  1. Sonic Q&A:
  2.
  3. Q:How long does it usually take to write an issue?
  4. A solid number is difficult since there is a lot of start and stop in the process. First you have to put in the springboard that has to be approved by editors, that may have to be revised or approved by licensors, then there's a breakdown, revisions, script, then more revisions, etc. From initial springboard to final draft, it averages from 1-2 weeks.
  5.
  6. Q:could Bean the dynamite and other obscure characters potentially be reincorporated into the series or are they off limits?
  7. Ian is assuming they fall under the same classic embargo as Mighty and Ray were put under. He has not have it confirmed yet since he has not pursued it since they're focusing on other things right now.
  8.
  9. Q:In the far future, will we be able to see IDW Sonic's multiverse?
  10. As far as the games' multiverse (Blaze, Human, Classic) he hopes so.
  11.
  12. Q:Were you inspired by Game of Thrones to make the Chaos Emerald Throne?
  13. No, but it was inspired by something Ian can't recall.
  14.
  15. Q:I was wondering if it was possible to make Tangle and Whisper from the IDW Sonic series into figures made by Jakks Pacific. Tangle and Whisper are the most beloved and iconic characters in the IDW Sonic series and the Sonic series in general and it would be great to have figures made of them. They already have keychains and me and so many other people would like to see figure made of them.
  16. Ian had asked about the possibility of them ever getting merch on that level on the last livestream in Cali and the answer he got was a "not sure". The pins are a new benchmark, so fan support can possibly make things happen.
  17.
  18. Q:Since you confirmed that Archie Sonic was initially going to have the Metal Virus before IDW picked up the Sonic license, will you show these plans for the original Metal Virus story in Lost Hedgehog Tales or was it pretty the same as the current comic?
  19. It would have been very different since the cast, locations, and tone wouldn't have been the same. Archie's Zombot arc wasn't all that fleshed out yet too.
  20.
  21. Q:You said you’d mentioned it before, but why do you say Vector should have been Commander of the Resistance instead of Knuckles. Why is that? I can see why Knuckles might be a figurehead since he’s probably the “most admired” when Sonic isn’t around, but why Vector?
  22. Because Knuckles is a recluse, not a people's person or a leader of any kind. Vector runs the Chaotix Detective Agency so he has some leader experience. He's not a military general, but out of the cast he has lead people effectively and is a competent detective and can get results, silly as he may be.
  23.
  24. Q:While the events of the IDW Sonic comic aren't canon to the games, would you say the comic reflects canon in its depiction of each character's personality and ability? For example, could game!Eggman, as he said in the comics, just carpet bomb Sonic if he wanted to, but he doesn't because that wouldn't be personally satisfying for him?
  25. Some characters are more tightly regulated than others. Ian feels he is given more leeway to be interpretive of Sonic and Eggman than Shadow or Gemerl. The comic stays true to the canon of the games, so if he does something now he may not be able to do it in the future.
  26.
  27. Q:will we ever see sonic mega drive overdrive or is it lost to time?
  28. Ian doesn't want to say never, but don't hold your breath.
  29.
  30. Q:why is Charmy’s boot infected with the Metal Virus? Wasn’t it stated that it can only affect living/organic beings?
  31. The splash damage ability of the zombots is something Ian wants to address later on so stay tuned for that.
  32.
  33. Q:The TSR manual says Zavok is the former leader of the Deadly Six, do you know why? Are the other Zeti… dead and off-limits to the comics?
  34. No. Ian was also surprised when he read that info because when he was talking about their use with Sega (as hinted in the last issue), none of that ever came up. *shrug*
  35.
  36. Q:you thought to change visual clothes of Amy rose and every edition comic, could bring Amy Boom's outfit next comic edition
  37. Ian believes Amy's Boom design is exclusive to Boom only.
  38.
  39. Q:If Archie and IDW were to work something out and say that you could continue from where the Archie continuity left off, would you still do the metal virus saga that was supposed to happen in that canon? Or would yo rework it?
  40. It would depend on where that dropped during season 2.
  41.
  42. Q:I'm a bit confused, at the end of IDW Sonic #8 Amy and Knuckles state that the Master Emerald had been hidden, but in #7 it can be seen glowing from the distance (plus Neo seems to have no trouble finding it). How had it been hidden?
  43. That was a bit of a hiccup because Ian had assumed things would have been different but then Sega came in and said "No, this is how it is now." but the work was already done so, whoops.
  44.
  45. Q:Is Sunset City based on the same city that the Resistance use a base from Sonic Forces?
  46. Kinda sorta, it's just based on the city motif from that game.
  47.
  48. Q:What was your reaction after see the criticism and thoughts of the fans after sonic idw issue 19?
  49. They're not completely wrong. Ian was alittle amused by the fan discourse that came of it over what is Shadow's correct characterization, a consequence he feels come from Shadow being inconsistent in the games. He wishes they could just do what they did in the old days but that's not where Sega wants his character to be right now.
  50.
  51. Q:what do you think was Gerald Robotnik's requested last meal?
  52. Revenge, served cold. Ian doesn't think he would have been in a mindset to request anything since he was a babbling nutjob at that point. Besides from that, fishsticks.
  53.
  54. Q:Will we see more fallout over Sonic's decision to let both Eggman and Metal go free? Shadow already berates him for making that decision. Would love to see Sonic wrestle with making a nearly world-ending mistake after this arc.
  55. All Ian can say is keep reading, no spoilers.
  56.
  57. Q:I have a strange question that popped into my head...Does sonic really pay taxes on anything?
  58. No, because apparently there is no such thing as money on Sonic's world. Yes really, that was what he was told.
  59.
  60. Q:23. Sticks the Badger: I'm kinda scared, am I off limits too in the comics? Since Boom is over, Sega doesn't seem to care anymore, so I wouldn't be surprised. :(
  61. Sorry Sticks but Ian thought you would be a shoe-in. The last few times he tried to pitch for her, he was turned down. Ian doesn't think she's off-off limits, it's weird. He hasn't succeeded so far so he doesn't know.
  62.
  63. Q:So Ian why do you keep tearing Metal Sonic away from his girlfriends? First you split Shard and Nicole then Neo and Breezy. Robots need love too!
  64. It's not Ian's fault, his continuities keep getting ripped away from him.
  65.
  66. Q:Are Sally and Nicole in love with each other?
  67. Where they left off in Archie, no not yet. Nicole had just gained new feelings for Sally that she would begin to understand and realize. Sally hadn't begun to see Nicole in that way just yet. They had planted the seeds but then the book ended.
  68.
  69. Q:The IDW Sonic series takes place one month after Sonic Forces, is the custom character in the IDW Series just the Wolf character made for the game or something else?
  70. They exist in the world, but we're never going to see them. They're so ill-defined and there are some many presets from the advertising from the games (wolf, bird, cat). They were also specifically told to use a bear in the prequel comics. Plus people probably got attached to their Avatar characters, so it might be disappointing if they use a different one.
  71.
  72. Q:how big is the IDW/Archie Sonic multiverse, does it follow Many Worlds Interpretation/Quantum Mechanics Or is it something beyond that or it’s own thing?
  73. Pre-reboot Archie's multiverse is completely different from the reboot's. IDW's follows the games' multiverse.
  74.
  75. Q:So Neo Metal Sonic, a robot, was able to go super in the IDW comic, despite Iizuka saying only male hedgehogs can go super. First off, how did you convince SEGA otherwise? Second, does that mean Omega, who is also a robot, can also theoretically go super?
  76. Ian based it off on Mecha Sonic going temporarily super in the final boss fight of Knuckles' campaign in Sonic&Knuckles. That was his reasoning and he was met with no resistance on that. Ian doesn't know if other robots can go super, it's something they might pursue in the future.
  77.
  78. Q:If Sonic goes off world... is it still his world? Or is it a moot point and he like owns the deed?
  79. *laughs* Ian likes that idea that Sonic goes off world and a giant signpost rises in the north pole and flips over to Eggman's face.
  80.
  81. Q:I'm really sorry if you've already answered this before, but... Would you happen to know Infinite's approximate age? Also, is he related to the Jackal Squad or just the same species of Jackal? I believe ABT stated that it wasn't in the details of the script.
  82. Ian doesn't have any of those details himself. Ian assumes he would fall in the typical 15-20 range for Sonic characters. Asode from being the Jackals' leader, Ian has no idea.
  83.
  84. Q:Is the Solaris from the Archie comics the same one from Sonic 06? And if so does SEGA approve it?
  85. Yes
  86.
  87. Q:Will you ever return to the slow burn style of storytelling?
  88. Not for Sonic, he thinks. Sonic at it's essence is an action property. For IDW he wants to approach it more faster paced and action oriented. Maybe he'll switch gears later.
  89.
  90. Q:quick question about whisper: i've noticed that she has six canisters for her wisps but she only has 5 wisps, so will we ever see her with a sixth one?
  91. Possibly maybe. The wisps she has with her now are specific for a reason, and you'll find out why in T&W 3 in October.
  92.
  93. Q:I have a question; would you ever be open to writing any of the Sonic games? They need some form of energy injected into them after the lethargic Sonic Forces and I think you can do it.
  94. All Sega would have to do is ask. Ian would love to, but keep in mind that he probably wouldn't have the same creative influence as the comics.
  95.
  96. Q:How come Sega said that Sonic's Planet ain't called Mobius Anymore? And that non of the like Sonic & Eggman/Robotnik can't have Family Members anymore.
  97. Ian doesn't know. SoJ really took the wheel back from all other divisions of Sega when Sonic Adventure came out and Yuji Naka pushed his vision for the series which killed off the Western orientation of the series. It might also come from some abusing the leniency at the time.
  98.
  99. Q:Will we see Super Sonic in season 2 and Will we get a Shadow centered story anytime soon? also, what is Whisper the wolf's favorite food because I know you said strawberries was Tangle's.
  100. Not going to spoil anything for season 2. As for Whisper, while it's not set in stone he says it's pound cake.
  101.
  102. Q:Speaking of the horrible two worlds retcon, is the Chaos Emeralds more of a Earth (human world) thing? They seem to heavily be tied to Earth's supernatural stuff (Gaias) and even the Knuckles Tribe, the Mystic Ruins and Angel Island which would normally be a Sonic's world type of deal seems to be on Earth instead.
  103. Ian has grappled with that question alot himself. The best he can come up with is that the chaos emeralds are chaotic by nature and hop between worlds randomly.
  104.
  105. Q:Hey Ian, how much do I need to pay you to make a tunicate or dendrogaster sonic character?
  106. They are barely an animal so Ian is not sure about that.
  107.
  108. Q:While I know it sort of falls in the "will x character appear in the comic?" bin. I was wondering: With the comic taking inspiration from Sonic Forces is there the possibility of exploring the fate of Infinite's old Jackal Squad from Episode Shadow/Prequel Comics? I feel their concept was heavily underutilized and one could create interesting thing by expanding on their fate.
  109. As far as Ian knows they're dead. The dialogue in the DLC just says they were "destroyed", and that can be interpreted differently but the implication he got was that they died and that's why Infinite got so angry at Shadow. He's pretty sure they and Infinite are off the table for the foreseeable future though.
  110.
  111. Q:If Neo Metal Sonic assumed the guise of Eggman to ensure that his rule go uninterrupted, why didn't he reveal himself in the guise of Eggman sooner? He couldn't have been waiting to recover the real Eggman, since he could just handed control back to him at that point. Was it just a convenient plot device to create mystery and intrigue (which it did!) or did he have other motivations such as being afraid that someone else would find the real Eggman first and call his bluff?
  112. Ian is not sure what is being asked here. Neo didn't reveal his disguise because he had a reason to, he only dropped it in front of Sonic cause he figured it out.
  113.
  114. Q:as Fans what is your favorite Comic Trope that rarely shows up in books
  115. Ian likes the page turning for a splash page of a reveal of something. It has to be paced correctly and with only 20 pages that can be difficult.
  116.
  117. Q:When will bunny rabbot show up
  118. She's not going to, atleast for the foreseeable future.
  119.
  120. Q:If Sega and IDW started to interesting into Archie/Mobius universe, would you like to continue and conclude some unclosed arcs, especially pre-reboot universe?
  121. Ian would love to tell the stories he didn't get to tell, but he's also not going to get too hung up cause that's probably not going to ever happen.
  122.
  123. Q:On an unrelated note. Would it be fun if the public becomes afraid of GUN? Three reasons on why. City Escape (collateral damage the truck left behind), Dry Lagoon (animal cruelty), and an army of robots at their disposal. We all remember what led to the Sokovia Accords.
  124. Ian feels like GUN as an establishment is so large and well funded, that the public is aware of them and atleast accepting of them.
  125.
  126. Q:If Starline and Dixon decided to have a homosexual relationship with Starline ditching Eggman would it last?
  127. Who's Dixon? Starline and Eggman aren't in a relationship anyway.
  128.
  129. Q:Is Sonic ever gonna find out that him letting Metal Sonic go is what led to Eggman regaining his memories? Ngl, that part really bothered me (Sonic freeing Metal I mean).
  130. It will be addressed, but Ian thinks people are not understanding that issue. Starline says that he is making progress on getting Eggman back to his old self, Metal Sonic just pushed him off the edge faster.
  131.
  132. Q:Had Archie Sonic continued, if you were to have made Team Hooligan (Maybe just Bark and Bean) go a redemption arc to be more in line with their game counterparts with them being one of Sonic’s friends. You could’ve called said arc. Hooligans to Heroes
  133. Please don't send in fan ideas because Ian would not be able to use them after the fact. As for Bean and Bark, they didn't really have an original characterization and as of Sonic Mania they seem to be following the Hooligans characterization.
  134.
  135. Q:Do you plan on having a scene where only Silver and Blaze work together or have a conversation about their separate lives?
  136. This has already happened in the annual.
  137.
  138. Q:Did you ever consider hinting at or possibly even confirming Sonadow in the comics? Or do you ship them or any other gay ship in sonic personally?
  139. There is no way Ian could get away with Sonadow in an official capacity. He wouldn't even need to try since fans interpret everything as shipbait anyway like Sonic and Shadow's moral confrontation. Ian doesn't gayship any of the canon characters. Ian assumes they could do it with OCs but he's so weary of shipping wars. Maybe they'll introduce a couple in the future, he's not opposed to it.
  140.
  141. Q:How do I submit a portfolio to IDW?
  142. There is no direct route, Ian thinks they shut down their submissions email. If you go to his website and go to the FAQ there is a general guide on how to prepare and submit a portfolio. Best bet is to contact an IDW editor.
  143.
  144. Q:If the pre reboot sonic comic continued would Geoffrey have been redeemed and become a good guy again or would he have stayed a villain?
  145. Lost Hedgehog Tales
  146.
  147. Q:When it comes to your unused plans with Hershey the Cat/St. John, how did you write her personality when you were improving on her characterization? Did you picture her as kind to others and confident in battle, and what else was there?
  148. Lost Hedgehog Tales, but when approaching her and where they were going with her Ian's question was Geoffrey has been a major stabilizing part of her life and while she's away living a life he more or less groomed her for she finds out he's been lying to her and everyone about everything. How would she react to that? The answer is not too positively.
  149.
  150. Q:Importink Question: Which't Somic charakers do or do not eat they's spinach?
  151. Knuckles does. Cream is a good girl so she clears her plate before dessert. Mighty does. Tails does. Eggman does. Sonic and Amy do not. There have been fights in the Chaotix household to get Charmy to eat his, Espio insists and Vector agrees while quietly hiding his own. Tangle doesn't. Whisper does.
  152.
  153. Q:How closely do collaborate with Sega employees while working on the IDW Sonic comics, and do you ever get the opportunity to ask them about loose ends or other mysteries from the game-verse? Such that if you wanted to address loose ends from the games in the comics you could, even if they are two separate canons?
  154. Ian doesn't usually work too directly with Sega. He sends his stuff to the IDW editors who then send it to Sega for approvals and back and forth. He has had opportunities to ask some questions directly to Iizuka and he has gotten some interesting answers. As for directly addressing those, it's not really on the table right now. For reasons.
  155.
  156. Q:The soul in Archie Sonic (PreGen) is the very thoughts, personality and vital force of being, which is above the physical world, something similar to the Theory of Plato's tripartite soul?
  157. Ian doesn't think that is applicable to Sonic in that context.
  158.
  159. Q:Does IDW have any plans to do a Sonic X comic book? I know Sega is unusually picky with that show but I think the fans deserve some closure after the big cliffhanger at the end of season 3. It’s the best Sonic series and deserves to be brought back.
  160. No, Sonic X and other old spin-off cartoons are off the table.
  161.
  162. Q:was the Metal Virus that's in IDW's Sonic comic going to be Eggman's new Roboticizer?
  163. Yes
  164.
  165. Q:there's a chance Sonic and Amy stay together in the future
  166. That is up to Sega. Ian has no say or horse on that.
  167.
  168. Q:Why did they (Archie, Capcom?) sh*tcan the Megaman comic? You did such an incredible job and you were building it into a true world not just VG stories?
  169. Ian doesn't know. He heard certain rumors, but nothing concrete. He was just told to leave it open ended. He knows there are people in certain places of authority who do want it back, so there is still hope.
  170.
  171. Q:Do you have something planned for tangle and whisper, like a big story in mind for them besides the 4 part comic? (not depending if you guys get the chance to make another comic about them). Can we consider them a team just as sonic and tails are?
  172. No immediate plans for a big Tangle/Whisper arc. How well the miniseries does might affect that. Ian doesn't want to call them a team because he doesn't want them to be attached forever. They weren't meant to be a duo but their own individual characters who work great with each other.
  173.
  174. Q:Just read the first issue of Tangle & Whisper and it was a entertaining read. Gotta say though, I was surprised that OCs got their own mini-series, especially so early in the comic's life. Did you float the idea to IDW after you saw how popular they got or was it the other way around and they approached you to write one? Any plans for future mini-serieses featuring different characters?
  175. IDW was the one that asked for a pitch. Ian never dreamed he would have got one in the first year. Fan reception is what drove the decision. It has gotten Ian brave enough to pitch another mini-series, but it's still too early to talk about it. More love for these books means more opportunities.
  176.
  177. Q:I am here to ask about my favorite character, Amy Rose. One of the things that confuses me is the power range she is able to have. Besides her piko piko hammer, in Sonic CD she has the ability of reading tarot cards, predicting the future, and turn invisible and many other weird things. I am sure these powers were just products of their games and comics BUT I was wondering, does Amy have some secret powers that she hides from everybody or some powers that she doesn't even realize she has?
  178. Ian wishes there was an explanation for her bag of magic tricks but he doesn't think there is. He would love to explain them away and to showcase them. He doesn't know if he will get a chance to tackle them, fingers crossed.
  179.
  180. Q:hey, i am a big Scourge fan, can you tell me if there was a plan for Scourge after Lock Down and if there was, what was it? also, were Scourge and Fiona truly in love or were they using each other?
  181. Lost Hedgehog Tales. As for their relationship, it was complicated. Did they love each other like Sonic and Sally? No, nothing that pure an simple. It was more of a co-dependence. One of the things that would have to be addressed eventually was that Fiona was in an unhealthy relationship with Scourge. He facilitated and emboldened her negative attributes and it allowed her to act out in unhealthy ways. Scourge is a massive egotist so anyone who showed him any fealty, either companionship or being a toadie, he would embrace because he enjoys feeling important and wanted. So they were using each other, but Fiona was on the worst and most dangerous end of the deal since she needed him more than he needed her. It was not a healthy love.
  182.
  183. Q:Is the entirety of the Game continuity a zone in Post-SGW Archie Sonic? And if so, is it a copy of the game continuity or the actual real game continuity?
  184. In Vol. 1 Archie, zones were pocket dimensions. In Vol. 2, they more regions on the map. Roughly they happened chronologically and how they did in the games, with the FFs maybe getting involved here or there.
  185.
  186. Q:Has it occurred to you that the Sonic movie might be a prequel to Sonic 1? The evidence that points to this includes the fact that Dr. Robotnik has no idea who Sonic is, and Sonic says “Basically I’m here to save your planet”. This backs up the two worlds statement. Also, it looks as though Tyson is working on the redesign. Thoughts on that?
  187. Ian knows some things but isn't sure he should know so he's passing.
  188.
  189. Q:Ian, if I give you a signed legal contract saying I give you full rights to everything, and will accept nothing in return, will you listen to my 6 hour long Sonic OC character/Young Adult Romance novel audio book?
  190. Technically speaking, yes if you went through all that trouble.
  191.
  192. Q:Since IDW And Marvel are working together do you foresee any alternative reality Crossover event?
  193. Ian doesn't know, maybe.
  194.
  195. Q:Were you satisfied with the lineup of the Eggy Six?(from Sonic Forces)
  196. With who was included, yes. With how they were used, not so much.
  197.
  198. Q:Wouldn't you like to work at Sonic Team to write the stories for the Sonic games?(A.k.a the main canon series).
  199. Yep
  200.
  201. Q:How long is the average Mobian lifespan?
  202. Comparable to human lifespan
  203.
  204. Q:Why was Sally so angry at Fiona in “Journey to the East” (aside from the obvious team betrayal)?
  205. The fact that she manipulated and crushed Tails who she is very protective and maternal of.
  206.
  207. Q:Obviously there is an element of maintaining an income here, but did you have a plan for a general issue number you would have wanted to end the original series at?
  208. There was never an intention to end the series.
  209.
  210. Q:Am I correct in thinking that one of the ambitions of the book, as a whole, was to see this one-dimensional children’s icon (like Mario, sublime for his one-dimensional nature) grow up and mature naturally?
  211. No, because he is a mascot character and can not mature and change over time. Sonic could learn lessons and learn the world but he can not develop beyond a certain point. He must always be Sonicy.
  212.
  213. Q:Don’t you think the idea of Sonic and Sally just starting a family in their early 40’s is a bit....creepy?
  214. Not at all. People come together at all different points in their lives.
  215.
  216. Q:Ian, do you respect the Freedom Fighters and have you actually cared about them?
  217. Yes.
  218.
  219. Q:Ian, have you ever read SonAmy fan-fiction online and what do you think of that stuff in general?
  220. No, he avoids those in all forms for legal reasons. If people like and want to do things for it, have fun.
  221.
  222. Q:Ian, do you like the idea of the Silver x Blaze ship?
  223. He can see the appeal of it, but he feels they're more sibling oriented. She's more of a mentor to him. Ian feels like Silver is too naive to see her in that way.
  224.
  225. Q:Did Sonic Riders happen in the IDW Sonic continuity, Ian?
  226. Yes, more or less.
  227.
  228. Q:Who is worse, Thanos or Enerjak?
  229. Thanos
  230.
  231. Q:With Sonic Generation having Classic Sonic thrown into the future at the end of Sonic 2, was the original ending of Sonic 2 overwritten by the effects of time travel? Is there now a parallel timeline/universe where Sonic Generations didn't happen and Sonic 2 played out normally? Any other tidbits of how time works in this new reality? Is it the same as it always has been?
  232. *shrug* He doesn't know.
  233.
  234. Q:You mentioned that you imagine the characters from the antiverse (or whatever Moebius was considered) would have the same voices as their Prime Zone counterparts, so does that mean that Smalls the Cat was indeed the Moebian counterpart to Big?
  235. Yes, Smalls was Anti-Big so the voice would be the same.
  236.
  237. Q:A simple question: Was the Oil Ocean Refinery from the Sand Blast City/Matilda/Beauregard Rabbot arc the Oil Ocean Zone?
  238. Yes.
  239.
  240. Q:What would the Moebian Ivo Kinbtobor sound like? Jim Cumming's normal voice?
  241. A softer, gentler Mike Pollock. Or Jim Cummings' Whinny the Pooh voice.
  242.
  243. Q:When do the Sonic 2 8-bit adaptation and Tails' Sky Patrol adaptation take place in relation to the games? How about Knuckles Chaotix and Sonic R? Would the later Archie canon games be placed chronologically in release order? For example, Sonic Rush -> Sonic 06 -> Sonic Rivals -> Sonic Rush Adventure, etc.
  244. He doesn't know. He's pretty sure Chaotix doesn't count anymore. There was a time he wanted to figure out the chronology but some it can't be solved and it doesn't really matter to the overall narrative.
  245.
  246. Q:So in the comic universe, Sonic 4 takes place sometime after Sonic Heroes instead of between Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic Adventure?
  247. Thinks it must be after Sonic 3 but before Adventure, but he honestly doesn't know.
  248.
  249. Q:If the games take place on two worlds, how does random child know about Angel Island and Little Planet?
  250. Ian doesn't know what child they're referring to, but since Angel Island just floats through the sky and Little Planet just pops into existence that there are legends that spread. How they spread, he doesn't know.

  252. Q:So this is something I have always wondered in regards to Sonic speed. Does his speed works in the same way as The Flash or does it just make him fast? So what I mean by this is if when running, does time slow seem to slow down from his point of view? Does his speed help him think faster then a normal mobian/human does? Does he have accelerate healing because of his speed similar to how Flash have that power? Things like that.
  253. That's too comic booky for Sonic. Ian feels he's more rule of cool and that he's just fast. That's too much logic and real world physics.

  255. Q:Are we eventually gonna get downtime between big arcs for IDW, where stuff gets a bit more episodic for a while to let things breathe? We did so back in archie a few times (like issues 213-218 between the Iron Dominion arc and the start of the King Naugus/buildup to genesis stuff, and the sadly mostly cancelled stretch of issues from 288 to whenever the build up to 300 woulda started) but not always (like how we went straight from the King Scourge stuff straight into the buildup to 200). Some episodic stuff basically, maybe with some stuff from other writers (likely a decision in editorial's hands rather than yours). I'm not asking you to confirm specifically "yeah we are/aren't having downtime between the metal virus saga and the next big arc", just if the general idea of "downtime being a thing that could happen between arcs" is possibly on the table.
  256. It's too early to say between seasons 2 and 3. Ian's approach to IDW is more streamlined, more action oriented so it's not just Archie 3.0. That being said there have been positive reception to the more slower, character driven moments like in Tangle&Whisper arc. So maybe he can adjust things later down the line, but right his main focus is to make the book distinctly an IDW Sonic book.

  258. Q:If you can reinvent sonic in a different kind of game style like Open World to MMO, what would you guys would do?
  259. A Shadow Sin and Punishment-style speed-oriented rail shooter with a couple of divergent paths. Change weaponry to wispons. A chaos meter to use chaos abilities. Maybe 20 hour game, $30 bucks on Steam. Ian really wants a Tales style of Sonic RPG, specifically Abyss/Vesperia(?) style battle system. Also Metroidvania Knuckles game and Chao collecting game.

  261. Q:It was announced that you and Adam Bryce Thomas were working together on a little project called Drogune a little while back and it would have a Winter 2019 launch. Is it still on track?
  262. Might be tail end of winter. They're plugging away at things, some are completed, website prototype is done. Ian is excited to have something that is 100% his. No editors, no licensors, just him. Stay tuned.

  264. Q:Hi, Ian and Kyle! Congratulations on 100 episodes of the Bumblekast! I'd just like to thank you for all the hours of entertainment you've provided us with over the last few years, and I hope you get to do another 100 episodes! In celebration of your 100th episode, I thought it might be fun if you revealed your deepest, darkest secrets...it's probably not as deep and dark as whatever the first thing that came to your mind was, but oh well! Last episode, Kyle talked briefly about a couple of the Sonic games he'd never played. But I was wondering which Sonic games you guys have played but never been able to complete. This doesn't necessarily mean 100% completion - if you haven't got all the red star rings or whatever I don't think that matters so much. But in which games have you not completed the story mode or defeated the final boss? There are a couple for me, but the main one is Sonic and the Secret Rings. The leveling up system in that game was so tedious that I just couldn't be bothered doing it enough to be able to handle the final bosses. I haven't finished Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed yet, but I do intend to go back to that one. Oh, and Sonic 2 for the Master System used to be on this list, but I finally managed to beat it in 2015. It took me over 20 years to master those hang gliders in the Sky High Zone!
