As a reporter, I come across strange things sometimes, including: murders, rapes, and arson. Sometimes, something a little stranger would come to my attention in this small wooded town. The police were calling this one case 1f167, or (as we knew it), The Tannery. We asked around to see what people knew about the subject however, no one knew anything. It seemed to be a lost cause until we looked around the crowd hoping for someone to give us some sort of information. When a large thin man with beady eyes announced himself as (how he put it),'' “an expert of the matter."'' This is a recording of what he could tell us on the subject…

Have you ever been hiking when suddenly your friend disappears? Luckily for him and for you, he probably just tripped, or stopped to tie his shoes. But on the odd case, his sudden vanishing was followed by the absence of shouts for help or the coarse screams of those fearful of being alone; I suggest you run. Run fast and run far, far away. For if his skin is not of the most pristine quality, then'' “It”'' may very well come back for yours.

This is not a tale of some forest dwelling psychopath, for that would impose the question: “Must a Being be a Human in order to be a psychopath?”

But, I digress. This “Being” we’ll call it has a need for human skin, and a lot of it. What for will be left to the imagination, but only that it would abduct anyone foolish enough to find themselves in its domain, separated from a group. A straggling child could become a nice new pair of boots or gloves, or even a lampshade if need be. Snatched away and taken back to its grotto already padded with hundreds of pounds of human skin.

Upon first arrival one would notice the stench of feces and chemicals the being would use to tan the'' “hides”'' of his victims to obtain a more malleable and useful state; Then they’d notice the current prisoners, if any, appendages skinned, partially bandaged at the most vital arteries in order to retain their vitality through the entire skinning process.

This elaborate, yet perfected procedure was often initiated with a circular incision running the outside of the shoulder. The being would then place his hands inside then would peel the skin away slowly and carefully, like a doctor removing gauze from a major wound. The ''“patient”'' would not be restrained but would sit perfectly still as though paralyzed by its very stare.

The being would only collect one appendages length of skin at a time so the'' “patients” ''pain, would be drawn out as the screams seemed to give the being a sort of pleasure. Once all of the skin was stripped, it would be placed into the pit of tanning chemicals and feces. The'' “patient’s” ''neck would be snapped if they were not already dead, and their bodies disposed of in the forest.

The man then shivered a bit, hunching in his light leather shirt and pants and said, “I best get going. With the first frost coming I’m going to need someone a bit warmer”.

And as he strolled away whistling, we could only hope he just had a sick sense of humor…
