Which languages (if any) have you mastered and what advice would you give to aspiring developers?
[b][url=http://www.hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=1871289]SlightlyNuclear:[/url][/b] I'm super fluent in PHP (despite my best efforts to move away from it). If you count the basic web languages, then obviously HTML and the likes. As you know, Clarky, I'm a giant fan of Bootstrap (not). Off the web, I'm partial to a little C# and VB although I'm still integrating myself into their functions. In terms of webdev, aspiring developers should take a long hard look at which language they want to learn and definitely weigh up the pros and cons of each. PHP is the main language used all over the web, but its syntax is disgusting, it's slow and just terrible so it's probably a good idea to move away from that. Some good alternatives (although I can't vouch for them) would definitely be RoR (Rails) and Python. Aspiring designers are a different calibre of people and they should really focus on current standards. If there's one piece of advice I can give, it's to not ever use Bootstrap in production - PureCSS is a fantastic alternative, plus it's really lightweight and modular!

I'm in love with the Laravel PHP framework and as a designer, it makes the development side of things so much easier. I recently broke away from a designer/developer partnership with my bud Charles after he started college and didn't have time for our projects. I was pretty much left in the dark until I found Laravel and it resparked my interest in learning PHP. After working with Charles for a fair few years, I subliminally know most of PHP's syntax and functions anyway, so going into Laravel was a breeze. Any budding developers should really check the framework out if they plan on using PHP for anything ;)
