-
MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: 2.0
- My mission for MFTEOTW, once I started releasing it to the public, was to make it the ultimate True Music mod. Never could I have imagined it growing this big, though! Welcome to a new era of enjoying those sweet, sweet tunes with the 2.0 update, introducing a big suite of new features, bug fixes, optimization and tweaks, including a feature that people have oft clamored for. That's right...
-
The Apocalypse Reanimated the Radio Star
- Implemented Radio at the End of the World. This system allows vanilla radios to play music from one of up to 10 stations; 8 default, 1 Easter Egg station, 1 for the Silent Hill pack. Almost all of the music in MFTEOTW has been sorted into each of these stations, and one station exists that plays completely random music. Stations also come with hosts to transition songs with dialogue, and hosts will infrequently play longer segments giving some lore.
- To use this system, simply tune into the correct frequency using any in-game radio. It is compatible with car radios, hand held radios, radios on player belts with Keep That Radio On, and placed radios. It is compatible with multiplayer, with the small exception that if you tune into a station that someone else was listening to at the same time, your first song may skip (as there's no way to start a sound partway through). This system is highly customizable with sandbox settings, and is designed to be expandable! Want to make your own radio stations, or add tracks to the existing ones? Then head over this way for a guide!
-
Better Loot Systems
- Majorly extended MFTEOTW's loot system, making it automatically integrate other True Music mods. MFTEOTW's loot system is now completely compatible with 99% of all other True Music mods. It will automatically detect other True Music mod items, remove them from the loot table and reintroduce them using its own spawning logic. This means that no matter how many True Music mods you have active, the spawns will remain consistent and stable without flooding containers. There may be some edge cases where this can cause issues; there are sandbox settings that will either restrict MFTEOTW's loot system to only its own packs, or exempt specific mods from the system.
-
New Faces
- Implemented Special Guests, a new feature introducing 15 unique new zombies. These zombies require a lot of cosmetic mods to appear, listed in this collection. Each zombie carries a set playlist of cassettes, with each MFTEOTW pack/expansion you have enabled generally adding one extra song to each playlist. They also carry some loot, with each one having unique items and some having unique reskins of clothes from other mods. This system and the loot it adds to the world is highly customizable.
- In addition to Special Guests, a new kind of zombie can appear even without those cosmetic mods: the Music Maniac! These very rare zombies are guaranteed to be carrying a Hoard of Cassettes, as well as 2-3 Stacks, and possibly even more...
-
New Features
- Added Music Collector. This is a new trait. It costs 2 points, and by default it gives your character a 33% chance to find an extra music item in any container they check that can spawn those items, as well as an extra 8% chance to find a loot box in containers that can spawn them.
- Added the Cassette Bag. This is a rare and special fanny pack that can only contain cassettes (and dance cards if you have True Actions: Dancing enabled), but weighs little and has a lot of capacity. If you're willing to sacrifice one of your Fanny Pack slots, you can carry (almost) as much music as you want.
- Also added the Blank Cassette. This is an uncommon kind of cassette (it has the same drop rate as all others, but also drops somewhat often in electronics stores) which can be used with a Boombox to copy any cassette once, being turned permanently into that cassette.
- Finally, The Motherlode! This is a higher tier of cassette hoard. Under default Sandbox settings, it contains 150 cassettes, a pair of earbuds, a Sany Wutman, a Boombox, a Cassette Bag, and 3 dance cards if True Actions: Dancing is enabled.
-
Song Replacements
- - Replaced Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You with The Eagles - One of These Nights because the original is now or was always in the base mod (TCCacheMP), so it's a duplicate.
- - Replaced Foreigner - I Want To Know What Love Is with Led Zeppelin - No Quarter for the same reason.
- - Replaced Cheap Trick - Out in the Street with The Whispers - And The Beat Goes On because the first song is not actually from before 1993.
- - Replaced Boots Randolph - Yakety Sax with The Eagles - Desperado because Yakety Sax is in the original mod (but only as a vinyl (but now it's both)).
- - Replaced Silent Hill track 'World of Madness' with an extended version of 'The Day of Night'.
-
Tweaks & Changes
- - MFTEOTW now 'fills out' the TCCacheMP songs, so any songs that appear on Cassette or Vinyl exclusively now appear on both.
- - Any 'placeholder' item used in MFTEOTW's spawning logic can always be 'used' to produce a random item so that any bug in the spawnign logic will never produce useless items. These items are now called "Bloody Cassette" for zombies and "Unidentified Cassette/Vinyl" for regular containers.
- - Hoards, Boxes, Stacks and Motherlodes will contain 3 random dance cards if you have True Actions: Dancing enabled.
- - Added sandbox settings dictating the weight and battery consumption of the Walkman.
- - Vanilla survivor/raider/punk zombies can now drop cassettes, even without Zed Drops on. If you have Undead Survivor enabled, all but the Amazona zombies will also drop 5-6 cassettes on death. Both of these can be enabled or disabled under MFTEOTW: Zombies.
- - Reduced default weight of all music items to 0.02 from 0.05/0.1, because this is their current weight in default True Music as of the recent patches.
- - Reduced drop-rate of 'easter egg' cassettes by a lot.
- - Made loot boxes slightly rarer.
-
Bug Fixes
- - Fixed zombie cassette spawning logic. It should now be much, much, much more consistent and functional.
- - Fixed the wrong version of Everytime We Touch being used.
- - Fixed Rich Girl being credited to "Daryl Hall & John Oates" instead of "Hall & Oates" like the rest of the H&O songs.
- - Fixed MF DOOM being credited as MF Doom in one track.
- - Fixed some sandbox translation file errors.
- - Fixed Wouldn't It Be Nice missing an apostraphe.
- - Removed vestigial Home Labelled branch from the main mod.
-
More Music!
- Released the MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: ENCORE expansion, which comes with a total of 155 new songs; 110 are from 1993 or before, 35 are from between 1994-2004, and 10 are from Silent Hill, following the pattern of the main mod. Its songs are automatically mixed into the existing stations if you have this pack enabled.
- Also released is MFTEOTW: Songs from the Fog, an expansion done for the Miazma RP server. It contains 110 requests from community members for that server, but it is freely available for public consumption and also integrates into the existing stations.
- - Added 10 new tracks to the separate (and highly recommended ;3c) Home Labelled mod:
- The Dead Pirates - Ugo
- Second Person - The Wishbone

- Death Grips - Beware
- Radiation City - Find It of Use
- KALEO - Can't Go On Without You
- Radiohead - Reckoner
