  1. we can use under-pressure chamber
  2. one end has a chamber with cold gas, and the other one is empty, so when the otehr opens to let the gas in and then presses it out into the otehr direction the oterh one lets gas in
  3. a bit like a heart
  4. or exactly like the heart
  5. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:39 PM
  6. multi layered shell system
  7. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:39 PM
  8. neh...
  9. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:39 PM
  10. my main issue with that is you need to be able to control those valves(edited)
  11. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:39 PM
  12. and we still gotaa worry about the edge...
  13. you are, they are under the second layer, so they can have nerves without problems(edited)
  14. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:39 PM
  15. i was thinking something along the line of a gas sack
  16. hmm okay
  17. seconds layer filles, with cold gas, pushes hot gas through ports in the outer shell?
  18. fills*
  19. first layer* god damnit lol
  20. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:40 PM
  21. no
  22. we got chamber 1 and chamber 2
  23. chamber 1 pumps cold gas i, chamber 2 pumps hot gas out
  24. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:41 PM
  25. would that be something like
  26. ------------------------------------
  27. || || ||
  28. ------------------------------------
  29. || || ||
  30. ------------------------------------(edited)
  31. where the first one is filled with cold gas?
  32. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:43 PM
  33. i mean it liek this:
  34. -----------------------------
  35. || || ||
  36. ------ -------- ---- -----
  37. -----| |------| |--| |----
  38. maybe more chambers, so ratehr chambertype 1 and chambertype 2
  39. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:44 PM
  40. so those bottom valves let the gas in. Would they close to cut of the gasous connection?
  41. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:44 PM
  42. yes
  43. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:44 PM
  44. okay yea, i totally see that.
  45. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:44 PM
  46. they also pump gas in and soem pump gas out, wait, ill make a better one
  47. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:44 PM
  48. well we also need the organ itself to pump the gas in
  49. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:47 PM
  50. ------------------------------------------------------
  51. || || || ||
  52. --------- ^ --------- v ------------- v ------- ^ -----
  53. ----- ->| |<- -- ->| |<- ------ ->| |<- -->| |<---
  54. the arrows being the muscles
  55. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:47 PM
  56. gas in? Hmm
  57. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:47 PM
  58. gas in is ^
  59. and gas out is v
  60. ->| |<- being the chamber with muscles(edited)
  61. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:48 PM
  62. why would we have gas moving from hot side to inside?
  63. btw good diagram for ascii lol
  64. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:48 PM
  65. xD
  66. to regulate the pressure and to get cool gas out so the gas doesnt overheat and burns stuff
  67. we cant have any tissue damage(edited)
  68. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:49 PM
  69. i was thinking about letting hot gas out of the shell completely
  70. lava should be viscous enough that enough pressure could purge it out of the body completely
  71. like a shell fart
  72. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:50 PM
  73. we would need nerves in the outer shell for that
  74. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:50 PM
  75. that's why i was talking about pressure
  76. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:50 PM
  77. woudl probably let lava in
  78. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:50 PM
  79. basically a friction based port, higher pressure, more likely to "pop"
  80. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:50 PM
  81. and that would also heat the oterh gases
  82. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:50 PM
  83. well that why i was thinking, lava is very thick
  84. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:50 PM
  85. but maybe we can use a one-way membran
  86. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:51 PM
  87. it would take some time to move in if the gas escaping was moving fast enough
  88. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:51 PM
  89. if the lava doesnt coem in, it still heats the gasses directly, and we dont wand that
  90. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:51 PM
  91. i could see that issue
  92. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:51 PM
  93. lava is fast, trust me
  94. its not ultra slow
  95. lava can reach 50kmh
  96. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:52 PM
  97. i was thinking in a 0m/s state
  98. from stationary to moving
  99. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:52 PM
  100. and with pyroclastic clouds the shit gets faster than 100mkh(edited)
  101. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:52 PM
  102. yea, it's not the best idea
  103. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:52 PM
  104. lava is fast, very fast(edited)
  105. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:52 PM
  106. so it would rotate the gas into the body to cool it?
  107. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:52 PM
  108. and lava fallign down is like a drop of water
  109. yes, that could be a good thing
  110. and sicne we got a very cool environtment too we can the body fast too
  111. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:53 PM
  112. but how would it cool is the problem
  113. well sub 5 minutes
  114. i guess we would only need 1 cycle
  115. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:53 PM
  116. hm.. does heavy water save more energy than normal water?
  117. we could maybe use the energy storing capacity of water
  118. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:54 PM
  119. well it also depends on how cold the air is
  120. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:54 PM
  121. its cold, very cold
  122. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:55 PM
  123. if the creature leaves the lava, cooling both gasus, by rotating them
  124. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:55 PM
  125. normal environment of EM-8ER is under -60°C
  126. exceptions are volcanoes and terraformed zones(edited)
  127. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:56 PM
  128. so, if the creature can cool both of them on the surface, then it's down to how long it takes the gas to heat before needing to rotate
  129. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:56 PM
  130. yep, and maybe let it rotate through a fluid that is able to store qutie much energy
  131. with help of membrans
  132. so we can store the energy temporarely
  133. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:57 PM
  134. or lack there of?
  135. or are we talking about keeping the heat energy
  136. OOOOOOH
  137. That's how it can survive the surface temps!
  138. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:58 PM
  139.
  140. Mr Arca9 - Today at 5:58 PM
  141. damn that's a good idea
  142. 7ux0n0 - Today at 5:59 PM
  143. if it gets too cold it jst gets back into the normal environment till it gets flooded, then it returns back into the cold area to hunt
  144. and then waiting in the warm area for the next lava period
  145. oh man, we turned a simple question into a living concept D:
  146. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:00 PM
  147. Using lava to extend it's period on the planet
  148. welp, we now need to pitch this idea to @Grummz
  149. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:00 PM
  150. i actually thought off going int othe cold zone to cool down, but it needs to hunt, and where can it hunt except in the cold zone?
  151. zdoofop - Today at 6:00 PM
  152. or make a yt video on it
  153. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:01 PM
  154. oh boy...
  155. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:01 PM
  156. that makes sense too
  157. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:01 PM
  158. mat pat should be proud of us!
  159. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:01 PM
  160. But it's home ground would need to be around volcanos for the energy
  161. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:01 PM
  162. *would
  163. Dinsdale Piranha - Today at 6:01 PM
  164. Now that you guys have figured out the physiology of a lava fish, how are we going to catch it? A regular fishing pole isn't going to cut it.
  165. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:01 PM
  166. yep
  167. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:02 PM
  168. Welllll it's not a lava fish per-se i don't think
  169. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:02 PM
  170. its not a fish
  171. more a mamal
  172. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:02 PM
  173. i was thinking reptile
  174. hard plated outside
  175. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:02 PM
  176. no, we cant have eggs
  177. wait
  178. Dinsdale Piranha - Today at 6:02 PM
  179. So you guys evolved the lava fish? Great going.
  180. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:02 PM
  181. you thought of it too didn't you
  182. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:02 PM
  183. armadillo got a carapace too
  184. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:02 PM
  185. eggs don't have to be in the lava though
  186. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:03 PM
  187. and we cant have eggs, tehy need to be mamals
  188. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:03 PM
  189. need?
  190. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:03 PM
  191. or somethign close
  192. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:03 PM
  193. no eggs allowed on this planet? lol
  194. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:03 PM
  195. no, jsut that tehy would probably get eaten when outside the pool
  196. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:03 PM
  197. maybe it could be more of a pack animal
  198. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:03 PM
  199. and we cant have a venting system in eggs
  200. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:04 PM
  201. the eggs would have to be in the "butter" zone away from the lava but still warm enough
  202. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:04 PM
  203. so maybe the mother births it herself and carry it
  204. the butter zoen wil be full of predators that want those eggs too
  205. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:04 PM
  206. the heat managment makes me think of reptials because they can't do it on their own
  207. that's why i was thinking about a pack animal
  208. preditors would have a harder time, due to numbers
  209. it also depends on how BIG we want this thing to be
  210. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:05 PM
  211. and since their way of live is so hard, they got long carrying periods
  212. the predators coudl get the eggs in the hunting time and the lava period
  213. zdoofop - Today at 6:05 PM
  214. that doesn't necessarily rule out reptillian though
  215. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:05 PM
  216. we are getting into the life cycle now, and creature behavoir
  217. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:06 PM
  218. they need to be back in the next lava period to heat up again,
  219. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:06 PM
  220. depends if the creature is socal or not
  221. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:06 PM
  222. and lava periods probably wont be every 10 mins lol
  223. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:06 PM
  224. there is always a risk of losing eggs
  225. that's just life really
  226. unless they can store enough energy/food to watch over them until hatch
  227. could just be 1 egg(edited)
  228. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:07 PM
  229. still, they probably cant birth them fast, i think of a pregnancy of like 14 months(edited)
  230. zdoofop - Today at 6:07 PM
  231. what would they eat?
  232. they can't be herbivores, since there is no vegetation on emer
  233. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:07 PM
  234. the issue is pragnancy for that long would cause issues in being able to hunt/warm up
  235. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:07 PM
  236. predetors
  237. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:08 PM
  238. how large/well devolped are the offspring?
  239. because we could brith a small, but fully functional creautre
  240. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:08 PM
  241. maybe a slow growth in the pregnancy and then a bit faster after that, untill their stuff is hard enough, then they get big
  242. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:09 PM
  243. first couple of months are the shell hardning phase where it can't actually go in lava, but can be near it?
  244. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:09 PM
  245. maybe within the shell of its mother
  246. soemthign ive been thinking quite a bit
  247. like a kangaroo(edited)
  248. zdoofop - Today at 6:10 PM
  249. what category kaiju would it be?
  250. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:10 PM
  251. like wrap around the child until it's shell is hard enough?
  252. ah okay, yea i could see that
  253. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:10 PM
  254. its nto a kaiju
  255. Mr Arca9 - Today at 6:10 PM
  256. almost exactly like a kangaroo
  257. 7ux0n0 - Today at 6:10 PM
  258. its wildlife
