- What did iM@S do during it's first year? Here's a translated rough timeline of that first year period from July 26th, 2005 to 2006. There might be more that happened than this. As a bonus the pre arcade release events are included too.

- October 2001 - Development on "Idol Game (temp name)" begins
- September 19-20 2002 - Idol Game (temp name) appears at 40th show. This is most likely the first time it appeared. It's pretty different from the release version.
- September 2002 - Idol Game (temp name) is introduced in Namco Gals History. It seems more like a galge than the release version, instead of digging holes Yukiho faints. Takane and Hibiki prototypes were shown.
- ??? 2003 - A mobile game called "H@PPENING LOC@TION: Hokkaido Journey" is copyrighted. It includes the idols in winter casual clothing unused in the arcade game. Much like later iM@S mobile games the idols can visit various real life locations, but in this game the locations are modified photos of the areas during winter.
- February 2-3 2004 - "THE IDOLM@STAR" appeared in AOU show.
- March 30, 2004 - Play opened on iDOLM@STER WEB. It lasted from March 30-June 2 that year and was removed from the web afterwards.
- September 1, 2004 - The iDOLM@STER WEB site opened officially. The first PV was uploaded which included Haruka's famous "It's a dome! A dome!" line.

- September 2-3 2004 - Appeared in 42AM show with the official title "THE iDOLM@STER". Through distributed postcards people would locally test play and received special headphones.
- December 17-19 2004 - First local test play. The idol usage rate ranking is below.

- February 10, 2005 - Kotori's first appearance on the official site blog. It's just by name though.
- March 11, 2005 - On the official site Yukiho's special voice blog began distributing celebrating her two 1st places in local testing.
- March 18, 2005 - People who sent the idols fan letters on the official home page had their letters added to the game and had their names added to the staff role.
- April 1, 2005 - Home use iDOLM@STER sale confirmed. April fools joke. Shows a guy playing it in various locations.
- April 8, 2005 - idol 4komas appeared on the official home page. Origins of Producer being a guy with a P on his face.
- May 2005 - XBOX360 version iDOLM@STER sale confirmed. This time it's real.
- June 6-12 2005 - Third local test play. This version is very close to the release version.
- June 30, 2005 - In Arcadia's August issue iDOLM@STER concept art is shown.
- July 10, 2005 - In another August issue IDOLM@STERSTATION appears. There's a picture of Haruka and Yukiho in swimsuits and an imas section.
- July 13, 2005 - mobile version of the official website opens.

- July 26, 2005 - Kotori's picture appears in an FAQ section. She's based on someone from a commercial.
- July 26, 2005 - The arcade version of iDOLM@STER is released.
- July 2005 - THE iDOLM@STER and Positive! appear in Taiko.
- July 29, 2005 - On the official site an explanation titled "To people beginning iDOLM@STER" was posted.
- July 30, 2005 - iDOLM@STER appears on the cover of Arcadia's September issue with yukatas.
- August 1, 2005 - The first player to reach THE iDOLM@STER Producer ranking known as 飛炎P. In the XBOX360 version within three days after release they had 2,900,000 fans.
- August 2005 - Namco had a campaign where they gave idol themed goods to players.
- August 4, 2005 - THE iDOLM@STER and Positive! appear in PS2 Taiko.
- August 19, 2005 - iDOLM@STER first goods premium kit on sale. Included two cards in a CD sized case. It used to sell for a lot on auctions.
- August 25, 2005 - Ver.1.01 version update. First seasonal commus distributed.
- August 29, 2005 - PreSta mini live 2. Same people as last time.
- September 16, 2005 - from the mobile site you could view your player data and ranking.
- September 16-18 2005 - At Tokyo Game Show an AC Version of iDOLM@STER was shown. There's a magazine cover showing off the cool & sexy costumes.
- September 2005 - THE OSIDOLMASTER video is created and technically the first iM@SMAD.
- September 26, 2005 - The first iDOLM@STER comic appears. (It was released in volume a few years later)
- September 27, 2005 - Ver.1.20 version update.
- September 28, 2005 - The first iDOLM@STER CD MASTERPIECE01 "Mahou wo Kakete!" on sale. The school uniforms were added in the XBOX360 version.
- October 23, 2005 - The first iDOLM@STER doujin vocal arrange CD was sold titled "iM@S to go!". Site link included below.

- October 2005 - A program called "LESSONM@STER" was released on PC to practice dance lessons. A later version also had vocal lessons.
- October 26, 2005 - The "Let's begin iDOLM@STER campaign!" begins. On the home page was a print out that gave a free first play. There was also a tutorial card.
- October 28, 2005 - iDOLM@STER Platinum Album on sale.
- November 2, 2005 - M@STERPIECE02 "9:02pm" on sale.
- November 11, 2005 - iDOLM@STER comic anthology on sale.
- November 30, 2005 - M@STERPIECE03 "Positive!" on sale.
- December 2005 - There was an imas fair at animate. When you bought imas goods you were gifted one of five kinds of producer notebooks.
- December 1, 2005 - iDOLM@STER official goods store opened. It closed in March 2008.
- December 15, 2005 - The first and last iDOLM@STER tournament. The super producer tournament lasted a month. Using one of 9 songs and collecting fans without changing it was the goal. They picked the best percentage from the top 10 and that unit was on M@STERPIECE04.
- December 22, 2005 - First drama CD Scene with Yukiho and Makoto on sale.
- December 25, 2005 - 1st birthday goods Yukiho's poster card set on sale.
- December 27, 2005 - iDOLM@STER Character Master on sale. Included official stories on the idols before they debuted.

- December 30, 2005 - iDOLM@STER talk show at winter comiket.
- December 2005 - At UGA Taiyou no Jealousy and Aoi Tori karaoke began distributing.
- January 21, 2006 - iDOLM@STER secret live held. People were raffled from those who bought M@STERPIECE from animate. 8 VAs appeared. (Iori had a cold) Kotori was the announcer and this was the first time she was voiced.
- January 25, 2006 - iDOLM@STER comic anthology 2 on sale.
- January 30, 2006 - THE iDOLM@STER 1: Melody of Serenity on sale.
- January 2006 - First iDOLM@STER memories album. Let you save images you took in game to an album. 1st was Haruka Yukiho and Ritsuko.
- February 12, 2006 - The first iDOLM@STER only doujin event "THE iDOL MANIAX" was held.
- February 14, 2006 - iDOLM@STER fan DVD "Lovable Days." on sale.
- February 24, 2006 - Drama CD Scene 2 with Chihaya and Yayoi on sale.
- February 27, 2006 - THE iDOLM@STER 2: Heart-throbbing Summer Days on sale.
- March 8, 2006 - "Let's begin iDOLM@STER on mobile! campaign" began. Ended March 31st.
- March 10, 2006 - Chihaya's birthday CD "Gratitude" preorders start.
- March 19, 2006 - Another secret event. 100 people were selected.
- March 22, 2006 - M@STERPIECE04 on sale. The photos in the jacket were from producers in the tournament.
- March 24, 2006 - Drama CD Scene 3 with Haruka Ritsuko and Iori.
- March 2006 - Mahou wo Kakete, THE iDOLM@STER, Positive added to AC Taiko.
- April 1, 2006 - iDOLM@STER anime confirmed! This was an april fools joke. It was reused way later after the actual anime was out too. iDOLM@STER official 2006 calender on sale. There were fan pictures inside included. A few of the VAs also joined in.
- April 9, 2006 - THE iDOLM@STER RADIO begins broadcast. Included Mingosu and King.
- April 21, 2006 - Drama CD Scene 4 with Azusa and the twins on sale.
- April 26, 2006 - iDOLM@STER concept comic on off on sale. It showed the idols on stage and their days off.
- April 27, 2006 - Web radio radio de imaSHOW began broadcast. Included Eriko, Mingosu, and Yurishii. Yurishii was later replaced by Nigo.
- May 31, 2006 - M@STERPIECE05 on sale.
- June 23, 2006 - Drama CD Scene 5 on sale.
- July 11, 2006 - Version 1.30 version update.
- July 19, 2006 - MASTER BOX 1 on sale.
- July 21, 2006 - Drama CD Scene 6 on sale. iDOLM@STER XBOX360 version information shown in famitsu.
- July 23, 2006 - THE iDOLM@STER 1st ANNIVERSARY LIVE was held.
