  1. {edeleth; prompt 8 – seductive kiss}
  2.
  3. One might say that Garreg Mach’s castle walls are never silent, the underground dwellers never sleep and the night is never actually quiet. Yet, for Byleth, the stillness of the patrols would be the only mask provided of what happened by the grounds, or by the hallways where student probably prowling over the curfew.
  4.
  5. It wasn’t once she witnessed one of Officer Academy’s student sneaked for the kitchen, or to see someone forget the hour and was reading at the library. Then again, after she is assigned for the night patrol, the incident has been minimal. Seteth even congratulated her of the achievements, though Byleth could say that she didn’t do anything much aside to creep soundlessly to greet the problem students.
  6.
  7. The night, too, didn’t belong to those ‘problem students’ alone.
  8.
  9. When Byleth rounded to the second floor of the dormitory, she knew someone would still be up because sleep evaded her, especially as the night is moonless – complete darkness bestowed the sky.
  10.
  11. “Professor, I didn’t hear you coming.”
  12.
  13. Edelgard would still be in her full uniform, barely out from her door to slip somewhere. Byleth nodded with a cant of a smile, lowering the lantern she was holding.
  14.
  15. “Are you going for the Goddess Tower again?”
  16.
  17. “And are you going to stop me?”
  18.
  19. “No, but I will come with you.”
  20.
  21. Edelgard raised her brow, “Are you sure?”
  22.
  23. “It’s a nice night out and …” Byleth paused, remembering something Dorothea had said to her when they were talking about Edelgard. “It is a waste not to share with you.”
  24.
  25. Edelgard held her breath, or so Byleth thought her doing since she was looking painfully rigid for seconds. The leader of Black Eagles then cleared her throat before replying, “That … that would be nice.”
  26.
  27. “Lead the way then, Edelgard.”
  28.
  29.
  30. -
  31.
  32. The walls might not be silent, nor the underground dwellers were – their night out to the empty Goddess Tower is not a secret anymore to the grass and pavements, and little that they ever minded about it. Nothing beats the night air to clear restless mind, Byleth agreed with Edelgard on that matter, also nothing is more breathtaking than a silent form of peace.
  33.
  34. They would converse mostly about Black Eagles’ class members as they settled for the Goddess Tower’s outskirt. They would keep the outings brief just to not raise any further suspicion. They would finish early sometimes, knowing whether tomorrow would be a busy day for Officers Academy and they got tasks to do.
  35.
  36. Then again, it was not that night.
  37.
  38. Byleth stopped as Edelgard settled on her favorite spot, gazing to the starless sky and letting the breeze push back her hair. She always look so happy when they are there and Byleth at times won’t stop herself to indulge further.
  39.
  40. “You’ve been silent for some time already, my teacher,” Edelgard tucked part of her hair behind her ears, her smile is warm and accommodating. “Did something bother you?”
  41.
  42. Byleth shook her head slightly, “I’m seeing you.”
  43.
  44. The Adrestia Princess tilted her head in question, “Yes, you are seeing me right now.”
  45.
  46. “You are beautiful,” at that, Edelgard blinked. “And I think …”
  47.
  48. “And you think…?”
  49.
  50. Despite her confusion from earlier, Edelgard was quick to recover. She waited, closing their distance until their elbows were touching above the hedge. Edelgard would never stop Byleth if she is the one to indulge, though usually Edelgard is the one to initiate. There was never a temptation between both of them, only a spark and then the next thing came naturally.
  51.
  52. Byleth would only kiss once and would never press for more, but it was not that particular night to think again.
