  1. >Be me
  2. >Be from non-descript east-european country
  3. >Want to go on vacation
  4. >Have worked hard at tractor factory so have a lot of disposable income
  5. >Want to go somewhere warm because its winter and I'm freezing my жопа off
  6. >Look at the list of destinations available
  7. >It seems pretty short because travel is only allowed within socialist nations
  8. >Cuba seems nice
  9. >Ask around for what its like
  10. >Some comrades have visited it
  11. >They say it has beautiful scenery and the locals know how to throw a party
  12. >Sounds like my kind of place
  13. >Get approval for vacation from management
  14. >Get accepted and plane ticket arrives next day
  15. >Get aboard the plane as it flies across the Atlantic
  16. >Get bored during the long flight so I read through the guidebook again
  17. >Apparently the parties that Cubans throw include a lot of dancing
  18. >Remember that I can't dance worth говно
  19. >Get both nervous and excited at the thought of maybe having to dance with a local qt
  20. >Shake my head
  21. >Figure that I'll cross that bridge when I get there
  22. >Sleep the rest of the flight and wake up when the plane is landing
  23. >Its night already so I find hotel to check into
  24. >Drop off my bags and head outside, slept in plane so not really tired
  25. >Walking around in the streets I can see how lively it is
  26. >Even at such a late hour people are still sitting outside in small bars and cafes playing music, singing, dancing and especially drinking
  27. >Feel nervous as some of the people sitting at the tables stare at me when I enter one of the bars
  28. >Try my best to ignore them as I head for the counter
  29. >Can't really make out what's being said around me
  30. >There's a lot of background noise from the band that's playing and the conversations going on at the tables
  31. >The guy behind the counter asks something along the lines of what I'd like
  32. >Order a glass of water because I don't know what half the drinks available are
  33. >He nods and brings over a glass of water along with a shot of yellowish-brown drink
  34. >"Its on the house amigo."
  35. >I take the offered drink with a quick thanks
  36. >Look at the glass for a moment before asking what it is
  37. >Apparently its a brand of local rum called Havana Club
  38. >Have never tasted rum before so I take an experimental sip
  39. >Scrunch my face a little bit at how strong the drink is before getting a warm feeling as it reaches my stomach
  40. >"This your first time here señor?"
  41. >Tell him I just arrived from the airport
  42. >"Ah, I know a new face when I see one. We don't get many foreign visitors."
  43. >Take a sip from the water to clear out the lingering taste of rum
  44. >Soon get dragged to the dance floor by other patrons who are clearly more drunk than I am as a new song starts being played by the band
  45. >Get paired up with a local qt
  46. >Try to explain that I don't know how to dance as the first verse starts
  47. >She just laughs my panicked explanations off before leading me along
  48. >Nervously try my best not to step on my dance partner's toes
  49. >My partner encourages me along as we keep going
  50. >Feel really awkward at for almost the whole beginning of the song.
  51. >When the second verse comes along I realize haven't actually made a single mistake yet
  52. >Get a small boost of confidence from this
  53. >Since I'm confident in my footwork now can actually pay more attention to my partner
  54. >She's easily an 8/10 with her curly black hair and skin that's dark and smooth like chocolate
  55. >Her breath smells weird though, like a mix of booze and tobacco
  56. >Her loose red and white dress sways alongside her hip movement as the song enters its energetic final part
  57. >Manage to finish the dance with flying colors as everyone cheers us along
  58. >Afterwards with sit down at the counter together and chat alongside a couple of drinks
  59. >Apparently my dance partner is a member of the military whose on leave
  60. >She recently returned from overseas after helping out and advising local anti-colonial fighters in Africa
  61. >Tell her I have no personal military experience beyond my own tour in the airforce
  62. >She's intrigued though as is evident when I mention my service in the airforce
  63. >She says she originally wanted to be a pilot
  64. >Apparently she could not become one because of her inability to handle the G-forces necessary for tight maneuvers
  65. >She looks really saddened about it
  66. >Try to console her with the fact that not many make it in to begin with
  67. >Joke that I only managed to make it into the flight cadet school because one of the guys didn't show up on the day of the interview
  68. >She's silent for a moment before turning to look at me and bursting out in laughter
  69. >She slaps me hard on the back and I spit out some of my drink in response
  70. >"You're a funny man Compañero Anon!"
  71. >Hit my chest, coughing from the rum as the barkeeper wipes the counter while murmuring something under his breath
  72. >Look around briefly and see the mood slowly dying down
  73. >The band has switched to a slower tune and some of the patrons have already started heading home
  74. >"Say amigo, how would you feel about staying at my place tonight?"
  75. >Look at her dumbfounded, trying to do a mental double-take
  76. >Ask her to repeat herself
  77. >"You heard me. You, me. My place. Tonight."
  78. >She's really aggressive about the way she's coming on to me
  79. >Look to the barkeeper for support
  80. >See that he just gives me a knowing look and a thumbs up before dissapearing into the backroom
  81. >Sigh and accept her invitation.
  82. >Since I'm the more sober of us two I help support her while she gives directions
  83. >Eventually we reach a pretty colorful looking two-story apartment building
  84. >It has a mural of Fidel and Che painted on to it
  85. >She doesn't even need to take out her keyes to open the door
  86. >Apparently the neighbourhoods are so safe most people don't even lock their doors
  87. >We sit down on the couch
  88. >She seems to suddenly remember something and asks me if I can get something for her
  89. >Surething.jpg
  90. >She says that there's a small yellow wooden box on the balcony table
  91. >I go get it and hand it to her
  92. >She thanks me and opens it, revealing a big pile of what looks to be hand-wrapped cigars
  93. >She takes one into her mouth before taking a box of matches out of her dress pocket and lighting up the end of her cigar with one
  94. >She offers me one of them
  95. >I've never really smoked, but I figure it would be rude to refuse
  96. >Take one of them and watch as she takes a deep breath before lighting it up with the end of her own one
  97. >Take a small inhale but start coughing almost immediately since I'm not used to the sensation or taste
  98. >After a few tries I eventually feel the nicotine kick in as I lay down on the couch totally relaxed
  99. >Feel the qt3.14 next to me lean against my shoulder
  100. >Feel my heart start pumping like crazy
  101. >"Anon, do you... perhaps have a girlfriend?"
  102. >Feel a lump in my throat as I embarrasingly mumble that I've never had one
  103. >"Ah, mis condolencias. Seems like you've had a rough social life."
  104. >Stay silent, really don't feel like talking about it
  105. >"Then how about I be your girlfriend for tonight?"
  106.
  107. To be continued
