  1. This is a list of ALL segment explanations, in case you were curious or missed a segment and wanted to know about it.
  2.
  3. The command to see the CURRENT segment being played is !current
  4.
  5. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  6.
  7. [Early Game]
  8.
  9. Segment 1: Map
  10.
  11. Resetting for a map with a closed river & an open spot to put my house right next to main street. Example image: https://prnt.sc/1170a41
  12.
  13.
  14. Segment 2: Town Setup
  15.
  16. I'm setting up tiles in a way so that villagers will not move in anywhere in the town except for 1 small area which I will use later. Tiles spaced 2 spots apart will work enough. In Welcome amiibo, they changed it so villagers can not move onto any tiles placed down so that's why this works.
  17.
  18.
  19. Segment 3: Island
  20.
  21. Grinding island until I get all island bugs/fish needed as well as about 500k bells for turnips later.
  22.
  23.
  24. Segment 4: Turnips 1
  25.
  26. Grinding other games until I find a good turnip spike (500 or more). Then I'll grind turnips until about 10 million bells to use for shop upgrades later.
  27.
  28.
  29. Segment 5: Unlock Shops
  30.
  31. Getting the shop upgrades/shops early on so I have them all unlocked for more items. Getting all of them except Katrina's shop.
  32.
  33.
  34. Segment 6: Bugs/Fish
  35.
  36. Catching all the bugs/fish. Not diving creatures since I'll do that later on.
  37.
  38. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  39.
  40. [Mid Game]
  41.
  42. Segment 1: 100,000,000 Bells
  43.
  44. Grinding turnips with the same game that had the turnip spike from before until 100 million bells (you need this for the bell badge). This will take about 6-8 hours.
  45.
  46.
  47. Segment 2: Desert Island Escape
  48.
  49. Have to clear all 10 levels on all 3 difficulties with beating the target score. Using pause strats to prevent most RNG. Read more about it here: https://pastebin.com/NUNjxj9b
  50.
  51. Contents of "Desert Island Escape Explanation"
  52.
  53. So how Desert Island Escape works is you get stranded on an island (3 people) and have a set amount of days to escape, collecting tools, food, and one of the 4 "key" items in order to escape. Those are the sail, and 3 pieces of logs to build the raft needed to escape. There's 3 difficulties, beginner, intermediate, and advanced, each with 10 levels each. In order to get all the items from Desert Island Escape, you must beat every level with the target score beaten. This all sounds pretty hard, but trust me, it's really easy if you know what you're doing.
  54.
  55. There's also different types of animals that have their own strengths and weaknesses but honestly, if you know about pause strats, the only ones that are going to be useful are Soft Footed and Hearty Traveler. There is one that either travels 0 spaces or 7 spaces based on an RNG wheel, but it's so annoying trying to get it right since the pause strats are not 100% consistent and they don't usually help you in a situation where the "slices" are smaller and not say, 1/3 instead.
  56.
  57. So what you can do is you can pause the game during the segments where there is an RNG wheel. These are all over the place. For fishing, shaking fruit, fighting enemies, etc. If you pause then unpause and mash A, I noticed that the wheel spins about 1/3 forwards from where you were on the pause screen. So for example, let's say we find a fruit tree. The RNG wheel has 2, 3, and 4 in that order. So after 2 comes 4, each 1/3 of the wheel. So all you do is pause at about the middle of "2", then unpause and mash A, you should land on "4" every single time. With this, it makes the game literally 10x easier and 100x easier to get the target score since now you can get as much fruit as you want pretty much.
  58.
  59. The strategy:
  60.
  61. - Tool priority is fishing rod, slingshot, net, shovel for beginner. For Intermediate and Advanced, do slingshot before fishing rod
  62. - At some point a net will be better to get than the fishing rod (probably about halfway through Intermediate) since they will be far more beehives than fishing spots and the net pretty much guarantees you get 5 portions of beehive assuming you do the pause strats correctly
  63.

  109. Segment 3: Puzzle League
  110.
  111. Have to clear Story Mode on both difficulties, score 10,000 on Score Attack & Garbage Attack, score 2,500 on Time Attack, and clear a 10 combo & 5 chain. Will most likely rage. lmao
  112.
  113.
  114. Segment 4: 5,000 Island Medals
  115.
  116. Doing the scavenger hunt tour as that nets the best medal to time ratio. Also using TownCap to screenshot the list of items needed for the tour since it's way faster than trying to memorize it. This badge will take about 16-18 hours.
  117.
  118.
  119. Segment 5: Villager Setup
  120.
  121. Getting at least one of each personality type and 10 villagers total. Then I'll work on building friendship with all of them. Also gonna be playing the tent camper game at some point to get tons of items. Will also do the first Bug Off event. Will be done with this segment at around the beginning of October in game time.
  122.
  123.
  124. Segment 6: Badges Hell
  125.
  126. So I'm grinding these badges: Dreamer, Town Visits, Visitors, Streetpassing, Bugs, and K.K. Songs while playing other games and grinding their shops to get tons of items. This entire segment is going to take around 60-70 hours. Strap in. Read more about it here: https://pastebin.com/9GZmjwYq

  130. Short FAQ:
  131.
  132. Q: How are you gonna get the 5,000 bug badge during this segment if you're playing the other games already?
  133.
  134. A: Well, it's a bit complicated. First thing's first, I'll most likely not get 5,000 bugs, more like maybe half of them if I'm lucky? But long story short, if I want to grind the visitors badge, the best way is to have 3 other games come visit me then end session and repeat. I want to grind 2 other games as well and that's a lot of battery usage total from all those 3DS's. Thankfully since I have 8 3DS's I can use total for grinding so I use the first 5, then swap out for the last 3 and use 1 of them to grind town visits which only needs 1 other 3DS to do the hosting. Then the last 2 can be used for grinding. All the while I have 2 other chargers I can use on the side so I'm charging 2 of the first 5 3DS's while grinding town visits. Then once those 3 3DS's die I can swap out for the first 2 charged 3DS's while charging 2 more so now I have 2 games to grind which is perfect. Next I'll switch to the Dreamer badge to grind while charging 2 more 3DS's. Now I have a loop going of 2 3DS's at a time to use between charged/dead. So now I'll do this until I get the 500 Dreams badge. Then I want to charge ALL the 3DS's I have so I figured the best way to do that is grind some bugs at the island while waiting for that THEN after all that I can loop back AROUND to the visitor badge, then the town visits when the 1st group of 5 3DS's dies again, then bugs to charge ALL 3DS's, and so on. This is done until I get close to 500 town visits/visitors since I'm still gonna be doing a little bit of town visiting and whatnot later on for Katie.
  135.
  136. And then streetpassing I'll just do whenever ig. lol
  137.
  138. (I swear that's gonna get turned into a copypasta lmfao)
  139.
  140. Q: Wait... grind streetpass? How does that work?
  141.
  142. A: Yeah, it sounds confusing at first, since Nintendo made it so you can only get a streetpass hit from each console 8 hours at a time, and since I have 8 other 3DS's I can streetpass, it would take at least 41 days to get 1,000 streetpass tags so yeah... not RTA viable. Thankfully however, there's a homebrew app that actually clears the MAC filter on your 3DS, which pretty much means it clears the need to wait 8 hours for a streetpass. So now it only takes about 8 hours of grinding to get 1,000 streetpass tags! Now you could argue whether or not this is legit or not, but it is allowed on the leaderboard and without it, this speedrun wouldn't be doable unless I wanted to spend even more money on more 3DS's than I already have so yeah no thanks. lol
  143.
  144. Q: What about K.K. Songs?
  145.
  146. A: For those I'll just grind up until the amount of K.K. songs remaining. So let's say I have 48 K.K. Songs, that means I can grind at least 52 K.K. Songs since I'll honestly have to listen to at least 25 or so K.K. Songs to get the rest of the K.K. Songs in the catalog because getting all of them from the shop is a pain.
  147.
  148.
  149. Segment 7: PWPs Hell
  150.
  151. Honestly this takes way too much explaining to put it all here, so just click this lol: https://pastebin.com/5hkW0Xax
  152.
  153. Contents of "PWPs Explanation for Segment 7 Mid Game ACNL 100%"
  154.
  155. TL;DR I'm playing 1 day at a time and talking to villagers/doing favors. Then I'll do the PWP (or "Public Works Project") exploit where if you're far away from your villagers while doing "stuff" (such as fishing/ocean stuff) for at least 5 minutes, the villagers will give you a ping. One of the pings can be a PWP request so it's just trial and error until you get one. Also having the inventory filled with "untradeable" items will prevent villagers from trying to buy something off of you/give you something.
  156.
  157. Short FAQ:
  158.
  159. Q: Why are there tiles/money on the beach??
  160.
  161. A: This is just so when I catch a fish I get the text "Oh well, guess I'll have to let it go." which is faster than having to press the option each time. Trust me, it will still save a lot of time regardless of the 10-15 min setup.
  162.
  163. Q: What's an untradeable item?
  164.
  165. A: Any item that villagers cannot buy off of you. This includes fruit baskets (not 100% sure on just fruit they might try to buy fruit off of you), tools, wetsuits, and some other misc things like ice cream, balloons, etc.
  166.
  167.
  168. Segment 8: Mid Game Cleanup
  169.
  170. From here on out I'll get all diving creatures, some event items, and that's about it. Much shorter segment than the previous ones. lol
  171.
  172. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  173.
  174. [Late Game]
  175.
  176. Segment 1: EU & KOR Items
  177.
  178. Pretty easy segment. Just getting the one EU item I can't get from RVs which is the Holiday Stocking. As well as 4 KOR items.
  179.
  180.
  181. Segment 2: HHD Items
  182.
  183. Have to start a new game on Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer so I can get the HHD items in the catalog.
  184.
  185.
  186. Segment 3: Katie
  187.
  188. YEP , Katie. Though it's not that bad. First I need to get Katie to spawn which will be done by doing local play everyday until she shows up. Then after that TT one day forward to get the reward, then a week forward on both games. Then go one day at a time until one of the games gets Katie (it's always the one Katie "went" to last), then the cycle repeats forever until I get all 6 Katie items, all RNG btw. woo.
  189.
  190.
  191. Segment 4: Full Catalog
  192.
  193. This is kind of a big segment. Finishing up the rest of the amiibo items as well as the rest of the catalog, whatever that might be at this time. Also getting the max tree for playing for 500 days.
  194.
  195.
  196. Segment 5: All Gold Badges
  197.
  198. Finishing the rest of the gold badges. Likely the bug/fish badges. Maybe some other ones if needed. Also verifying I have everything else, and all the small things like Club Tortimer application, and alternate hairstyles/color contacts from Harriet.
  199.
  200.
  201. Segment 6: 100%
  202.
  203. Run ends on a K.K. Song. Thanks for watching. :)
