- Jump #129: Storm Hawks
- >Ten of Wands, reversed (Noble leadership restrained from transforming into tyranny.)
- >Age: 18
- >Location: Terra Blizzaris
- >Identity: Crystal Mage (-100)
- >Drawbacks: Murk Raiders (+300), Starling's Crusade (+500)
- Oh boy, now we're in another generic-feeling CGI cartoon. Oh well, whatever. Murk raiders... you know what, no, I'm just going to vaporize them when they show up, and only them, because screw the kid gloves when it comes to things like them. As far as Starling's crusade... well, we'll address that later.
- >An Ocean By Any Other Name (1100)
- I am buying this explicitly because it will be handy when I travel through other dimensions. Also the Warp. I know on its own it won't be enough for any of the more insane things, but it will help.
- >Weatherproofing (1000)
- Honestly, this is just a small thing, but such an important small thing. Keeping sand and salt from jamming my equipment, and adapting machines to function in unusual places... helpful.
- >Universal Adaptor (400)
- Mana to electricity? Heat to chi? EMC to Mantra? Efficiency is something I can work on later - being able to do it at ALL with technology is insanely useful. I'll make sure to save this as an adaptor to slap onto the bottomless power supplies I'll be producing in the future.
- >Desperate Casting (Free, Crystal Mage)
- Throwing raw magical energy sounds like a recipe for disaster. I'll make sure to have mana batteries at the ready so as to cause disasters when needed.
- >We Did The Mash (300, Crystal Mage)
- It was a crystal smash. I'm honestly less concerned about doing this on the fly as I am doing it intentionally.
- >The Binding (0, Crystal Mage)
- Binding with others, and everyone involved eventually having access to the totality of each other's powers... actually, what effect would this have when I bind with companions? And clones? Anyone know?
- I don't know that I want to get involved in the plot. This looks like the usual plucky heroes saving the day silliness that you see everywhere, so I'm just not going to get involved with them, otherwise it'll inevitably derail.
- You know what I AM going to do, though? Go to Starling and offer to freely help. And she's not even a villain! Plus it's not like I've got anything better to do.
- Well, let's roll some dice and see how lucky she gets.
- >:: Results [345, 250, 429, 80, 731] ::
- So she gets Stars and Stones from Dresden Files, Blood of Kings from Percy Jackson, If You Want A Job Done Right from Doom, Genetic Assimilation from Underword, and Is This The Face Of A Crazy Man from Stargate.
- Many of these fit her rather well, considering her purpose, and having Genetic Assimilation means it'll be easier for me to give her other powers. Stars and Stones will be insanely useful in this setting since there's magic. Not sure how much good Blood of Kings is going to do her, though, but no matter. Considering how many powers I can give her with a simple blood transfusion, I'd hope she'd at least hear me out... and I can use other means to grant her other powers permanently instead of having to rely on the local magic for them.
- I just have to make sure she also gets a couple of those perks that act as a morality compass, too, to keep her from going mad with power.
- Hopefully that will help her freely decide to give me the stolen powers back. Because if not, I'm not above reducing her to a helpless cinder, taking them by force, and simply fixing her afterward.
