  6. Oh? Nice.
  7. swf541 - Today at 6:31 PM
  8. when i get home going to finish it up
  9. and add more historical ones
  10. you can hire them, and they auto disband at end of the war
  11. locked templates as well so they cant be replicated
  12. or edited
  13. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:32 PM
  14. Hmmm
  15. That sounds like something for WoD
  16. The prince of a given territory hires mercs for specific missions.
  17. swf541 - Today at 6:33 PM
  18. yep
  19. that would work
  20. i need it for the cold war due to africa
  21. and the rise of PMC's
  22. im suprised the modern day mods havent done it
  23. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:33 PM
  24. I just capped off the latest patch for 56 - and will be taking a break from it for quite a while. I completely cleared the error logs and I'm burned out from it.
  25. swf541 - Today at 6:33 PM
  26. considering the prevelance of PMC organizations
  27. congrats
  28. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:34 PM
  29. What system do you guys use for organizing your project?
  30. swf541 - Today at 6:34 PM
  31. github
  32. the template i used for mercs
  33. is the Paladin Group
  34. so only hirable by nationalists, fascists and national socialists
  35. lead by otto skorzeny
  36. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:43 PM
  37. I'm jealous.
  38. and admire your team's good work. Seems like you turned what was - kind of honestly - a not very good mod into something quite nice.
  39. I say that with full knowledge of how weird 56 is.
  40. swf541 - Today at 6:44 PM
  41. yea
  42. the mod was absolute shit
  43. tbh
  44. when i joined it
  45. your free to call it bad originally
  46. for fucks sake they og made the map
  47. in MS PAINT
  48. interent is laggy atm
  49. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:46 PM
  50. haha
  51. 56 is always going to be kind of terrible, to be honest.
  52. swf541 - Today at 6:46 PM
  53. its the fun sort though
  54. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:46 PM
  55. In the sense that so long as it's just me, I can only do so much.
  56. swf541 - Today at 6:46 PM
  57. mine was just all arround shit
  58. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:47 PM
  59. It did look like it was going to die.
  60. swf541 - Today at 6:47 PM
  61. agreed
  62. honestly im suprised it didnt
  63. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:47 PM
  64. Eh, there's always yet another paradox update to look forward to.
  65. swf541 - Today at 6:47 PM
  66. lol
  67. those dont hurt me that badly
  68. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:48 PM
  69. In some ways I also envy total overhauls like yours, because they're not as beholden to vanilla as 56 is.
  70. swf541 - Today at 6:48 PM
  71. we updated pretty fast
  72. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:48 PM
  73. 56 is dlc, basically. Not an overhaul.
  74. swf541 - Today at 6:48 PM
  75. very much so
  76. i couldnt stand making a vanilla hoi4 mod
  77. tbh
  78. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:48 PM
  79. I can't stand it, and I'm the one doing it.
  80. No joke when I say there were more than 450 broken focus references when 1.5 hit.(edited)
  81. swf541 - Today at 6:49 PM
  82. yea i think we had more
  83. but we have over 50 trees
  84. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:49 PM
  85. Yeah, makes sense.
  86. swf541 - Today at 6:49 PM
  87. national unity at least was an easy fix
  88. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:49 PM
  89. The most fun to fix bugs were the broken has_government checks that showed up in 1.5.1
  90. swf541 - Today at 6:49 PM
  91. trying to figure out the lag issue with 1.5
  92. lol what?
  93. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:49 PM
  94. yeah, there were 40 of them all of a sudden
  95. No line numbers or files
  96. Just an error for each one
  97. swf541 - Today at 6:50 PM
  98. has_government broke?
  99. or just false positive errors?
  100. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:50 PM
  101. No, they were always broken - but they were now being reported.
  102. swf541 - Today at 6:50 PM
  103. in your mod or the actual function is broke?
  104. i have a ton of them
  105. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:50 PM
  106. Actually broken in 56.
  107. They just never were reported before.
  108. swf541 - Today at 6:50 PM
  109. strange
  110. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:51 PM
  111. and there are hundreds of those things, so manually going through the code is out of the question.
  112. swf541 - Today at 6:51 PM
  113. they seem to work for me
  114. and my 26 ideologies lmfao
  115. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:51 PM
  116. What I ended up doing was creating a copy of the mod - and then auto replacing all valid has_government checks with "X"
  117. and then just looking at whatever was left
  118. swf541 - Today at 6:51 PM
  119. i see
  120. we got a list of errors of a few hundred(edited)
  121. but most are sound/ model stuff
  122. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:52 PM
  123. So it turned out people has mispelled democratic, or used liberalism as a has_government check. Some others were using fascist vs. fascim, etc.
  124. One person even apparently put in fascism+, which sounds fancy
  125. swf541 - Today at 6:52 PM
  126. welp that would cause it
  127. LOL what was wrong with them
  128. yeesh
  129. even my inexperienced people know better than that lol
  130. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:53 PM
  131. but the best part was that there was one left I couldn't find... and I was mumbling and joking about it with a guy on the team.
  132. ...and naturally it turned out to be a broken bit of code he'd written
  133. swf541 - Today at 6:53 PM
  134. LMFAO
  135. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:53 PM
  136. His shame was fairly intense.
  137. swf541 - Today at 6:54 PM
  138. should be
  139. lol
  140. once we got a un system in place i got a plan to do un peacekeepers in civil wars
  141. Greatexperiment - Today at 6:54 PM
  142. To be fair, the vast majority of contributions I get were from people that didn't know any better. That's why the code is so messy and inconsistent.
  143. I don't accept bad code anymore, but it doesn't change the fact that for a long time I wasn't so strict.
  144. swf541 - Today at 6:54 PM
  145. yea we had the same issue
