- Fringe groups attract people who, if not above average, are invested in knowing their own stuff and criticizing other nore mainstream groups they see themselves as in opposition to. Whereas the mainstreamers take their own beliefs for granted with little investigation and therefore little deep understanding. And dont care about the fringe until the fringe appears
