- Can You Bypass the Login Requirement?
- There are no official ways to completely bypass the login requirement when switching out of S Mode, but there are a few potential workarounds or considerations:
- Use a Local Account Instead:
- You can use a local account instead of a Microsoft account for the activation. During the switch process, you’re prompted to log in. If you don't want to use a Microsoft account, you can opt to create a local account.
- Once in the process of switching from S Mode:
- When asked to sign in with a Microsoft account, look for an option like "Offline Account" or "Local Account". This would allow you to use Windows without linking to a Microsoft account, though it's still necessary to authenticate with a local or online method during the S Mode switch.
- Post-S Mode, Use Local Account:
- If you've already switched out of S Mode using a Microsoft account, you can then create a local account on the system and remove the Microsoft account from the settings afterward. This doesn’t avoid the need for credentials when exiting S Mode, but it provides flexibility after the switch.
- Steps to Switch Out of S Mode (Requires Credentials):
- If you’re ready to proceed with switching out of S Mode, here’s a general outline of how to do it:
- Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
- Navigate to Activation:
- Go to System > Activation.
- Look for the Switch to Windows 11 Home/Pro section, depending on your version.
- Switch Out of S Mode:
- Click Go to the Store link in the Switch out of S mode section.
- In the Microsoft Store, click Get.
- After this, you may be prompted to sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Finish the Process: Follow the on-screen prompts, and the system will switch to a full version of Windows 11, allowing you to install apps outside of the Microsoft Store.
- Once this is complete, you can choose to set up a local account or remove your Microsoft account if you prefer not to use it.
- Note: for most Python development tasks on modern systems, it’s a good idea to disable the PATH length limit.
