Based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham, "The Firm" is a new drama series that continues the story of attorney Mitchell McDeere who, as a young associate 10 years earlier, had brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, which had been operating as a front for the Chicago mob. After a difficult decade, which included a stay in the Federal Witness Protection Program, McDeere and his family now emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future -- only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere.
Defense Attorney Mitch McDeere is targeted for execution by the Chicago Mob in retaliation for bringing down a profitable Mob-operated Memphis law firm ten years earlier.
Sorry, but this is not good television. I wouldn't watch this one again if it were redubbed with Monty Python's silly accents and a John Williams score. They would not be the cure for this soft sleepy snorefest where my hopes for suspense and cleverness were dashed by a reality-suckled and stalled passenger train headed toward diminished expectations. The hopefull term for this vision of a courtroom drama would be "potboiler." But this is a stone soup where only the ducks with the root vegetables brought anything. Yes, the actors are interesting actors, from interesting shows and films. But they don't say or do interesting things here. Mitch McDeer loses his identity to pull the story together, when his identity (not merely his intensity) is what is supposed to drive the story forward, pull you in, and find reflection in every other character. I just sat through the 2 hour opener, and -as a working guy- I feel like I have lost my precious evening: that golden time when the kids are in bed, and you are avoiding your laundry. The protagonist and his beloved family and friends have done the impossible...10 years ago, and now they are no longer interesting, despite seeming very nice and professional and kind to each other. This is Harry's Law without fun, making a pact (or association) with LA Law without sex, making a milk run out of a chase, and playing only the black keys on that piano that made you love the Tom Cruise movie. Some solid notes with no tune. You are led to believe something dynamic will happen because importance is implied in the casting, the characters' histories, and the pedigree of the concept -but that's just veneer. Only secondary characters eat red meat in this first story, the primaries are all just existing quite satisfied on an IV tube. They are ghosts. The Firm TV show has no pulse.
my opinion that its captivate me from the beginning and want to watch one after one episodes, i see one after one 4 -5 episode per day and now i'm here at ep.19 and i wait for the next, sorry i hear that was canceled, the good shows all are canceled..Josh Lucas alias Mitch McDeere its very good actor, and the others too. He and his brother Ray are also very good actors. My opinion that if you like Lie to ME, you will like this show too... The all episodes are very good. I like very much this show. I don't want to cancel this show but i supposed that already was canceled? Please let me know if this show have a chance to resurrection?
