  1. Her best guess (and for Bonesaw, ‘best guess’ was just about always a one-hundred-percent accurate diagnosis) was that an earlier implant had ruptured against the exoskeleton and flooded Kumonga’s brain with something very, very nasty. Judging by the way Danny had laid into Kumonga’s head, the hypothesis tracked, and Bonesaw had a bad feeling it was the flesh-eating virus she’d added in one of the early rounds to prevent anyone from diving into the monster’s head in search of his brain. She’d had her concerns then (and a scare or two when Kumonga had taken similar hard blows to the head) but now it seems her fears had been realized.

  5. Bonesaw fished through her bag and offered Yellow a small bottle of what appeared to be water. “Just take a quick sip.”

  7. Yellow eyed it with no small amount of skepticism- she was willing to help, but she wasn’t an idiot. Bonesaw sighed. “I get it. Biological tinkerer offering an unlabeled liquid. I’d be sketchy too, but think about it for a second. I’m basing my entire plan around your ability to heal, and I’m willing to bet you’ve never tried to heal something this big.” Bonesaw popped the top and took a hefty swig, then offered the bottle again. Within moments the solution made her senses sharpen, the colors of the world growing more saturated as her mind bristled at the surge of growing energy. “Just a sip. It’ll help you focus, keep you from getting tired.”

  9. Yellow seemed nervous, but when Bonesaw didn’t immediately cough up blood, she relented, taking a quick, tentative sip. Her eyes went wide when she felt the same effect, and Bonesaw smiled softly. “Let’s un-smash a bug.”

  13. She watched Yellow carefully, standing near Kumonga’s gigantic neck with one hand extended, channeling her power. The moment she had begun healing, the spider’s frantic twitching had stopped completely.
