  11.
  12. 1) Budget
  13. Mechanical keyboards aren't cheap. Stock prices start at around 70$ for cheaper boards (40$ if you want knockoff switches like Kailh) and can reach over 250$. If you live in Europe add ~30$ to the price (+ possible customs and shipping costs).
  14.
  15. 2) Location
  16. Availability of keyboards varies amongst continents, the same as purchase possibilities.
  17.
  18. 3) Preffered switch type
  19. There are plenty of switch guides and comparisons, google them. If you're not sure about a certain switch at least specify if you want tacticle or linear, clicky or silent and hard or soft.
  20.
  21. 4) Layout
  22. Mostly ISO or ANSI. Be ready that there is bigger choice of ANSI.
  23.
  24. 5) Form factor
  25. Specifies the amount of keys your keyboard will have:
  26. - 100% - full keyboard with function keys, navigation section and numpad,
  27. - 80% or TKL (tenkeyless) - usually without numpad, but there are also keyboards without arrows instead,
  28. - 60% - no numpad, no function keys, no navigation keys,
  29. - 65-75% - different variations of previously described.
  30.
  31. 6) Backlight
  32. Do you want leds.
  33.
  34. 7) Previous/current keyboard
  35. This can help us if for any you used any kind of mechanical keyboard and want something similar OR exactly opposite.
