drivers. Thanks to this operation drivers can get information
  13. about their surroundings in present time.
  14.
  15. Why do we need it?
  16. There are many research that proves that V2X applications can increase the level of safety, mobility and minimalize
  17. the impact of cars on the environment.
  18. Thanks to V2X the drivers will be notified about things such:
  19. traffic jams, construction zones or approaching emergency vehicle - Mobility - travel time reduction
  20. road conditions, upcoming pedestrian coming, speed limit - Safety - reduce the number of fatalities
  21. phase of the trafic light - environment conservation - saving fuel and reduction of the number of kilometers traveled-
  22.
  23. Future
  24. Thanks to the V2X technology in the future we will be able to have inteligent cars, which will contibute to increase of safety,
  25. improve flow of traffic and lessen the impact of vehicles on the environment. Also there will be cars that won't need drivers,
  26. so the possibility of taxis and trucks without them may soon be fullfilled.
