Q: What are you trying to accomplish?

A: Beat the Champion as fast as possible.

Q: What are you playing on?

A: A Nintendo Gamecube console with Game Boy Player peripheral and GBA SP as a controller.

Q: What is the current world record?

A: 2:06:01 in-game time by me.

Q: Why did you reset?

A: In most cases I either didn't get the Mudkip I was looking for or I died. However I will also reset at 30 min if I haven't caught an Abra, or if I took a bad Abra AND get hit by Trent (hiker spinner on Route 112).

Q: What Mudkip are you running?

A: Buster's kip, 9829 | Lonely 6/29/31/25/24/24.

Q: What are the benefits of this Mudkip?

A: Such high attack guarantees ranges that are normally corrected by desert candy. Traditionally the candy is used either directly after Flannery (L27 > L28) or directly before Norman (L29 > L30). Both of these timings give L30 for Vigoroth, which is normally necessary to guarantee +6 MS OHKO. As well, the unique benefits of each candy timing are as follows: early candy = L28 for Machop (guarantees MS range) and L29 for Zangoose (helps MS x2 range), late candy = L30 for first Slaking (guarantees survival of Facade x2 for the average -def Mudkip). However, this Mudkip is already guaranteed to OHKO Machop at L27 and its perfect defense IV means it survives Facade x2 at L29 anyway. Due to this, I plan to earn an extra 462xp over standard cave exp (L16+27xp or 2562 total exp) so that I can candy in an unorthodox place--just before the Linoone in Petalburg Gym, granting L29 for Zangoose but also L29 for Linoone, giving me a decent chance to 3HKO. If I do not get this experience (in the case of a very quick Abra), I will candy after Flannery as usual (requires 189xp over standard cave exp).

Another invaluable benefit to 9829 is that it is female, preventing Attract shenanigans in the midgame (Lavaridge+Petalburg).

Q: Why not HP Fighting strats?

A: On the ideal outcome, HP Fighting saves only around 15s. This Mudkip has comparable stats to 10602, but is also female and has better special attack. In addition, the necessary shopping for my Archie 2 strats is a bit more expensive than standard shopping, so I would need to free up an extra $1500 for Hidden Power, which I'd rather not worry about. Lastly, I'm enjoying running the game with a variety of kips and want to get as wide a pool of experience doing so as I can so that should I get accepted to the PSR summer marathon, I will be prepared to run any Mudkip that I get to its fullest capacity.

Q: What is your goal time?

A: 2:04:xx IGT. 2:03 is my ultimate goal, though if we're being honest, sub-MBM is. For now current strats should net me the 2:04 without too much trouble, provided Abra cooperates.
