  3.
  4. ==== READ THIS FIRST ====
  5.
  6. I try to keep this updated and accurate, but take no responsibility if anything
  7. goes wrong from using the information in this paste. Check the current thread
  8. in case there are recent developments.
  9.
  10. Rule #1: Do NOT update your Vita/PSTV past 3.60! You will lose any hacks, and
  11. there is no way to downgrade. However there are disadvantages to remaining on
  12. 3.60:
  13. - Games requiring 3.61+ cannot be played. Affected games show an update nag, or
  14. if HENkaku is active, a C1-6703-6 error. Roughly speaking this affects games
  15. released October 2016 or later and different regions are counted separately.
  16. - PSN access may be limited or broken. At time of writing you can play online,
  17. but you cannot download games from PSN (E-80558325 error) even through a PS3.
  18. You cannot do system activation either.
  19.
  20. To avoid unwanted updates, keep it in flight mode where possible, make sure any
  21. Internet connections have DNS set to 212.47.229.76, turn off automatic update
  22. downloading (settings->system->auto-start settings), and make sure to choose no
  23. if an update nag appears. Be careful about letting other people play on it.
  24.
  25. Rule #2: Do NOT mess around in the filesystem. Stick to ux0:data/ for homebrew
  26. data and VPKs. Only change files on ux0: ur0: uma0: or gro0: if you know what
  27. you're doing. Don't touch any other partitions unless you want to brick, or
  28. _really_ know what you're doing.
  29.
  30. ==== FIRST-TIME BUYERS ====
  31.
  32. If buying for hacks, any _new_ Western ones are guaranteed to be hackable. New
  33. Japanese ones are riskier, and the red or silver ones are always 3.61+. Used
  34. systems are very unlikely to be <=3.60 unless stated otherwise.
  35.
  36. TODO: Are all new PSTVs safe?
  37.
  38. ==== HENKAKU ====
  39.
  40. This is what allows everything else to work. Refer here for setup instructions
  41. and how to update to 3.60 if you're on an older firmware version.
  42.
  43. https://henkaku.xyz/usage/
  44.
  45. The hack persists until you power it off. For a more permanent setup, install
  46. HENkaku Enso, then it automatically installs on power on.
  47.
  48. https://enso.henkaku.xyz/
  49.
  50. General settings are in the official settings app, under HENkaku settings. The
  51. most important is the unsafe homebrew toggle, generally keep it disabled unless
  52. a program needs it. PSN version spoof should be whatever the latest is (3.65 at
  53. time of writing).
  54.
  55. Also important is the config file for setting up plugins. This will be in:
  56. - ux0:tai/config.txt
  57. - ur0:tai/config.txt (used only if above does not exist)
  58. It's recommended to only have the latter if using Enso.
  59.
  60. ==== UTILITIES ====
  61.
  62. molecularshell comes with HENkaku, it's for browsing the filesystem, installing
  63. VPKs, editing text files, or copying things from/to your Vita via FTP. Pirating
  64. and theming have their own section. Other useful homebrew:
  65.
  66. - VitaShell
  67. https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/VitaShell/releases
  68. An improved molecularShell, notably allows SD card to be accessed via USB and
  69. is also used to "install" NoNpDrm games. Requires unsafe homebrew for certain
  70. functions.
  71.
  72. - Vita Homebrew Browser
  73. https://github.com/devnoname120/vhbb/releases
  74. Tool for browsing and installing Vita homebrew, aren't you surprised?
  75.
  76. - Oclock Vita
  77. https://github.com/frangarcj/oclockvita
  78. taiHEN plugin that lets you adjust your Vita's power settings within a game
  79. to always be max (or not). Extremely recommended. Refer to documentation for
  80. how to set it up and use.
  81.
  82. - RetroArch
  83. http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/playstation/vita/
  84. GO AWAY SQUAREPUSHER but in all seriousness it's the best emulator on Vita.
  85. Install the full VPK instead of individual cores. Don't expect all of them to
  86. perform well though.
  87.
  88. - vitaQuake
  89. http://rinnegatamante.it/site/psv_hbs.php
  90. It's Quake. What more to say? Supports the expansions, mods, and multiplayer.
  91. Some framerate issues for now. Mod selector only in the 2.0 version for some
  92. reason.
  93.
  94. - Another Metroid 2 Remake
  95. https://nicoblog.org/psvita/another-metroid-2-remake-return-of-samus-region-free-vitamin-2-0-ps-vita-vpk/
  96. https://my.mixtape.moe/whtatk.vpk (alt download link)
  97. The fan remake of Metroid II Return of Samus. Absolutely heretical.
  98.
  99. ==== NONPDRM/PKGI ====
  100.
  101. NoNpDrm is the current method for game/update/DLC copying. Older methods like
  102. MaiDumpTool and Vitamin are strongly discouraged. Refer here for the NoNpDrm
  103. plugin, how to set it up, and how to dump/install games with it.
  104.
  105. https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/NoNpDrm
  106.
  107. Once that's set up, games can easily be sourced through pkgi. Download here:
  108.
  109. https://github.com/St4rk/PkgDecrypt
  110.
  111. Create a text file ux0:pkgi/config.txt with the following. Make sure there's a
  112. newline after it. Then select a game to install it.
  113.
  114. url https://nopaystation.com/pkgi
  115.
  116. For now DLC and updates have to be handled on PC. Download NPSBrowser:
  117.
  118. https://github.com/jhonhenry10/NPS_Browser/releases
  119.
  120. Add the .tsv files from https://nopaystation.com/ and then download and install
  121. what you want, copy it to your Vita, then install with VitaShell. It's also
  122. possible to use PkgDecrypt if not on Windows.
  123.
  124. https://github.com/St4rk/PkgDecrypt
  125.
  126. TODO: PSVgamesd. This will more be for preservation-focused dumping when it's
  127. ready for general use though.
  128.
  129. ==== ADRENALINE (PSP/PS1 PIRATING) ====
  130.
  131. As of Adrenaline 6 installing is much simpler, and you don't need PSN. Refer to
  132. the readme for initial setup. Also recommend to follow note 1 as it allows you
  133. to run Adrenaline without unsafe homebrew enabled.
  134.
  135. https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/Adrenaline
  136.
  137. Finally, run through the initial PSP setup. PSP ISOs need to be copied into
  138. ux0:/pspemu/ISO and in Adrenaline will show up under Game -> Memory Stick™. As
  139. of Adrenaline 3 you can also run Playstation games provided they're converted
  140. to PSP eBoot.
  141.
  142. https://nicoblog.org/guides/psx2psp-v1-4-2-how-to-convert-games-to/
  143.
  144. Such games are a GAMEID folder that should be placed in ux0:/pspemu/PSP/GAME/
  145.
  146. Note: It's possible to have pspemu/ on ur0: or uma0: change it in Adrenaline's
  147. settings if you want this.
  148.
  149. ==== SD2VITA ====
  150.
  151. This allows you to use regular SD cards with your Vita, at the expense of using
  152. the cartridge slot. HENkaku is required, and this assumes you've installed Enso
  153. as well.

  162.
  163. TODO: Document where to buy? Also USB on PSTV and the 3G SD card adapter.
  164.
  165. ==== CUSTOM THEMING ====
  166.
  167. Themes, link to the installer program, and also how to make your own. Pretty
  168. simple stuff. The theme installer requires unsafe homebrew.
  169.
  170. http://psv.altervista.org/
  171.
  172. TODO: It is also possible to install them on later firmwares.
  173.
  174. ==== PSTV UNBLACKLISTING ====
  175.
  176. TODO: Document. It can be done on all firmware revisions.
