  1. Secondary character bio (and a bit more history about Neeskweeks too)
  2. Poogus: The not so easily killed
  3.
  4. Years ago the goblins of Shadestep Valley lived in relative peace, there were a few squabbles (mostly about food) but such a thing was bound to happen. Hundreds of goblins, living in the valley in peace. It was unheard of, but here it was, living proof. Everyone knows that goblins LOVE fire, the goblins of Shadestep valley were no exception, not only did they love fire, they worshiped it as a deity. Oqqiz The Firebringer. No one was really sure where he came from, he had been in the possession of the goblins for years upon countless years. A small rectangle of steel, about the size of a deck of cards, capable of producing a flame that would persist in even the strongest winds.

  6. This changed one day, two brothers, and leaders of the tribe, Neeskweeks and Poogus Shadestep had an argument about their lord and protector Oqqiz. Poogus, head of the religious aspects of the clan, felt that Oqqiz should be kept out in the open during the daylight hours where all the clan you bask in his burning majesty, then placed in safe keeping at night as had always been their custom. Neeskweeks however, believer that the goblins should share the light of Oqqiz with OTHER goblins around the world, in order to gain more followers of Oqqiz. Believing that if such a thing could happen they would have more than just a goblin clan living in a valley, they could hav an entire goblin nation. A shining example of what goblins COULD be if they just put aside their petty arguments and worked together. Poogus however could not be swayed on this matter, insisting that Oqqiz remain the burning beacon of protection that it had always been, and that removing Oqqiz from the valley where as far as the goblins knew, he had always existed would doom the valley. This caused a schism among the formerly peaceful goblins of Shadestep Valley Those who followed Poogus took shelter with Oqqiz in the cave to the left, while his brother Neeskweeks and those that followed his dream of a unified goblin nation took up residence on the cave tot he right. Neeskweeks was a brilliant scout and tactician as far as goblins go and he began to plot and scheme for a way to get Oqqiz from his brothers filthy hands, he needed to have their protector or before too long he knew the goblins in his cave would turn against him. So he mounted an assault against the cave to the left, waiting until the dead of night when his brothers allies would be asleep. He killed every goblin in that cave that night and used Oqqiz himself to burn all of the bodies that rested within. All of them except one.

  8. Poogus survived, though to this day he doesn't know how. He cried out prayers to Oqqiz to protect him from the flames so that he may avenge the atrocities his brother had committed that night. As the blinding smoke filled the room and Poogus' lungs alike, he fell over unconscious. He knows not how long he laid there, but when he awoke there were no other goblins in the valley besides himself, none living anyways. He wasn't sure if he himself was really alive. Oqqiz did in fact protect him, but he wasn't the same anymore, everything burned, his body a semisolid amalgamation of goblin, smoke and divine flames. He didn't know what sort of new abilities Oqqiz had granted him, but he knew what he must do. He must hunt down his brother, and any other member of the cave on the right, and kill them, he must avenge the goblins that were murdered that night. He lost count of the days he spent digging graves for the charred remains of his friends. Forever haunted by the smell of burning goblin lingering in his nose. No matter what he tried the smell just wouldn't leave, it was maddening.

  10. After the work of burying his friends had completed, Poogus gathered what he could, assembling a suit of armor for himself that he might wear it on his quest of holy vengeance. The armor, blackened forever by the soot and ash from his new form served as a constant reminder to Poogus about what he must do. He painted the symbol of Oqqiz on the breastplate and donned the armor and went back to the cave on the left one final time to grab the mighty hammer he used as a weapon. That day he followed the tracks of the goblin horde to the east, eventually catching up to them he would while they were camped. he approached the camp, veiled in the inky smoke that surrounded him, no one recognized the whispy figure walking towards the camp, but they knew it could speak in goblin as Poogus bellowed out a war cry and brought down his hammer on the head of the nearest goblin dropping him dead to the ground, many dead goblins later, Poogus was enraged to find that Neeskweeks was not there at all. With a little interrogation of the few still living goblins he learned The attack was not well liked by the other goblins and they were planning to form a ruling council, Neeskweek, not wanting to relinquish his power or his dream of a free goblin nation had taken most items of value from the remaining goblins and fled, no one really knew where too. Poogus stopped his slaughter of the remaining goblins, knowing they were coerced by his brother, now the single target of his wrath. Poogus would not end his quest, vengeance fueled him now as much as the food he ate.

  12. He searched for his brother for over a year until he found him, he had stolen from a man that was camped in the woods. The man chase him and Neeskweeks took shelter in a cave. Poogus had to act, waiting patiently in a hidden spot above the cave. watching and waiting until the stranger had left the cave. He waited still, curious where his brother might be. After camping at the mouth of the cave for a full week, Poogus had had enough. He climbed down from his hidden perch and entered the cave. Hammer at the ready in case he should encounter his traitorous brother. Deeper and deeper into the cave he ventured, soon realizing why the human had turned around and left. the cave narrowed so much that most humanoids besides goblins or maybe kobolds would have been able to squeeze through. Poogus even had to abandon his trusty hammer at one point. Though he kept going, deeper into the caves until around the bend there was a soft glowing light. When he rounded the corner the goblin tilted his head, there was a strange swirling disc of light. Cautious and practical, the goblin tossed a few rocks through the disc, when they did not appear out the other side it confirmed his fears that this was some sort of portal. He went back to where he left his hammer and began to use it to chip away some of the path so that his hammer would fit into the portal room. Once he managed that, Poogus knelt at the edge of the portal with his hammer across his lap as he uttered a prayer of guidance to Oqqiz before stepping through the portal.
